Maricar Reyes-Poon thanks ABS-CBN for everything, but respects Congress’ decision: “The decision was not up to me”

Actress Maricar Reyes-Poon wrote an open letter to thank ABS-CBN for the help she received from them.

In her Instagram post last week, Reyes said that while she’s sad for what happened to ABS-CBN, she still respected the decision of the House of Representatives against Kapamilya Network.

At first, she thought that Congress would allow ABS-CBN to operate while they’re fixing the alleged violations they made, but worse happened.

“ABSCBN. Di ko makakalimutan ang tulong nila sa akin… especially at the lowest point of my public life… nandun sila LAHAT para tumulong,” said Reyes-Poon.

“I really thought congress would still grant them a franchise, then give the proper consequences for any proven violations… But the decision was not up to me, but to the elected officials. I will respect that,” she added.

She then sent a message of encouragement to the people affected by ABS-CBN shutdown.

“I pray for those who are worried about their future. Please don’t lose hope… there is always a way out of the darkest situations,” she said.

“God is just & righteous. And He knows better than we ever will. Let’s trust Him on this,” she added.

“In the future we will all understand WHY this happened. Till, then… mahigpit na YAKAP SA LAHAT NG NAGHIHIRAP ngayong panahon ng pandemya —- KAPAMILYA MAN O HINDI,” she also said.

Meanwhile, the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) praised the authorities for their successful mission against Apolinario who was accused of luring people to donate to his self-proclaimed religious group in exchange for 30% monthly interest.

SEC urged the investors of KAPA to file charges against Apolinario.

Judge Gil Bollozos of 10th Judicial Region, RTC, Branch 21 in Cagayan de Oro City didn’t recommend a bail to Apolinario.

Last year, President Rodrigo Duterte personally warned the people from investing in Apolinario’s religious group.

A few days, after Duterte’s statement, Apolinario disappeared in public and only attended a public rally to convince his followers that the President changed his mind and now supporting KAPA.

Katrina Halili tells fan who asks her to support Kapamilya: “Kung gusto mo sumama sa kanila, walang pumipigil sayo”

GMA-7 artist Katrina Halili has a short reply to a fan who asked her to post something to express her support to ABS-CBN.

On July 20, a fan asked Halili to show support to Kapamilya network, or else Darna may get upset to her.

“Hi katring wala kaba pagsuporta sa kapamilya, makiisa ka naman sa pinag daraanan nila, magagalit si darna sayo,” the fan told Halili.

As a response, Halili asked why she’s required to post to show her support to ABS-CBN if she could just include them to her prayers.

“Kailangan ba magpost talaga, pwede naman isama sila sa prayers ko. Kung gusto mo sumama sa kanila, walang pumipigil sayo,” said Halili.

The fan may be referring to ABS-CBN top defender Angel Locsin who became Darna in 2004.

Meanwhile, Halili became a villain in the same show as ‘Black Darna’.

Halili then retweeted a post from another fan, who defended her from the critics who got disappointed by her answer.

According to netizen @LadyRocks23, people should not force celebrities like Halili to be vocal in support of ABS-CBN.

“Magagalit si Darna? Ano ito sindakan, sapilitan? Paki alam ba nila kay darna, lalo na yung mga ayaw at gustong tahimik lang, tama naman si Ms. Katrina na puwedeng isama sila sa prayers. Umayos nga kayo, kaya kumakalat ang sakit dahil sa mga gaya niyong pasaway. #RallyPaMore,” the fan of Halili wrote.

“Nakisawsaw lang si Jennelyn Mercado, gusto niyo ata lahat din ng kapuso, sumawsaw. Laban niyo iyan, huwag kayong mandamay, hintayin niyong magkusa kung sino gustong sumama sa inyo,” she added.

Jennelyn Mercado, the batchmate of Halili in Starstruck season 1 became vocal on defending ABS-CBN.

When a netizen told Halili that not every problem could be solved by prayers, she said that she only respect his opinion.

“I respect your opinion, buhay mo yan. to each his own,” she said.

Alessandra De Rossi refuses to join rallies: “Birthday nga, ‘di ako umaattend, rally pa?”

Actress Alessandra De Rossi made an unpopular opinion on Twitter after she publicly announced her refusal to attend physical rallies.

In a series of tweets, De Rossi talked about her opinions including her refusal to join rallies to express her beliefs, citing that she’s not okay mentally and there’s still a pandemic happening in the country.

“May COVID. Maawa ka. Tsaka di ako okay (mentally) pag madaming tao. Birthday party nga, di ako umaattend, rally pa?” De Rossi said.

When asked if she could show her support to the affected workers of ABS-CBN shutdown, she clarified that if possible, she would allow the broadcasting network giant to operate.

“Lagi ako nababash dyan. Pag naawa ako sa nawalan ng work, automatic anti-gvt agad ako. Kung tama tingin ko, wala akong awa sa nawalan. Wala akong gagawing tama. Kung ako lang masusunod papabuksan ko na yan sa driver ko dahil pandemic pa naman. Kaso wala akong driver. Ako na to!” she said.

She then cited her fear on COVID-19, calling it as an invisible enemy.

“Ako pa ba? Kaya nga madami nagiisip maldita ako dahil pag tama ako, di ako takot magsabi ng totoo at magmukhang mali. Pero yung covid ay wala akong xray vision para dyan. Yung totoo, takot ako dyan. Wala akong planong makausap sya ng personal. Wala akong planong matalo dyan,” De Rossi stated.

“I dedma best… But I guess my best wasn’t good enough! Woozy face I pray you look beyond your personal opinions. Na di porket mas matapang ang isa ay takot ang isa. Baka iba kinatatakutan nya. Ako sure na, covid first, tapusin ko lang to at baka ito tumapos sakin,” she also said.

She then clarified that there’s nothing wrong with attending rallies, but at the same time, it’s also acceptable for the people to let the pandemic ends before going out.

“Feeling ko kung nasa pinas nanay ko ay babatukan ako nun kung lumabas ako. Iba iba tayo ng kinalakihan. Iba iba tayo ng laban. Walang mali sa umattend ng rally dahil may gusto sila Ilaban. Walang mali sa gusto palipasin muna to be sure. Isa lang kalaban ngayon at hindi ako yun,” she said.

She said that she would stay on social media while waiting to the end of the pandemic.

“Wala akong pagsisisihan if my only goal is to stay alive and do only what I can. Dahil di ko pa tapos bayaran insurance ko para may makuha  @ermatsko pag nadeadz ako. Wala naman akong savings, ni pang ospital wala. Ang importante ngayon.. Mabuhay tayo. So twitter nalang!” she remarked.

Before ending her series of tweets, De Rossi said that she would respect everyone’s action amid the pandemic.

“Di ako asar pero di rin ako nagjojoke. Hating hati na tayong lahat dahil sa mga interest na pang personal, pang mahal sa buhay, pang tama at mali. At this point, pag lumaban ka, mayabang ka. Pag nanahimik ka, wala kang paki. Pag pray ka nalang, inasa mo kay Lord. Yung totoo?” she said.

“Anyway, wala na akong planong makipagdiskusyon sa ayaw naman makinig. I respect everyone who fights, I respect everyone who shuts up, for now…till may covid. And I will end it with the same statement, hindi ako takot lumaban. Pero takot ako sa nanay ko at sa covid. Peas!” she added.

Alessandra De Rossi has gone viral on social media after movie with Paolo Contis Through Night and Day became the most-watched movie in Netflix Philippines last week.

Pekeng balita! Vice Ganda denies that he got rejected by TV5 because of high talent fee

Jose Marie Viceral popularly known as Vice Ganda denied the story about being rejected by TV5 because they asked for a high amount of talent fee.

Viceral was referring to our article written on July 20, titled “Ang mahal! TV5 reportedly rejects Vice Ganda after the comedian’s camp asks 3-M pesos talent fee”

In his tweet, Viceral posted the screenshot of our article, labeling it as “#PekFakeNews”.

Viceral didn’t become specific why our story became fake news, but our website is welcome to take the side of the comedian.

While Viceral denied the news, a report from PEP.ph again said that an “insider” from TV5 confirmed that the management of the comedian talked to the station.

The source confirmed that the negotiation fail because of the amount of talent fee being asked by TV5.

“Sino ba ang nangangailangan kanino ngayon?” the source of Pep.ph said.

In a report of Bilyonaryo.ph the possible reason why TV5 is not planning to release big money to take popular talents from ABS-CBN because its owner, business tycoon Manny V. Pangilinan already learned his lesson.

Meanwhile, Viceral is going to launch his own network titled Vice Ganda Network.

“Know the latest Vice News, get some Vice Beauty tips, get a chance to win some Vice giveaways, join the fun Vice Games, and get to watch the latest Vice videos. All of these, first and exclusive on VICE GANDA NETWORK.” the statement read.

Direk Erik Matti slam Vice Ganda’s “Praybeyt Benjamin” inclusion to MMFF: “Walang nagbago a! Kinangkina!”

Award-winning director Erik Matti slammed the inclusion of Vice Ganda’s movie “Praybeyt Benjamin” in the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF)

In a series of Facebook posts, the director of popular Filipino movies like “Gagamboy” and “Honor Thy Father” expressed disappointment that MMFF still put Praybeyt Benjamin in the cinemas next Christmas.

“Bagsak na nga ang pelikula, sumara na ABS, Praybeyt Benjamin pa rin palabas sa Pasko? Walang nagbago a! Kinangkina!” Matti said.

“5 months lockdown. Thousands of content binged. Biggest network closes. Praybeyt Benjamin. We never learned,” he added.

In another lengthy post, Matti became more specific about his complaint about the current movies being shown in cinemas.

“The initial thoughts I had, as a filmmaker, was to go back to basics. Small crew, small stories, personal, light and relevant. And true enough, with the many limitations on safety and health, I think that’s the way to go. And given how small it will be, the filmmaker now is afforded the chance to refresh storytelling techniques and dramatic structures hopefully giving birth to something new that everyone can welcome from all these months of drudgery,” Matti said.

“But I maybe overthinking it too. Maybe going back to normal is just that, going back to how we were before all these. Same old, same shit. Maybe the way to go is just presume nothing has changed and everyone still wants the same things. Same plotlines, same rehashed stories, same piks and paks, same copies of things that worked out there,” he added.

“Maybe my age is just thinking something should change in the industry I work in. But maybe the entire country thinks it should just stay the same. Or maybe too, no one really cares whether we change or not. There are more important basic things that need change that tv and movies are not really on that list,” he also said.

Praybeyt Benjamin 1 (2011) earned 332 million pesos while Praybeyt Benjamin 2 (2014) earned 455 million pesos.

Vice Ganda, who’s planning to launch his own network has yet to comment on Matti’s criticisms.

This is not the first time that Matti criticized MMFF movies.

In 2018, Matti made a short tweet, saying how bad movies in the Philippines are earning big amount of money.

“In a perfect world, bad movies don’t make money. In our world though, that’s all that makes money.” Matti said.

Matti also received criticisms last April after he questioned why the top ten Netflix shows in the Philippines were made by Koreans.

“The daily top ten most viewed on #Netflix shows us how our movies and tv are doomed in the future. K-drama galore. Faux cinderella stories with belofied actors whiter than white. And it’s all about love in the midst of this pandemic,” Matti said.

PRO-7 to ask ‘Tsismosa/Tsismoso’ to help the authorities in COVID-19 contact tracing: “They could be a good source”

Philippine National Police (PNP) Region 7 has a brilliant idea on how they could intensify their contact tracing efforts by asking the help of the ‘tsimoso and tsimosa’ or gossipers to find possible COVID-19 carriers.

In an interview with the press, PRO-7 Director Albert Ignatius Ferro said that having a ‘tsimoso brigade’ may be a good idea to increase the effectiveness of their contact tracing.

“Tatawagin natin itong tsimoso brigade… pwede silang maging good source katulad nang ginawa nila sa Bulacan. Pwede nating hingin ang tulong ng mga mahilig sa tsimis sa contact tracing… Atleast may magagawa silang mabuti imbis na magkalat lang ng tsismis,” Ferro said in Cebuano.

Ferro pointed out that the public also needs to participate in fighting the pandemic in the country.

“This health emergency crisis is not only a job or responsibility of the police, of the military, or the local government. This is a responsibility of every single Sugboano, Boholano, Ilongo, Ilocano, Bisaya, and all the Filipino citizens,” Ferro said.

Cebu City, the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country can be found in region 7.

This is not the first time that the Filipinos used gossiping to fight COVID-19.

In a story written by National Geographic, a doctor in a small barangay in Nueva Viscaya used gossipers to keep an eye on their neighbors and look for the people who just arrive in their village.

“The members of this unofficial “gossip brigade” are thrilled to help. It’s their time to shine,” the article read.

PBB runner-up Bailey May reacts on layoff of ABS-CBN workers: “Wag bingi, wag bulag at higit sa lahat ‘wag b*b*!”

Pinoy Big Brother: 737 third runner-up Bailey May talked about the workers being layoff due to the shutdown of ABS-CBN.

In a statement, the British-Filipino actor pointed out the difference between people losing jobs because of the pandemic, and employees losing their occupation because of the government’s action.

“Magkaiba yung natanggal sa trabaho dahil sa pandemya kaysa sa natanggal sa trabaho dahil sa unfair na gobyerno,” said May.

He has a reminder to his fans.

“WAG BINGI, ‘WAG BULAG, AT HIGIT SA LAHAT, ‘WAG B*B*!” he said.

Netizens reacted to May’s post, telling him that he should not blame the government for what’s happening to the Kapamilya network.

“Sisihin mo ang boss ng abs cbn Bakit nag lay off! Tapos sisihin mo sarili mo pag nag tagal kang walang trabaho! isip isip din,” mirrormirrage said.

“No one is above the law, if your network is compliant in the first place, this will never happened.. Blame your network!” dunixielek remarked.

“Wow ang galing pala mag salita tong si Bailey May! O baka tinuruan lng? Ang daming tutor yata sa abs cbn. Baka tulad din siya ni Kim Chiu na hindi alam ang sinasabi,” joemariedorcelo commented.

ABS-CBN announced that they’re going to start to layoff their workers starting August 31.

The House of Representatives on July 10, rejected the franchise application of ABS-CBN, citing several violations committed by the broadcasting network.

However, ABS-CBN and its supporters denied that they did something wrong.

Some lawyers and politicians hint that they may force the government to give the franchise to ABS-CBN via people’s initiative.

Netizen to Angel Locsin who calls out celebrities not defending ABS-CBN: “Baka kasi hindi sila stockholder katulad mo”

A netizen addressed Angel Locsin after the latter criticized celebrities who kept their silence on the franchise issue of ABS-CBN.

In a Facebook post, Marvin Torre who admitted that he’s a fan of Locsin said that other celebrities may not so much be affected by the ABS-CBN shutdown, unlike the former ‘Darna’ star who reportedly owned stocks in the broadcasting company.

Locsin reportedly owned 115,000 ABS-CBN stocks, making her the 29th highest stockholder of the said company.

Torre stated that other celebrities may be convinced by the decision by the House of Representatives to reject the franchise application of ABS-CBN because of several violations.

Last Sunday, Locsin addressed the celebrities who kept their silence on the shutdown of ABS-CBN.

“Sa mga kasamahan kong artistang di nagsasalita, ano, may career pa ba kayo? Wala na, wala na kayong network kahit magpa-cute kayo d’yan sa Instagram, magsend kayo ng mga sad face, di n’yo nadadamayan ang mga katrabaho n’yo na dahilan kung bakit kayo sumikat,” Locsin said.

Locsin also reacted after the upcoming Darna star Jane De Leon explained her absence in ABS-CBN rallies.
