Motivational Speaker Rendon Labador made a public apology to journalist Ben Tulfo and comedian Michael V.
In a Facebook post he posted on May 23, 2023, Labador clarified that he never had a feud with Tulfo and that netizens were only misled by false news about Tulfo defending Bitoy.
He also made it clear that he personally visit Tulfo not because he was afraid, but because he wanted to know more about the journalist.
Labador also said that he believed in the credibility of Tulfo, contradicting his earlier statement that he didn’t know anything about Tulfo.
“Hindi ko siya pinuntahan dahil natatakot ako sa kanya, pinuntahan ko siya kasi gusto ko siyang makilala at isa siya sa mga tinitignan ko na feeling ko ay mas makakaintindi sakin. Isa siya sa mga nakikita ko sa Pilipinas na mataas ang kredibilidad, may paninindigan at may isang salita,” he said.
“Sabi ko sa kanya ‘idol gusto ko ‘yung narating mo, nakikita ko ‘yung posisyon mo ngayon na yan ang gusto kong marating’ at isa sa mga pinakagustohan ko kay idol Ben Tulfo ay ‘yung sincerity niya sa pagtulong sa mahihirap,” he added.
According to him, Tulfo treated him like his own son and gave him some advice.
Tulfo told him to tone down his statements because he might be misunderstood by netizens.
He then apologized to the netizens for being affected by his past statements.
However, he couldn’t promise that he would tone down his statements against celebrities that he was criticizing.
“Gusto ko pong humingi ng pasensya sa lahat ng Pilipinong nasaktan at naging emosyonal sa mga nangyari sa social media, hindi ko po ma-assure kay Michael V, kay Coco Martin at sa lahat ng mga celebrities at atleta na nadadamay sa lahat ng mga isyu na sinisita ko sa internet.” he said.
“Hindi ko po ma-a-assure na hindi ko po kayo masasaktan ulit, pasensya na po ako for being straightforward,” he added.
