Pinol shares his thoughts on 4Ps: Hindi na nagtatrabaho ang mga tao, naghihintay nalang sila sa kanilang allowances

Department of Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol has a suggestion on how the government would help the poor instead of giving them allowances like what the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4ps) is doing.

Piñol, who expressed his opposition several times to the 4Ps said that he wanted to convert the 70-B pesos given by the government to the 4Ps beneficiaries into a livelihood funding assistance to improve the agriculture sector.

It seems that Piñol believes in the saying, “Give a Man a Fish, and You Feed Him for a Day. Teach a Man To Fish, and You Feed Him for a Lifetime”.

“I’m the most vocal critic of this program of the government. [It] is spending P70 billion annually [for 4Ps], which is bigger than the budget of the DA.

“In fact, what I am saying is the 4Ps could be another program that could contribute to agricultural productivity if used properly. Instead of giving in forms dole-out every month, why don’t we start a livelihood program using that money?”

He believed that instead of making the people productive, 4Ps made its beneficiaries lazy and only depending themselves to the allowance that the government gave to them.

“People are not working anymore, and they are just waiting for their allowances. In fact, for years the 4Ps did not result in anything. Worse, the work force in the agriculture sector has been reduced because of it,” he said in an interview with reporters.

The agriculture secretary also claimed that many cabinet members supported his idea, but he refused to name them.

Piñol said that he’s going to submit his proposal to President Rodrigo Duterte at the next Cabinet meeting this month.

“The gist of my proposal is that we should make use of the 4Ps fund for livelihood activities to increase greater food productivity,” he said.

Meanwhile, several people criticized the proposal of Pinol including Akbayan party-list representative Tom Villarin who believe that the program encourages its beneficiaries to work and it also reduced alcoholism.

However, Piñol stood by his belief that the 4Ps program only being used for political purposes “especially during the last Presidential elections when the candidates of the administration really focused on the 4Ps program as proof of its care for the poor.”

He also accepted the challenge to debate with Villarin to prove that 4Ps is ineffective in fighting poverty.

“Snatcher?” Akbayan party-list Villarin sued labor usec. Paras for allegedly stealing his expensive iPhone X

Akbayan party-list representative Tom Villarin sued former Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) lawyer and now Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Undersecretary Jacinto Paras because of an unusual reason.

CCTV Footage shows DOLE Undersecretary Jacinto Paras greeting Villarin. It also shows that he put his phone at the top of Villarin’s gadget. Photo: House of the Representatives.

In his theft complaint that he filed to the Quezon City prosecutor’s office, the fierce critic of the Duterte administration claimed that Jacinto, who’s a supporter of the President allegedly stole his expensive phone during a congressional hearing last March.

CCTV footage shows that Paras already carried the phone of Villarin.

According to the testimony of Villarin, the DOLE exec who’s holding a phone and power bank approached him during the congressional hearing, later on, Paras placed his phone on top of Villarin’s expensive gadget.

“Kayo pala ni Senator [Risa] Hontiveros ang magkasama.” Paras told Villarin according to the complainant.

Paras left the hall together with Villarin’s phone.

When Paras left the area, the CCTV showed that the DOLE exec was already carrying the phone of the lawmaker.

After realizing that his phone was missing, he asked his staff to call his phone, later on, it was answered by a member of the Legislative Security Bureau (LSGB).

It also showed in another CCTV footage that Paras left the phone of Villarin in one of the rooms at the House of the Representatives.

Villarin believed that the intention of Paras for stealing his phone is to gather information that he may be used against Senator Risa Hontiveros who’s also a member of Akbayan.

“Yes, possibly that’s the main motive why he wanted my phone, to get information,” Villarin said.

Villarin pointed out that if Paras only mistakenly took his phone, he will return it to him or surrender it to the authorities and not leave it in an empty hall.

“Kung talagang nagkamali siya, dapat sinagot niya. Nagri-ring eh, pero hindi sinagot, iniwanan lang. Kung hindi sa kanya ‘yun, he could have answered [the call] and said, ‘Sorry, nadampot ko lang.’ Pero walang ganun,” he said.

According to Article 309, any person guilty of theft shall be punished by:

1. The penalty of prision mayor in its minimum and medium periods, if the value of the thing stolen is more than 12,000 pesos but does not exceed 22,000 pesos, but if the value of the thing stolen exceeds the latter amount the penalty shall be the maximum period of the one prescribed in this paragraph, and one year for each additional ten thousand pesos, but the total of the penalty which may be imposed shall not exceed twenty years.

Paras denied the accusations of Villarin, saying that he cannot do such a thing.

The former VACC lawyer is known for filing cases against the government officials who are seen to be part of destabilization efforts against President Duterte.

Duterte asks his audience about the status of VP recount between Marcos and Robredo: “Gusto ko ng mag resign.”

It seems that President Rodrigo Duterte gave a hint of who he really wants to succeed him as the leader of the Philippines.

During his speech at the Ceremonial enactment of Ease of Doing Business Act in Malacañan Palace on May 28, 2018, President Duterte who’s defending himself from the accusations of the ousted Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno expressed his willingness to retire from the presidency.

“Wala talaga, wala akong tinatago, sabihin mo sa gagang yan (Sereno), wala akong pakialam diyan, she got herself into it and it’s not because of us, not because of Congress,” Duterte said.

“Sinabi ko nga kung may magsabi lang na isa dito, anyone of you, magsabi na ‘tumawag ka sakin, nakalimutan mo may kinausap ka?’ mag resign ako, totoo yan,” he added.

However, Duterte seems that wanted to ensure first who’s gonna catch the responsibilities that he would left when he finally decided to resign from Presidency.

The President, who’s a known ally of former Senator Bongbong Marcos asked his audience about the current status of the recount between the latter and Vice President Leni Robredo.

“Tutal gusto ko nalang rin mag resign eh, ano ba itong latest count kay Bongbong (Marcos) pati kay ano (Leni Robredo), Vice President ba talaga yan?” he said.

Is this a hint that President Duterte prefers Marcos to replace him than Vice President Robredo?

Meanwhile, former Biliran representative and IT expert Glenn Chong claimed that Robredo already lost 21,000 votes during the manual recount.

“Ang totoo po niyan, natanggal po talaga ‘yun sa bilang… the 21,000 votes have been actually removed from the tally of nung nakaupong vice president si Leni. Nabawasan po talaga siya ng 21,000 votes,” Chong said.

He said that the information that he shared on his social media followers came from a legitimate source from the revisors of the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET).

Chong said that Robredo lost votes because of the 50-percent shade of the ballot oval rule implemented by PET.

However, Robredo said that the information released by Chong was fake news.

Robredo defeated Marcos by only 263,473 votes lead.

According to her narration, Pacquiao gave 3,000 pesos to the ice cream vendor, however when their discussion got deeper, the Senator increased the money that he gave to 30,000.

Ozamiz councilor Ardot Parojinog arrested in Taiwan after 10 months of hiding

Ozmiz City councilor Ricardo “Ardot” Parojinog was finally arrested by the Taiwan Police in Pingtung Country on Wednesday night.

Parojinog evaded the authorities for 10 months, after his brother Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo “Aldong” Parojinog Sr. for trying to resist the raiding team led by Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido.

According to the report of ABS-CBN News, the fugitive has been located after his former colleagues who earlier arrested by the Philippine National Police (PNP) revealed his current location.

Later on, PNP gave the information to the Taiwanese authorities which resulted at the end of the 10-month hiding of the City Councilor.

PNP is now preparing their team that would be sent to Taiwan to transport Parojinog back to the Philippines.

Malacanang is not yet giving any comment on the arrest of Parojinog.

Parojinog is expected to face cases for possessing illegal drugs and heavy firearms.

Two weeks ago, authorities confiscated several high-powered firearms and bombs from the two houses of Aldong.

They seized 2 antitank rockets, 2 rocket-propelled grenades, several rifle grenades and different firearms.

Ozamiz PNP also confiscated 2 packs of suspected illegal drugs and several grenades at the farm which allegedly owned by the Parojinogs.

Last year, President Rodrigo Duterte set a bounty of P5 million in exchange for some information about the whereabouts of Parojinog.

He even said that the soldiers who are off duty could hunt Parojinog down so they could get the reward.

“Kaya kung wala na kayong magawa, off duty, suroy-suroy mo diha sa bukid, hunting-in ninyo iyan kasi that’s P5 million,” Duterte said.

Duterte also said that he would pardon the colleagues of the Ardot, if they would give them the location of the councilor.

“I do not care if he’s really a complicit of Ardot. Kung kasama niya, dadalhin niya iyong ulo, abswelto ko na siya,” he said.

Department of Justice also released a lookout bulletin against Ardot.

The 2017 Ozamiz police raid is considered as one of the bloodiest anti-illegal drug raids in the history of the Philippines which resulted to the death of Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo “Aldong” Parojinog, Susan Parojinog and fourteen others.

Meanwhile, Ozamiz Vice Mayor Nova Parojinog-Echavez and Reynaldo Parojinog, Jr. who both survived the raid are now detained in PNP Custodial Center.

It seems that Mindanao is indeed rich in resources like natural gas.

Youtube User ToRo Tomas showcased how a tube connected underground is releasing a liquid that would ignite if exposed to flame.

In the video, they put a metal at the top of the tube to support a pot that they’re using for cooking.

According to the uploader, the video was recorded in a remote area in Mindanao, and the water with liquid is flowing 24/7.

Another video showed that the water in Liguasan Marsh is also igniting when exposed to flame.

Both videos garnered thousands of views from the netizens, calling the attention of the government to prioritize oil exploration in different parts of Mindanao to solve the oil problem.

Many people are already aware that there’s a natural gas underneath the soil of Southern part of the Philippines, according to the survey conducted by the U.S, thousands of hectares of area in North Cotabato, Central Mindanao, and the Sulu Sea which holds around hundreds of millions of barrels of oil.

However, the exploration of this areas has been delayed several times because of the negotiation between the Islamic groups and government.

Several groups claimed that the oil-rich lands in Mindanao are part of their ancestral domain and they want part of the earnings if the government started to build oil fields in the said areas.

Moro National Liberal Front (MNLF) Chairman Nur Misuari also believed that if the peace in Mindanao already attained, it would be easier to the people to enjoy the natural resources.

Last week, the Alegria oil and gas fields in Cebu has started its production, giving some hopes to the netizens that more exploration and drillings would happen anytime soon.

President Duterte’s signature is the only one needed now to implement the National ID System

Senator Panfilo Lacson expected that both lower and upper house would ratify the final version of the Philippine Identification System before Monday so it can finally be signed by President Rodrigo Duterte to make it a law.

This is Lacson’s statement after the bicameral conference committee approved the bill that seeking to establish an ID system that would merge all the other government IDs in a single national identification system.

“Not much difference. In fact, substantially, the HOR (House of Representatives) adopted the Senate version,” Lacson said in a text message

According to the law being pushed by Lacson, the national ID system should be known as the Philippine Identification System or Philsys.

It has three components, the PHilsys Number (PSN), the PhilID, and the PhilSys Registry.

The ID would contain the card owner’s face, full name, facial image, address, date of birth and fingerprints. It also non-transferable to ensure that it would not be abused by someone.

“The bill will allow every Filipino and resident alien of the country to be identified with the use of a PhilSys Number or PSN, a randomly generated, unique and permanent identification number which shall be the standard number assigned to each individual to be incorporated in all identification systems of government agencies,” Lacson said.

Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) is mandated to act as the registry of the Philsys, according to the bill.

The Congress would allot P2 billion for the implementation of the National ID System.

However, the National Identification System has been opposed by several lawmakers, saying that this bill would remove the Filipino’s “right to privacy.”

“The bill empowers the government to collect and retain from each and every Filipino citizen their personal information of exceptional scope and interest. The information includes, not just the basic personal data, but also ‘sensitive personal information,’ including biometrics (facial image, iris scan, full set of fingerprints), and other identifiable features of an individual,” ACT Teachers Party-List Representative Antonio Tinio said.

He believed that the national ID system would be used by President Duterte as a “powerful tool of surveillance, control and, repression over all citizens,”.

“With President Duterte’s emerging dictatorial rule, the deteriorating human rights situation, the increasing number of extrajudicial killings, martial law in Mindanao, a total war in the countryside, and the Duterte regime’s tyrannical rule, the bill may be used against those who criticize and oppose his policies,” Representative France Castro said.

“Binuhusan ng kape, pinakain ng pera!” President Duterte narrates how he beat scammers in front of PSG:

President Rodrigo Duterte, despite his old age, managed to punish the alleged scammers who claimed that he and the scammer “have the same mother.”

In his speech during his visit at Tabagon town fiesta in Cebu, Duterte narrated how he confronted and punished the individuals who used his mother’s name to sell government position when the revolutionary government already implemented.

“Oo may revolutionary government si Duterte, kung gusto mo ng posisyon magbayad ka lang,” Duterte said while narrating how the scammers trying to convince people to give them money.

But there’s a thing that made Duterte furious that he ordered his guards to hunt for them.

“Nung nabasa ko, tinawag ko na yung sundalo at sabi ko dalhin niyo yang p***** i***** yan dito. ‘Bakit daw’ Kasi ang nanay ko kagalang galang na babae pero pinalabas nila na nagkaroon ng anak sa ibang lalake,” Duterte said in Cebuano.

“Oh diba, parang pinalabas nila na yung nanay ko nangaliwa? P***** ***. Sabi ko dalhin niyo yan dito,” he added.

According to Duterte, the alleged scammers received their first punishment by receiving some punches and slaps from him; however, he wanted them not to forget the lessons that he received from the Punisher.

“Sabi ko, ‘etong kape, kumukulo pa.” Tapos sabi niya, ‘Sir, pakiusap wag kasi meron akong diabetes’. Oh may Diabetes ka? Buti sinabi mo sakin’.”

So ayon ininom niya.”

He even let one of the scammers eat paper bills to learn his lesson.

“Tapos yung isa tumitingin lang. Yung natirang kape ibinuhos ko sa mukha niya. Tapos sinabihan ko yung mga guwardiya, ‘bigyan niyo ko ng kwarta’. So sila bunot naman ng kwarta. May tig bente, may tig singkwenta, at yung isa 100 pesos. Makikita mo talaga wala silang pera kasi kulubot yung papel.

Yung barya talagang babara yan,”

After narrating, he warned the other scammers using the government to extort money that they would receive the same punishment that he did to the two guys.

He told the people that one of the scammers that he punished came from Cebu.

Duterte is known for being strict and allegedly giving cruel punishment to criminals even during his time as Mayor of Davao City.

That is the reason why he’s the favorite politician of several human rights groups.

But despite publicly speaking about how he punished criminals, his critics failed to gather any solid evidence that the former Mayor of Davao is indeed giving inhumane punishments.
