Senator Dela Rosa wants substance misuse prevention to be teach to Grade 4 students and above

Senator Ronald Dela Rosa wanted to teach the students starting from elementary level on how to avoid substance misuse.

According to Dela Rosa, the introduction of substance misuse prevention in the K-12 is not enough to stop the child from the possibility of being hooked to an addictive substance.

“Currently, the K-to-12 curriculum introduces substance misuse prevention in the 9th Grade, which ideally are teenagers aged 15 years old. This introduction, at this stage of formative years, might be too late. They might have been introduced and have started using and abusing an illegal substance,” Dela Rosa said

“Any efforts of educating them regarding the perils of substance misuse will no longer be of value,” he added.

The PNP General-turned-Senator also explained that children from the elementary level have a high risk of being experimental, and others could easily influence them.

“Adolescence is the period where individuals try to be more experimental and start using an illegal substance. As such, education about drugs and other illegal substances and its harmful effects should start before the teenage years,” the senator said.

Bato during the campaign period vowed to continue the fight he started when he was still the leader of PNP.

Erap wants to be Manila City Mayor again: “I’m still strong!”

Former President Joseph Ejercito Estrada is planning to make a political comeback despite his old age.

Estrada who’s already 82 will be 85 during the next Mayoral election in Manila, and he’s expected to face the popular Mayor Isko Moreno.

He believed that he could still match his younger opponent, comparing himself to the 92-year-old Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad.

“If I have a chance to come back, I will. I’m still strong,” Estrada said.

To prove that he’s ready to run as Manila Mayor again, he didn’t plan to sell his house in Sta. Mesa so he could still become a resident of the country’s capital.

The former Manila Mayor said that the clearing operation ordered by Isko Moreno around his City is his style to gain popularity in exchange for the livelihood of poor businesspeople.

“I could not, in conscience magpapasikat lang ako, maglilinis, pero ang daming magugutom na mahihirap.” Estrada said.

He also denied that he’s receiving bribes from so-called organizers who are allowing the illegal vendors to operate.

According to him, he would instead come back in showbusiness than receiving money from bribes.

“Imposible naman, eh di mag artista na lang ako. Mas malaki pa kikitain ko. Papatulan ko pa mahihirap na tumulong sa kin? Kalokohan ‘yan.” he said.

As of writing, Moreno is not yet giving his opinions on the plans of the veteran politician to challenge him in the next Mayoral election.

Moreno defeated Estrada who’s running for his third term as Manila Mayor with 140,000 votes.

Mayor Isko Moreno cries after Mike Enriquez tells him that Kuya Germs is watching: “Proud siya sayo!”

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno became emotional after DZBB Teleradyo host Mike Enriquez suddenly mentioned German Moreno, also known as Kuya Germs, his long-time mentor and the one who made him escape poverty.

After an hour of interview, Enriquez told Moreno that someone is watching him and the Mayor was suddenly surprised when the veteran journalist said that he’s referring to Kuya Germs.

“Kitang kita ko po ang ngiti niya, ang pangalan niya po ay Kuya Germs… ang lahat ng ito ay para sa kanya,” Enriquez said.

The Mayor quickly became emotional and tried to stop his tears from falling while Enriquez is teasing him.

Moreno explained that he’s only among the 200 talents handled by Kuya Germs, however, the artist and showbiz icon who passed away in 2016 didn’t fail to take care of him.

“Ever since lagi siyang naka focus sa akin,” Moreno said.

Enriquez believes that Kuya Germs is very proud to the latest achievement of his former talent who’s now the most powerful man in Manila.

Moreno considered Kuya Germs as his second father who saved him from poverty.

He started his showbiz career in the “That’s Entertainment” program hosted by Kuya Germs.

“He opened the doors for me and to be honest, wala ho sigurong Isko Moreno ngayon kung walang Kuya Germs. Wala akong ka talent-talent noon sa pagkanta o pagsayaw, but he took risk on me, at ‘yun ang naging susi ko upang maiahon ko ang sarili at pamilya ko sa kahirapan.” Moreno said in a past statement.

Erap explains why he cannot clear illegal vendors during his time: “A hungry stomach knows no law”

Former President and Manila Mayor Joseph Ejercito Estrada said that it’s easy for him to remove the vendors anytime like what his successor Isko Moreno is currently doing.

However, he explained that during his term as the Mayor, he’s also thinking about the welfare of the unfortunate illegal vendors if they’re going to lose their only business.

According to Estrada, he wanted to ensure that the City Government of Manila could give new businesses among the illegal vendors before clearing operations.

“Kung ‘yung sasabihin mo sa’kin na yung mga vendors nalinis, naayos lahat e hindi ko kayang gawin yun hangga’t walang kapalit na hanap-buhay sila,” Estrada said in an interview with GMA News.

“Kayang-kaya. Utusan mo lang hindi ba puwedeng sumunod sa mayor ang pulis saka mga bumbero? Orderan mo lang ‘yan. Sandali lang ‘yun, pero isipin mo naman yung damage na kawawa naman yung mga mahihirap dun lang umaasa sa pagkain nila, sabi ko nga hungry stomach knows no law,” he added.

Estrada also insisted that he’s doing cleaning operations around Manila, but not publicizing it on media like what Moreno is doing.

But according to the current Mayor of Manila, most of the illegal vendors operating around Metro Manila are not poor people because they could afford to bribe the so-called ‘organizers’ to let them operate businesses even in the middle of the streets.

“Let’s be honest, 95 % sa kanila [illegal vendors] hindi mahirap,” Moreno said.

“Alam mo kung bakit? If they can afford to pay 30,000 pesos para sa isang maliit na lamesa for rights.. rights lang to sell… they can afford 350 pesos a day and 500 pesos a day para kay “Eddie at Patty’,” he added.

“Eddie and Patty”, a slang popularized by the Mayor to refer the people receiving bribes in Manila.

Former President of Coca Cola Bottlers PH on Iceland reso against Duterte: “I am not proud to be an Icelander here in the Philippines”

A former President of Coca Cola Bottlers Philippines expressed his disappointment towards Iceland for leading the resolution to investigate the Duterte administration over alleged EJKs.

In a lengthy social media post, Mr. Bæring Olafsson, an Icelander doing businesses in the Philippines told Iceland that President Duterte is only doing his duty to protect the lives of innocent civilians against the dangers of drugs.

He labeled the resolution filed by Iceland in the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) as ‘utterly wrong’ saying that other countries should not interfere with the Philippines.

The Icelander businessman believes that not only the Philippines could experience interference from the UNHRC.

Olafsson also told his country about the developments happening in the Philippines under the Duterte administration.

How about trying to understand how much the Philippines has developed forward in the last few years with high economic growth, huge infrastructure projects going on and development of order and peace going on many fronts,” he said.

“There are full democracy and full freedom of speech and activities in all aspects of life in the Philippines and there are no Human Rights issues here at all. The only Human Rights Violations here are the Drug barons and gangs that victimize people at will and President Duterte has taken them on and has more than 80% of the population supporting him in doing so,” he added.

“I am not proud to be an Icelander here in the Philippines today. Personally, I apologize for this misstep of my Country Iceland.” he also said.

Several days ago UNHRC approved the resolution filed by Iceland urging the organization to investigate the Philippines.

As a response, the Philippine government said that they’re seriously considering cutting ties with Iceland.

However, President Duterte is also thinking about Filipino workers in Iceland that might get affected if the Philippines decided to end its friendship with the said European country.
