Paolo Contis admits asking blessing from Vic Sotto after accepting Eat Bulaga hosting: “Nagpasintabi ako”

Paolo Contis admitted that he asked Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon for their blessing after accepting the offer from Television and Production Exponents Inc. (TAPE Inc.) to become the host of Eat Bulaga.

In an interview, Paolo narrated how he sent a message to Vic Sotto thru his wife, Pauleen Luna and Joey de Leon to inform them about his decision to become one of their replacements on the noontime show.

“Nung tinanggap ko young trabaho sa ‘Eat Bulaga,’ para sa akin important na makapagpasintabi ako lalo na sa mga naging close ko,” Paolo said.

“Of course sa akin trabaho ‘yun, kailangan kong gawin. So, nagpasintabi ako kay Bossing (Vic Sotto) through Pauleen (Luna), nag-message ako kay Pauleen.” he added.

It can be recalled that Joey confirmed that some current Eat Bulaga hosts texted him.

“Actually, nag-text sa akin yung iba. ‘Oo,’ sabi ko, ‘okay lang yan,’” Joey said during the TVJ Media Day last June 21.

Paolo became one of the most popular hosts of the revamped Eat Bulaga and even used the show to respond to their critics.

However, he clarified that he’s not planning to become the next TVJ, saying that he only desires to make the televiewers happy.

Pokwang’s camp responds to Lee O’Brian’s counter affidavit: ‘He must be deported immediately from the Philippines’

Comedian Pokwang’s camp responded to the counter affidavit filed by Lee O’Brian, which related to the deportation case he was facing.

It can be recalled that Pokwang made a request to the Bureau of Immigration (BI) to deport Lee, claiming that the American actor was working in the Philippines without proper documents.

They also claimed that Lee took advantage of Pokwang during their relationship, making him an ‘undesirable alien’ in the country.

In a statement by Atty. Ralph Calinisan, legal counsel of Pokwang, maintained that Lee ‘must be deported immediately’.

“Undesirable aliens have no place in this country,” Atty. Calinisan said. “With this case we are pursuing, we are putting stop to the gross manipulation of Philippine Immigration laws,” 

As of writing, Lee has yet to respond to the statement made by Pokwang’s camp.

Last February 2023, Pokwang revealed her separation from Lee, saying that the American actor was dating another Filipina woman.

Because of this, Pokwang repeatedly criticized Lee and vowed to make the American actor accountable.

However, despite the criticisms he received, Lee maintained his ‘respect’ to his former partner and asked the Philippine Government to be fair to him, especially that Pokwang was an influential figure in the country.

American actor Lee O’Brian has filed a counter-affidavit to the deportation case filed by Pokwang against him.

On June 26, 2023, Lee went to the Bureau of Immigration (BI) office to oppose the request of his former partner to force him to leave the Philippines.

It can be remembered that Pokwang claimed that Lee was working in the Philippines even without proper documents and Visa.

However, Lee urged BI and the Philippine government to become fair in judging the case, considering Pokwang’s popularity and influence in the country.

“Given the fact that the complainant is very well-known, widely known throughout this county and very, very influential I am basically asking and pleading with the Philippine government and the Bureau of Immigration to look at my case, my deportation case fairly and with justice, according to the merits of the case and whatever I filed here I would plead with them to look at it justly,” Lee said.

Despite the charges filed by Pokwang against him, Lee said that his respect for his former partner remains.

He also thanked the fans for supporting him.

As of writing, Pokwang has yet to give any comments about the recent action made by Lee.

Actor Paolo Contis revealed that he’s already considering marrying Yen Santos after his several failed relationship with other celebrities.

In an interview, Paolo denied the rumours that he was already separated from Yen, saying that he’s even considering bringing the actress to the aisle.

The rumours started when netizens noticed that Paolo and Yen were not posting photos together in the past few weeks.

However, Paolo explained that he only wanted to make their relationship more private.

“Personal na buhay namin ‘yun, personal na lang naming ginagawa. I will never put her… I don’t want to put her in that position anymore,” Paolo said.

When asked about his future plans with Yen, Paolo said that the right time would come for him to marry his girlfriend.

“Eventually, pupunta naman du’n. Marami pa akong dapat ayusin. Oo naman, bakit hindi.” he said.

Paolo also revealed that Yen was also busy with her own things.

It can be recalled that Paolo and Yen’s relationship became controversial after netizens accused the latter of being the reason why the actor and his former partner LJ Reyes separated.

The two were also spotted together on several occasions in 2021.

Rebranded Eat Bulaga, pinangangambahan na mamaalam ng maaga sa GMA

Several rumors have been circulated on social media about the alleged ‘ultimatum’ made by GMA Network to TAPE Inc.

According to some reports, the rebranded Eat Bulaga may be replaced by another show if its sponsors ever decide to leave them.

It can be recalled that 80% of the sponsors of Eat Bulaga expressed their support to the upcoming show by Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon on TV5, including grocery chain Puregold.

Aside from its sponsors, the ratings of the ‘revamped’ Eat Bulaga might also be affected by its new competitor.

Reports indicated that the contract between TAPE Inc. and GMA Network was set to expire in December 2024.

However, the rumors claimed that they might end the contract sooner if TAPE Inc. fails to meet the expectations of the Kapuso network.

Netizens couldn’t stop the said rumor, especially since GMA Network had already welcomed Its Showtime in one of their channels, GTV.

Some observers were wondering if it’s possible for GMA Network to transfer. It’s Showtime to their main channel, and just put the revamped Eat Bulaga to GTV if ever the show didn’t perform well in the future.

It’s Showtime has been the competitor of TVJ for several years already, and fans view the Kapamilya noontime show as the only worthy competitor of the Dabarkads.

As of writing, GMA and TAPE Inc. have yet to release a statement about the said rumors.

 

 

Ryzza Mae Dizon, gusto diumanong ipatanggal sa Eat Bulaga dahil sa kanyang ‘itsura’

Veteran columnist Cristy Fermin revealed why Ryzza Mae Dizon had been set to get removed from Eat Bulaga.

In her online program ‘Showbiz Now Na’, Fermin said that the rumored reason TAPE Inc. why wanted to remove Ryzza because of her appearance.

“Alam mo sa kanilang apat, pinaka nasaktan ako kay Ryzza Mae, nasubaybayan ko kasi noong manalo siya sa Little Miss Philippines kung papaano pa siya binigyan ng isa pang programa ng TAPE Inc,” Cristy said.

“Alam niyo na lumaban ‘yung bata, na meron siyang dahilan.. na may cause ‘yung kanyang talento, pagtulong sa pamilya, nakaangat din ang kanyang talento sa klase ng programa katulad ng Eat Bulaga,” she added.

According to Cristy’s co-host Rommel Chika, Ryzza’s contribution to Eat Bulaga was undeniable. They’re wondering why TAPE Inc. wanted to remove Ryzza from the noontime show.

“Sasabihin niyo na hindi siya nararapat na maging bahagi ng programa dahil hindi siya kagandahan? Inuulit natin, ang kagandahan po ay hindi dapat ginagamit sa kahit anong larangan, maganda o kulang sa ganda ‘yung talento po muna ang dapat nating tignan, hindi ang itsura,” she stated.

Aside from Ryzza Mae, Paolo Ballesteros, Ryan Agoncillo, and Maine Mendoza were also planned to be removed from the show.

The decision to remove the said hosts became the reason for Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon, and other Dabarkads to resign together from TAPE Inc.

On July 1, the resigned Eat Bulaga Dabarkads were set to return to television.

Vlogger Jean Cacho answered the accusation from one of her customers who called her out for allegedly serving poor-quality dishes during an event on June 3, 2023.

In her Facebook post, Cacho, who owned Caches Catering Services, aired her side, answering the accusations made against her by customer Le A Lyn.

Cacho apologized to her customer for being unsatisfied with the service. However, she denied some of the claims made by Lyn about the event.

The vlogger denied that she served Spaghetti and Macaroni during the event, and those dishes came from their customer.

She also said that some of the guests just visited the venue to eat and suddenly left, making Cacho and her team confused about the counting.

Aside from false claims, Cacho also said that their customer lost the money they were supposed to use to pay them during the day of the event.

However, because of the complaint they received from Lyn, Cacho decided not to charge her disappointed customer anymore.

“Saka sila nawalan ng worth 60k na pera. Pinag overtime kame hanggang 12midnight kc hinahanap ung pambayad. pero di na nahanap. Sabi nila kinabukasan bayaran. Pero ang nangyari ang dami na nilang reklamo. At para di na lumaki pumayag na po kameng wag nila bayaran ang balance nila,” Cacho said.

She also denied the claims made by Lyn that her crew decided to eat first before serving their customers.

“HIndi gawain ng staff maunang kumain bago ang guest. Habang kumakain sila inaya nila ng maraming beses ang mga staff na kumain, kaya sila kumain. At inabutan pa ng alak. Kung alam lang ng staff na ganun mangyayari di na po sila kakain,” she stated.

Some of the photos posted by Lyn were also misleading, according to Cacho, and some of them were taken during or after the event already.

Despite the accusations, Cacho still decided to humble herself and apologize.

As of writing the photo already received thousands of reactions from the netizens.

Vhong Navarro, inamin na ‘idol’ ang TVJ: “Walang makakatumbas sa kanila”

It’s showtime host, Vhong Navarro, admitted that no one would surpass the status of legendary noontime show trio Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon.

In an interview with ABS-CBN, Vhong said that while they decided to keep their competition with the Dabarkads by transferring to GMA Network, they said that they could not match TVJ.

“Una sa lahat, walang makakatumbas sa TVJ. Idol ‘yan eh. Isa sila sa mga nagsimula ng noontime show at sila ang pinakamatagal. Kumbaga, wala diyang papalit, susunod na lang,” Vhong said.

Meanwhile, another Its Showtime host Ogie Alcasid said that they have different style of entertaining people and they’re not trying to replicate the legendary trio.

“Ang ‘Showtime’ kasi meron din kaming ibang style. Kung ang TVJ may style, meron ding style ang ‘Showtime.’” Ogie said.

“Kumbaga sa pagkain, iba ‘yung adobo at iba rin ‘yung ibang putahe. Magkaiba eh. Mahirap ikumpara. At sang-ayon din ako kay pareng Vhong na OGs talaga natin ang TVJ. Sinasaluduhan natin ‘yan, hinahangaan natin,” he added.

People were now waiting for the clash between It’s Showtime and the upcoming show of TVJ on July 1.

Meanwhile, observers that the rebranded version of Eat Bulaga would also do something so they would not be overshadowed by the two noontime shows.

Joey de Leon, asks netizens not to force TVJ to retire: “Hangga’t gustong gumalaw, pabayaan mong gumalaw”

Eat Bulaga Dabarkads Joey de Leon asked the netizens to stop forcing them to retire, saying that they still wanted to reach the 50th anniversary of Eat Bulaga.

In his Facebook Live, the 76-year-old host said that his colleagues Tito Sotto, 74, and Vic Sotto, 69, still wanted to work, not to earn money but for other people.

According to him, people should let old people work if their body wants to.

“Ang tao, hangga’t gustong gumalaw, pabayaan mong gumalaw. Kung gustong magtrabaho, pabayaan mong magtrabaho,” Joey said.

“Malalaman ‘nyo ‘yan ‘pag tanda ‘nyo, kung umabot pa kayo dun. Kaya ka nagtatrabaho ‘pag tanda mo, hindi na para sa sarili mo yun, para na ‘yan sa ibang tao. Para na ‘yan sa pamilya mo, para sa kamag-anak mo.” he added.

In 2029, Joey will be 82 years old, and fans are praying that TVJ will be healthy enough to reach the 50th anniversary of Eat Bulaga.

However, it was already expected that Dabarkads would celebrate their 50th anniversary in TV5, not in their long-time home GMA Network.

Netizens are also hoping that TVJ would win the trademark of Eat Bulaga title that currently being held by the Jalosjos family-owned TAPE Inc.

The daughter of former Sen. Kiko Pangilinan and megastar Sharon Cuneta, Miel Pangilinan, shared a heartfelt message to the LGBTQIA+ community during the celebration of ‘Pride Month.’

In her Instagram post, Miel reminded that the LGBTQIA+ community still has a lot of work to do in defending their rights in the Philippines.

“The rights to safety, the rights to marry who we want to marry, are still heavily debated on by people who make real shots that affect real people,” Miel said. “Now is the month to show who we are, to show that we exist and that nobody will silence us or make us feel ashamed of ourselves for being who we are. I am here. I exist. I have been here. I have existed. I am a queer Filipino who is proud to be a member of this beautiful, long-standing community.”

“To my closeted queers, to my out queers, to my allies, have a safe, happy, and napaka-bonggang-bonggang pride month! i love you all. love and identity have no boundaries, and exist in no binary. as long as you are happy and keeping other people around you safe, you are valid and you are loved,” she added.
