Muay Thai champion challenges the viral Ateneo student to a friendly match

The viral Ateneo high school student who’s a known Taekwondo champion got a lot of attention to the netizen after they discovered that he seems that he already made fighting other students as hobby.

Despite being a small kid, the viral Ateneo student who identified as Joaquin Montes seems that he’s ready to fight any people even they’re taller than him because of his knowledge about martial arts.

However, several athletes and martial artist condemned the acts of Montes who got featured in three viral videos showing how he fought some students of Ateneo.

One of the martial artist who seems to try Montes’ skill is Joshua Aaron III, a Muay Thai champion with the same age of the Ateneo Student.

Amid the issue faced by Montes, Joshua Aaron posted a photo of him challenging the Ateneo student to dominate him, probably in a mixed-martial arts match.

The photo of Aaron became viral on the internet, receiving cheers from different netizens and asking him to give Montes some lesson on how to properly use his knowledge in martial arts.

In his latest post, Aaron even teases his new fans on his skills on Muay Thai, showing them the video of his training.

When asked why he wants a friendly match between him and Montes, he said that he only wants to teach the Ateneo student a lesson.

“ako po yung humahamon, gusto ko lng po sya turuan ng leksyon,” he said.

Some even ride the issue and made a fake account of Joshua Montes, just to give hype to the people for the fictional fight.

Netizens even made several banners if the friendly match between Montes and Aaron is gonna happen for real.

Even several politicians and government officials already reached the news about Montes, including RJ Echiverri, describing the acts of Montes as concerning.

Echiverri also reminded the president of Ateneo, Father Jet Villarin to observe his student first before trying to criticize the government.

Meanwhile, Philippine Taekwondo Association (PTA) released a statement condemning the action of Montes against his schoolmates.

In the statement, PTA said that Taekwondo teaches people to be disciplined and not use their knowledge to fight other people for fun.

“Our association reiterates its objective to teach all Taekwondo practitioners, self-respect and respect for others,” PTA said in the statement.

Ateneo spoke about the viral video between their high school students

A video has gone viral on social media on December 19, 2018, showing a group of high school students from Ateneo De Manila University recording a fight between the two students.

In the viral video, an Ateneo High School student who’s a Taekwondo champion according to the source showed to be taunting and daring another student inside the men’s bathroom.

The student who started the incident asked the victim to choose whether to kiss his shoes or face the consequences.

After that, the suspect proceeded to strike the victim. However, the latter tried to defend himself while the other students are recording the incident and making fun of it.

Ateneo quickly released a statement saying that they “dealing with this matter seriously beginning with an immediate investigation.”

The school also urged the people to avoid sharing the video.

“We express our concern also about the risks associated with sharing the video, online and in social media groups. Not only has the privacy rights of these minors, been breached but it has also provoked some reactions that do little to help the school in dealing appropriately with the incident,” Ateneo said in their statement.

However, despite the pleading of Ateneo, the video continues to spread on social media receiving different reactions from the netizens.

Some even said that Ateneo wants to delete the video to hide the truth to the people.

Pro-Duterte blogger Sass Rogando Sasot also criticized Ateneo for giving comments about the government while they can’t even control or discipline their students.

“I cannot post the Ateneo video as it involves children. Pero Ateneo ha…may prof na kayong mahilig sa paa ng esdtudyante, tapos ngayon eh nambubogbog na estudyante sa toilet pa. Nakakaloka. Before you guys lecture us DDS folks on being civilized, pwede ba paki-civilize nyo muna bakuran ninyo?” Sasot said in her post.

Ateneo faced several controversies this year after some of their students and even a professor got involved in illegal acts.

“My hope is for tomorrow to be able to live in a world of equality for everyone, simply for us all to understand that we are human and we must make all our lives easier together,” she said. “If I can give that to the world, I don’t need to win Miss Universe, I only need to be here,” Ponce said during the segment.

However, her appearance was opposed by many people including some Filipino pageant fans, saying that the Miss Universe is only for natural-born women and Ponce should join a pageant made for transgenders.

Raissa Robles to Catriona Gray: I wonder if a reporter would dare to ask her about the casualties of Duterte’s EJK

After the victory of Catriona Gray in the 2018 Miss Universe held in Thailand, political writer and fact-checker Raissa Robles expressed her curiosity if a reporter would be brave enough to ask the beauty queen about her stance on the Duterte administration’s alleged EJK

Gray is known for being silent about his political beliefs which according to some netizens, helped her to unite the Filipino people during the Miss Universe pageant.

“When @catrionaelisa comes home, I wonder if a reporter would dare to ask her – Your heart goes out to the children of Tondo. How do you feel about children from Tondo becoming ‘collateral damage’ in the President’s war on dr***s? Do you agree they should be treated as such?” Robles tweeted.

Raissa is referring to the alleged EJKs committed by the Duterte administration in Metro Manila, including Tondo.

The tweet of Robles didn’t receive well by the netizens, asking her not to add politics in the middle of the Filipinos celebration on Catriona’s victory.

“Sumali ka muna ng Miss Universe tapos pag nanalo ka. We will ask that question so go, audition na!” @slingbagboy told Raissa Robles.

Facebook user Bubuy Balangue also express his disappointment over the tweet of Robles, calling her as a ‘prime crab’.

“As the rest of the country and the rest of the world are celebrating diversity, humanity, and equality, while there’s an overflowing vibe of positivity and oneness, here goes pseudo-writer Raissa Robles, bursting everyone’s bubble, trying to rain on Catriona’s parade.” Balangue said.

“When Catriona said she’s representing 104M Filipinos, Raissa and her minions are part of that. Didn’t she get the memo? Or at least show her the playback. Here’s the thing, no matter how much you want to dilute our victory, with your ethnicity issues and politicising Catriona’s views, you will NEVER make a dent.” he added.

After receiving thousands of criticisms, Robles clarified that she’s not questioning the advocacy of Gray who’s known for helping the children in the slums in Tondo, Manila.

“You misunderstand my tweet. I am not at all questioning what catrionaelisa has done in Tondo. I want to know her thoughts on EJKs of children, described as collateral damage. That’s all. Since her advocacy is poverty and children.” she said.

She also believed that as a beauty queen, Gray should use her power to influence people.

“EVERYTHING is political. What is politics if not the wielding of power over others? As Beauty Queen, she wields power, whether she likes it or not. Whether you like it or not. It’s a different sort of power from that of a President. But it’s still power -to sway people to action.” Robles said.

Robles is one of the critics of the policies implemented by the Duterte administration.

Senate President Sotto challenges critics: Pumunta kayo ng Mindanao at doon kayo magreklamo sa mga nakatira doon

Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III challenged the critics of the third extension of martial law in Mindanao to go to the southern part of the Philippines and tell the Mindanaoans about their complaints.

This was after several militant groups, and people from Luzon complained about the martial law extension in Mindanao, saying that it was part of the plan of the government to control the 2019 senatorial elections.

According to him, the martial law critics that go to Mindanao because he believes that’s the right place to voice out their opposition against its third extension.

They should also debate with the Mindanaoans who supported the martial law in their place.

“I wish those against ML in Mindanao to go there and say there what they are saying here,” Sotto said in a text message to the press.

“Kahit hindi tumira. Pumunta lang at duon magsalita ng kontra nila,”  he added.

The said martial law extension received widespread support from the Mindanaoans and politicians.

Voting 235-28 with one abstention, Congress granted President Rodrigo Duterte’s request to extend martial law in the South for the third time.

Several testimonies from Mindanaoan also circulated from the internet saying that they favored Martial Law because they feel safer with the presence of the military.

However, several politicians still opposed the third extension, saying that the military can do their job without martial law.

Duterte first placed Mindanao under martial law on May 23, 2017, when the Maute group tried to occupy Marawi City.

He later asked Congress for its extension until December of 2017 but requested again to extend it until the end of 2018.

The third extension of martial law received support from the lower and upper house after their meeting with the high officials of AFP.

After the extension, CPP-NPA ordered to conduct operation against the members of AFP.

Colmenares asks the authorities to treat his ‘distant’ niece fairly after being arrested for selling narco

Former Bayan Muna Representative and now Senatorial candidate Neri Colmenares finally spoke about the arrest of his niece, Teri Marina Silva Colmenares in an anti-narco operation conducted by the members of Cebu PNP.

In his official statement, Colmenares asked the cops who arrested his niece for treating her fairly and allowing her to invoke her fundamental rights.

However, he denied that he knows the local beauty queen personally, but confirmed that the alleged narco dealer is his distant relative.

“As with many Filipinos who do not know their larger extended families, I do not know Teri Colmenares personally although I suspect she is a distant relative as she hails from the Visayas. I am told that her great-grandfather and my grandfather may be cousins.” Colmenares said on his Facebook page.

“Having said that, I expect the authorities to treat her with fairness. Whether she is involved in dr*gs or not, her due process rights, like the rights of any other accused, deserve respect. Shaming, ostracizing, or k*ll*ng dr*g suspects has never been the way to deal with the dr*g problem.” he added.

He also condemned his critics for using the arrest of his niece to taint his reputation.

“It is certainly unfair and malicious to use her predicament to try to besmirch my or any person’s reputation, including those of far distant relatives who happen to share her last name,” he said.

Colmenares was arrested yesterday after being pointed out by a narco user as his source.

After being arrested, Cebu PNP said that the suspect was read and informed of her constitutional rights before she was brought to the station for proper profiling and disposition and will be filed a case in court for Violation of RA 9165.

The suspect’s uncle, Neri Colmenares is a known critic of the President’s war against narco.

“Fake news?” PCOO photos proves that Duterte didn’t let the priests leave the Balangiga bells turnover

Despite the successful return of Balangiga bells in its hometown after 117 years of being in possession of the United States, some media outlets still found negative news related to the said historical event.

After the turnover ceremony of the bells led by President Rodrigo Duterte in the town of Balangiga in Eastern Samar, several news networks reported that some members of the presidential staff tried to shoo the members of the Catholic Church in the said event.

They got the source from Fr. Edmel Raagas, claiming that Borongan Bishop Crispin Barrete Varquez and Apostolic Nuncio Gabriele Giordano Caccia were told by the members of the presidential staff to leave the event before Duterte arrived.

“Priests, including the Borongan bishop, the Archbishop of the Military Ordinariate (AMS) of the United States, and the Apostolic Nuncio, were earlier told to go out of the Balangiga plaza. Duterte only wants Archbp. Valles to be in the area. Some priests were even asked to remove their Roman collars so as not to offend the President. Also, chairs were placed in front of the priests to cover them.” Diocese of Borongan Facebook page said in their post.

However, photos and several videos show that the Bishop Barrete and and Apostolic Nuncio Caccia were present during the event and they even shook hands with the President when he arrived.

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte greets Bishop Crispin Varquez upon his arrival at the Balangiga Auditorium in Eastern Samar to witness to the official handover of the Transfer Certificate of the Balangiga Bells on December 15, 2018. Also in the photo is Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines President Archbishop Romulo Valles. SIMEON CELI JR./PRESIDENTIAL PHOTO.

In the video posted by PCOO, the camera was even pointed to the position of Apostolic Nuncio Caccia.

Several supporters of Duterte pointed out that if the President wanted to cover the priests who attended the event, why the camera of PCOO took some footages of the Catholic officials.

Several netizens criticized the alleged fake news spread by Diocese of Borongan.

“You are spreading FAKE NEWS!!! Pictures and Videos of civilians prove otherwise. Instead of fostering love and peace, you sow HATRED AND DISCOURSE! May God have mercy on your souls!” Monique Francoise wrote.

“It is a sin to lie and you are lying. If you don’t take this malicious post down I will most certainly expose you and your evil lies. We have proof that this didn’t happen.” Sherry Zimmer told the Diocese of Borongan

“Instead of being thankful to pdu30 the diocese is trying to sow anger! Grabe” Yolanda Ortiz said.

As of writing the Diocese of Borongan is not yet releasing a new statement on their claims.
