Singer Leah Navarro asks if Mindanao quake is a “punishment” to Mindanaoan

Singer Leah Navarro and former Supreme Court spokesperson Theodore Te’s discussion on Twitter has gone viral on social media and raised the eyebrows of the netizens.

On October 31, Te made a tweet asking his followers what they think the reason for the series of quakes in Mindanao.

“What’s with all the earthquakes in Mindanao?” Te asked.

One of the Twitter users who responded to Te’s tweet is Leah Navarro, who’s a known critic of President Rodrigo Duterte.

“Retribution?” Navarro said.

Navarro made a short response, but it’s already enough to receive criticisms from the netizens who are urging the other social media users not to connect politics with the Mindanao quake.

Marawi crisis spokesman and former Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) assemblyman Zia Alonto Adiong is one of the netizens who criticized Te and Navarro for being “insensitive”.

“We don’t obligate people from afar to extend help to Mindanao as this would require logistical considerations and obviously for some, travel is indeed an issue. However, we also do not expect people to be this callous in expressing such insensitive remarks,” Adiong said.

“Nobody deserves to be out in the streets asking strangers for provisions. No one. For us who have experienced displacement, this challenge is real. And for those who are lucky enough to have a place they can go home to and can eat, shower, sleep comfortably under a sturdy roof, show a bit of kindness to those who are now devoid of the comfort you’re so blessed of. (By the way, this kind of attitude is a typical “us” and “them” mindset- the very source of division in this country. This has to stop.),” he also said.

Meanwhile, Leah Navarro said that she already deleted the tweet and apologized.

“I apologized, deleted my tweet, but they just can’t find it in their hearts to forgive my one-word reply in the form of a question. Now they’ve twisted it into a declaration. Why not help Mindanao instead? Stop wasting time on me, I’m not a victim,” Leah Navarro tweeted.

Netizen to Duterte critics who uses the Mindanao quake to make fun of the President: “Lumabas na ang tunay na kulay nila!”

A netizen expressed his disappointment over the social media post of some critics of President Rodrigo Duterte, connecting the Mindanao quake to the chief executive.

On a Facebook post, Noel Landero Sarifa said that the “true color” of the critics of the President has been revealed after they brought up the Mindanao quake to make fun of Duterte.

“Thanks God because we elected President Duterte at lumabas ang tunay na mga kulay ng mga Liberal Party and their cohorts. Their insensitivity to the situation and never showing any sympathy or empathy sa mga biktima. Sasampalin ka muna bago ka aabutan ng tulong, tatanggapin mo pa ba?” Sarifa said.

Sarifa also stated that he’s now convinced that the decent personality being showed by some of the President’s critics are just for show, saying that they’re only treating the people as milking cows.

“If we haven’t elected Duterte as President, we see this people as righteous, very respectable people, but it seems that all we see is just for a show, their true color was exposed, dati wala silang paki kasi hindi sila natatapakan, ngaun kasi andami nila na di nagbabayad ng tax ng maayos at andaming illegal na gawain kaya kahit wala na sa lugar, lahat isisi kay PRRD, pati lindol,” he said.

“These people pointing fingers to PRRD ay ang mga taong naglugmok sa mga mahihirap at lalong nagpapahirap sa bayan. They dont see us, as citizens but their milking cows. They never treated as humans cause to them basura lang tayo. Kaya ganyan sila, mga false humanitarian,” he added.

The netizen included the controversial tweets of campaign manager Yoly Villanueva-Ong on his post.

Villanueva-Ong is one of the critics of the chief executive who told the supporters of the President in Mindanao that the earth wanted to consume them already because of their sins.

“Hindi pa ba NYO Ma-gest? Gusto na kayong lamunin ng lupa. Magdasal na kayo at humingi ng patawad,” Ong wrote on her now deleted tweet.

Campaign manager to supporters of President Duterte in Mindanao: “Gusto na kayong lamunin ng lupa”

The founder chairperson of Campaigns and Grey, a well-known PR and marketing company which accommodated several high profile clients in the past, has a message to the supporters of President Rodrigo Duterte in Mindanao who survived the quake.

On a Twitter post, Yoly Villanueva-Ong told the supporters of the President that the earth wanted to consume them already.

“Hindi pa ba NYO Ma-gest? Gusto na kayong lamunin ng lupa. Magdasal na kayo at humingi ng patawad,” Ong said.

Ong also made fun of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, who became viral a few days ago after claiming that he saved the people of Mindanao after stopping the quake by his words.

“Quiboloy can’t stop earthquakes. He can only stop Kappa. Duts should seriously prepare for the afterlife. It’s getting hot, hotter, hottest,” she said.

The post of Ong didn’t receive well by the netizens and she admitted that some of her friends from Mindanao didn’t like her tweet.

“I deleted my tweet, even if the intention was clearly to jolt the DDS into an awakening. My Davao friends did not feel alluded to at all. Any way to avoid any more sensitivity,” she said.

She also asked her followers how can she help the Mindanaoan.

Despite her regrets on her previous tweets, Ong was still swarmed by netizens on her social media account.

As a response to her critics, she asked them just to spend their time helping the people of Mindanao instead of focusing on criticizing her.

“To all the DDS who protest the “politicization” of the Davao quakes, please put your money where your mouth is. Donate some of your earnings to the victims and survivors. Then we all shut up and pray,” she said.

Ong worked with campaigns of former President Fidel V. Ramos, candidate Raul Roco and of former President Noynoy Aquino.

Pastrol Quiboloy on Mindanao quake : “Pasalamat kayo dahil ako nagpa-stop ng lindol!”

Kingdom of Jesus Christ founder Pastor Apollo Quiboloy said that he also experienced the 6.8 magnitude quake in Mindanao, which happened a few days ago.

Quiboloy who’s hosting his TV show “Give Us This Day” answered a netizen who said that he’s the reason why there’s a quake happening around Mindanao.

As a response, Quiboloy argued that Mindanao is facing quakes because many people in the said island are criticizing him.

“Bakit nililindol ang Mindanao? kasi maraming bashers dito,” he said.

To prove that he did something to save the people of Mindanao, Quiboloy narrated that he was inside his room resting when the quake happened, but thanks to his Godly powers, the pastor claimed that he stopped the shaking with his words.

The statement of Quiboloy was followed by the cheers of his followers who thanked him for stopping the quake.

“Amen!” the followers of Quiboloy said.

Quiboloy said that he’s planning to keep the story secret, however, one of his followers brought up the said topic to him.

The video featuring Quiboloy claims was uploaded on several social media platforms.

While most of the people made fun of Quiboloy, some of his followers still kept defending their Pastor, insisting that their leader has the power to stop the quakes.

Mayor Isko Moreno gives P100-K and permanent job to a honest pedicab boy who returns P1.2-M pesos from a Chinese National

A pedicab driver received an unexpected reward from the city government of Manila after he returned money worth P1.2-M and a luxury watch from a Chinese national.

The good samaritan identified as Benjie Ordanza, 42, a resident of Baseco compound, asked a councilor of Manila for help to return a bag containing the money, watch and passport of the Chinese national.

The Manila City government quickly assisted the pedicab driver and searched for the owner of the bag.

During a Facebook live video, Moreno presented Ordanza to the netizens to give him a reward for his honesty.

Ordanza who’s living in Baseco known for being a squatters area received praise from Moreno, saying that people like Ordanza are “very rare”.

“Sa hirap ng buhay ng tao, madali mag-asam ng hindi iyo lalo kung walang nakakakita… He could have done other things other than this (returning it). It is literally very rare especially nowadays,” Moreno told the Chinese national.

According to Moreno, the Chinese National don’t even remember where he left his money, but Ordanza still returned it.

“Pwede niyang todasin (di isauli) diba? Wala namang nakakita eh, Diyos lang ang nakatingin sa kanila?” Moreno said.

For his honesty, Mayor Isko Moreno and Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna gave a total of P100,000 to Ordanza.

He also offered a job to the good samaritan.

“Gusto mo bang magtrabaho sa gobyerno?” Moreno asked Ordanza.

“Oh sige ihahanap kita ng permanenteng trabaho,” Moreno said.

Moreno said that he would ensure that the job that the city government of Manila will help Ordonza to give his family a better life.

“Dahil sa kabutihang loob mo yan ang napapala mo,” Moreno told Ordanza.

The Mayor also gave his own jacket to Ordanza.

Moreno also gave advice to Ordanza once he started working in the government of Manila.

“Marami kang dadanasin, maraming tuksong kakaharapin, minsan ka ng hindi na tukso wala ka sa gobyerno, eto lang ang masarap sa gobyerno, naglilingkod ka na sa taumbayan, may sweldo ka pa,” Moreno said.

He also wished that other people will imitate Ordanza’s honesty.

Sen. De Lima criticizes Pres. Duterte: akala nila isa kang Mesaya, yun pala ay may sayad!

Detained Senator Leila De Lima criticized President Rodrigo DUterte after the latter offered Vice President Leni Robredo of leading the law enforcement in the country for six months.

In a press release on Tuesday, De Lima called the offer of Duterte “senseless” and only appealed his “fanatic fanbase”.

De Lima challenged the President to give all his power to the Vice President instead of just giving her the lead in law enforcement.

“Of course, the proposal has a basis in law and the Constitution, but Duterte must first relinquish his post entirely to VP Robredo, who will then be Acting President throughout the over-acting phase of Duterte’s spoiled brat persona, and not only take over law enforcement functions,” De Lima said.

“So I throwback Duterte’s challenge at him. Follow the Constitution. Transmit to the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives your written declaration that you are unable to discharge the powers and duties of your office, and let VP Robredo take over. That is the only manly way to stay true to your challenge to VP Robredo to fix what you have not been able to fix the past three years of your miserable term,” he added.

The lady Senator also said that Duterte should be the one solving the problem because he promised to solve it.

“But that is precisely the problem is it not, Mr. President? First, you are not serious about your challenge to VP Robredo to take over for 6 months. It was only made as “pa-andar” to your remaining fanatical base of mindless sycophants. Second, Hello! You were the one who promised to solve every problem of this nation that existed since the 19th century in the span of six months. You failed,” she said.

“And now you mock VP Robredo when you were the one who bragged everything is solvable with the 6-month Duterte formula of wishing that things would just fix themselves by the sheer power of your jokes and ramblings,” she added.

“Niloko mo mga tao na six months solb lahat ng problema. Ngayon hinahamon mo si VP Leni na gawin ang hindi mo nagawa? Sino ba ang nangako sa taumbayan na ayusin ang Pilipinas sa loob ng anim na buwan? Okay lang naman sa amin kahit mag-resign ka na lang.” she also said.

She called the President arrogant and crazy for putting his responsibilities to Robredo.

“But to challenge VP Robredo to succeed where you failed? Aba, wala sa usapan yan. Kasalanan ba ni VP Robredo kung saksakan ka ng yabang? Eh ang totoo pala ay wala ka naman palang lakas o kakayahan para tuparin ang iyong salita. Sinungaling ka, Mr. Duterte. Niloko mo ang 16 milyon na bumoto sa iyo. Pinapaniwala mo sila na ang kanilang binoto ay isang Mesaya, yun pala ay may sayad.” she said.

President Duterte made an offer to VP Robredo to lead the law enforcement for six months so the latter can prove that her suggestions are better than the current style of the administration.

Sen. Bato Dela Rosa urges Duterte not to push his offer to Robredo who’s “no proven track record” in fighting lawbreakers

Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa said that President Rodrigo Duterte should not offer the law enforcement helm to someone who has no experience in fighting lawbreakers.

In a statement, Dela Rosa explained that the President should continue what he’s doing, saying that he doesn’t want to see the country following the footsteps of Mexico.

“I don’t want our country to become another Mexico so [the President] should tighten his grip on the drug situation instead of leasing his power to [someone] who has no proven track record in fighting lawbreakers,” Dela Rosa said.

Meanwhile, Lacson said that only President Duterte has authority over the law enforcement officials.

“Only the President can wield sufficient authority and power over our law enforcement officials. Unless he delegates a blanket authority, including the power to hire and fire, no one else in the government bureaucracy can do it better than the Chief Executive under any other given circumstances,” Lacson said.

Duterte made an offer to Robredo a few days ago after the latter criticized the style of the government in fighting the lawbreakers in the country.

“I will surrender my powers to enforce the law. Ibigay ko sa Vice President. Ibigay ko sa kanya mga six months. Siya ang magdala. Tingnan natin kung ano mangyari. Hindi ako makialam. Sige, gusto mo? Mas bright ka? Sige. Ikaw. Subukan mo,” Duterte said.

Agot Isidro urges VP Leni Robredo: “Kung ako si VP Leni, di ko yan papatulan”

After being offline for 14 days on Twitter, actress Agot Isidro is now back on social media.

Coincidentally, people are now talking about President Rodrigo Duterte’s offer to Vice President Leni Robredo to take care of the law enforcement for six months.

Isidro, who’s a supporter of Vice President Robredo urged her idol not to accept the offer of President Duterte because the chief executive is the one who promised to clean the country from lawbreakers.

“Kung ako si VP Leni, di ko yan papatulan. Sasabihin ko lang… Ikaw ang nangako. Ikaw ang nagkalat. Ikaw ang maglinis,” Isidro said.

The actress also doubts if the current administration even wanted the Vice President to succeed if she ever accepted to become the law enforcement helm for six months.

“Because in all honesty, do you think they will let her succeed?” she said.

Isidro’s reaction seems different than the response of the other supporter of Robredo, asking the President to resign instead of giving the Vice President six months to prove herself that she’s better than the chief executive.

Meanwhile, Vice President Robredo said that she’s not taking the offer of the President seriously because the latter might back out again in his statement anytime.

Vice President Leni Robredo is wondering why President Rodrigo Duterte would pass the law enforcement powers to her.

In an interview in Iloilo City on Tuesday, Vice President Leni Robredo said that she’s unsure if her camp is going to answer President Duterte’s offer because she’s not sure if the latter is serious in his statements.

“Ako kasi, ayaw kong sagutin muna iyon kasi hindi ko alam kung gaano kaseryoso. Pero iyong sa akin lang, iyong mga mahahalaga at mga importanteng mga problema ng ating bansa, hindi naman dinadaan sa pagkapikon. Mahirap na papatulan ko, kasi hahaba lang iyong usapan. Iyong sa akin, parating solusyon iyong hinahanap natin,” Robredo said.

According to her, she’s focusing on her present role in the government, especially that she only has three years left to serve the people.

“Sa dami ng gagawin, kailangan matutunan ko i-focus kung ano iyong mga mahahalaga [at] hindi ako puwedeng ma-distract from the work that I am doing, kasi less than three years na lang ang natitira sa akin,” she said.

“Iyong paniniwala ko, kaming mga… kaming mga naninilbihan sa taumbayan, walang space para sa aming ego, walang space para sa emosyon, walang space para sa pagkapikon, kasi hindi namin magagampanan nang maayos iyong aming trabaho,” she added,

Robredo believes that the some of the President’s word should not be taken seriously.

“Sa akin kasi, wala nang value iyong maraming sinasabi, dahil alam naman natin na marami nang sinabi in the past, hindi lang dahil—hindi lang tungkol sa akin—na hindi naman naisasakatuparan,”

He also urged the President and other public officials to control their emotions especially that the country has many problems.

A few days ago, President Duterte challenged Robredo to take the role of managing the law enforcement in the country following the latter’s criticism of the style of the current government.

“I will surrender my powers to enforce the law. Ibigay ko sa Vice President. Ibigay ko sa kanya mga six months. Siya ang magdala. Tingnan natin kung ano mangyari. Hindi ako makialam. Sige, gusto mo? Mas bright ka? Sige. Ikaw. Subukan mo,” Duterte said.
