Animals in Taal volcano island finally rescued by authorities and residents

Animal survivors were finally rescued by authorities and residents two days after the Taal volcano started to spew ashes that almost wiped the life on the whole island.

In the video and photo posted on social media, it showed the remaining horses being used to transport people in Taal had been bought to the mainland via boat to receive veterinary care.

Other dogs, pigs, cows, chickens, and other animals were also retrieved by the rescuers.

Yesterday, a heartbreaking video of a horse trapped in the mud after being left by its owner in the volcano island had gone viral, and it raised the calls of the netizens to rescue the remaining animals in Taal.

The netizen even became more worried after the PDRRMO of Batangas said they will no longer be able to rescue the horses that have served the tourists, as well as the other livestock on the island.

Fortunately, on Tuesday, Taal Volcano’s activity is now calmer than the last few days that’s why the authorities and residents can now go back to the island to rescue their animals.

However, the rescuer said that they need a bigger boat to rescue all the animals on the island.

Meanwhile, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Asia already sent their team in Batangas to provide food and basic veterinary care to the affected animals.

As of writing, Taal is still in alert level 4.

Leah Navarro, Philip Lustre criticizes the laziness of President Duterte amid Taal eruption

The critics of President Rodrigo Duterte expressed their disappointment to the chief executive on Twitter amid the erption of the Taal volcano.

Singer Leah Navarro criticized the lack of uproar over “Duterte’s physical absence” several times during calamities.

Navarro then accused that the criticisms received by former President Noynoy Aquino came from bots and trolls who wanted to taint the image of the latter.

She believes that President Duterte “have no real empathy or sympathy” to the people.

“I blame the gullible and uninformed for electing them. Now, even they suffer. How much more can we endure? I’m done,” said Navarro on Twitter.

Another critic of the President, veteran journalist and public relations consultant Philip Lustre Jr. called the President lazy after missing during the Taal ashfall.

HE’S being mocked and right for his lazy ways. While Taal Volcano rambles and spews lava and other volcanic materials to trigger ashfall in Regions 3, 4 and NCR, the sluggard is nowhere to be found and felt. Asleep in his bat cave in Davao City? Most likely. What’s new? Not much,” Lustre Jr. said.

The tweets of Lustre and Navarro captured the attention of some supporters of Duterte and tried to defend the President mostly against the singer’s twitter post.

“With due respect, the President was in Davao when Taal activity happened. Flights were canceled in NAIA but he made an effort to fly in despite the harsh condition. Let’s not forget your VP who stayed in the US while her hometown was ravaged by a typhn,” netizen @marloukelly told Navarro.

Because Duterte is silently working his job without being grandstanding while you guys are using this disaster for your future political ambition and we won’t forget that!” @charliekogure remarked.

Duterte arrived at Manila on Monday, one day after the Taal volcano started to heightened its activity which caused ashfall in many provinces in the country.

“30 pesos lang yan ah?” N95 mask reaches 500 pesos each in a store in Batangas

A netizen expressed her disappointment after she bought an N95 mask in Lipa, Batangas, and it costs almost twenty times than its standard cost.

The netizen who hides her name in alias Angel said that she bought the said mask in a store in the said city. However, she was shocked after the cashier told her the amount of money she required to buy it.

Because the stocks of N95 masks are limited because of the Taal volcano ashfall, she was forced to buy it to save her brother, who has asthma from inhaling the ashes.

In the receipt, it can be seen that the masks cost 500 pesos each while its normal price is 30-50 pesos only per piece.

Meanwhile, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) already warned the business owners not to raise the prices of face masks.

“Those found to have unreasonably increased their prices for gas masks, face masks and other similar items, which act is tantamount to profiteering, shall be dealt with to the fullest extent of the law,” The DTI said.

“DTI will not hesitate to file administrative charges against unscrupulous business entities and individuals who capitalize on the consumers’ urgent need for their own profit,” it added.

President Rodrigo Duterte also ordered his officials to give free face masks especially to the people living near Taal volcano.

“Duterte has instructed government agencies to ensure that those affected by the eruption will be given assistance. He has also ordered the DOH to provide face masks especially to those who are in the affected areas,” said Communications Secretary Martin Andanar Monday.

He also warned the establishments rising the price of their mask telling them that they’re going to face the “fullest extent of the law”.
