Posibleng dahilan ng pagkawala ng funds ng ilang GCash users, ipinakita ng isang cybersecurity analyst

A cybersecurity analyst shared the possible reason why some GCash users lost their funds in their e-wallet.

On May 7-8, hundreds of netizens claimed that they lost their e-wallet funds due to unauthorized transactions made by still unknown individuals.

GCash quickly performed emergency maintenance and announced last Monday that they already resolved the issue.

Comedian Chad Kinis also claimed that he lost his funds and urged GCash to explain the issue to the public.

In a Facebook post, Art Samaniego Jr. who’s also an editor for Manila Bulletin said that GCash users lost their funds because of phishing.

Samaniego said.

He showed several photos of websites pretending to be login pages for GCash that some netizens accessed.

Some friends of Samaniego also said that it was possible that some users lost their e-wallet funds after gambling sites accessed the sensitive information of their victims.

“Yan talaga din isa sa kutob ko. Sa mga online casino and HYIP (get rich quick) sites na may gcash but iba ung domain na gamit, mukhang somehow at somepoint ung ibang victims is nakapaglogin sa ganung klaseng site and ngayon lang nagdecide magfarm yung suspect.” netizen Eli said.

“I don’t care. Social inclusion must be here now.” sabi ni Anne.

“We allow them to come in. We respect them. We give them the equal chance, the opportunity because we would love to honor every woman,” dagdag pa niya.

“We have them in the competition. It doesn’t mean they’re going to win, depends on the judges,” aniya.

“My personal opinion, which is not to be taken in a negative way, dapat may sarili silang contest. May Mrs. Universe, may Lesbian Universe, may Tranny Universe,” ani Gloria.

“There is room for so much.

People in Cambodia didn’t waste the opportunity to meet the legendary pool player Efren “Bata” Reyes during the 32nd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

On May 9, Reyes has been defeated by his opponent representing Cambodia, Woo Donghoon who’s a naturalized player from South Korea.

Despite losing the match in the men’s carom three-cushion, Reyes still gained the respect of the majority of the Cambodians who admired the pool player for his legendary record.

In some videos uploaded on social media, some fans tried to take a selfie with Reyes and asked for his autograph.

Reyes didn’t refuse the request from his foreign fans despite having a busy schedule.

It can be recalled that the same scene happened during the 31st SEA Games held in Vietnam where Reyes was also popular.

Some Cambodian fans said that they knew about Reyes because of his videos on social media.

Meanwhile, Reyes said that he was caught by surprise by his opponent.

“Pakiramdam ko, wala kaming medalya,” he added.

Despite the possibility of not winning any medal this SEA Games, fans believed that Reyes has nothing to prove anymore and thanked him for representing the country despite his old age.

“KAYA SA MGA KAKILALA KO MALAKAS MAG GIN WAG KAYO TITIGIL MALAY NYO MAKUHA NYO 100k PAMBAYAD SA HOSPITAL,” sabi ni netizen Jhay Bueno.

Chad Kinis, other netizens claim to lost their money in GCash that being sent to an EastWest bank account with 5239 ending

GCash announced emergency maintenance after hundreds of customers reported that they lost their money in their e-wallet.

Netizens couldn’t hide their concern as some victims said that their money was sent to an account registered to EastWest Bank with an ending number of 5239.

Comedian Chad Kinis is one of the celebrities who claimed to lose their money in GCash.

“Ganito din ba nangyari sa Gcash niyo? Nalimas bigla. Ano to GCash? If this is a system error sana po maayos agad. Nakakaloka,” Chad said.

In another video, Chad was hoping that only a few people were affected by the said issue.

According to him, he saw an unauthorized transaction in his e-wallet that resulted in the loss of all his money worth thousands of pesos.

“Wala man lang OTP (one-time password) na dumadating sakin na na-transfer na pala ‘yung pera ko. Umaga pa pala nangyari ‘yun,” the comedian said.

He said that he was not informed by the said transaction via SMS or email.

The comedian also talked to some victims, saying that most of the unauthorized transactions were sent to only one account from EastWest Bank.

He urged GCash to release a statement about the issue and assure the netizens that their money would be returned to their e-wallets.

“We want to be secured, we are using GCash for so long and it’s a big help samin, and ayaw sana namin na maulit ang ganitong pangyayari,” he said.

“GCash, I have still trust on you na maayos niyo po ang problema at gusot na ito at gusto lang po namin na malaman kung ano ang tunay na nangyari,” he added.

Some followers of the comedian claimed that they also lost their money.

As of writing, GCash and EastWest Bank have yet to give any statement about the issue.

Rendon Labador made criticisms against one of the most popular comedians in the Philippines, Michael V.

In his Facebook post, Rendon reacted to Bitoy’s reminder to content creators, saying that they should understand the meaning of ‘content’ first.

“The first thing any ‘content creator’ should understand is the meaning of the word: ‘content’,” Michael said.

Rendon then reacted, saying that Michael V. already lost his popularity.

The motivational speaker insisted that influencers were now more popular than mainstream media celebrities like Bitoy.

“INFLUENCERS are the new celebrities! Manahimik nalang kayo. MAINSTREAM IS DEAD!!! Social media is the NEW MAINSTREAM,” said Labador.

Netizens again couldn’t hide their disappointment at the comment of Rendon against Michael V. who’s one of the most respected celebrities in the country.

“Lods wag yan… Bitoy yan,” a netizen said.

Yung sense of humor and words of wisdom na meron sya sobrang nakaka inspire. Nakakahiya naman sayo,” another netizen commented.

Some also pointed out that Michael V remained popular as his show Pepito Manaloto was still on-air for already 13 years.

As of writing, Bitoy has yet to give any statement to the post made by Rendon.

On May 8, Vic told the media that after the disclosure of the issue, TAPE Inc. already paid his talent fee.

“Oo, it’s not a joke,” Vic said after telling the media about the paid talent fee.

He also said that they kept the issue secret for many months because they’re already used to making things private.

“Alam mo ang TVJ sanay sa ganon eh, when we started halos wala kaming sinusweldo. Mas mahalaga ‘yung prinsipyo.” he said.

However, Vic refused to talk if TVJ were already okay with the management of Tape Inc.

“I will comment about that when the right time comes,” the host said.

So gusto ko ganun din.” she said.

“Ending talaga, nag-fail, e. Wala akong magagawa, nag-fail talaga. I tried my best.” she added.
