Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) Chairperson Lala Sotto made a short statement on the criticisms being received by her father Tito Sotto and Helen Gamboa.

In a report by Bandera, Lala was asked by her publicist Pilar Mateo about her reaction to the criticisms being received by her parents.

According to Lala, Tito, and Helen were doing the same thing for 44 years in Eat Bulaga, but this was the first time that the two faced issues because of their sweetness.

“Hello tita (Pilar) naman 44 yrs na sila ganyan sa Eat Bulaga never naman nagka-issue,” Lala said.

It can be recalled that on the July 29 episode of E.A.T, Tito received criticisms on social media after he passionately expressed a gesture of love to his wife Helen, whom he married 52 years ago.

Some netizens compared the actions done by Tito to Vice Ganda and Ion Perez, so some of them urged the MTRCB head to investigate her own father.

It’s Showtime fans also speculated that the possible suspension of the Kapamilya show may benefit Tito’s noontime show, E.A.T.

They even asked Lala to resign due to the alleged conflict of interest.

As of writing, there’s still no statement coming from MTRCB about the request from It’s Showtime fans.

Motivational Speaker Rendon Labador scored another victory after his video criticizing Vice Ganda and Ion Perez had been reinstated by Facebook.

The said video, which was published on July 26 was removed by Facebook for allegedly not following community standards.

Rendon then quickly complained about Facebook’s decision, calling it unfair.

“Bakit ang mainstream pwede mag post ng kabastusan? Tapos yung pag sita at pag tatama ng mga mali ay pinipigilan? Facebook Philippines ano ang ngyayari sa Pilipinas?” said Rendon.

After several days, the said video had been republished again after a successful appeal from Rendon.

It can be recalled that Rendon went viral on social media after he called out Vice and Ion for their alleged misconduct during the ‘Isip Bata’ segment of It’s Showtime.

Several members of the LGBTQIA+ community criticized Rendon for his remarks, saying that the motivational speaker was spreading a bad impression among marginalized people.

Vice didn’t directly mention Rendon, but he tweeted about someone who was being toxic just to gain the attention of the public.

“Kung anu ano na talaga ang pinapasok at ginagawa ng ilang tao para lang sumikat no? Yung kahit magpakatoxic kakaririn nila basta makaamot lang ng relevance. How pathetic! Ang sad! It’s not mothering!” Vice tweeted.

Vice Ganda talked about malice among children during It’s Showtime’s ‘Isip Bata’ segment on August 1, 2023.

In the said episode, one of the contestants, Kulot, narrated a story about a girl who played with other children in their school and the reaction of her mother when she got informed about it.

“Sabi nung bata naglaro daw sila ng Chinese Garter sa school. Sabi nung nanay ‘bat ka naglaro makikita ‘yung panty mo’ sabi nung bata ‘tinanggal ko naman ‘yung panty ko'” Kulot said.

Vice then responded to Kulot’s story, saying that there’s nothing wrong with what happened because children have no malice in their minds.

“Among kids, there’s nothing wrong with it, kahit naman sa bahay kapag naglalaro tayo wala tayong mga salawal kasi to begin with, wala silang malisya,” said Vice.

“Pero pag lalabas tayo syempre dinadamitan tayo ng ating mga magulang para mas kumpleto ‘yung ating kasootan,” he added.

Some netizens interpreted the story shared by Kulot to show the difference between the mind of an adult and a child.

They also connected Kulot’s story to the issue being faced by Vice and his boyfriend Ion Perez who’s receiving judgment from adults because of their way of eating a cake in front of children.

Veteran columnist Cristy Fermin called out Noli de Castro for his habit of giving side comments to news about popular figures including Maine Mendoza and Arjo Atayde.

It can be remembered that De Castro went viral on social media after he made a remark connecting the bad weather to Maine and Arjo’s wedding.

“Kayo habang kinakasal, kawawa naman ‘yung mga binagyo,” said De Castro.

Fermin said that De Castro has been giving senseless side comments even in the past.

“Matagal na po itong ginagawa ni Kabayan. Laging panghuli ‘yun eh. Kapag mayroong balita tungkol sa isang personalidad o kaya’y nag-guest nang live, lagi siyang merong kino-comment… Puro dispalinghado,” said Fermin.

The columnist told De Castro that the journalist should not blame Maine and Arjo for the timing of their wedding.

“Napakatagal na panahon na po Kabayan, na inihahanda nina Congressman Arjo Atayde at Maine Mendoza itong kasal nila sa Baguio. Matagal na panahon na po ito… pero hindi po sila ang may hawak ng kalamidad sa mundo. Hindi po nila alam na makakasabay pala ng kanilang pagpapakasal itong si bagyong Egay,” she said.

“Anong kinalaman ni Arjo at ni Maine sa bagyo, na talagang nanalanta sa Norte diyan sa Baguio?! Ano naman ang kinalaman nila doon? At bakit ikukumpara ‘yung kasiyahan sa kasalan, sa nalulungkot nating mga kababayan dahil nga sa pamumuksa nitong si Egay. Anong kinalaman nun?! Bakit may kinalaman si Arjo at si Maine sa naganap na bagyo?” she added.

As of writing, De Castro has yet to address the criticism he received from the netizens.
