Dennis Padilla reminded Gerald Anderson that he should show some respect to him as the father of his girlfriend, Julia Barretto.
In an interview with Ogie Diaz, Dennis insisted that Gerald should talk to him if ever the Kapamilya actor decided to marry Julia.
“Kausapin n’ya ako. Dapat kausapin ako ni Gerald Anderson. Kailangan ‘yon,” said Dennis.
He even narrated that Gerald avoided him several times when they had a chance to meet and talk to each other.
“There was a time, si Andrew E., I think, nagkita sila sa event ni Gerald. Ang sabi ni Andrew E., ‘Gerald, kausapin mo naman si tito Dennis mo, gusto ka lang namang makausap nu’n.’ Ang sabi ni Gerald, ‘yes, tito Andrew.’ Pero hindi naganap,” Dennis narrated.
There was also a time when the two attended the same basketball event, but Gerald still didn’t talk to him even if the actor was fully aware that the father of his girlfriend was there.
He suspected that Gerald was playing safe and do not want to upset Julia or Marjorie Barretto.
“Siguro mas mahalaga sa kanya na good shot kay Marjorie, Pero sa’kin kahit bad shot siya okay lang,” he said.
As of writing, Gerald has yet to give any response to the statement made by Dennis.
It can be recalled that Dennis and Julia didn’t see each other for several years already because of personal reasons.
Dennis tried to reach his daughter many times but his efforts turned out to be a failure.
Cardi B had gone viral recently after she was recorded throwing her microphone at a fan as retaliation after the concertgoer threw a water bottle at her.
The microphone was recovered by the company that provided the equipment at Cardi B’s concert and put it to good use by selling it on eBay put the proceeds to a charity.
“I decided I’ll just sell it and maybe try to raise money for charities. So that’s why I decided, okay, I picked two charities to try to help out,” Fisher said in an interview with KNTV News Las Vegas.
Currently, the price of the microphone already reached $94,100 or P5.2-M and it was still possible for its price to increase as there are still almost six days left before the bidding ends.
In an interview, Scott Fisher who owned the microphone admitted that he didn’t like how Cardi used their equipment to strick back at her fan, saying that his job was affected by the issue.
“She treated my property like junk, and even if she wrote me a check right then and there, it still could impact my income,” he added.
Cardi has yet to respond to the move by the provider of her microphone.
Aljur Abrenica’s movie went viral on social media due to the design of its poster.
On August 2, SM Cinema announced the showing of ‘Sa Kamay ng Diyos’ a movie about Pastor Jonard Pamor and the alleged miraculous event that happened to his life.
Aside from the bad reviews it received from film experts, the poster of the movie also gained too much attention from the netizens.
According to them, the design of the poster was a little bit amateurish but they’re also fascinated by how the production of the film approved it.
“Very preschool ang design and layout lol,” netizen Cherie commented.
“The thing about movies is that, in most cases, you can judge how good it is by its poster alone. So, good luck to the producers of this one,” netizen Ian remarked.
Meanwhile, Goldwin reviews gave it a negative infinity rating over five because of its confusing storytelling.
“Ito ang life story kung saan pagkatapos mong mapanuod ay mas lalo kang maguguluhan sa kwento ng kanyang buhay. Nang umulan ng katinuan mula sa langit, wala silang nasalo. Pati Diyos ay hindi kayang iligtas ang pelikulang ito,” the film critic said.
4-division world boxing champion Nonito ‘The Filipino Flash’ Donaire was caught off guard when he was informed about the prediction by his father Nonito Donaire Sr. that he would be knocked out by his recent opponent Alexander Santiago.
It can be recalled that Donaire Sr. made the said prediction in the vlog of Filipino boxer Mike Plania, confidently saying that his son would lose against his Mexican opponent.
“Knock out tong si Donaire,” the senior Donaire said.
In his social media post, the future boxing hall-of-famer expressed his disappointment towards his father and even revealed that Donaire Sr. was training someone to defeat him.
“Wow. Just found out that my DAD was predicting I’d get koed by Santiago. That stings differently,” Donaire Jr. xweeted.

In another post, the Filipino Flash vowed not to become like his father.
“I’ll take it to ensure my kids never have to feel that I have felt. Hearing my dad say he’s training guys to beat me n teach me a lesson n predict I’m going to get koed just so he can point n laugh is painful,” he said.
“But I will lead with my heart open and vulnerable and hold a safe space of growth, love and understanding so my kids and their kids will NEVER have to feel what I’m feeling. Again Dad, I wish u nothing but happiness. I hope u find that so ur heart will be at peace,” he added.
It can be recalled that Donaire Sr. criticized his own son after the boxing champion removed him from his coaching job.
“I can’t believe that you raised a kid and now that he has more money than his parents, can afford to raised his voice toward his father who molded him of what he is right now. I was talking about Nonito Jr. The UNGRATEFUL SON. He was a jobless man until he became a world champion.” Donaire Sr. stated.
“For 24 years I feed him but when he became a world champion he left me and not even telling me that he hired another trainer.” he added.
However, Donaire Jr’s wife, Rachel said that there was a deeper reason why her husband decided to remove his father.
According to Rachel, Donaire Sr. was taking money from his son boxing allowance without the boxer’s permission.
“He tried to trap me in 2008… because he was accused of stealing. In the 2008 story, Nonito asked me if I got the per diem money because I was acting as manager, but I didn’t. I didn’t sign for it. And Nonito Jr. questioned me because I was supposed to sign for the per diem money. And I was supposed to pass it out.
“But the truth is I didn’t sign for it coz I didn’t know better. And I had to protect myself. I had to involve the promoter. I had to ask who signed for the per diem coz Jr. was accusing me of taking the per diem money, and it wasn’t true. So I asked Top Rank who signed for that per diem money because it wasn’t me. I checked.” she stated.
The head of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) Lala Sotto said that she was not aware of the criticisms being thrown by motivational speaker Rendon Labador.
In an interview on ‘Cristy Ferminute,’ several fans of the show sent their message of admiration to Lala, but they couldn’t also stop themselves from criticizing Rendon, whom they called ‘tolongges’ and ‘tamolmol’.
‘Si Tamolmol na vlogger, inggit lang kay Tito Sen (Sotto) at tita Helen (Gamboa) kasi walang love life ‘yon. Iniwan ang pamilya niya,” Julie Paras said.
Lala responded to the message from her fan, saying that she didn’t know Rendon’s existence.
“Sabi sila ng sabi ng vlogger, hindi ko po talaga alam ‘yung sinasabi na ‘yan, but may mga vloggers po kasi ako na napapanood naman pero lahat naman po sila ay sumasang ayon at nakasuporta po sa E.A.T at sa atin,” she said.
The show’s host Cristy Fermin said that it was a good decision for Lala not to be aware of Rendon because he was not worth giving attention to.
It can be recalled that Rendon went viral on social media after he addressed Lala several times to express his concern with the actions made by It’s Showtime host Vice Ganda and Ion Perez.
He also called out Lala for not investigating her father Tito and Helen for kissing during one of the episodes of E.A.T
Movie and Television Review and Classification Board chairperson Lala Sotto revealed that they already sent several ‘warnings’ to the producers of It’s Showtime even before the cake issue happened.
In an interview with Cristy Fermin, Lala said that, unlike E.A.T, It’s Showtime had already been flagged by MTRCB several times but they chose to only send ‘stern warning’.
One example of the stern warning they sent to It’s Showtime was the wardrobe malfunction that happened during Regine Tolentino’s performance on the noontime show.
It can be recalled that MTRCB didn’t mention It’s Showtime’s name during their memorandum.
“Ang programang Showtime, I hope you don’t take it personally lalo na ‘yung kanilang mga supporter dahil ako ay lumaki sa isang noontime show,” she said.
“Naiintindihan ko po ‘yan, that is why I believe that the board has been tolerant, napakahaba po ng aming pisi.. Kung alam niyo po lang ay napakadami ng notice ang pinadala namin sa kanila.
“Nakailang warning narin sila dahil mayroon silang mga violation sa lengwahe, paulit-ulit po ‘yon.. May nipslip pa, hindi naman binigyan ng notice to appear para diyan because like I’ve said, I’ve been very tolerate, I’ve been very understanding and patient. Ngunit binibigyan sila ng warning at stern warning.
“Ngayon eto po ay hindi po namin palalampasin, magalit na kung sino ang magagalit,”
She also explained the process being undergone by the complaints they were receiving.
“Mayroon kaming sariling sistema, because we are to follow a due process,” Lala explained. “So halimbawa may natanggap kaming complaint, kailangan pang i-assess at i-verify ng aming monitoring inspection unit dahil hindi naman po basta magco-complain lang ay ibig sabihin ay may katotohanan na o may paglabag na.”
“Pagkatapos ng pagve-verify ang aming monitoring inspection unit o ang MIU ay magkakaroon sariling assessment and they will it refer this to the office of the chairman, nakakarating po sa akin.
“Pagkatapos po sa akin ito po ay idederekto sa legal affairs division.. pagkatapos ng legal affairs division mapupunta ito sa adjutication committee if it deserves a notice to appear or a dialog with the producers.
She made it clear that they would only invite the producers of the show and not the hosts.
Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) Chairperson Lala Sotto insisted that there’s no reason for their agency to summon E.A.T producers after her father Tito Sotto caressed his wife Helen Gamboa on national television during the 44th- anniversary episode of their show.
In an interview with veteran columnist Cristy Fermin, Lala said that E.A.T. didn’t deserve to reserve a summon from MTRCB as she believed that her parents were just expressing love to each other.
According to her, what happened in the said episode of E.A.T was just a normal occurrence in their household.
“Lumaki po kasi akong gano’n, na halos araw araw ng buhay naming magkakapatid mapa sa telebisyon, maski saan. Mula po noong bata kami. They have been married for 55 years now,” said Lala.
She believed that his father was just being called out because of their decision to summon It’s Showtime producers.
“Nakarating din po sa’min na may konting mga reklamo na ako raw ay unfair, hindi patas, hindi ko raw pinapatawag E.A.T.,” she stated. “Wala pong dahilan para ipatawag ang E.A.T. dahil ‘di po sila deserving for a notice to appear.”
“Malinaw na walang anumang hindi angkop na nangyari sa binanggit na kilos ng aking mga magulang sa programang E.A.T. Wala rin po silang nilabag at gabay ng MTRCB kaya hindi po dapat bigyan ng Notice To Appear at hindi dapat ipatawag ang E.A.T.” she added.
It can be recalled that Rendon Labador called the attention of Lala, challenging the agency’s head to choose her duty over the family by investigating her own father.
However, Lala said that there must be enough information for them to launch an investigation.
“Hindi naman porke’t may isang nag-complain ay bibigyang patotohanan na agad ito. We act on complaints but we need complete information.” she explained.
Maine Mendoza vehemently denied that government funds would be used on her vacation with her husband, Quezon City’s 1st district Rep. Arjo Atayde in Switzerland, Italy, and Greece.
The television host called out publishing giant Inquirer for allegedly trying to portray that taxpayers’ money would be spent for their trip as Atayde was on an official travel to Europe from August 5 to 27, 2023.
They were also scheduled to attend the 76th Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland as Arjo was part of the cast of one of the entries in the award ‘Topakk’.
“Huh? Fake news na naman. This seems to be written by an uninformed and privy writer. The headline is misleading and FALSE. Arjo will go to Locarno as his film is part of the Locarno film fest. Our PERSONAL trip after that is at PERSONAL expense.. out of our OWN pockets.” said Maine.
“Next time yung magagaling nating netizens kung walang time mag fact check, huwag padalos-dalos sa pag react. mema minsan. Pati kayo nagpapaloko sa maling balita at impormasyon. Sayang ang pagiging “woke” kung lahat nalang papaniwalaan,” she added.
However, Inquirer stood by their story, saying that their report was backed by documents and information from a ‘highly-placed source’ whom they refused to name.
Meanwhile, the House of Representatives also denied that public funds would be used for Arjo and Maine’s trip.
Eat Bulaga host Buboy Villar received criticisms on social media and was accused of being disrespectful after he withdrew his microphone from an old woman who thanked Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon during the ‘G sa Gedli’ segment.
On July 29, Buboy, with his co-host Isko Moreno, was distributing prizes at an LRT station when the old woman thanked the legendary trio for the prize she received.
“Salamat po Tito, Vic and Joey,” the old woman said.
Netizens couldn’t hide their disappointment in Buboy, saying that the old woman may not be aware of the issue surrounding Eat Bulaga and TVJ.
“Buboy, hindi mo dapat ginawa yon, na alisin mo yung mike sa matanda! You should have explained to her na iba na ang mga hosts dyan sa Eat Bulaga ng Channel 7. Good manners lang naman ang kailangan mo and respeto!!!” netizen Susana said.
“Pwedeng nmn siguro paki usapan. Yung Lola in Proper way, Hindi Yung Bastusin Siya in Public televised,” netizen Alexander commented.
“Nag comedy ka na lang sana pero wag alisan ng mic. Parang sina Jose noong si Willie ang pinasalmatan nung nanalo sa sugod bahay. Sinakyan na lang nila yung pagkakamali. Natuwa lalo audience. Sabagay bagito pa ang mga ito sa hosting. Hehehe,” netizen Ricardo remarked.
Talent manager and showbiz reporter Ogie Diaz talked about ABS-CBN veteran broadcaster Noli de Castro’s side comment to Arjo Atayde and Maine Mendoza’s wedding on July 28.
It can be recalled that De Castro pointed out that while many people were affected by the bad weather, Arjo and Maine were celebrating with their friends in Baguio.
“Kayo naman habang kinakasal, kawawa naman ang binagyo,” the broadcaster said.
In his online program, Diaz and his co-hosts discussed the criticisms received by De Castro from the netizens, especially from Maine’s fans.
He even questioned if De Castro contributed to the affected families of Typhoon Egay.
“Kaya ang next question ko: Ano po ang naitulong ni Ka Noli sa mga binagyo? Ano po ang naitulong ni Ka Noli bukod sa pagbabalita at pagpapaalala sa mga kababayan natin na mag-ingat? Ano po?,” Ogie asked.
He even urged the veteran journalist to be careful with his statements and protect his legacy.
“Ay naku, Ka Noli, mas maganda na mag-iwan tayo ng magagandang legacia habang tayo ay nagkakaedad at darating ang panahon na tayo ay magpapaalam sa trabahong minahal natin pero nang may dignidad,” Ogie remarked.
Fans pointed out that the newlywed urged their guests to donate to the affected families of the bad weather instead of giving them gifts.
“In lieu of presents, we would appreciate extending your help fund a donation drive that we are planning to do after our wedding. The proceeds will be distributed to a number of indigenous groups in Luzon. We will personally share the gift you are blessing us to bless other people who need it more.” the couple said.
