Sourcing and verification
We verify claims before publishing. Where a story originates from a social media post, we review the original post directly and capture it rather than relying on secondhand descriptions. Where a public official has made a statement, we work from the recording, transcript, or official release where available.
We identify sources by name wherever possible. Where a source cannot be named, we explain why.
