Isang abogado, naniniwala na posibleng mawala sa telebisyon ang It’s Showtime at may pwede pang makulong

A lawyer believed that aside from being suspended, there was also a possibility that some people behind It’s Showtime may face serious charges.

Atty. Mark Tolentino said that the Kapamilya noontime show might face more serious things if ever they fail to convince the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) officials that they didn’t show anything indecent on their show.

“Kung hindi nila ma-explain ng maayos ‘yan, pwedeng ma-suspend ang show or kung hindi man ma-suspend, pwedeng ma-terminate and otherwise, may criminal aspect pa ‘yan,” the lawyer explained.

“Kung sino ang maging liable, mayroong kulong pa ‘yan na three months hanggang one year plus may fine pa na up to 100,000 pesos sa mga indecent at immoral show na nangyari lalo na sa isang noontime show,” he added.

According to Tolentino, MTRCB was tasked to promote ‘contemporary Filipino culture’ among the public, and showing anything against their standards might put any show in jeopardy.

The lawyer also clarified that MTRCB was giving It’s Showtime a chance to explain themselves and not yet starting any process to punish the show.

“Binigyan muna sila ng pagkakataon to explain, that’s why there was a show cause order ang in-issue ng MTRCB and to appear and to testify,” he said.

“Pag sa tingin nila ay hindi enough ‘yung kanilang explanation doon palang ‘yan ma-refer sa isang committee para there will be a proper investigation to check kung may tinatawag ba na probable cause ba na ituloy ang kaso,” he added.

Tito Sotto downplays TAPE’s renewal of Eat Bulaga trademark

E.A.T host Tito Sotto downplayed the successful renewal made by Television and Production Exponents (TAPE) Inc. on the Eat Bulaga trademark.

It can be recalled that the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) granted another 10-year ownership of Eat Bulaga and EB trademark to TAPE, meaning that they would be given the right to use the brand until 2033.

In a statement sent to the press, Sotto said that they were not focusing on the ownership of Eat Bulaga trademark even if Joey de Leon reportedly attempted to register it under his name.

According to him, it was more important for them to gain the ownership of Eat Bulaga ‘copyright,’ which according to their legal counsel, was more powerful than owning a trademark.

“Magsawa sila sa trademark basta amin ang copyright,” said Sotto.

Atty. Buko dela Cruz, the legal counsel of TVJ said that ownership of copyright was automatically given to the one who invented it.

The lawyer also said that there’s no need to register copyright ownership.

Joey claimed several times that he was the one who invented the title Eat Bulaga, while Vic Sotto was the one who wrote its theme song.

TAPE was currently facing a copyright infringement complaint from TVJ.

Zombie talks about Jose Manalo’s joke to him: “Hindi ko alam na may issue pala”

E.A.T host Tugue Zombie talked about the issue being made by several netizens about the joke that his co-host Jose Manalo said to him.

On August 5, 2023, Zombie said that he was unaware that the joke made by Jose about his skin color became a big issue and some netizens even called the attention of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) to summon the producers of E.A.T.

Motivational speaker Rendon Labador also joined the issue and even gave an ultimatum to MTRCB until Monday to summon Jose.

According to him, there’s nothing wrong with Jose’s joke about him.

“Sa pagkarinig ko, I did not feel or hear anything bad or that affects me, parang good vibes lang kaming dalawa,” said Zombie. “We’re just laughing, good vibes, we just making everybody happy.. That’s our goal,”

“Walang mali diyan okay, if I come out and tell you that what he say hurts me, then okay, pero walang mali diyan. It did not hurt me, no.. Walang mali diyan,” he added.

Zombie was wondering why the netizens became too sensitive to the said joke.

“Wag kayong maging pakialamera sa mga bagay na hindi para sayo. Mind your business please, always mind your business,” he stated.

The Nigerian comedian pointed out that he was happy with his Sugod Bahay team and he considered them as his second family.

Zombie also urged the netizens to respect Jose, saying that the veteran comedian was already making people happy for decades and he knew what was right and wrong.

“Wag kayong magiging sensitive sa mga joke namin sa Sugod Bahay,” he remarked.

Vice Ganda talks to ‘Lendon’ on It’s Showtime: “Sana masaya ka. Make your mama proud”

Comedian Vice Ganda couldn’t stop himself from addressing one of the contestants of ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan,’ whose name is ‘Lendon’.

During the August 5 episode of It’s Showtime, Vice who just came from a two-day vacation with Ion Perez was visibly surprised when he heard the name of the contestant, which almost sounded like ‘Rendon.’

It can be remembered that motivational speaker Rendon Labador called out Vice and Ion and called their actions last July 25 episode of ‘Isip Bata’ segment ‘Kahayupan.’

The other co-hosts of It’s Showtime were visibly trying to resist laughing while Vice was repeatedly talking about ‘Lendon’.

“Anong masasabi niyo kay Lendon? Para ma-motivate si Lendon,” Vice said.

Vice didn’t waste the opportunity to send his message to ‘Lendon,’ saying that he wished the happiness of the contestant.

“Lendon! Masaya ka naman? Sana, sa lahat ng ginagawa mo, ang hangad ko ay lubos na kasiyahan ng iyong puso,” said Vice.

“Dun tayo sa ikasasaya natin, Lendon. Sa lahat, sana, masaya ka. Make your mama proud,” he added.

The comedian even talked about some people who were earning little money but considered their job as honorable.

“Ang kanyang hanapbuhay ay marangal. Kaya ako talaga, saludo sa mga tricycle drivers. Ang hirap n’yan na trabaho. Hindi kalakihan ang sinusweldo pero marangal, malinis. Gano’n dapat, Lendon!” he said.

Concern citizen finds unclaimed national ID in a dumpster

The Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) was one of the biggest projects of the government under the administration of former President Rodrigo Duterte, which aimed to provide a ‘national ID’ for every Filipino in the country.

Millions of Filipinos quickly availed of the program and because of its demand, the government faced backlogs and some were forced to wait for months or even years before their IDs to arrive.

That’s why many netizens were disappointed when a concerned citizen revealed that some of the unclaimed national IDs were found in a dumpster.

In a video posted by @Joketerte on X, the concerned citizen opened several envelopes he found in a pile of trash that turned out to contain unclaimed national IDs.

The uploader showed the cards to inform their owners about the status of their national IDs.

It was possible that the owners were unaware of the status of their IDs and they probably thought were still in the process of being made.

Meanwhile, motivational speaker Rendon Labador reacted to the video and even criticized the government for dumping unclaimed IDs instead of trying to reach out to their owners.

“Good news! Ang National ID puwede ng i-claim, puntahan niyo lang po sa basurahan,” he said.

As of writing, the Philippine Statistics Office has yet to give any response to the discovery made by the concerned citizen.

Drag Race Philippines season two contestant Bernie believed that there were boundaries that shouldn’t be crossed on their craft.

In an interview with Philippine Entertainment Portal, Bernie Barrantes believed that drag artists like her should not involve religion during their performances.

“Wag na nating idamay yung mga religion. Kasi mahirap na yun,” said Bernie.

He also agreed that drag artists should still respect the beliefs of other people.

It can be remembered that another drag artist, Pura Luka Vega received a tremendous amount of criticism online after she cosplayed ‘Jesus Christ’ while singing a remixed version of Ama Namin at a party last month.

Vega had been declared persona-non-grata in different provinces in the country and also received a lawsuit from a religious group.

Despite the criticisms she received from the citizens of the Catholic-majority country, Vega refused to apologize for her performance.

Vega insisted that she never mean to make fun of the Catholic religion.

Paolo Contis, nagpa-blow out matapos makakuha ng 10 taong renewal ang Eat Bulaga

Eat Bulaga host Paolo Contis was visibly in high spirits after the successful trademark renewal of Television and Production Exponents (TAPE) Inc.

It can be recalled that the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) granted a 10-year renewal of TAPE’s trademark ownership on Eat Bulaga.

It means that TAPE would be the rightful owner of Eat Bulaga and EB trademark until 2033.

A big victory was worth celebrating and Paolo didn’t waste the opportunity to treat the Eat Bulaga family.

In an Instagram post, TAPE’s finance director Bullet Jalosjos thanked Paolo for buying a bunch of Seafood Paella platters as his treat to the staff of the longest-running noontime show.

The TAPE executive also made a short statement after they received the decision from IPOPHL.

“May awa ang Diyos,” he said.

Last week, Paolo addressed the criticisms they received from the netizens, including the ‘Fake Bulaga’ being labeled on them.

“Ang tanong, sino ba ang nagmamay-ari ng Eat Bulaga? Ang sagot, lahat po tayo kasi sa 44 years lahat po tayo ay naging bahagi nito” Paolo said.

“Hindi po maiiwasan may mga magsasabi na wala kaming ambag dahil bago lamang po kami dito, pero ang mahalaga ay lahat naman ay ginagawa namin para ipagpatuloy ang pagbibigay ng saya at tulong sa inyo,” he added.

Joey de Leon responds to TAPE’s successful renewal of Eat Bulaga trademark

E.A.T host Joey de Leon took a swipe against Television and Production Exponents (TAPE) Inc. after the production company successfully renewed its trademark on Eat Bulaga branding for another ten years.

On August 5, 2023, the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) granted the request made by TAPE Inc. to hold the Eat Bulaga and EB trademark until 2033.

Through her Instagram post, Joey made a creative reaction to another victory given to TAPE Inc.

Joey thanked TAPE Inc, claiming that the production company would promote the veteran hosts for another ten years.

“Sa kanila ang RENEWAL, sa amin ang NUMERAL! Thanks for promoting us for the next TEN years! I’m still with EB, ah ah, not that EB but with Ellen and Barbie!” said Joey.

It can be recalled that Joey reportedly filed a registration of a trademark for Eat Bulaga and its artistic elements.

Joey also claimed that he was the one who invented the title ‘Eat Bulaga’ and the rightful owner of its ‘copyright’.

The veteran comedian together with Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Jeny Ferre had filed a copyright infringement against TAPE before the Marikina Regional Trial Court to stop the production company from using Eat Bulaga title.

TVJ’s lawyer pointed out that there’s a big difference between trademark and copyright, saying that copyright was not required to be registered and that its right would automatically be given to the one who invented it.
