Veteran columnist Cristy Fermin defended Maricel Soriano after journalist Jay Sonza claimed that the ‘Diamond Star’ was spotted running out of her condominium unit without any garments in 2012.

In a Facebook post, Sonza claimed that Maricel was included on the PDEA’s watch list, which explained her alleged bizarre act.

However, Cristy believed that people should stop mentioning the past of Maricel, saying that everyone once committed a mistake during their lifetime.

Cristy’s co-host, Rommel Chika also said that most celebrities also had a dark past like Maricel.

They also believed that Maricel would not waste her time addressing the post made by Sonza.

In 2011, Maricel’s vices were disclosed by her former helpers who filed charges against her.

Award-winning actor John Arcilla gave his thoughts on whether children should support their parents once they are capable enough to work.

It can be recalled that the discussion on the said topic was fueled by Dani Barretto, who said that ‘utang na loob’ should not become a reason for parents to demand support from their children.

“Hindi ka puwedeng magkaroon ng utang na loob sa isang bagay na dapat nilang gawin para sa yo. kasi there are some people who use that against people, parang, ‘Pinaaral kita, pinaganito kita, ganyan-gayan… so, dapat ito yung binibigay mo sa akin.’” said Dani in a video she published.

However, John said that supporting their parents should not be considered an ‘obligation,’ as he believed that it should be a natural duty.

“Kasing NATURAL at NORMAL nung inaalagaan nila tayo nung maliit pa. Pinakain, dinamitan iginapang, at pinag aral.

Hundreds of netizens praised John for protecting the Filipino family culture.

Cristy Fermin’s co-host, Wendell Alvarez, claimed that GMA only gave It’s Showtime 3 months to prove that they’re worthy to stay on their network.

In their show, “Showbiz Now Na!” Wendell disclosed that It’s Showtime only received a short contract.

Cristy then added that the network wanted It’s Showtime to maintain a good rating.

Wendell then added that It’s Showtime also allegedly ordered to knock Eat Bulaga down.

There were reports that the Kapamilya noontime show was also pressured due to the challenge of maintaining a high rating.

It’s Showtime’s pilot episode on GMA last Saturday was considered successful after the surpassed their competitor Eat Bulaga’s rating.

According to GMA Network, It’s Showtime led the ratings at 6.8% vs. 4.4% of Eat Bulaga.

The good start of It’s Showtime may reduce the pressure on the hosts and the renewal of their contract was a big possibility.

Former Sexbomb dancer Rochelle Pangilinan finally disclosed some of the little-known information about their removal from Eat Bulaga.

During an interview with Toni Gonzaga, Rochelle narrated how they were surprised by the feud between their manager, Joy Cancio, and executives of Television and Production Exponents Incorporated (TAPE Inc.) which resulted in their sudden absence from Eat Bulaga.

According to Rochelle, they were still supposed to perform on Eat Bulaga despite the issues that happened, however, their love for their manager prevailed.

‘Yung ganon,” said Rochelle. So Punta kami,”

After the incident, Rochelle disclosed that Eat Bulaga quickly looked for their replacement, which Rochelle admitted to causing displeasure to their group.

Parang nagpa-contest… Tapos this time, magaganda, bata, syempre ang sakit-sakit ‘nun sa’min. Parang ‘Ah, magaganda. ‘Di naman namin kasalanan yung kayo-kayo nag-away eh.'” she stated.

The group was replaced by EB Babes in 2006.

Rochelle said that until now, there has still been no closure between them and TAPE.

Veteran columnist Cristy Fermin and her co-hosts Rommel Chika and Wendell Alvarez discussed the criticism Kathryn Bernardo received from Alden Richards fans.

Photos and videos showing the sweet moments between Kathryn and Alden went viral on social media, which disappointed the so-called remaining members of ‘AlDub Nation’.

In her April 8, 2024 episode of “Showbiz Now Na!” Cristy and her co-hosts couldn’t stop laughing at the theories published by some fans of AlDub, including the three alleged children of Alden and Maine Mendoza.

According to Cristy, the AlDub fans should stop living in their fantasy world and start accepting reality.

It can be recalled that remaining AlDub fans launched a campaign to spread their ‘truth’ about Alden and Maine.

They even urged Kathryn to stay away from Alden, saying that the Kapuso actor was already a family man.

One of the leaders of the AlDub fans club, Miila Cambal, released a video showing her evidence of Alden and Maine’s child.

However, the video was originally taken during a birthday party of one of Alden and Maine’s friends where they were designated as Godparents of the child.

The fans of the ‘Bangsamoro Pop Queen’ Shaira could now enjoy her popular single ‘Selos’ on online platforms again after they had already fixed their copyright issue with Australian singer-songwriter Lenka.

In an update, Shaira said the discussion between her camp and Lenka’s was considered peaceful.

Shaira also recognized the mistakes they committed and vowed not to repeat them again.

“Sa tulad kong isang local artist na baguhan pa lamang sa kalakaran ng musika, naging leksyon po sa amin ang mga naturang pangyayari,” she said.

She also addressed her critics and told them to be just happy and support local artists like her.

It’s not yet known if Shaira will release the same version of Selos.

Meanwhile, her other song, Forever Single was still not visible on streaming platforms after it was found to be similar to the Indonesian song “Masih Mencintainya.”

Janus del Prado addressed the artists who were in the past called other celebrities who transferred networks disloyal.

In his Instagram post, Janus highlighted the irony of what was happening now and took a swipe against the artists who made fun of celebrities who decided to switch networks.

According to them, the transfer of the celebrities he was referring to was evidence that the entertainment industry was a small world.

“At the end of the day lumipat pa din sila ng Station. Lesson. Wag magsalita ng tapos. Bilog ang mundo,” he stated.

Janus didn’t name the celebrities he referred to.

He made the said post amid the transfer of It’s Showtime to GMA Network.

One of Janus’ close friends, Bea Alonzo received criticism from some Kapamilya fans after she decided to transfer to GMA Network.

Some former ABS-CBN artists like Ai-Ai delas Alas were also vilified by some artists when she switched networks.

Karylle defended Janella Salvador amid the criticism being received by the latter after her guesting on It’s Showtime.

It can be recalled that Janella went viral on social media last April 5, after she refused a request from It’s Showtime host, Kim Chiu who asked her to give a sample of her new song.

“Sample naman Janella sa bago mong…” Kim asked Janella.

Janella quickly refused without even waiting for Kim to finish her sentence.

“Medyo paos ako today, kayo na lang. Next time, promise,” she said.

During an interview with DJ Mo Twister, Karylle said that Janella had a valid reason to refuse Kim’s request.

“It’s just that Janella is not feeling so well, and she’s preparing for her big concert, and she’s doing movie press. Siguro she’s not able to really rest and recover properly. So, we just asked her to do ‘sampol, sampol,’ but she wasn’t ready for it coz, obviously, she wants to be on tip-top shape for her concert,” she said.

“So, yeah, yeah, it was like a little moment that, you know, parang maybe to some people online, it meant something. But, you know, she just really couldn’t sing at that moment,” she added.

Karylle also believed that Janella only said “kayo nalang” to reference the moment between Anne Curtis and Kim.

It can be recalled that Janella received criticism from Kim’s fans, which prompted her to release a statement.

Amid the rumors being spread by some It’s Showtime fans, TV5 was reportedly preparing the new and bigger home for their noontime show Eat Bulaga.

It can be recalled that there were reports that TV5 was losing money on Eat Bulaga, but the rumors contradicted the move made by the network’s CEO Manny V. Pangilinan for the longest-running noontime show.

According to a report released by Bilyonaryo, Pangilinan was already preparing the Meralco Theater as the new studio for Eat Bulaga to accommodate more audiences.

Meralco Stadium has a seating capacity of 1,000, far from their current home, TV5 Studio 4.

Several videos taken during the renovation of Meralco Theater also circulated on the internet.

Eat Bulaga’s transfer to Meralco Stadium was one of the possible strategies of TV5 on the heating competition between their noontime show and GMA/ABS-CBN’s It’s Showtime.

Even if there was a rumor that Eat Bulaga was losing money, Pangilinan was known to be more focused on investments with negative earnings.

“The question is which is your favorite investment? The one that’s losing money… The problem child is the one you care for because the guy who’s very bright, you don’t worry about him,” Pangilinan said in a past media interview.
