Lala Sotto sa kanyang pagdedesisyon bilang pinuno ng MTRCB: “The basis would be my spiritual conviction”

The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) Chairperson Lala Sotto received criticism from the netizens after her past interview had been circulated on social media.

In the said interview, Sotto said that her basis for moderating content being aired on television and film was her ‘spiritual conviction’ and she would not allow any shows that would ‘disturb’ the minds of children.

“My basis would be my spiritual conviction,” said Sotto. “As long as it is causing any form of disturbance, to the mind of a child, I don’t think I can allow it.”

The video was uploaded after the MTRCB released their decision to suspend It’s Showtime for 12 airing days.

However, several netizens reminded the chair about the gestures done by her father Tito Sotto, and mother Helen Gamboa during one of the episodes of the noontime show E.A.T.

During the said episode, the veteran television host could be seen kissing his wife for 44 years.

The agency head defended the actions of her father.

“Hello tita (Pilar) naman 44 yrs na sila ganyan sa Eat Bulaga never naman nagka-issue,” Lala said.

MTRCB clarifies that their head Lala Sotto inhibits herself from voting on the decision against It’s Showtime

The Movie and Television Review and Classification (MTRCB) clarified that the 12-day airing suspension against It’s Showtime was not yet finalized and the program was still allowed to air.

In an interview, Sotto said that they could suspend It’s Showtime on September 5 after they released the decision, however, they wanted to give the Kapamilya show a chance to appeal.

But no, again, in the spirit of fairness, we’re giving them the chance kaya hindi sila suspended today. We will wait for its finality,”  said Sotto.

Sotto also denied that she was favoring the noontime show of her father Tito Sotto who produced E.A.T, one of the competitors of It’s Showtime on noontime slot.

However, she understood that some fans would really criticize her.

“No, that is not true.

She also made it clear that she inhibited herself from voting on the decision related to the fate of the Kapamilya program.

It can be recalled that several fans blamed Sotto and some accused the chair of trying to boost the ratings of E.A.T by lessening the competition.

“Well, ang una kong reaksyon of course is nakakalungkot. Even sa nagdedesisyon…” ani Villareal.

GMA Writer Suzette Doctolero wants to resign as MTRCB deputy after It’s Showtime suspension

GMA writer Suzette Doctolero wanted to remove herself as one of the deputies of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) following the decision made by the agency against It’s Showtime.

In a Facebook post, Suzette said that the 12-day suspension of It’s Showtime would be bad for television as it only removes the close competition between noontime shows.

It can be recalled that It’s Showtime was one of the competitors of E.A.T, the show of MTRCB chair Lala Sotto’s father, Tito Sotto.

“In the world of show business, competition fuels progress. Instead of resorting to extreme measures that could be perceived as undermining the rival show, I hope MTRCB aspires to promote fairness and healthy competition in the world of television. This is the only way to ensure our industry’s growth,” said Suzette.

The writer also said that as one of the deputies of MTRCB, she was against the said decision.

She also asked MTRCB to suspend her deputy card.

“As one of the many deputies of MTRCB, I strongly advocate for a review of the penalty in question (ni hindi ko rin nga ginagamit ang pagiging deputy para ireport ang anumang rival show ng show ko no at delikadeza na lang o hiya sa sarili). Thanks!” she stated.

As an MTRCB deputy, she was tasked to report any violations committed by a film or program.

They were also given a deputy card, which translated to a free movie pass in theaters.

The decision was related to the scene made by It’s Showtime hosts Vice Ganda and Ion Perez during one of the segments of the show, Isip Bata.

Ales Vodisek confirms that he is single, a year after his issue with Jorryme Lorono and bestfriend Shaira Mae Boyonas

A year after the viral love triangle issue between the Slovenian national Ales Vodisek, Jorryme Lorono, and Shaira Mae Boyonas went viral, many netizens were still asking for an update on the story of the three individuals.

In 2022, the wedding of Ales and Jorryme went viral on social media after the latter complained about the closeness between her husband and so-called ‘best friend’ Shaira Mae.

Jorryme even posted some photos taken during the wedding to prove her suspicion that Shaira was being too close to the foreign national.

The story was featured on television, where Jorryme said that she was severely affected by the closeness between Ales and Shaira.

Meanwhile, Ales left the country and accused Jorryme of being ‘crazy’.

Before 2022 ended, Ales and Jorryme announced that they were planning to file for divorce, but last February, the two announced that they were fixing their relationship already.

The two met again in Cebu City and started a vlog, which failed to become popular.

Last August, Ales then confirmed that he was single already, but still living in the Philippines.

“Single and in the Club,” said Ales.

Meanwhile, Jorryme posted her last vlog last July where she showed that they were building a house together with Ales.

There was no update about the house project as of writing.

Sen. Bato dela Rosa warns Wilfredo Gonzales not to lie: ‘Pwede kita ipakulong sa baba’

Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, the head of the senate committee handling the case of the viral traffic argument on August 8 between cyclist Allain Bandiola and former police officer Wilfredo Gonzales had a stern warning during the hearing.

On September 5, 2023, Dela Rosa interrupted Gonzales who narrated a different version of the story about the incident.

While Bandiola said that he didn’t curse at Gonzales during their encounter, the ex-cop claimed that he heard the cyclist swear at him.

Because of the difference in the story between the two involved, Dela Rosa warned Gonzales to only tell the truth.

Dela Rosa reminded Gonzales that he was also once a police officer and head of PNP.

“Ikaw Mr. Gonzales ha, I want to inform you that pag nagsinungaling ka dito you may be cited for contempt at pwede kitang ipakulong sa baba,” said Dela Rosa.

Gonzales then insisted that he would only tell the truth.

ABS-CBN’s AdProm Head and Director Eric John Salut couldn’t hide his disappointment towards the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) chair Lala Sotto.

It can be recalled that MTRCB suspended ABS-CBN for 12 airing days after they found Vice Ganda and Ion Perez’s gestures during the Isip Bata segment as ‘indecent’.

In his now-deleted tweet, Salut accused Sotto of lack of dignity for suspending It’s Showtime.

“Wala kang delicadeza Lala Sotto! Kadiri ka!” the director said.

As of writing, Sotto has yet to give any response to Salut’s message to her.

It can be recalled that several It’s Showtime fans accused Sotto of using the government agency she headed to favor her father’s program E.A.T.

“Ang laki kc ng inggit nila sa its showtime kaya naghhanap talaga sila ng butas pero go go lang showtime hinding hindi kami bbitaw forever kapamilya,” said Nenita.

“Sana maging fair ka.kasi masayadong halata yang ginagawa mo sa showtime,” netizen Ligaya commented.

That is so unfair judgment!!!!! Holier than thou! This will not stop us from supporting IT’S SHOWTIME all the way. But we will STOP SUPPORTING “SOTOS” in politics all the way,” netizen May remarked.

Meanwhile, It’s Showtime kept airing on television as they announced that they would file a Motion for Reconsideration to appeal the decision made by MTRCB.

Allain Bandiola, the cyclist who got involved in a traffic altercation along Welcome Rotonda said that the members of the Quezon City Police Department (QCPD) didn’t put ex-cop Wilfredo Gonzales under their custody because of a lack of evidence.

During the senate hearing led by Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa on September 5, Bandiola shared that he was told by an officer from QCPD that they could not apprehend Gonzales because they didn’t see the weapon used by the former cop against him.

“Sabi ni Sir Adan, ‘Hindi namin puwedeng arestuhin si Ginoong Gonzales, wala naman kaming nakitang baril’ Ganito na lang, sabi niya, tatawag tayo sa traffic sector para maayos ‘to at magawan ng incident report,” said Bandiola.

Dela Rosa said that Bandiola should insisted that Gonzales was armed during the incident.

“Dapat sinumbong mo, may baril ‘yan, kinasahan ako,” the lawmaker said.

However, Bandiola said that he insisted it to the members of QCPD, but they said that they were not allowed to put the ex-cop under their custody without further explanation.

He was also told by the cops not to tap the vehicle of other people to avoid getting in trouble.

The certain ‘Adan’ was not present during the hearing.

Bandiola also confirmed that he talked with Gonzales to settle the issue.

For the first time, the cyclist who got involved in a traffic altercation with former cop Wilfredo Gonzales appeared in public to talk about the incident.

During the senate hearing on September 5, 2023, the cyclist, Allain Bandiola said that his only mistake was he tried to slap the car of Gonzales who was trying to occupy the bike lane.

“Nung time na ‘yun nagitgit na po ako sa gilid ng bike lane so wala po akong choice dahil kapag hindi ko tinapik ‘yung kotse niya either bumagsak ako sa kotse niya o mabagsakan ko ‘yung mga pasahero na nag-aabang ng sasakyan,” said Bandiola said.

“So pagdating ko sa unahan, tumigil po si Ginoong Gonzales so dahil papunta siya ng E.Rodriguez, ako naman papunta ng Quezon Avenue, nagtapat po kaming dalawa,” he added.

Bandiola denied that he crashed his bicycle into Gonzales’ car.

The cyclist also said that it was impossible for him to damage the vehicle driven by Gonzales by just tapping it.

During that time, Bandiola decided to just ignore Gonzales, but he didn’t expect that the ex-cop would chase him.

He also insisted that he never talked back to the former police officer during their first encounter.
