She narrated that one of her friends was also addressed as ‘sir’ at a restaurant.

“I once ate at a 24-hour restaurant with a friend and another friend who’s a rather tall transwoman. The server took one look at her and called her ‘Sir’,” she said.
“I saw that she was so visibly upset that she couldn’t even order. So as her friend, I stood up for her and told the server ‘Ang ganda-ganda ng bihis niya tapos tatawagin mo lang Sir?’ The waiter quickly apologized and my friend said ‘Thank you,’” she added.
She also said that being called ‘sir’ would only give a bad feeling to a member of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Gitri also believed that people working at the hospitality industry must
“Not everyone is informed about proper pronoun usage. But if you work in the service industry, this is something you must learn. You are there to cater to all kinds of customers,” said Gitri.
“Here’s a tip: the way people present themselves is generally how they want to be addressed. So, if someone is presenting as a woman, call them ‘Maam’ or ‘Miss’. And if you’re not sure, you can always ask.” she also said.

Several LGBTQIA+ social media personalities believed that it should already be common sense for Filipinos to address transwomen as ‘ma’am.’

In a video published by ‘AFAM Hunter,’ some LGBTQIA+ personalities discussed how Filipinos mistakenly address transwomen as ‘sir.’

One of the participants of the vlog even said that Filipinos had a lack of common sense when it comes to gender sensitivity and pronouns.

“We have eyes, you have eyes… You can see this person wearing heels, a dress, long hair… diba parang common sense?” she said.

“I think some people here in the Philippines are lacking common sense,” she added.

AFAM Hunter’s page owner, Kimberly Anne, agreed with her friend’s insights.

She believed that people should learn how to think before speaking something.

“Common sense nalang ‘yon na nakita mo na ‘yung tao na ang haba ng buhok, may malaking s*so, tatawagin mo paring sir? First and foremost, diba sinasabi natin na before you speak, mag-isip ka muna,” said Kimberly.

Kimberly clarified that the video was uploaded several months ago and she only reshared it on social media amid the issue being faced by LGBTQIA+ writer Jude Bacalso.

It can be recalled that Jude went viral on social media after she allegedly asked a waiter to stand for two hours to listen on her lecture about gender sensitivity.

Ang mahalaga ngayon ay walang masaktan at nasasaktan,” she said.

However, despite their challenges, Aiko said that she would prioritize her constituents affected by the typhoon.

Talent manager Ogie Diaz made his reaction after he saw the ‘bird’ of Mark Anthony Fernandez after he watched one of the movies of the actor.

In his online program, “Showbiz Updates,” Ogie said he quickly called Mark after seeing the movie.

“Nakakaloka ka, sabi ko sa kaniya, nakita ko ‘yung ano mo, bird mo, sa ‘Scorpio Nights 3’,” said Ogie.

However, Mark clarified that they only used a prosthetic to hide his real bird.

Mark then explained why he’s now accepting mature roles, saying that it was really what he wanted even before, but his former shape prevented him from happening.

The interview went viral again after an alleged private video of Mark went viral.

Netizens then labeled Mark as the current ‘biggest artist’ of VivaMax, referencing his ‘bird’ on the video.

Meanwhile, Viva vowed to erase the video from the Internet, which might be impossible since thousands of copies had already been reproduced.

Coincidentally, Mark was also promoting a new movie under Vivamax.

Due to the coincidence of the circulation of the video, some netizens couldn’t stop speculating if it was part of Mark’s strategy to promote his project.

If the speculations were real, it seems that Mark’s strategy was effective as he had been viral on social media for days already.

One of the well-known members of the LGBTQIA+ community, KaladKaren, gave her thoughts on the issue between a waiter and a writer.

In her Facebook post, KaladKaren admitted that she was also sometimes being addressed as ‘sir’ in public, but she didn’t make any harsh response to those people.

According to her, it was a fact that people would sometimes address a member of the LGBT incorrectly.

“Sometimes, I still get called “sir”… but I know how to choose my battles. When this happens, most of the time, I just smile, be the bigger person, and let it pass,” she said.

“Sometimes I answer in jest, “ikaw naman kuya/ate, ang ganda ko naman pong sir” sabay tawanan kami or sometimes I seriously ask them, ” kapag nakabihis babae pwede tawagin lang na ‘ma’am’ or ‘miss’, if you’re not sure po, pwede sila tanungin,” she added.

She believed that it was only natural for people to make mistakes, and they must be approached correctly.

“Sadly, not 100% aware of how to use the right pronouns. As members of the community, I believe it is our responsibility to educate others about this. We have to let them understand the importance of using the right pronouns for every SOGIE. But educate properly. People commit mistakes… I do also,” she said.

“I believe, being kind makes us emphathize more with other people. Let’s love and respect one another,” she added.
