Singer Gigi de Lana admitted that she was severely affected by the untimely passing of her mother, Imelda de Lana, last May after six years of battling breast cancer.

In an interview with Toni Gonzaga, Gigi said she was considering quitting her career as a singer as she couldn’t find any purpose in performing anymore since her mother’s passing.

“Sa ngayon, hindi ko alam. Para akong naliligaw pa rin until now, lalo na noong nawala ang mom ko. Tsaka noong nawala si Mama, yung mundo ko, sobrang bigat,” said Gigi.

“Para akong inalisan ng kaluluwa sa katawan ko, kasi siya lahat every time na kumakanta ako. Siya yung motivation ko, para sa kanya lagi, until now,” she added.

According to Gigi, she was blaming herself for the deterioration of her mother.

Gigi strongly believed that her mother might still be alive if they treated her condition earlier.

“Sinisisi ko kasi ang sarili ko kung bakit siya lumala nang ganyan. Kasi wala akong pera, una, hindi ko siya mapagamot. Mag-isa lang ako, at siya lang din yung lakas ko, siya lang,” she said.

Currently, Gigi was trying to find a reason to accept her mother’s passing by thinking that her mom could now rest without the need to battle cancer.

The camp of Chloe San Jose’s biological mother ended their silence after several netizens dragged her name on the issue involving the internet celebrity and two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo.

In a statement, Atty. James Mark Padrones Ciudadano released a statement on behalf of his client, Maria Fe San Jose, to clear the story between the latter and Chloe.

According to Atty. Ciudadano, his client, was working as a staff member in the aged care services industry in Australia and not as a nanny, as other reports claimed.

Chloe has been in Australia since 2013 and obtained her Australian citizenship last February 2020.

The lawyer admitted that the relationship between his client and Chloe was rocky. The daughter wanted to live her life differently than following traditional Filipino values.

“Totoo na bago pa lamang magkakilala si Carlos at Chloe, mayroon ng problema ang kliyente ko at ang kanyang anak dahil narin sa pagkakaiba nila ng ideya tungkol sa pagpapalaki kay Chloe,” said Atty. Ciudadano in an English statement.

“Nag-umpisa yung hidwaan sa kanila noong menor pa si Chloe, ilang taon bago siya mag 18, gusto niya na siya ‘yung masusunod at hindi ‘yung ina niya. Gusto ng kliyente ko ay matutunan ng anak niya ‘yung Filipino values lalo na’t protective mother siya at gusto niya lamang ‘yung mas makakabuti kay Chloe,” he added.

However, they denied that Chloe and her mother engaged in a legal battle against each other.

They also made it clear that Marie was not in the position anymore to comment on the issues regarding her daughter as Chloe already reached the right age to decide for herself.

A lawyer disclosed the reason why Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy decided to surrender to the authorities after almost two weeks of hiding.

In a statement, Atty. Israelito Torreon said that Quiboloy couldn’t stand to see his followers to suffer from the alleged forceful takeover of PNP at the KOJC compound.

“This is to inform the Filipino People that Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy decided to surrender to the PNP/AFP because he does not want the lawless violence to continue to happen in the KOJC Compound and he could not bear to witness a second longer the sufferings that his flock was experiencing for many days,” said Torreon.

According to Torreon, Pastor was supposed to wait for legal remedies when the PNP decided to raid the compound.

Torreon clarified that Quiboloy was supposed to the authorities after finding out the best legal remedies for his case, but then, PNP insisted to enter the compound to catch him.

“Even if he has the right to await the result of the legal remedies being resorted to by his lawyers, he decided to make the ultimate sacrifice by surrendering himself to the PNP and AFP,” he also said.

Meanwhile, PNP Spokesperson PCol. Jean Fajardo insisted that the surrender of Quiboloy was a joint operation by the cops and soldiers.

She also insisted that Quiboloy was found inside the compound, contrary to the reports that the Pastor came from North Cotabato before presenting himself to the members of AFP.

The lawyer of Sonshine Media Network International (SMNI) said that Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy was not in the KOJC compound when he surrendered.

In his statement, Atty. Mark Tolentino said that Quiboloy’s surrender outside the KOJC compound disproved the claims of the PNP that the pastor was hiding underground.

“It was confirmed na walang bunker sa KOJC compound. Si Pastor galing sa bundok bago siya nag surrender sa ISAFP,” Atty. Tolentino said.

A report from Mindanao Times also confirmed that Quiboloy was in North Cotabato when he surrendered to the members of the AFP.

According to the report, Quiboloy was brought to Davao City before being transferred to a bigger plane to Manila.

It can be recalled that thousands of police were brought to the KOJC compound in Davao City to search for Quiboloy, but they failed to track the Pastor after more than two weeks of searching.

As of this writing, KOJC has yet to respond to whether they will file charges for the takeover led by Brigadier General Nicolas Torre III.

Police XI Regional Director Brigadier General Nicolas Torre was also clueless about what happened to Quiboloy, a sign that the pastor was not under PNP’s custody.

“Well I was informed by the secretary that Mr. Quiboloy has already been surrendered o nahuli na, hindi ko alam ‘yung details,” said Torre.

Surrender Agreement

It could be recalled that Quiboloy’s camp had already asked the government for a written declaration that the American government must not interfere with his case if they wanted him to surrender.

However, the government was hesitant about the said agreement, as there was an extradition treaty between the United States and the Philippines.

Police XI Regional Director Brigadier General Nicolas Torre was clueless about how the authorities caught Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.

In an interview, Torre said that he was only informed by Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos about the fate of Quiboloy.

“Well I was informed by the secretary that Mr. Quiboloy has already been surrendered o nahuli na, hindi ko alam ‘yung details,” said Torre.

According to him, it would be better for the media to ask Abalos about the details.

“Wala po akong idea sa full story niyan. I think you have the ask the secretary kung paano ang full story kung paano nahuli si Mr. Quiboloy,” he stated.

Torres’ statement raised questions about whether Quiboloy was really caught by the authorities or just surrendered.

The general led the takeover of the KOJC compound where Quiboloy was allegedly hiding.

It can be recalled that Quiboloy asked the government for a written guarantee that the American government would never interfere with his case in the Philippines.

Quiboloy was facing several charges in relation to his alleged illegal activities while running his religious group with millions of members worldwide.

Television host Luis Manzano felt honored after his interview with two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo.

After his face-to-face interview with Carlos, Luis praised his humility after he saw how humble the gymnast was despite the fame and wealth he received after winning two gold medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
