Para makatipid! Sen. Gordon suggests that health workers should wear ‘adult diapers’ to save PPEs

Hospitals in the Philippines are facing a shortage of Personal protective equipment (PPEs) that is used to protect the health workers treating COVID-19 patients from getting infected by the virus.

Philippine Red Cross chairman and Senator Richard Gordon suggested to nurses and doctors to wear adult diapers to save the supply of PPEs.

Gordon explained that doctors and nurses who are working in intensive care units (ICUs) are not allowed to wear the same PPEs when they left the room to have a toilet break.

“Mag adult diaper yung mga doctor and nurse kasi kapag nasa ICU ka at lumabas ka hindi ka makakabalik ng pareho parin ang suot mo, magbabago ka ng soot, magastos yun” Gordon said in an interview with 24 Oras on March 27.

The Philippine Senator also pointed out that nurses and doctors who treated patients in Wuhan, China have been wearing adult diapers to relieve themselves during their grueling shifts.

“When doctors and nurses are in the ward, they cannot eat, drink or go to the bathroom,” Han Ding, deputy director of Peking Union Medical College Hospital in Beijing, said in Wuhan, the South China Morning Post reported.

To relieve the shortage of PPEs, celebrities and volunteers are donating the said equipment to hospitals.

Those volunteers include fashion designer Michael Leyva and actress Angel Locsin who distributed PPEs to hospitals.

Pinapalaki lang daw ang issue! PDP-Laban will not yet investigate Sen. Pimentel’s Makati Med visit

The Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) said that they’re not going to investigate their party’s President Aquilino ‘Koko’ Pimentel III over his infamous Makati Medical Center visit.

In an interview, Surigao del Sur 2nd district Rep. Johnny Pimentel, the spokesperson of PDP-Laban said that someone in the party should raise the issue before they discuss it.

“We will not initiate any probe on him unless may mag-raise sa party, [but] I don’t think so,” Pimentel said in an interview.

The spokesperson then defended Koko, insisted that the Senator may not really aware of his condition when he visited the Makati Medical Center.

“Si Koko naman is a very straightforward person. I don’t think gagawa siya nang ganun. Tingin ko hindi niya talaga alam at that time,” he said.

“According to him, nalaman naman niya yung gabing yun 9 p.m. [Tuesday]. He was at the hospital 7 p.m., let’s give him the benefit of the doubt. Inexplain naman niya na nagpatest siya. We believe him,” he said of the senator.

Pimentel then expressed the “full support” of PDP-Laban in the controversy he’s facing right now and they believed that it would not affect the reputation of the ruling party.

He also commented that the issue was just being amplified by the netizens until it became out-of-control

“Pinalaki nang pinalaki eh,” he said.

Senator Koko was criticized by the netizens and also by the medical community for staying beside his wife despite showing symptoms for the past few days.

Makati Medical Center denounced the recent act of Koko and called it ‘irresponsible’ and gave the health workers more problem.

“His admonition for everyone to observe social distancing, enhanced community quarantine measures, washing of hands and personal hygiene are nothing but empty rhetoric because he himself violated all those,” Makati Med statement read.

After receiving a tremendous amount of criticism, Pimentel finally apologized and asked the netizens for understanding.

“I’d like to extend my apologies to the Makati Medical Center. Please tell me how I can make it up to you,” Pimentel said on a separate statement, “just allow me in the meantime to recover and of course please give focus on my wife and the two lives which are involved here, which are at stake,”

Meanwhile, a group of lawyers is preparing to file multiple cases against Koko, explaining that the Senator should not escape his accountability.

Palace reacts to officials violating quarantine procedures: “There are no exemptions for any person on these health protocols”

Malacañang Palace reacted to public officials who reportedly violated quarantine procedures and still went outside of their homes despite being persons under investigations (PUI).

According to Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo, they’re going to wait for the result of the investigation of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) once the accused were already face charges from their complainants.

They also assured the people that they’re not going to give special treatment to the public officials proven violating health protocols.

Here’s the statement from the Presidential Spokesperson:

“The Palace has received reports that certain officials who are considered persons under either investigation or monitoring, pursuant to issued guidelines, have allegedly breached protocols set by the government through the Department of Health.

The reports being aired in the open are, however, conflicting; hence, the Office of the President deems it appropriate that the same be formally evaluated by the concerned agencies upon a complaint or otherwise to ascertain the true facts behind the incidents.

The protocols set by the government for persons under investigation or monitoring, must be strictly and absolutely observed by all people falling under the said categories, regardless of their socio-political status. They are not meant to discomfort or burden anyone. They have been established to ensure that public health and safety are secured at all times. There are no exemptions for any person on these health protocols. Those holding high positions in the government are enjoined to set an example to their constituents by strictly observing them.

The equal protection clause of the Constitution imposes equal treatment to all. Any transgressor, therefore, must be dealt with in accordance with the law.”

Yesterday, two public officials, Senator Koko Pimentel and House Committee on Appropriations chairperson Eric Yap are facing possible charges for still going outside their homes while waiting for their test results.

Both of them apologized already for their mistakes and asked for understanding.

“Humihingi ako ng patawad at pag-unawa mula sa mga taong nakasalamuha ko. I was paranoid dahil may kaunting ubo akong naramdaman but I felt it was normal for me,” said Yap in a statement.

“I’d like to extend my apologies to the Makati Medical Center. Please tell me how I can make it up to you,” Pimentel said on a separate statement, “just allow me in the meantime to recover and of course please give focus on my wife and the two lives which are involved here, which are at stake,”

According to the Department of Health (DOH) PUIs should quarantine themselves while waiting for the result of their test.

S&R confirms that Senator Koko Pimentel went to their grocery to shop a week before he was tested positive

Membership shopping company S&R confirmed that Senator Aquilino ‘Koko’ Pimentel III went to their grocery to shop goods one week before he was found positive to CoViD-19.

On Thursday, March 26, the supermarket chain said that they quickly launched an investigation when several witnesses saw Pimentel shopping at S&R Bonifacio Global City on March 16, 2020.

After reviewing CCTVs, they discovered that the rumors are real and Pimentel really went to buy groceries despite the reports that he already experienced body pains and flu around on March 14.

On March 18, Pimentel started to show symptoms again by having 38-degrees Celcius fever.

According to them, they already made the necessary steps to keep their employees safe by putting all the staff possibly contacted by the Senator.

They also disinfected the whole S&R BGC to assure the erasure of the possible virus left by the Senator.

“It was confirmed that the senator was at S&R BGC on March 16, 2020. CCTV footage showed him checking out at counter 13 at exactly 1:59 PM,” the statement of S&R read.

“As a result, S&R employees who were in contact with the senator were already placed in quarantine. S&R BGC also took extra disinfection steps,” they added.

“We would like to assure S&R members that we are taking measures to maintain the safety of our members. We disinfect our stores daily and ascertain that our staff is clear before work. Shopping carts and handles, front-end belts, item shelves, and registers are kept clean every single day. Our employees are constantly reminded of the safety precautions regarding the virus,” they also said.

Unlike Makati Medical Center, S&R chose not to denounce Pimentel and only said that they’re going to “respond with compassion, prayer, and service,”

Yesterday, the public was alarmed and expressed anger after Pimentel, a senator of the Republic of the Philippines allegedly violated the quarantine protocols by going to Makati Medical Center despite waiting for his CoViD-19 test results.

The camp of the Senator insisted that Pimentel was not aware of his CoViD-19 status when he visited the hospital.

Pimentel’s staff also launched a contract tracing to find the people he encountered.

However, he said that only Filipinos who got hospitalized will be covered and not the people who chose to quarantine themselves at their homes.

Aside from the treatment, Philhealth also assured that CoViD-19 testing is free.

“Lahat ng tatamaan ng COVID-19 wala silang dapat na ilabas na pera. Lahat ng gastusin, whether public or private hospital, sasagutin ng PhilHealth,” Morales said.

“‘Yung mga nagka-quarantine sa bahay ay hindi natin sasagutin dahil unang-una hindi naman natin alam ko ano ang ginamit nila na gamot, ‘yung ginamit na process. ‘Yun ang nako-confine ‘yun lang ang masasagot ng PhilHealth.” he added.

PDP-Laban urges members to take test, revealing that Pimentel had a contact with COVID person since March 5

The Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) urged its members to take a CoViD-19 test after their President, and Senator Koko Pimentel found positive from the virus.

Surigao del Sur, 2nd District Johnny Pimentel, who’s also the Spokesperson of PDP-Laban, said that the video posted by the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) founder Joma Sison was taken on March 4.

According to Rep Johhny, the video was taken during the last meeting of PDP-Laban at the house of Senator Manny Pacquiao.

He also revealed that Pimentel had contact with a positive person on March 5.

While the meeting and the earliest known contact of Pimentel to a CoViD positive person was one day apart, the PDP-Laban Spokesperson still urged its members to take the test.

“The PDP-Laban meeting was on March 4. If I’m not mistaken, Sen. Koko had contact with a positive COVID person on March 5. But I still urge all those who attended the meeting to be tested, and I hope that everyone will be safe,” Rep. Pimentel said.

In the video posted by Sison, it was shown Pimentel socializing with high-profile guests and talking to the members of PDP-Laban including Pacquiao. He even cheek-kissed one of the guests.

While it’s not yet proven that Pimentel already contacted the virus during that day, some of the netizens who saw the video still expressed concern.

In an interview, Pimentel asked his staff to perform contact tracing as he attended birthday parties, a meeting and also a session.

It’s not yet known if the Senator is referring to the party he attended on March 4.

Meanwhile, netizens said that members of PDP-Laban should not take the CoViD-19 test if they’re not experiencing symptoms.

“Mag.quarantine muna kayo habang wala pa kayong symptoms! Wag nyong sayangin ang test kits porke easy access kayo kasi mga VIP kayo. Follow the protocol. The virus is not compassion, so why did the DOJ used compassion for that reckless senator. Let no one be exempted. The people are following rules, yet you up there are the ones causing chaos ang not following rules. Rotten Philippine politics!!!! When will we learn?” netizen Mik Balais said.

“Again only those who have severe symptoms can be tested, do self-quarantine first…do not allow them to be tested until severe symptoms exhibited by any one of them…try to understand the said protocol given by the DOH,” FA Nestor Janoras commented.

Blogger couldn’t stop crying because of Pimentel’s actions: “Mag resign ka na kung may respeto ka pa sa sarili mo”

RJ ‘Thinking Pinoy’ Nieto couldn’t handle his emotion while criticizing Senator Aquilino ‘Koko’ Pimentel, who reportedly went to Makati Medical Center to accompany his wife despite tested positive to CoViD-19.

On a 16-minute live video, Nieto slammed Pimentel for his irresponsible behavior that could cost the lives of nurses and doctors working at Makati Med.

Nieto pointed out that many doctors are losing their lives in the country while battling CoViD-19, estimating that there’s a professional medical dying for every 110 confirmed cases of the virus in the country.

That is the reason why Nieto was very alarmed by the recent actions of Pimentel.

The blogger urged PDP-Laban to expel from their political party if they wanted to keep their image clean.

“Pag hindi niyo tinangal si Koko, ay baka manalo pa ang mga dilaw sa susunod na eleksyon,” Nieto said.

“Napakairesponsable, gawain ba ng matinong tao yun?,” he added.

According to him, a blogger like him who doesn’t have any position in the government is spending all his time finding donors of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), while public officials like Pimentel, who should be doing it are only giving more problems to the health professionals.

“Hindi ko trabaho na gawin to, pero naaawa ako sa bayan ko, samantalang si Koko yun ang trabaho niya pero imbis na makatulong naka perwisyo pa,” he said.

Nieto pointed out that Pimentel forced doctors and nurses who were supposed to fight CoViD-19 to isolate themselves for 14 days, and they’re not allowed to work during the whole period of the quarantine.

After sharing the story of CoViD patient 194 to his followers, Nieto started to cry and told Pimentel that Vice President Leni Robredo was doing better than him.

Nieto then urged Pimentel to resign if he still respects himself.

“Mag retire ka na sa politika, hindi ka para diyan,” Nieto told Pimentel.

The video already reached more than 100,000 reactions and 3-M views on social media.

Lawyer preparing charges against Sen. Koko Pimentel over infamous Makati med visit

A lawyer announced that they’re preparing to file charges against Senator Aquilino ‘Koko’ Pimentel III over his infamous Makati Medical Center visit on Wednesday.

In a Facebook post, Atty. Rico Quicho of Quicho & Angeles Law told Pimentel that they’re already studying the possible complaint that could be filed against the Senator.

Quicho also asked other people to help them especially law students and lawyers.

According to him, it’s unfortunate if people would only let Pimentel escape his responsibility for the Makati med incident.

“Koko inaaral na namin at magfifile kami ng Complaint. Sa lahat ng gustong sumali, tulungan tayo. Hanep naman kung papalagpasin natin ito. Law students and lawyers unite,” Quicho said.

“Protect natin mga medical practitioners sa mga ganitong tao,” he added.

The post already reached 3,600 shares on social media as of writing.

The Department of Justice told the reporters yesterday that they’re not going to investigate Pimentel’s recent action without any complaint being filed against the senator.

“During abnormal times like this, when people are prone to commit mistakes or violations of the law, the DOJ will temper the rigor of the law with human compassion. But this is not to say that the DOJ will not act upon the filing of a proper complaint by any interested party,” said Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said.

It was reported yesterday that Pimentel went to Makati Med to accompany his wife who’s planning to undergo to give birth via caesarian section.

However, Pimentel found that he was positive from CoViD-19 while he was inside the hospital and only left the building after some advice from the doctors.

Following the incident, Makati Med denounced Pimentel’s action, calling it a breach of strict infection and containment protocols of their hospital.

“We denounce the irresponsible and reckless action of the senator. He added to the burden of a hospital trying to respond in its most competent and aggressive manner to cope with the daunting challenges of this CoViD-19 outbreak,” Makati Med statement read.

Meanwhile, blogger RJ ‘Thinking Pinoy’ Nieto listed some of the possible laws violated by Pimentel.

1. Non-disclosure of his status as PUI/COVID-19 Positive patient – Section 9(e) of RA 11332.
2. Violation of Enhanced Community Quarantine regulations – Section 8(a) of RA 9271.
3. Criminal Negligence – Article 365 of the Revised Penal Code.
4. Disobedience to Agents of a Person in Authority – Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code
5. Graft and Corruption – Section 3(e) RA 3019
6. Suspension or Expulsion as Member of the Senate for Unparliamentary Behavior
7. Disbarment or Suspension of Membership with the Philippine Bar – Code of Professional Responsibility
8. 8. Accountability and Obligation to Uphold Public Interest as Public Office
9. Civil Liability for Torts & Quasi-Delicts
10. Murder under Art 248 (4) of the Revised Penal Code

Pimentel’s camp is not yet releasing a statement over the announcement of Atty. Quicho.

Video of Pimentel attending a party and socializes with Pacquiao and high-profile guest circulates on social media

UPDATED:

A video showing Senator Aquilino ‘Koko’ Pimentel III socializing in a birthday party has recirculated on social media.

Pimentel was facing controversy after he allegedly exposed some staff of Makati Medical Center to COVID-19 after he was found positive to the virus.

On Wednesday, Founding Chairman of the Communist Party of the Philippines Joma Sison, posted a video of Pimentel while socializing with different high-profile guests.

Senator Manny Pacquiao was also spotted on the video, which seems to introduce some guests to Pimentel.

It can also be shown that Pimentel was cheek-kissing some of the guests

Sison suspected that Pimentel was already contracted COVID-19 when he attended the said party during that time.

However, even Sison couldn’t give the exact date when the video was taken as it was only sent to him by one of his social media followers or friends.

“Sabi ng nagpadala na isa ito sa dalawang parties na dinaluhan ni Koko after he was found to have Covid-19. At any rate, binatikos na siya ng isang ospital sa pagkakalat,” Sison said.

A netizen said that the video was possibly taken before the national government imposed ‘enhanced community quarantine’.

“I heard this was taken before lockdown but Pimentel was already positive of COVID-19. Selfish guy. Even MMC health workers were forced to quarantine because of him. if someone caught the virus from him and dies, can he be sued for reckless endangerment? Dapat lang diba,” netizen Marilen Alonzo.

Finally, someone informed Sison that the video was taken during a fellowship dinner consisting of PDP-LABAN members and supporters on March 4.

It was reported that Pimentel and other Senators were only exposed to a COVID-19 positive patient on March 11 so its possible that the former was not yet sick during the fellowship dinner.

UPDATE: PDP-Laban spokesman Johnny Pimentel said that Senator Koko had a contact with a positive COVID person on March 5.

He urged all the members of PDP-Laban to take a COVID-19 test.

Angel Locsin regrets endorsing Koko Pimentel and describes it as “moral sin”

Actress Angel Locsin apologized to the netizens after her video endorsing Senator Aquilino ‘Koko’ Pimentel III recirculated on social media.

On Wednesday, Angel Locsin who has reacted on Senator Koko Pimentel’s latest controversy was reminded by a netizen about her past endorsement to the latter.

Locsin made a very short, but very interesting response to the netizen.

“Eww,” Locsin twitted.

She also described her past endorsement as a “mortal sin” and got only convinced by her cousin who was the former wife of Pimentel, Jewel May Lobaton.

Locsin apologizes to the netizens for endorsing Pimentel in the past.

“Yes. Super. Mortal sin. Patawarin nyo po ako bilang ex husband po sya ng pinsan ko,” Locsin explained.

She also vowed not to repeat the same mistakes again.

“Naka-ilang eleksyon na rin naman pong hindi naulit,” she said.

Yesterday, Pimentel has gone viral on social media after he announced that he was informed to be positive for CoViD-19 while accompanying his pregnant wife in Makati Medical Center.

The hospital accused Pimentel of breaching the strict infection and containment of their delivery room complex.

Makati Med said that some doctors and nurses already voluntarily quarantined themselves after their possible contact with Pimentel.

Netizens urged Pimentel to resign for being irresponsible and a bad role model to the people.

However, the camp of Pimentel denied that the Senator was aware of his CoViD-19 status before going to the hospital.

According to some reports, Pimentel already experienced fever and body aches from March 14 to 18, however, he only took the CoViD-19 test on March 20.
