List of congressmen who voted in favor and oppose of ABS-CBN franchise

The House of Representatives on Friday rejected to give a new franchise to ABS-CBN.

“It is what it is–a denial of a privilege granted by the State because the applicant was seen as undeserving of the grant of a legislative franchise.”

Supporters of ABS-CBN expressed their support to the television network giant via social media and even asked the Congress to release the result so they could see the decision of every lawmaker who participated in the voting.

Kim Chiu reacts on the decision of the congress to reject ABS-CBN franchise: “Para saan pa at nag HEARING? Para magpahiya?

Actress Kim Chiu was saddened by the decision of the 70 members of the House of Representatives to junk the ABS-CBN franchise Friday.

Only 11 lawmakers decided to give ABS-CBN a chance to operate.

In a tweet, Chiu who’s one of the most vocal supporters of ABS-CBN asked why the Kapamilya network’s franchise was rejected despite not having any violations.

According to her, ABS-CBN representatives vowed to fix the mistakes of their company.

Because of the decision of the Congress, Chiu then questioned the purpose of the 12-day hearing launched by the Committees on Legislative Franchises and on Good Government and Public Accountability.

“Wala namang violations na nilabag, nangako naman na aayusin ang mali, para saan pa at nag HEARING??? Para saan yun? Para magpahiya? sorry for my words pero sobrang grabe lang po talaga ang nangyari,” Chiu said.

“We voted for our law makers into power hoping that they will act for the greater good. But, what happened today?… what happened to the 13 hearings? Abscbn proved na walang violations ang nagawa. Why are we experiencing this? Why now?. Why not help each other for the better?” she also said.

Some netizens reacted on Chiu’s post, asking if the actress was confident that ABS-CBN didn’t commit any violations.

“Proven at hand . !saan mo nakuhang walang violations? Kay zarate ? Have you ever heared him say any documented proceedings to assure us that what hes saying is true and a total summation of what truly the hearings have come up ? Or just a mere opinion and a self interest,” netizen @kentPhil1 asked.

“Walang violation..pero nangangako na aayusin Ang Mali.. conflicting yta yun,” @tarycha remarked.

Chiu has gone viral last month because of her statements while defending ABS-CBN.

“Sa classroom may batas, bawal lumabas, oh bawal lumabas. Pero ‘pag sinabi, ‘pag nag-comply ka na bawal na lumabas pero may ginawa ka sa pinagbabawal nila, inayos mo ‘yong law ng classroom niyo at sinumbit mo ulit ay pwede na pala ikaw lumabas,” said the actress in a Facebook live event.

Her statement became so popular that she made a song about it.

ABS-CBN claimed that there are 11,000 employees that would be affected by the closure of the Kapamilya network.

Renato Reyes slams 70 representatives who voted against ABS-CBN franchise: “Sad day for press freedom”

Renato Reyes couldn’t hide his anger after the 70 lawmakers rejected the proposal to give ABS-CBN a new franchise on Friday.

Only 11 lawmakers voted in favor of ABS-CBN.

Reyes described the actions of the lawmakers against ABS-CBN as ‘sad day for press freedom”.

“70 representatives voted to deny ABS-CBN a franchise. They call it a historic moment. We say it is an outrage and another dark day for press freedom,” Reyes said.

“Today Congress moved to deny ABS-CBN’s franchise, killing thousands of jobs and the hopes of the people. We must make a stand,” he also said.

On Friday, ABS-CBN lost another chance to operate after the Committee on Legislative Franchises recommended to reject ABS-CBN’s franchise.

According to them, their decision should not be allign to press freedom.

“By no means can this franchise application be related to press freedom, it is what it is–a denial of a privilege granted by the State because the applicant was seen as undeserving of the grant of a legislative franchise,” the document reads.

ABS-CBN was accused of violating labor laws, evading taxes, and being biased.

A Congressman also revealed that someone who claimed from ABS-CBN offered him 200-M to favor the franchise of ABS-CBN.

ABS-CBN claims that 11,000 employees would be affected by their closure.

They also said that they’re losing 30 to 35 million a day because of the order of the National Telecommunications Commission to stop their operations.

Journalist Julius Babao reminds Congressmen: “Whatever you decide on the fate of ABS-CBN will be written in our history”

Journalist Julius Babao reminded the lawmakers that their decision on the ABS-CBN franchise on Friday may be put in history books.

In a tweet, Babao said that lawmakers cannot reverse what would happen on Friday that’s why they should be careful about their decision.

“To our congressmen: Whatever you decide on the fate of ABS-CBN will be written in our history. There is no turning back. Before you cast your vote on Thursday. Thank the Lord & Say a prayer. Then ask yourself, “ Am I doing this for the good of my country or for myself?” Babao said.

He also addressed the ABS-CBN employees, saying that they should not lose hope.

“To my fellow ABS-CBN employees. Do not lose faith in God. Remember the story of Job. The Lord has taken away everything from him. But his faith never faltered. In the end he reaped all blessings from God. Be like Job in these dark times,” he stated.

Babao made the said tweets after he slammed the people opposing the continuation of ABS-CBN’s operation.

“Inuulit ko ang mga nag-aasam at nangangarap na mawalan ng trabaho ang 11,000 na manggagawa ngayong panahon ng pandemya ay mga kampon ng kadiliman,” he said.

Babao worked at ABS-CBN since 1993.

The House of Representatives would vote on the fate of the ABS-CBN franchise on Friday.

91 members and ex-officio members of the House committee on legislative franchises and Committee on good government would decide whether the Kapamilya network would get a new franchise or not.

Lawmakers also denied that they already made an unofficial tally a few days ago.

Presidential Spox Harry Roque’s wife wants a delivery driver held liable for what happened to her dog

The wife of Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque called out a logistics platform ‘transportify’ after her dog was accidentally struck by one of their riders.

Mylah Roque addressed Transportify Philippines and narrated how one of their employees ended the life of her 5-month old Siberian Husky named Trebs.

According to her, the rider approached her and quickly insisted that what happened to Trebs was not his fault, claiming that he’s maintaining a low speed before the accident happened.

However, Roque said that it’s really hard to believe the explanation of the rider, saying that her dog was too big to be hit by a slow vehicle.

Mylah Roque’s Facebook page

“He died on the spot. When confronted, the driver’s first remarks to me were, “Oo ako ang driver. Wala akong kasalanan, ang bagal-bagal kong magmaneho.” said Roque.

“The problem is my dog was a husky who was huge at 5-months old. He’s already as high as my waist. No driver driving slow would miss him. My helper was rushing after Trebs and she, along with a few neighbors, saw how fast the driver was going down the slope,” she added.

Roque even claimed that the driver recorded her while she’s grieving for what happened to Trebs.

“A village security guard who came saw the Transportify driver recording me with his cellphone as I was clutching my dead dog. His head was lolling. I had blood all over. I am not a loud person but on this afternoon I knew my cries could be heard all over the neighborhood,” she said.

“It was the guard who told the driver to stop, “ikaw na nga ang naka-agrabiyado, ikaw pa ang nagre-record. Bawal yan.” I did not even know the driver was recording my grief,” she added.

She then asked Transportify to answer her questions.

“I know maintaining a livelihood is especially hard during these times. But I address this question to Transportify. Should my empathy to your driver’s situation absolve him of responsibility? Why was your driver driving so fast in a residential area and at a sloping road at that? What was your driver planning to do with the video of me crying over my dog?”

Mylah Roque’s Facebook page

“My veterinarian friend told me, “Walang kalaban-laban yung aso sa kanya, siya ang may hawak ng manibela.” I cannot have Trebs back. Transportify, I don’t want this kind of harm to happen to another pet, or a human being,”

As a response, Transportify vowed to investigate the rider involved in the accident.

“We deeply regret what has transpired and commit to conducting a thorough investigation. Sanctions will be applied accordingly for any reckless or improper behavior that is discovered,” Transporitfy Philippines wrote.

It’s none of our business kasi pera nila yun! Agot Isidro receives a response from Jinkee Pacquiao’s camp

Actress Agot Isidro received a response from the business manager of the Pacquiao family after the former slammed Jinkee Pacquiao for posting her expensive belongings on social media amid crisis in the Philippines.

Arnold Vegafria wrote an open letter to Isidro and told the actress that Mrs. Pacquiao could use the money they earned to buy anything they wanted.

Vegafria also pointed out that Jinkee was a businesswoman who worked hard to become successful and not only relying on the earnings of her husband who’s the only eight-division world champion boxer.

“What’s your issue, Agot? @agotisidro What Jinkee @jinkeepacquiao posts on her Instagram page is not for us to judge,”

“What she does with her family’s hard-earned money is none of our business, because such bountiful blessings are just the fruit of her husband’s esteemed legacy as an iconic Filipino boxing legend and businessman, and are not stained in any way by graft or corruption,”

“Jinkee has also worked her way up as a smart and prudent businesswoman with several investments under her good name,”

According to him, Isidro may be clueless about how many people were helped by the Pacquiaos in the past, because the said family was not always announcing their philanthropic activities in public.

“You probably have no idea as to the extent by which the good Senator, Manny Pacquiao and his family, have done so much to help our countrymen, not just during the past three months during the height of the pandemic, but even way before when he was still working hard to achieve his iconic stature,”

“You probably don’t see or hear much about it because they are not the types to brag about their noble and charitable deeds for other people to see. They would rather do their humble acts of generosity away from the eyes of the media or the glare of the spotlight,”

He also urged Isidro to be sensitive enough after she called Mrs. Pacquiao a “nouveau”.

Nouveau is a derogatory term used to describe people who only got their wealth within their own generation and not from inheritance.

“The Pacquiaos have worked hard over the past decades to achieve their current standing in society, and despite their status, they have remained humble, low-key, and generous to whoever asks for their help. Their fervent desire to serve their countrymen continues to inspire them to pursue higher education and excel in their public service endeavors,”

A post shared by Arnold L. Vegafria (@arnold_vegafria) on

Yesterday, Agot received criticisms on social media after she asked Mrs. Pacquiao who posted her luxury bikes on social media for a little ‘sensitivity‘.

“Alam namin na marami kayong pera. At kung ano ang gusto ninyong gawin sa pera na yun, wala kaming pakialam,” Isidro said.

“Pero marami rin ang walang trabaho at nagkukumahog humanap ng pera para may pakain sa kanilang pamilya. Puede ba, konting sensitivity man lang?” she added.

Netizens couldn’t stop themselves from questioning Isidro for her reason why she’s interfering with Mrs. Pacquiao’s personal decisions.

“Maka reklamo ng post ng may post, nakatulong ka teh in the level of the Pacquiaos’ help? Maka call out, na call out mo na si Sharon sa “You don’t have Rolex because you’re bad?” Hindi, kasi kakampi nyo,” one blogger asked Isidro.

Nakalaya na? Family welcome Ann Shiela Montes Belarmino after she gained her freedom

The suspect behind Jang Lucero slay was reportedly gained her freedom after her charges against her were dismissed.

In a post netizen, Omar De Leon claimed that the charges against Ann Sheila Montes Belarmino were dismissed and now removed from the custody of the Philippine National Police after being there for two days.

Belarmino was one of the six suspects on Lucero’s slay.

De Leon thanked the people who believed that Belarmino was innocent.

“JANG LUCERO CASE DISMISSED AGAINST Ann Shiela Montes Belarmino. Tama kayo ng nabasa! Salamat ng marami sa lahat ng naniwalang wala syang kinalaman,”

“Pinakamabisa talaga ang panalangin. Hindi tayo nagkamali sa pagkakakilala kay Ann Belarmino na hindi nya kayang gawin yung mga ibinibintang sakanya at isa lamang syang biktima,”

“We’re now all waiting for the true justice for Jang Lucero and her family. The truth will always prevail,”

“Thank you so much, Atty. Joel Huertas for the big help and support for us! The whole family extends their thanks to you. God bless!”

To prove his claims, De Leon posted a photo of Belarmino family, waiting for the arrival of Ann Sheila.

In another post, De Leon described Belarmino as a sweet girl.

“Isang batang napakalambing na lahat kaming tunay na nakakakilala sayo, naniniwalang hindi mo kayang gawin yung bagay na ipinatong sa balikat mo ngayon. Wala naman talagang taong perpekto at lahat tayo nagkakamali. Pero ang makita kang nahihirapan sa bagay na walang malinaw na dahilan kung bakit nila nagagawa sayo to?” De Leon said.

She was put under the custody of PNP Calabarzon on Wednesday.

According to the authorities, a woman with the same tattoo as Belarmino was spotted in CCTV footage before Lucero’s demise.

Yesterday, Belarmino insisted that she’s innocent and was drinking with her friends during the time when the victim has gone missing.

“Hindi po ako ‘yong nasa video. Puwedeng katulad lang ng buhok ko or ginaya ‘yong tattoo ko dahil noong time na ‘yon ay wala ako doon at nakikipag-inuman ako sa ibang lugar,” Belarmino said.

Ann Sheila Belarmino’s social media profile shows that she graduated from a known school in Manila

Netizens became curious about Ann Sheila Belarmino after she was arrested by the members of CALABARZON-PNP for her alleged involvement on Jang Lucero’s slay.

After they found her social media account, they discovered that Belarmino was not a simple person and considered as educated.

In the photos she posted on her social media account, Belarmino showed that she was a graduate of Our Lady Fatima University in Valenzuela City, finishing IT programming.

She also shared some of her photos during her graduation.

The suspect also took a photo with her parent.

According to the authorities, Belarmino has been in a relationship with Lucero’s ex-girlfriend and it’s possible that the suspect committed the crime because of too much jealousy to the victim.

“Si Anne ay allegedly may konting selos dun sa biktima. Siya mismo yung sumakay sa saksakyan ng biktima and napaka-importante na na-identify siya dahil siya mismo yung kasama nung mga sumaksak sa biktima,” CALABARZON police regional Director PBGen. Vicente Danao said.

The cops also identified Belarmino after they saw a lady with the same tattoo as the suspect in the CCTV taken before the incident.

However, Belarmino denied the accusations against her, saying that someone the real suspect tried to imitate her back tattoo to misled the authorities.

“Hindi po ako ‘yong nasa video. Puwedeng katulad lang ng buhok ko or ginaya ‘yong tattoo ko dahil noong time na ‘yon ay wala ako doon at nakikipag-inuman ako sa ibang lugar,” said Belarmino.

Sharon Cuneta defends VP Robredo: Napakadami niyang nagawa pero marami ang hindi nakakaalam nito

It seems that the megastar already started to promote Vice President Leni Robredo on social media.

On Monday Cuneta shared an article titled ’25 facts you must know about Leni Robredo’ to inform the netizens about the identity of the Vice President.

According to Cuneta, she shared the article to counter the ‘fake news’ being spread against Robredo who’s a possible candidate of the opposition in the 2022 presidential elections.

“Since I have already publicly said that I hope VP Leni Robredo runs for President after President Duterte’s term-and wins-I would like you to get to know some things about her,”

“A lot of fake news has been spread about her and all her good works have NOT been shown to the public,”

“Please keep that in mind. She has done so much and yet not many people know about them. I think that is unfair,”

Some of the facts shared by Sharon about Robredo was her success in the bar exam in 1996 after her second attempt.

The article also shared how Robredo was removed from the cabinet in 2016 and also President Duterte’s decision to oust the Vice President as co-chair of ICAD.

Last month, Cuneta expressed her support to Robredo after the megastar and her family received criticisms from the supporters of President Rodrigo Duterte.

“I don’t know what’s happened to our country. I hope VP Leni runs for president next time, dahil hindi na rin naman makakatakbo si Tatay next time, one term lang diba… napaka disente… Nakakatakot na kasi, ngayon lang ako naka experience ng ganito,” she stated.

“Pagkatapos ng term ni Pangulong Duterte, sana talaga manalo si VP Leni kung tumakbo siya. Baka sakaling bumalik ang pagka disente ng karamihan sa atin,” she added while trying to stop her tears from falling.

Netizens defend Jinkee Pacquiao from Agot Isidro: “Nakatulong ka teh in the level of the Pacquiaos’ help?”

Netizens couldn’t stop themselves from defending Jinkee Pacquiao from Agot Isidro after the actress asked the latter to stop posting her luxury things on her social media page.

One of the netizens who defended Pacquiao from Isidro was Krizette Laureta Chu who called out the actress for calling the people’s champ wife as ‘nouveau’.

Nouveau is a derogatory term used to describe people who only got their wealth within their own generation and not from inheritance.

According to Chu, only people who came from high society has the right to call anyone a nouveau.

She also questioned why Isidro doesn’t criticize Sharon Cuneta who showed her luxury watch to her critics on social media.

“Makasabi ng nouveau, old rich ka teh? Old rich lang ang pwedeng tumawag ng nouveau sa mga nouveau,” said Chu.

“Maka reklamo ng post ng may post, nakatulong ka teh in the level of the Pacquiaos’ help? Maka call out, na call out mo na si Sharon sa “You don’t have Rolex because you’re bad?” Hindi, kasi kakampi nyo,” she added.

In another post, Chu said that they’re going to launch crowdfunding to help Isidro to buy a bike like what Mrs. Pacquiao posted.

“Dear Agot, the Hermes bike is 10k USD. We will crowdfund to buy one for you, isabak mo din sa bugbugan si Florin Hilbay the way nagpabugbog si Manny just so he could afford nice things. Kami na bahala sa 10k USD,” she said.

Isidro on Thursday made a surprising criticism against Pacquiao who posted a photo of her Hermés and Louis Vuitton bicycles.

According to her, Pacquiao should refrain from posting luxuries on social media as many people were suffering in the country right now.

“Alam namin na marami kayong pera. At kung ano ang gusto ninyong gawin sa pera na yun, wala kaming pakialam,” Isidro said.

“Pero marami rin ang walang trabaho at nagkukumahog humanap ng pera para may pakain sa kanilang pamilya. Puede ba, konting sensitivity man lang?” she added.

Jinkee has yet to comment on Isidro’s criticisms.
