Lawyer lectures Karen Davila after the journalist complains about Duterte’s SONA: “Wow, ambisyosa ka, teh!”

A lawyer lectured Karen Davila after the Kapamilya journalist tweeted about her complaints to President Rodrigo Duterte fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA).

Yesterday, Davila complained about how President Rodrigo Duterte publicly criticized Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon and ABS-CBN during his SONA.

According to her, it’s not the right time for the President to threw criticisms.

“No senator or private company deserves to be mentioned at the opening of the President’s SONA. This is about the state of the country, where we are, where we are going, not about personal vendettas or feelings. People are hungry and jobless. People are looking for inspiration,” said Davila.

Atty. Nick Nañgit reacted to Davila’s tweet, asking why the latter was seems trying to lecture the President on what he should say during his SONA.

He also asked Davila if she’s really listening to the speeches of Duterte as the latter also discussed about the state of the country.

Nañgit then called Davila ambitious for trying to tell what President should say.

The post of Nañgit reached 1,700 reactions as of writing.

Yesterday, President Duterte mentioned Drilon and accused the senator of defending the Lopezes.

“In an interview, [Drilon] arrogantly mentioned that oligarchs need not be rich then he linked the Anti-dynasty system with oligarchy and the topic was my daughter and son,” the President said.

“This happened after the committee of franchises voted 70-11 to deny the grant of franchise to ABS-CBN…Obviously [Drilon] was defending the Lopezes that they were not oligarchs.” he added.

As a response, Drilon said that he’s not defending the owners of the Kapamilya network.

“I was defending freedom of the press, not the Lopezes. The closure of the ABS-CBN sent a chilling effect,” said Drilon.

“As I said before, for democracy to thrive we need free press and to allow journalists to exercise complete freedom to do their mandate of reporting facts without fear,” he added.

Yan ang disiplina! Bus company after receiving P462,000 fine removes some of their seats to avoid overloading

A bus company decided to remove half of its seats after they received a hefty fine from the City government of Valenzuela.

Malanday Metrolink Bus Corp. was caught overloading passengers despite the 50 percent capacity rule imposed by IATF in Metro Manila.

The bus company was charged by 462,000 pesos for the said violation.

Metro Manila is still under General Community Quarantine (GCQ).

To prevent another incident of overloading, Malanday decided to dismantle 50% of its seats.

“Metrolink buses now…chairs removed to prevent the temptation to overload,” Gatchalian said.

The action of Gatchalian received praise from the netizens.

However, some residents fear that the recent decision of the said company might affect transportation in the said city.

Sen. Drilon responds to President Duterte: “I am defending freedom of speech, not the Lopezes”

Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon responded to President Rodrigo Duterte’s accusations against him during the latter’s fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA).

On Monday, Drilon said that he’s not defending the owners of television network giant ABS-CBN and only trying to protect freedom of speech.

Drilon pointed out the importance of ABS-CBN in the midst of the pandemic.

“In the face of a pandemic, we need more access to information. I aired my support for the renewal of franchise ob ABS-CBN because undeniably the network complements other stations in providing timely and accurate reportage even in the farthest locality unreachable to others, even to the government,” he said.

The senator also said that he’s defending the 11,000 employees that would be affected by the shutdown of ABS-CBN.

“I was defending the 11,000 people and their families who would lose jobs amid the pandemic, not the Lopezes,” he said.

Duterte, mentioned Drilon several times during his SONA, saying that the latter was a defender of the Lopezes.

Joke lang ba talaga? K Brosas jests about President SONA, calling it ‘walang kwenta’

President Rodrigo Duterte’s fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) received mix reactions from the netizens, some of them praised the chief executive, while others couldn’t stop themselves from criticizing the leader.

K Brosas is one of the known personalities who criticized Duterte and raised the eyebrows of some supporters of the President because of her ‘joke’ about the SONA

“May joke ako about SA sona.. kaso wag na Lang pala kc walang kwenta,” said Brosas.

Hours after Brosas posted the said joke, she received many criticisms from the netizens and even complained about why they even involved her daughter.

Kalma muna,” she said.

Meanwhile, Agot Isidro, a known critic of the Duterte administration was present from slamming the SONA of the chief executive.

She criticized the speech of Duterte because of lacking substance.

“Ang SONA na walang sustansya. kthxbye,” Isidro said.

Isidro even said that the ‘trolls’ of President Duterte are welcome to her profile.

Kapamilya actor Robi Domingo also commented on President Duterte’s SONA, saying that the real virus in the country was the lack of action from the government.

“The real Veerus is obviously not being able to respond to the needs of the nation but prioritized the selfish interests of the party,” Domingo remarked.

Duterte gained new critics from show business after Congress rejected the franchise application of ABS-CBN, one of the biggest television networks in the country.

Most of them blamed Duterte because of his past statements against the Kapamilya Network, saying that he would not let the broadcasting company to renew its franchise.

Netizen writes open letter to Nikki Valdez who criticizes Duterte: “Mas pipiliin mong mag-operate ng illegal ang network mo para sa kapakanan mo kesa sa respetuhin ang pangulo”

A netizen wrote an open letter to actress Nikki Valdez after the latter criticized President Rodrigo Duterte in a lengthy Instagram post.

Yesterday, Valdez who admitted that she voted for President Duterte in 2016 expressed disappointment to the chief executive for prioritizing the shutdown of ABS-CBN.

Netizen Noel Landero Sarifa came to the rescue and responded to Valdez’s criticisms as detailed as possible.

Sarifa showcased the contribution of President Duterte in the country.

The netizen also questioned why Valdez thought that the President was loyal to China instead of the Philippines while Filipinos were benefiting to the projects of the government and not the Chinese people.

Sarifa also explained why the government prioritized the anti-terror bill.

He then pointed out that ABS-CBN was not forced to shut down, but the Congress only rejected the franchise extension of the broadcasting network giant.

The Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) was also giving thousands of jobs to the Filipinos according to Sarifa, so he’s questioning why Valdez wanted to close down the said companies in the Philippines.

Here’s the whole letter of Sarifa:

“Nikki..nikki..nikki..

President Duterte warns telecom companies: Improve service by December or I’ll close your company

President Rodrigo Duterte gave the telecommunications company a time limit until December to fix their service.

In his fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA), President Duterte mentioned the two biggest telecommunication companies in the Philippines, Globe, and Smart, saying that he’s already living in the country for a long time, but the service of the two giants didn’t change.

He warned the two telecom companies to comply on his order or else he would make a way to close them.

If you are not ready to improve, I might just as well close all of you. We’ll revert back to line,” said Duterte.

“The patience of the Filipino people is reaching its limit and I will be the one to articulate the anger of the Filipino people… Kindly improve the services before December… I want to call Jesus Christ to Bethlehem, better have that line cleared. Kayo ang may pera, p**** tapos you give us half-cooked deals, lousy service,” he added.

As a response, Globe CEO Ernest Cu said that they’re doing their best to improve their service, citing that they spent $1.2-B which goes to network and capacity builds.

Cu also mentioned the challenges they’re facing especially the long process of building cell sites.

“We have been experiencing long-drawn permitting process across LGUs, HOAs, and national agencies in our cell site build and laying down of fiber to homes, but we are positive that with the policies being enacted by the DICT, we will be able to fast-track builds of telco towers for a more robust connectivity and internet services for every Filipino,” said Cu.

Filipinos repeatedly complained about the slow internet service in the country.

However, the telecom companies vowed to do what they could to improve their services to the people.

According to the Ookla Speedtest Global Index for February 2019, the Philippine internet speed showed an improvement of 143.74%.

President Duterte wants to revive the capital punishment by lethal injection

President Rodrigo Duterte wanted to revive capital punishment to stop the shabu problem in the Philippines.

During his fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA), Duterte urged Congress to pass the revival of lethal injection in the country.

“I reiterate the swift passage of a law providing the death penalty by lethal injection for crimes specified the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002,” said Duterte.

When no one clapped inside the Batasan Pambansa, Duterte quipped that the lawmakers might not interested in his proposal.

After noticing that no one clapped, the lawmakers started to applause.

The President then explained the problem of shabu in the country.

Duterte asked why that shabu trade was still being done inside the national penitentiary like what’s happening to other countries like Colombia and Mexico.

The President also explained how a family can be destroyed if one of their members got hooked by shabu.

“When the family starts to crumble, there’s no more home. The wife will look for another husband or for a job, usually sa abroad.

Capital punishment in the country was ended in 2006 and the inmates who were originally lined up to lethal injection were commuted to life imprisonment.

In 2016, President Duterte made the revival of capital punishment as one of his campaign promises.

Duterte originally supported capital punishment by hanging.

Some bills calling for the revival of capital punishment have been pending in the Congress.

President Duterte slams Sen. Drilon and ABS-CBN : “I am a casualty of the Lopezes during the 2016 elections.”

President Rodrigo Duterte slammed Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon and the Lopez family during his fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday.

The Senator received a special mention from President Duterte accusing the former of defending the Lopezes.

The President pointed out how media was being used by the ‘oligarchs’ to control the politics in the country, claiming that he’s one of the targets of the Lopezes in the 2016 elections.

“Media is a powerful tool for the hands of oligarchs like the Lopezes, who use their media outlets to battle political figures. I was a casualty of the Lopezes during the 2016 elections,” Duterte said.

Duterte criticized ABS-CBN several times and even vowed before not to let the broadcasting network giant renew their franchise.

He accused ABS-CBN Chairman Emeritus Gabby Lopez of stealing his money.

“Gabby Lopez, I paid ABS-CBN P2.8 million…You accepted my money, you never bothered to show my propaganda (political advertisements). After the elections, you didn’t return the money,” Duterte said in a past speech.

However, ABS-CBN officials denied that they intended not to air Duterte’s advertisement and apologized to the President.

Last week, Drilon challenged President Duterte to dismantle the real reason of oligarchy in the Philippines, the ‘anti-dynasty law.’

“You cannot equate rich and oligarch, meaning it does not mean that if you are rich, you are on oligarch. An oligarch is the one that influences the decision of the government or the one using their political power, their wealth in order that the policy that they want to protect their interest will be pursued,” Drilon said.

The senate minority leader was reacting to President Duterte’s announcement that he dismantled an oligarchy without declaring martial law after the Congress decided to reject ABS-CBN’s franchise application.

President Duterte’s three children were currently elected in different positions in Davao City.

In 2018, President Duterte said that they were “forced” to rule Davao City.

“Ayaw ko ng dynasty, but we are forced,” he said.

Kapamilya actress Nikki Valdez couldn’t hide her disappointment to President Rodrigo Duterte after the House of Representatives junked the franchise application of ABS-CBN.

In an open letter, Valdez admitted that she voted for President Duterte in 2016, hoping that the former Davao City mayor would bring change to the country.

“At noong 2016, oo binoto kita Pres. Nakita namin ang political will mo,” she added.

She even said that despite the issues faced by the President, they kept believing in him.

However, after four years, Valdez said that she realized the failures made by the administration, including how the administration decided to allow the Chinese to enter the country despite what’s happening to Wuhan.

She even asked if the President’s allegiance was in China already because of his recent decisions.

Valdez also questioned why the administration prioritized the anti-terror bill and the shutdown of ABS-CBN, while they’re not closing down the controversial Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs).

“Joke lang?”” she also said.

Celebrities are blaming President Duterte for what happened to ABS-CBN, citing that the latter’s criticisms against Kapamilya Network pressured the Congress to close down one of the biggest networks in the country.

I love you mama! Suspect behind the ‘lady in septic tank’ case shows sweetness to the victim

The case of Maria Evelyn Sayos captured the attention of the netizens after the authorities found that one of the suspects behind the demise of the victim was her own child.

Mrs. Sayos has gone missing since 2016, and the netizens who discovered the social media account of the suspect were surprised by what they found.

The suspect, Joanna Marie Sayos used a Facebook account until 2016 and netizens found sweet messages made by the former to the victim.

In 2016, Joanna Marie shared a photo of her younger days together with the victim and her father.

“Nakakamiss naman,” Joanna Marie said.

She also greeted the victim during the mother’s day.

“Hi Ma! Happy Mothers Day pati nadin sakin HAHA! 😀 Wish you all the best Thank you for being a Mother/Father samin ni Kuya and Johan. Yieee! Basta kahit anong mangyare Love kita :* <3
P.S. sa birthday ko ah! LamNa!”

In another post, she even greeted her mother with a happy birthday.

“Happy Birthday Ma! Okay naba yung mga treat ko sayo? Sexy mo dyan ah Iloveyou,” she wrote.

The ‘happy birthday’ post of Joanna Marie gave the most chill to the netizen because that was also the same month when it was reported that the victim faced her end in the hands of her own daughter.

The same year, Joanna Marie told her siblings that their mother flew to Singapore to work, but it was suspected that the victim was already faced her demise during those times.

Mrs. Rayos was only declared missing in 2018 because the suspect acted as her mother to answer messages from their relatives.

Joanna Marie’s boyfriend was also the suspect behind the demise of Mrs. Rayos.

According to the report, Joanna Marie’s boyfriend Ronald James Rubi was already planning to end the life of Mrs. Rayos in July 2016 but only did it during the victim’s exact birthday.

Rubi said that he had a feud with Mrs. Rayos.

The two suspects were now under the custody of Dasmarinas PNP to face charges.
