Atty. Larry Gadon reveals that he’s not a believer of face mask: “The mask is only for a show”

Defeated senatorial candidate Atty. Larry Gadon revealed that he’s not convinced with the effectivity of face masks.

Gadon made his statement in an interview with CNN’s Rex Remition after he was spotted plastering face mask on the face shield.

“I don’t believe in mask outdoors. Face shield is okay. Mask may be good for small enclosed places like elevators or small conference rooms,” said Gadon.

“In my case, the mask is only for a show because stores will not allow entry if you don’t have mask,” he added.

The lawyer who became famous for pushing an impeachment complaint against Maria Lourdes Sereno even asked why the cases of virus are still rising despite the face mask policy in the country.

He believed that everybody will catch the virus “someway somehow sooner or later”.

“What is more important is your healthy body, your strong immune system. NOT THE MASK. COVID Fear was created by paranoia,” he said.

“COVID is curable at the onset when symptoms are felt. One should only take the traditional Chinese medicine,” he added.

Gadon also said that the government was overreacting on the pandemic.

“I don’t believe in masks,” the lawyer said before the end of the interview.

According to a survey, 91% of Filipinos were following the face mask policy of the government.

Many scientists, experts, and even the World Health Organization (WHO) were confident in the effectiveness of face mask to protect the people from the virus.

Veteran journalist criticizes IATF policies like mandatory face shield: “Anong kag*g*han ito Mr. President?”

A veteran journalist couldn’t hide his disappointment over the policies being implemented by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF).

In a Facebook post, Jay Sonza said he’s already near to describe the actions of IATF as “overreacting” because of the ideas they’re trying to apply to the people.

Sonza also claimed that there’s no other countries in the world that urging the people to wear a face shield and face mask at the same time.

“Malapit ko ng sabihing OA na masyado itong IATF natin. There is no country in the world that requires their citizens to wear face mask and face shield all at the same time to protect them from the Pandemic. Wala na ngang pambili ng ulam iyong Pilipino, pagagastusin nyo pa ng pambili ng face shield,” said Sonza.

He even asked if the officials of IATF are only trying to pretend as an expert when it comes on handling a pandemic.

Sonza pointed out that face shields should be reserved to the frontliners and other people who were vulnerable.

“And higit na nangangailangan ng face masks at face shields at PPEs ay ang mga Frontliners na nagkakasakit na. Utang na loob, IATF. Our life is alteady difficult as it is. Please don’t make it misearable. Anong kag*g*han ito Mr. President?” he said.

Starting August 15, commuters are being required to wear face shields in public transport.

Employees are also being asked to wear face shields while doing their job.

Effective August 15, it is not only a face mask that workers should wear but also face shields. That is the new protocol,” Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said on Wednesday.

Research muna bago comment! Doctor defends Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) in Davao City from critics

A doctor defended the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) located in Davao City after some critics questioned why the said hospital received the biggest amount of Philippine Health Insurance Corporation’s (PhilHealth) Internal Reimbursement Mechanism (IRM) for COVID-19 treatment among other hospitals.

In a Facebook post, Dr. Bernard Chiew, a cardiologist from Davao City listed the ‘facts’ about SPMC so the critics would not get confused about why the said hospital was receiving big amount of money from PhilHealth.

Here’s what he said:

“1) Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) is in Davao City. Davao Regional Medical Center (DRMC) is in another province, at Tagum City in Davao Del Norte.”

“2) SPMC is the biggest government hospital in the country with 1500 beds. PGH is second with 1100 beds.”

“3) How big is SPMC? For the Department of Internal Medicine alone, which is largely responsible for taking care of COVID patients, there are 83 medical residents and 95 medical consultants. Our department is bigger than the whole medical staff and trainees of most hospitals.”

“Total number of residents/fellows and consultants for all the departments of SPMC? 475 residents and fellows. 399 consultants.”

“4) SPMC is the ONLY government hospital in Davao City, serving the whole of Mindanao as a medical center. For SPMC, there is no such thing as “puno na ang hospital. Lumipat na lang kayo sa iba!”. The buck stops here.”

“5) As for Covid, SPMC is the only Covid center in the Davao area. BECAUSE WE ARE SMART HERE IN DAVAO, we centralized the treatment of Covid. Until recently, private hospitals were not allowed to admit Covid. Now, only mild cases of COVID are allowed in private hospitals. It is still SPMC which is ground zero for the COVID treatment. By doing this, we are able to maximize manpower and resources and streamline our response.”

“6) SPMC is not just an “infirmary clinic” that others make it appear. Since the start of the Covid Pandemic, on average, SPMC is taking care of more than 130 in-patient Covid cases daily (about 100 adult Covid patients and 30 pediatric covid cases). This does not include the hundreds of other non-COVID cases in the hospital.”

“7) In Metro Manila, unlike in Davao City’s SPMC, PGH do not bear the brunt of ALL covid cases. Covid cases are being admitted in private hospitals and other government hospitals in Metro Manila.”

“8)Actually, Metro Manila got the biggest share of Covid funds at Php592M (PGH, National Kidney and Transplant Institute, and Quirino Memorial Medical Center). Davao CIty (SPMC) got Php326M.”

The doctor then called out the people making comments against SPMC without making their proper research.

He also criticized the “intellectually dishonest” people who were aware of the facts but still chose to comment against SPMC.

Chiew then said the critics should stop comparing SPMC and the Philippine General Hospital in Metro Manila.

“I just wanted to show how much SPMC has developed and improved the last 20 yrs. Besides, our colleagues in PGH are our friends. Most of the consultants at SPMC had their training in PGH. This is not about SPMC vs PGH. It will never be SPMC vs PGH,” he said.

The doctor included a video showing the development of SPMC

On August 11, Philhealth legal counsel Roberto Labe Jr. showed the top 10 hospitals receiving IRM in the country.

It showed that SPMC received 326-M followed by PGH, P263-M, Davao Regional Medical Center, P209-M, Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, P204 million, Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital, P201-M, National Kidney and Transplant Institute, P179-M, Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center, P165-M , Northern Mindanao Medical Center, P150.2-M , Quirino Memorial Medical Center P150-M , Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center, P146.2-M

Korina Sanchez reveals her prenup agreement with Mar Roxas: “Hindi ako humihingi ng pera sa asawa ko”

Korina Sanchez revealed that she’s financially independent from her husband, former Interior Secretary Mar Roxas.

In an Instagram live interview on August 10, Sanchez-Roxas revealed her financial set up with her husband, saying that she never asked for money from him.

Sanchez said that other women should also try to fund their own lifestyles like her.

“Hindi ako humihingi ng pera sa asawa ko,” the Kapamilya broadcaster said.

“You should have your own money. Buy your own poison. Fund your own lifestyle,” she added.

According to her, her financial independence from her husband was part of their prenup agreement.

Sanchez-Roxas also claimed that she dated one of the most popular telenovela actor Fernando Carrillo who became the partner of Thalia in Rosalinda.

“We dated pero walang nangyari. Not even a kiss. Nothing. Natakot ako. Fernando is such a darling but you have to be ready for him. Super gwapo, super sweet, pero I really ran away from him. And he remembers that,” she said.

Sanchez is busy spending time with her husband and twins Pepe and Pilar whom they conceived via surrogate.

Salvador Panelo to Angel Locsin: “Bakit mo nilalabanan ang gobyerno? Lahat ng mga banat mo puro sa gobyerno.”

Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo talked about Kapamilya defender Angel Locsin in his program “Counterpoint” last Friday.

During his program, Panelo reminded Locsin to avoid contradicting her statement, saying that the actress already told her followers that the real enemy amid the crisis happening in the country is the virus.

However, Panelo asked why the actress became critical of the government if she believed that the enemy is the virus and not the people.

The former spokesperson of President Duterte then urged Locsin to use her fame to ask the people to cooperate with the government.

“Naalala ko tuloy si Angel Locsin. Ang sabi mo ang kalaban hindi ang health workers, ang kalaban ‘yung virus. O tama ka doon. Eh bakit kung ‘yun ang kalaban eh bakit mo nilalabanan ang gobyerno? Lahat ng mga banat mo puro sa gobyerno. Ang dapat labanan natin ‘yung virus,” Panelo said.

“Dapat gamitin mo dahil ikaw naman ay kilala at hinahangaan, gamitin mo manawagan ka na mag-cooperate tayo. hindi ‘yung puro banat ka, ginagaya mo “yung mga kritiko,” he added.

Locsin is one of the celebrities who reacted to President Duterte when the chief executive scolded the health workers for calling for a revolution.

“Eh kung mag-revolution kayo, you will give me the free ticket to stage a counterrevolution. How I wish you would do it,” the President said.

As response, Locsin made a series of Instagram stories to defend the health workers.

Locsin also became vocal on defending ABS-CBN and even urged the other celebrities to speak against the controversial decision of the Congress.

“Magkaisa tayo at wag magpagamit,” Locsin said.

However, some accused Locsin of being active on defending ABS-CBN because she’s one of the stockholder of the broadcasting network.

Locsin already denied that she’s defending her former network because of money.

Biker brought to police station after he was caught without mask while drinking water

A bicycle rider was brought to the police station and paid 1,000 pesos fine for not wearing a face mask.

Netizen Michael Manansala narrated that he stopped at Marikina river park to take a rest as he still needs the energy to travel to Mandaluyong City.

While resting, he removed his face mask to drink water, however, he was spotted by the authorities and approached him.

“Bigla ako hinuli ng mga Police at pinasakay sa sasakyan At dinala sa headquarters nila . at pinag multa ng 1.000 So ano gagawin ko iinom ako ng naka facemask,” said Manansala.

Manansala addressed the people who brought him to the police station.

“Sana maging patas kayo. ‘Wag kayong gahaman. Sana magtulungan tayo, hindi ‘yung manggugulang ng tao dahil pandemic ngayon. At ‘yung 1k na hiningi niyo sa akin, mahirap hanapin ‘yan lalo na’t walang-wala kami ngayon dahil sa pandemic. Pang bigas na rin ‘yang 1k na ‘yan.” he said.

Manansala even claimed that the officers had his mugshot.

Marikina is strictly imposing its City Ordinance requiring all people to wear their face mask in public places.

The City Government of Marikina has yet to comment on the complaint of Manansala.

This is not the first time that a bicycle rider was caught for not wearing a face mask.

Last month, journalist Howie Severino was apprehended by Quezon City law enforces for pulling his mask to take a drink.

Unlike Manansala, Severino who was brought to Amoranto stadium for a seminar was released without paying fine.

Willie Revillame slams Rappler and Pia Ranada for reporting that he ‘hijacks’ Malacanang press briefing

‘Tutok to Win’ Willie Revillame called out Rappler and their journalist Pia Ranada for their headline about his appearance on a press briefing with Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque.

Revillame made a statement on national television about the media company and the said journalist and denied that he ‘hijacks’ the briefing happened on August 7.

The screenshot article, titled “Willie Revillame hijacks Roque press briefing to promote charity, GMA7 show” was also showed by the tv host during his show.

Revillame narrated that he received a call from Roque, asking his help to find a studio where they could hold a press briefing because the RTVM building was not available.

The TV host said that he let Roque used one of his studios in WilTower.

“Ginawan ko po ng paraan ‘yan, ako po ang nag ayos niyan at dito early morning para po may magamit po si Secretary Harry Roque,” said Revillame.

According to him, Roque asked him to appear during the press briefing, but he called it ‘inappropriate’ because he’s not a politician and also he’s also having his own show.

However, last Friday, he agreed with Roque’s request to appear in their last press briefing.

“Alam niyo ho, yung pagbibigay ko ng 5 million galing po ‘iyon sa sarili ko, pinagsikapan ko pinaghirapan ko, ‘yun po ay galing sa akin at hindi po alam ni Secretary Harry Roque at Governor Jonvic Remulla at ng buong taga Malacanang na nandito, wala.. naisip ko lang po ‘yun,” he stated.

Revillame expressed sadness on the reaction of some netizens who thought that he’s only trying to boast or promote himself by giving money to the people in need.

“Eh para pa hong napasama pa ako sa iba na parang nagbuhat ako ng bangko, parang nagyabang pa ako, hindi ko po maintindihan kung bakit may mga ganyan klaseng tao,” he said.

He explained that he gave the 5-M to the government because it’s impossible for him to personally distribute the money to the jeepney drivers because of the law and the current situation of the country.

Revillame again talked again about the report of Ranada.

“Ang alam ko, ang hijack may hino-hostage ka, may dala kang armas. Ang ibig kong sabihin, hindi maganda ang pagkakasulat. Ang sabi hi-nijack ko ‘raw ang programang iyon. I was invited by the secretary, pinagbigyan ako ng pagkakataon dahil dito ho sila, actually kung hindi po sila pwede sa Malacanang studio ay welcome sila dito, para alam po ng tao ng announcement at sasabihin ng Presidente,” Revillame said.

The TV host then announced that he’s ready to shell out 5-M pesos again next month to help the people in need.

Meanwhile, Ranada responded to Revillame’s criticism, explaining to the TV host the meaning of ‘hijack’.

“Hi Willie Revillame! Ito po ang ilang mga ibang depinisyon ng ‘hijack’ kung sakaling inaakusahan mo ako ng fake news dahil ang intindi mo sa ‘hijack’ ay pagnakaw ng sasakyan,” Ranada said.
