BREAKING: Tito, Vic and Joey filed copyright complaint against TAPE and GMA Network

Former Eat Bulaga hosts Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon have already started legal action against their former production company Television and Production Exponents Inc. and former network GMA.

On July 12, 2023, the TVJ, including former Eat Bulaga head writer Jeny Ferre, filed Copyright Infringement charges against TAPE and GMA before the Marikina Regional Trial Court.

Marikina RTC Branch 273 asked TAPE and GMA to give their comments on the charges filed by the legendary trio against them.

The said charge was related to continuous usage by TAPE Inc. of the title Eat Bulaga, despite the claims of TVJ that they were the ones who invented the said word.

It can be recalled that Joey already said that he was the one who invented the title Eat Bulaga.

However, TAPE Inc. insisted that they had the right to use the title as they registered the trademark Eat Bulaga in 2011.

Meanwhile, TVJ said that Jeny, was the brain behind some of the popular segments by Eat Bulaga that were also being claimed by TAPE.

“You are hereby required, within thirty days after service of this Summons, to file with this court, and serve on the plaintiffs, through counsel, your Answer to the Complaint, copy of which is attached together with the annexes. You are reminded of Rule 2, Section 4 of the 2020 Revised Rules of Procedure for Intellectual Property Rights Cases wihch prescribed the filing of a motion to dismiss exept only on the grounds of lack of jurisdiction over the subject matter, les pendentia, or res judicata, and instead alleged any ground/s other than the ones previously mentioned as defense/s in the Answer.” the court wrote.

“If you fail to answer within the time fixed, the court, on motion of the plaintiffs, or moto proprio, render judgment as may be warranted by the allegations in the complaint, as well as the affidavits and other evidence on record,” they added.

As of writing, TAPE and GMA have yet to release a response to the charges filed against them by TVJ who left them on May 31, 2023.

 

Kakagawa lang na kumpanya? Netizens question the background of PAGCOR’s logo maker

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) received criticism from netizens after they unveiled their new logo, which cost more than P3-M.

Aside from its controversial design, which was compared to the logo of an oil company, netizens also questioned the company’s background that created it.

Some netizens found the background of PAGCOR’s logo creator, Printplus Graphic Services, ‘sketchy’ after they discovered some important information about the said company.

According to the investigation, they found that Printplus was only registered to PhilGEPS on June 14, 2023, thirteen days before the contract had been awarded by PAGCOR to them.

PhilGEPS, or the Philippine Government Electronic Procurement System, was an online portal where companies bid on contracts for government projects.

Aside from its new registration, Printplus also had no proper social media page or logo.

They also found that Printplus’s business scope in their registration to the Department of Trade and Industry was only for ‘Barangay’ level.

Some netizen questioned why the graphic company that created the newest symbol of PAGCOR do not even have its own logo.

They also noticed that the page of Printplus only posted one photo, a graphic used for the BBM-Sara campaign last year.

Printplus’s office was also located inside an exclusive subdivision, fueling more suspicion from the netizens.

Despite its sketchy background, PAGCOR still allowed the said company to create their new logo.

As of writing, the company’s owner, Francisco Doplon, has yet to respond to the criticism received by the logo they created for PAGCOR.

Netizens couldn’t stop themselves from questioning the decision of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (LOGO) to accept the design of their new logo.

In a Facebook post, several netizens tried to investigate the creator of the controversial logo, ‘Printplus Graphic Services,’ which received a payment of more than P3-M from PAGCOR.

The suspicions of the netizens have been fueled after they discovered that the company’s office was located inside an executive subdivision in Paranaque City.

Printplus Graphic Services was reportedly owned by Mr. Francisco Doplon.

Netizens questioned why the government made a transaction with a company that does not even have a proper office.

“Grabe to. Hahahaha kami dugo pawis para makipag bid sa gobyerno, tapos ito 3M ganun2 lang. Kalokaaaaaaaa asan hustisya hahaha,” netizen Katrina said.

“Lumabas labas pa kami sa probinsiya namin para maghanap ng trabaho. Nasa bahay lang pala ang pera.” netizen Juan said.

As of writing, PAGCOR and Mr. Doplon have yet to give a statement to the criticisms they were receiving.

It can be recalled that the new logo of PAGCOR was presented to high officials on July 11.

However, while the officials seemed satisfied with the design of the logo, netizens described the new symbol of PAGCOR as a creation of an amateur.

Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) unveiled its newest logo to celebrate its 40th anniversary.

On July 10, 2023, PAGCOR revealed its logo at the event attended by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez.

PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro H. Tengco presented the logo to the public officials.

While the chief executive seems happy with the new logo of PAGCOR, many netizens questioned its design.

Some netizens even compared its similarity to Petron’s logo.

Others described the design were resemble horns.

“Mas maganda parin ung old logo kaysa sa new logo,” netizen Jane said.

“BIG question who made the logo? if it’s third party how much PAGCOR pays?” netizen Joseph asked.

“If it ain’t broke, why fix it?” netizen Jojo remarked.

Even motivational speaker Rendon Labador criticized the design of the new logo.

“Sobrang panget ng logo! parang gawa ng grade 1,” Labador said.

Sass Rogando Sasot revealed that the logo cost the taxpayers P3-M.

According to the contract, the logo was made by PRINTPLUS GRAPHIC SERVICES.

As of writing, PAGCOR has yet to give any details why they decided to change the logo of their corporation.

Actress Claudine Barretto reportedly planning to file charges against Sabrina M. for involving her in her story about her alleged ‘secret relationship’ with Rico Yan.

It can be recalled that Claudine and Rico became popular as a love team, but their romance turned into reality, and they dated for four years before they broke up.

In an interview, Sabrina claimed that she became Rico’s girlfriend after Claudine, and they had a relationship until the actor passed away in 2002.

“Alam po ni Claudine na naging kami. Pero never pa namin pinagusapan po. Wala namang problem kasi noong naging kami, wala na sila ni Claudine. Hindi ko naman inagaw si Rico sa kanya noong sila pala,” Sabrina said.

“Matagal ko rin pinag-iisipan kung pupunta ba ako sa burol niya or hindi. Baka ma-issue kasi. Pero may nagsabi sa akin pumunta raw ako para respeto lang sa kanya. Dahil naging kami naman daw,” she added.

However, many showbiz reporters questioned the legitimacy of Sabrina’s story, saying that they should have seen the actress at the burial of Rico if ever her account was real.

Even Ogie Diaz said that they attended Rico’s burial every day and never saw Sabrina there.

In his online show, the talent manager believed that Sabrina only used Rico to promote her upcoming movie.

According to him, Claudine was very disappointed after hearing the accounts made by Sabrina and even ready to make the 90s star accountable for what she said.

“Balak magdemanda ni Claudine Barretto dahil hindi raw totoo ‘yung sinasabi ni Sabrina M na aware si Claudine at ginagamit pa si Bobby Yan,” said Ogie.

He also gave advice to Sabrina that she must avoid using other people if she wanted to promote herself to the public.

A motorcycle rider was facing multiple charges after he confronted the members of the Inter-Agency Council for Traffic (I-ACT), who apprehended him after he used the bus carousel lane along EDSA last Sunday, July 9.

In a video posted by the Department of Transportation (DOTr), they showed the confrontation between the said motorcycle rider and traffic enforcers.

The motorcycle rider, who the agency didn’t name, was shown to be uncooperative with the enforcers and even tore the traffic ticket he received.

He was now facing charges for disregarding traffic signs, failure to wear a standard helmet, failure to carry OR/CR, unauthorized attached plate, and reckless driving.

Meanwhile, DOTr reminded the private vehicle owners that they’re not allowed to use the bus lane anytime.

It can be recalled that many private vehicles were caught using the bus lane to save time.

“Mahigpit namang ipinaaalala ng Department of Transportation (DOTr) na ang EDSA BUS Carousel lane ay nakalaan LAMANG sa mga pampublikong bus, ambulansya, at sasakyan ng gobyerno na tutugon sa emergency.” DOTR said in a statement.

“Huhulihin at titiketan ang mga hindi awtorisadong sasakyan, habang haharap sa suspensyon ng driver’s license o report sa taxi ride-hailing services na pinagtatrabahuhan ang motorsiklo,” he added.

Paolo Contis shared that while he’s still open to having more children, the actor wanted to fix himself first.

In an interview with Ogie Diaz, the Kapuso actor said that it would be unfair to his children Xonia, Xalene, and Summer if he decided to have a child with his current partner Yen Santos.

“At the end of the day, natutunan ko, kailangan kong ayusin lahat. Regardless kung happy ending o sad but it has to para… basta maayos. Kailangan kong maayos lahat. It will be very unfair kung sabihin kong gusto kong magkaroon ng anak pa,” said Paolo.

“Unfair ‘yun sa bata, na marami akong bagay na hindi ayos. Unfair ‘yun dun sa baby. Unfair ‘yun sa ibang mga bata na, ‘Eto na naman siya’ ‘di ba. Siguro bago ako mag-jump into that, everything has to be fixed,” he added.

It can be recalled that Paolo had been receiving criticism on social media after he admitted that he was not sending financial support to his children.

Alden Richards refuses invitation to appear on a ‘noontime show’ that competes with TVJ: ‘Yung puso ko po is with the Dabarkads”

Former Eat Bulaga host Alden Richards admitted that he had received an invitation to appear on a certain noontime show but refused to accept it.

In an interview, Alden narrated that he was offered to appear on the said program on July 1 during the heat of the competition between E.A.T, Eat Bulaga, and It’s Showtime.

According to him, he decided to show ‘delicadeza’ by not appearing on the said program, which is considered one of the competitors of the newest noontime show of his former colleagues.

Fortunately, GMA Senior Vice President Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes respected the decision made by Alden.

Alden refused to disclose if he was referring to Eat Bulaga or It’s Showtime, which currently both air under GMA Network.

He said that he would only accept appearing on shows competing with TVJ if he needed to ‘promote’ some of his projects, but not as a guest or a regular host.

“If it’s about promo, ok po pero as a guest and regular host, baka hindi po muna kasi yung puso ko po is with the Dabarkads. Tahimik lang ako all throughout the issue, hindi po ako nakikisawsaw pero by the time kasi na natanong ako about my relationship with TVJ, syempre sinabi ko po yung piece ko.” said Alden.

“Hindi naman po ako plastik. Hindi ko pwedeng sabihin na wala kaming pinagsamahan ng Dabarkads before. Hindi ko pwedeng sabihin na dahil wala na sila sa GMA, I let go of things that we have shared all throughout those seven years.” he added.

It can be recalled that Alden also said that it’s also uncertain for him to reunite with the Dabarkads on television because of his current contract with GMA.

Veteran columnist Cristy Fermin said she was not surprised after she heard about the breakup between Kris Aquino and Mark Leviste.

In her program “Cristy Ferminute,” the showbiz reporter discussed the announcement made by Kris, saying that she could no longer maintain her relationship with Mark because of the distance between them.

“I asked Marc for a pause because with my condition the way it is now, i’m self aware enough to know that a long distance relationship will be next to impossible for us to maintain,” said Kris.

Joey de Leon takes a swipe against TAPE Inc. on national television: ‘Yung mga peke, tigil na kayo’

E.A.T host Joey de Leon couldn’t stop himself from taking a swipe against Television and Production Exponents Inc. (TAPE Inc.) and rebranded Eat Bulaga.

During one of the episodes of TV5’s top-rated noontime show, Joey was set to introduce their celebrity guests for their segment ‘Babala! “Wag Kayong Ganun”, when he proudly proclaimed that they were the legitimate ones.

“Legit, kami legit.” said Joey. “‘Yung mga alam niya na, peke, baliktarin niyo ‘yung legit, tigil na kayo,” 

While talking to their celebrity guests Karla Estrada and Alex Calleja, who were part of the talk show Face-to-Face, Joey complained about some shows that have been using their title.

It can be recalled that face-to-face featured feuds between two camps, and its hosts were tasked to give advice and reconcile the guests of the show. That’s why Joey also tried to ask for some help from the face-to-face hosts.

“Ang sitwasyon natin ngayon ay tungkol sa mga shows na ginagamit ‘yung pangalan namin,” Joey said.

“Naawa ako sa mga ganung tao eh, mga walang sariling pag-iisip,” he added.

Netizens quickly guessed that Joey was referring to TAPE Inc’s continuous usage of Eat Bulaga title.

Joey, who claimed to be the one who created the title ‘Eat Bulaga,’ was reportedly having a trademark dispute with TAPE Inc.

TAPE Inc. already registered the Eat Bulaga title in 2011, but Joey said that they’re not aware with the filing made by their former production company.
