Parang pamilyar? Netizens questions similarity of PAGCOR’s new logo to an oil company

Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) unveiled its newest logo to celebrate its 40th anniversary.

On July 10, 2023, PAGCOR revealed its logo at the event attended by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez.

PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro H. Tengco presented the logo to the public officials.

While the chief executive seems happy with the new logo of PAGCOR, many netizens questioned its design.

Some netizens even compared its similarity to Petron’s logo.

Others described the design were resemble horns.

“Mas maganda parin ung old logo kaysa sa new logo,” netizen Jane said.

“BIG question who made the logo? if it’s third party how much PAGCOR pays?” netizen Joseph asked.

“If it ain’t broke, why fix it?” netizen Jojo remarked.

Even motivational speaker Rendon Labador criticized the design of the new logo.

“Sobrang panget ng logo! parang gawa ng grade 1,” Labador said.

Sass Rogando Sasot revealed that the logo cost the taxpayers P3-M.

According to the contract, the logo was made by PRINTPLUS GRAPHIC SERVICES.

As of writing, PAGCOR has yet to give any details why they decided to change the logo of their corporation.
