CBCP to let priests file legal charges against Pura Luka Vega for singing ‘Ama Namin Remix’

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) may possibly file charges against the drag artist Pura Luka Vega who went viral on social media after wearing a Jesus Christ costume while singing a remixed version of the mass song ‘Ama Namin’.

In an interview with CNN Philippines, CBCP’s spokesperson Fr. Jerome Secilliano, called the performance of Vega ‘disrespectful’.

“It is very clear there that some elements of our faith, sacred elements at that, were used for secular purposes, especially for entertainment,” the priest said.

“When I first saw it, I feel disgusted really,” he stated.

He also didn’t buy the alibi made by Vega, who claimed that his performance was also an act of worship.

Secillano also reminded the Catholics to avoid elements of the Church for entertainment like what Vega had done.

Meanwhile, he said that CBCP would allow other priests to file charges against Vega.

“They are free to do what they want, for example filing a case or whatever,” he said.

In his Facebook post, Secillano also discussed the possible legal charges against Vega.

“Art. 201 of the Revised Penal Code may be applicable,” Secillano said.

The Article 201 of the Revised Penal Code prohibits, “Immoral doctrines, obscene publications and exhibitions, and indecent shows,”

Voltes V: Legacy writer Suzette Doctolero may mensahe sa TVJ: “Bawal magsinungaling now kasi may mga resibo.”

Voltes V: Legacy head writer Suzette Doctolero urged Tito Sotto to stop spreading misleading information against TAPE Inc. after the latter claimed that the production company’s current officials only arrived on February 2023.

It can be recalled that Sotto expressed disappointment with the plans of TAPE Inc. to celebrate the 44th anniversary of Eat Bulaga despite the decision of the original hosts to leave the show.

“Ano itatapat nila eh wala naman sila doon in the last 43 years? Feb lang pumasok mga new officers then June ito mga bagitong hosts,” said Sotto.

However, several TAPE defenders believed that Sotto do not have access with the internal issues happening in the production company, saying that Sotto, including Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon, were only mere employees.

Suzette, in her tweet, shared a screencap showing the board meeting of TAPE Inc. in 2019, showing that Jon, Bullet, and Soraya Jalosjos were already part of the production company.

“Bawal magsinungaling now kasi may mga resibo.” said Suzette.

In her previous posts, Suzette also called out TVJ and called them liars for trying to put GMA Network in a bad light.

“Nanlaglag? Sinong nilaglag? Si Kuya Germa nga hanggang mamatay may show e. Baka naman kasi nauna nang nakipagsundo sa kabila bago malaman ng GMA na me problema na pala? Wag hula at puro tsismis alamin ang totoo.” she stated.

Television and Production Exponents Inc (TAPE Inc.) was reportedly not backing off with their plans to celebrate the 44th anniversary of Eat Bulaga despite the criticism they were receiving from the netizens.

It can be recalled that Eat Bulaga host Paolo Contis revealed the news to the press, saying that they’re already preparing for the big event on July 29.

Paolo said they prepared many surprises for their fans, but he refused to give more information about the celebration.

They’re also not planning to withdraw their plans despite the copyright infringement complaint filed by TVJ.

The legendary trio, Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon, asked the Marikina RTC to disallow TAPE Inc. from using Eat Bulaga title, its jingle, and also the segments that were conceptualized by their former creative director, Jeny Ferre, who also resigned from TAPE Inc.

Several Kapuso Facebook pages had already been promoting the upcoming celebration of Eat Bulaga.

“Malapit na tayo mga kapuso sa exciting part, 44 Years hands on sa pagbibigay ng saya at papremyo.” My Sparkle Notebook page wrote.

Meanwhile, E.A.T host Tito Sotto expressed disappointment with the plans of TAPE Inc., saying that they have no right to celebrate the 44th anniversary of Eat Bulaga.

“Kami orig na may karapatan mag-celebrate. From TAPE people and current hosts, none of them were there 44 years ago,” said Sotto.

“Ano itatapat nila eh wala naman sila doon in the last 43 years? Feb lang pumasok mga new officers then June ito mga bagitong hosts,” he added.

Pinakamayamang ‘pulubi’ sa buong mundo, nakapagpundar ng mahigit P54.3-M sa pamamalimos

A man from India had been declared the richest beggar in the world after wisely using the money he begged on the streets.

Bharat Jain, a resident of Mumbai, accumulated a net worth of $1-M (P54.3-M) after using the money he earned to buy properties and invest some of his money to invest in some businesses.

According to the report of The India Times, Bharat had been begging along the streets of Mumbai for 12 hours, earning around P39,000 to P49,000 monthly.

Bharat had bought an apartment unit worth P7-M and two commercial spaces that he had been renting to tenants for P20,000 monthly.

Despite his job, his two children were studying at a private school while his wife was attending their businesses.

The popular beggar said that he was only forced to beg after losing his job.

However, he never expected that he would earn more money begging along the streets than his previous job.

He said he would continue begging as it was the only well-paying job he knew because he was uneducated.

Meanwhile, Mumbai authorities were planning to do some operations to prevent the influx of beggars in their city.

In 2021, Mumbai launched a ‘zero beggars’ drive against people asking for alms.

Claudine Barretto’s lawyer, Ferdinand Topacio asks Sabrina M. to make a public apology: “Will give you three days”

Claudine Barretto’s lawyer, Atty Ferdinand Topacio, gave a three-day ultimatum to returning actress Sabrina M. to recant the story about her alleged ‘secret relationship’ with the late actor Rico Yan.

In an interview with veteran columnist Cristy Fermin, the lawyer said that Sabrina possibly committed a possible contravention when she claimed that she had a relationship with Rico before he passed away in 2002.

According to Topacio, Sabrina possibly tarnished the image of the late actor and his client, who’s also the former girlfriend of Rico.

Topacio said that they would explore legal actions against Sabrina if the actress refused to make a public apology to Claudine and Rico’s family.

“Will give you three days hanggang Linggo Sabrina M, marami namang talk shows please mag-sorry ka na lang kay Claudine, mag sorry ka sa pamilya ni Rico Yan, mag sorry ka sa alaala ni Rico Yan. Otherwise much to our regret ay kailangan po kaming kumilos sa paraang legal,”  he stated.

It can be recalled that Rico’s passing was the most followed topic in the country that year and even his burial was one of the most-attended funerals in the history of the country after 20,000 fans paid their final respect to the actor.

That’s why many showbiz reporters, including Cristy, couldn’t believe the account of Sabrina.

Even a close friend of Sabrina, Katrina Paula, already debunked the story made by the actress.

During the interview with Sembrano, Dagul said that one of his dreams was to see his daughter Jkhriez follow in his footsteps.

“Palaos na ako eh, tulad niyan hindi na ako nakakalakad, hindi makatakbo, so ang role ko talagang limitado lang, so na-belong ka na sa laos,” he added.

However, Jkhriez insisted that her father was still popular, especially on social media.

“Lagi niyang sinasabi na laos siya, pero maraming tao na nakatingala sa kanya,” she said.

“Legacy ka parin sa mata ng tao,” she added.

Jkhriez also shared that she encouraged her father to create content on social media because many fans were missing him after leaving his last show, ‘Goin’ Bulilit’ in 2019.

Tiba tiba!

The complaint filed by Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon against TAPE Inc. revealed much interesting information about the company owned by the Jalosjos family.

According to the 45-page complaint filed by the legendary trio before the Marikina Regional Trial Court, they claimed that TAPE Inc. have been earning P1.824 billion pesos yearly from Eat Bulaga alone.

TVJ said that the majority of TAPE Inc’s income comes from television advertisements.

The trio believed that TAPE should pay them around P17-M for airing a replayed episode of Eat Bulaga for three days, from June 1 to 3.

It can be recalled that last May 31, TVJ and all of Eat Bulaga hosts announced their resignation from TAPE Inc, forcing the company to air taped episode of the longest-running noontime show.

They also asked the court to stop TAPE Inc. from using the segments conceptualized by its former creative director Jeny Ferre.

TAPE currently have segments that are noticeably similar to the popular portions of Eat Bulaga, including ‘Word of the Rings’ and ‘G sa Gedli’, that believed to be counterparts of ‘Pinoy Henyo,’ and ‘Juan for All, All for Juan.

Meanwhile, TAPE Inc. insisted that they’re the registered owner of Eat Bulaga title and its segments so there’s no point for the trio to file a complaint.

Veteran columnist Cristy Fermin and her co-hosts Rommel Chika and Wendell Alvarez believed that Vice Ganda would never respond to Joey de Leon’s swipe against their show “It’s Showtime.”

It can be recalled that Joey took a swipe against the opening number of “It’s Showtime” during their launch on GMA Network, which featured Vice riding a helicopter to the Kapuso station building.

“Ganito kaliit lang ang studio namin sa TV5, parang elevator pero 1,000 floors naman ang taas ng ibinigay nyong pagpansin sa amin…lagpas helicopter!” said Joey.

While Kapamilya fans encouraged Vice to respond to Joey, Cristy believed that the comedian was not ready to clash with the veteran host.

Cristy was referring to the infamous feud between Joey and Willie in 2007, during the heat of the Eat Bulaga and Wowowee competition.

The veteran columnist also warned Vice if the comedian even attempted to respond to Joey.

Rommel also believed that Vice would never answer Joey’s swipe since E.A.T’s rating was higher than It’s Showtime.
