Lea Salonga talks about boundaries after backstage incident: “We’re human beings, first of all. We need to rest.”

International singer Lea Salonga talked about personal boundaries after last week’s viral dressing room incident.

Lea went viral on social media after vlogger, and businessman Christopher Carpilla posted a video where the singer can be seen lecturing her fans who entered the backstage even if they were not included on the guest list.

“GUSTO KO LANG PO IPOST. Bahala na po kayo humusga,” Christopher said in his post.

In an interview on New York Live, the singer explained that she only protected her personal boundaries and that fans should understand that celebrities also have the right to take a rest after their tiring performance.

“We’re human beings, first of all. We need to rest. We need to take time for ourselves when we say goodbye, when we make our curtain call, we head back to the room, that’s it,” said Lea.

“It’s an exhausting thing to do—a show. Even if I do sing one song, just one song, there’s a lot that goes into it, the preparation that goes into it is the same as when I’m preparing to sing for two and a half hours,” she added.

She believed that the issue sparked a conversation about the welfare of celebrities who also wanted to protect their privacy.

Celebrity impersonator Willie Nepomuceno passed away

One of the most popular impersonators in the country, Willie Nepomuceno, passed away on July 26, 2023.

In a statement made by the Nepomuceno family, the impersonator left the world peacefully at the age of 75.

“It is with deep sadness and heavy heart to announce the passing of our beloved father, WILLIE NEPOMUCENO on July 26, 2023, at the age of 75. He has peacefully joined our creator,” the statement of Nepomuceno family reads.

Nepomuceno became popular for impersonating several popular figures, including former Presidents Ferdinand Marcos, Fidel Ramos, Joseph Ejercito Estrada, and Noynoy Aquino. He also mimicked Fernando Poe Jr. and Dolphy.

The impersonator refused to imitate former President Rodrigo Duterte because he believed the latter was already funny and also wanted to stay away from controversy.

His dream was also not to become an impersonator but to become a singer and actor.

“But unluckily for me, everyone was good-looking during my time,” he said.

Award-winning actress and loyalist Elizabeth Oropesa couldn’t stop her tears while expressing her disappointment to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

In her video, Elizabeth said that she felt PBBM had already abandoned the loyalists who supported him during the campaign period.

She said she only wanted to feel that the president was also paying attention to his supporters and not just to a few people.

“‘Yung akin lang po, ‘yung pinagre-report-an mo ‘yung mga kasama mo narin naman ngayon, kami kahit kaunting importansya, kahit kaunting pagpapahalaga ba wala,” said Elizabeth.

“Nakikita ko naman po ‘yung sino sinong binibigyan niyo ng importansya at pagpapahalaga na wala naman noon,” she added.

The video reached millions of views online, and some even suspected that Elizabeth was upset because she was not invited to the second State of the Nation Address (SONA) of PBBM.

However, she denied the speculations from the netizens, saying that she only wanted to express her disappointment with the treatment they were receiving from the President.

She also reminded the supporters of PBBM that criticized her because of her video that she supported the Marcos family for 37 years.

“Masama bang umasa na Sana makahingi ng photo na may dedication? Masama bang mangarap na maimbitahan katulad ng mga dating umaalipusta sa kanila syang nakapaligid sa kanya ngayon? Sya ang gusto naming makaharap. Masama ba Yun?!!” she said in his post.

Ginaya? Arnold Clavio asks if a part of PBBM’s SONA speech is copied from Leni Robredo.

Kapuso journalist Arnold Clavio posted a clip from President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr’s second State of the Nation Address (SONA), comparing its similarity to former Vice President Leni Robredo’s speech during the presidential debates.

In the said speech, Marcos said that he was hoping that someday, no more Filipinos would be forced to work abroad.

“It is our wish that one day foreign employments will be driven by choice and not by necessity,” said Marcos.

It was similar to what Robredo said when she shared her opinion about Filipinos working abroad.

“Target talaga natin dapat na ‘yung mga kababayan natin ay lumalabas na lamang ng bansa para magtrabaho by choice and not out of necessity,” Robredo said.

In his Instagram post, Clavio couldn’t stop noticing the similarity between the two speeches.

“Ano ang probability na nagkataon lang ? Ano rin ang probability na kinopya , ginaya , hiniram ?” Clavio said.

“Kaya lang , nadala na tayo sa mga panggagaya ng kanyang mga kalihim sa mga departamento . Ayokong isipin .

“Minsan , tayo ay may iisa tayong hangarin . Basta sa ikabubuti ng kapwa Pilipino nagkakaisa tayo nang gustong mangyari .” he added.

He also praised the one who noticed the similarity of the said speeches.

Beauty Gonzales receives criticism for wearing excavated gold jewelry

Actress Beauty Gonzales stunned the public with the dress and jewelry she wore during the recent GMA Night Gala.

However, several academics noticed that Beauty was wearing a necklace, which came from the excavated jewelry used by ancient people to cover the eyes and mouth of the departed.

According to art critic and curator Marian Pastor Roces, the jewelry worn by Beauty was supposed to be displayed at government-owned museums or in the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas if it was legally excavated.

“Sure, the owners have been dead for a thousand years. BUT. This fashion victim is wearing mouth and eye covers: around 10 of them. Which is to say that the necklace was fashioned from excavations of many individuals. That is an astounding number of desecrated graves!” said Roces.

Historian Alvin D. Campomanes of the University of the Philippines – Manila explained the importance of the jewelry worn by the actress.

“Ayon sa mga antropólogo at historyador-pangkultura, sadyang sinusuotan ng mga ninuno natin ng mga gintong palamuti ang mga bangkay. Madalas, ginagamit itong pantakip sa mga bahagi ng mukha na may butas (i.e. mata, ilong, bibig) upang itaboy ang masasamang espiritung maaari pa ring pumasok sa katawan ng yumao,” the professor explained.

He also questioned how Beauty acquired the said jewelry.

As of writing, Beauty has yet to give any response to the criticism she received.

Netizens were also waiting for the National Historical Commission’s comment on the issue.
