Content creator Chloe San Jose finally reacted to the controversial post by Angelica Yulo against her son, two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo, which sparked the unending discussion on ‘Utang na Loob’ culture.

Angelica went viral on social media after she cheered for Japanese gymnast Shinnosuke Oka, who won the all-around final in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

In an interview with Toni Gonzaga, Chloe said that she was disappointed after she discovered the said post, saying that she couldn’t imagine someone, especially a mother, would cheer to the opponent of her own child.

“Syempre nasasaktan po ako kasi it happened to me na so I know how it feels like na your own blood is like parang putting you down. Yeah, family first pero family should be the first ones also na sinusuportahan ka, pinoprotektahan ka, so why is the opposite?” said Chloe.

“Sila ‘yung nauunang mag-down sa’yo, sila ‘yung una na hindi naniwala sa’yo. So why is that?” she added.

It can be recalled that Angelica already apologized for her remarks and denied that she was cheering for Carlos’ opponent during the Olympics.

Ai-Ai delas Alas expressed her support for a popular powdered drink brand that recently went viral after it honored Filipino pole-vaulter EJ Obiena.

In her Facebook post, Ai-Ai posted a photo of one of the brand’s popular products, saying that she remembered how her mother always provided her with powdered milk.

“Naalala ko nga kung gaano na katagal ang milo .. umiinom ako nito kasi binibili ako ng nanay ko .. ang sarap nito malamig tapos lalagyan mo sa ibabaw ng milo pag ininom mo ang dami sa bibig na and sa nguso mo ang sarp sarappppp yung hindi tunaw,” said Ai-Ai.

According to her, she also did the same thing to his children.

The said brand went viral on social media after some netizens questioned why the brand didn’t also invite Carlos in the homecoming they organized.

In a screencap shared by some viewers, they noticed Carlos’ brief visit on the said live selling.

Meanwhile, netizens believed that Carlos was supposed to watch his mother without clicking the video. Still, he possibly mistakenly clicked the live video, which resulted in him appearing in the notification.

Celebrity pediatrician and content creator Dr. Richard Mata believed that there was a reason why a popular brand of powdered drink decided to pursue getting Filipin pole-vaulter EJ Obiena as an endorser instead of two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo.

In his Facebook post, Dr. Richard said that the decision of the said brand was based on their target market, which consisted of parents.

“Bakit hindi si Carlos Yulo? Netizens, nagtanong sa pagkilala ng MILO kay EJ Obiena,” said  Dr. Mata.

“Answer: Dahil alam ng Milo na ang bumibili ng Milo ay mga Nanay hindi mga girlfriends,” he added.

The doctor might be referring to Carlos’ girlfriend, Chloe San Jose, who answered back to her boyfriend’s parents several times and even declared that she would end the cycle of ‘utang na loob’ culture.

It can be recalled that Carlos was currently facing controversy for publicly accusing his parents of pocketing the cash incentives he won in his past competitions.

However, Yulo’s parents denied the allegations and even explained that they used the money not for their own gain but to secure Carlos’ future.

Meanwhile, EJ was enjoying a positive image because of his attitude.

Despite not winning a medal, EJ was recognized by the said brand and even organized a homecoming for him.

Rudy Baldwin went viral on social media after she was mentioned by two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo’s mother, Angelica Yulo.

However, the brand also didn’t evade criticism from some Carlos supporters, who accused it of supporting a ‘toxic family culture’ for not inviting the Filipino gymnast during the homecoming.

Some netizens who defended the brand believed that it was the right decision for them to distance themselves from Carlos amid his family issues.

They believed that the brand promotes traditional Filipino values, which Carlos was allegedly not practicing as he refused to meet his family after winning two gold medals at the last Olympics.
