Government to require Americans to get visa before traveling to PH if they enforce ban against De Lima’s accusers

The government is planning to require Americans to get a visa before traveling to the Philippines if the US enforced the entry ban of Filipino officials involved in the detention of Senator Leila De Lima.

In an interview, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said that all Americans are going to get a visa first before entering the Philippine territory as their response to the 2020 budget signed by US President Donald Trump.

The said budget includes a provision that gave authorization to the US Secretary of State to ban Filipino officials involved in De Lima’s detention.

“Should a ban from entry into US territory be enforced against Philippine officials involved in – or by reason of – Senator de Lima’s lawful detention, this government will require all Americans intending to come to the Philippines to apply and secure a visa before they can enter Philippine territory,” he said.

Panelo also revealed that the two American senators who proposed the said provisions, Senators Dick Durbin and Patrick Leahy are not allowed to visit the Philippines anymore.

“The President is immediately ordering the Bureau of Immigration to deny US Senators Dick Durbin and Patrick Leahy, the imperious, uninformed and gullible American legislators who introduced the subject provision in the US 2020 Budget, entry to the Philippines,” he added.

Panelo said that they don’t have any choice but to respond if the US enforce the ban against De Lima’s accusers.

“Lahat. Kung ie-enforce nila. Yun ang colatilla doon. If they will enforce this provision, in the US budget, then we will be compelled to require all Americans to secure a visa before they can be allowed entry,” he said.

“Napakaswerte nga sila, hindi sila binibigyan ng visa samantalang tayo nagpapakahirap. Masyado silang nagging privileged,” he added.

Panelo told the US Government not to interfere with the Philippine government which handling the case of De Lima.

“No other state can dictate upon our officials, judges, and justices the method upon which we enforce or interpret our laws vis-à-vis those who are believed to have committed a violation against the same,” he said.

The Spokesperson said that Duterte also refused the invitation of President Trump to visit America.

Minor caught throwing rocks at PNR trains says that they’re only doing it for “fun”

While the netizens are praising the Department of Transportation (DOTr) by trying to revive the Philippine National Railways (PNR), several people, including minors, are allegedly trying to sabotage its operations.

According to PNR, they reported 14 incidents of people throwing rocks to the running trains owned by PNR, which endangers the safety of the people using their service.

PNR OIC Spokesperson Crissy Ecalnea said that there’s a difficulty in catching the people throwing rocks at their trains.

“Mahirap kasing manghuli o mag-identify noong sa stoning incidents kasi naglalakbay ‘yung tren. And then usually ‘yung mga tao, nagtatago sila,” Ecalnea said.

However, one culprit was caught by the authorities and discovered that it’s a teenager.

The minor suspect said that they’re only doing it for fun.

The authorities don’t have any choice but to free him and just remind the parents of the suspect not to do the same thing again.

“Wala ring maibigay na magandang dahilan kasi minsan, isang katuwaan. Pinagsabihan ‘yung magulang na pagsabihan yung anak,” Ecalnea said.

Because of the recent incidents, PNR said that they’re pushing for a bill that would make sabotaging train operations unlawful.

They said that they wanted to give additional punishment to the people throwing rocks at their trains because they’re prioritizing the safety of the passengers.

“Pag nabato siya, may tendency siya na ‘yung mga bubog o ‘yung glass niya, mag-shatter doon sa mga tao, tamaan ‘yung mga tao. So isa ‘yon sa added layer na ginagawa natin temporarily,” she said.

The rock-throwing incident also halted the plan operations of new trains to reach Alabang station.

“Next week you will see this train running on the PNR system… FTI to Malabon (stations). Gusto nga ho naming isama yung Alabang, kaya lang ho dinelay muna namin,” Tugade said.

“Kasi ang nangyayari ho ‘don sa Alabang, kailangang sabihin ko it…. ‘pag dumaan ‘yong linya ng tren sa Alabang, binabato, tinitirador. So it puts into jeopardy the safety of the riding public, ngayon ho titiradorin ho ‘wag muna natin padaanin ‘yong bagong train, hulihin muna yung mga animal na ‘to,” he added.

Netizens expressed disappointment over the rock-throwing incidents at PNR.

“This is why Filipinos, don’t deserve new things. Salaula talaga at walang Modo,” a netizen said.

Atty. Topacio on decision of US to ban Filipinos involved in De Lima’s detention: Ok lang ban sa US, basta kulong siya forever!

Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) legal counsel Atty. Ferdinand Topacio said that he’s not afraid of getting ban from visiting the United States after American President Donald Trump signed his country’s 2020 budget which includes the cancellation of Visa of the people involved in the detention of Senator Leila De Lima.

On a Twitter post, Topacio said that he doesn’t care if he’s not allowed to visit the U.S anymore as long as De Lima will be detained for the rest of her life.

“What is important is I do my share,” Topacio, who’s using twitter username @yesyesyo13 said.

Topacio is one of the people who accused Senator Leila De Lima of being corrupt and getting involved in illegal trade during her days as Secretary of Department of Justice (DOJ).

Several years ago, Topacio called De Lima a trafficker in a hearing about the revival of capital punishment in the country.

DOJ Secretary Menardo Guevarra made the same comment as Topacio on the recent actions of the U.S.

“I thought the US wants everyone to observe due process?… As for me, I don’t give a damn s_ _ _ if I’m included in the US list. I’m not the one who has to answer to my conscience… (I’m) shocked that a foreign government can unduly influence or interfere with another country’s legal and judicial processes by threats of visa cancellations and asset confiscation,” he said.

Cayetano also criticized the U.S for its decision.

“This is the best example of weaponizing human rights. Walang problema na ipaglaban natin ang human rights kasi yan talaga ay para sa ating lahat… But look at the implication of that law. Kapag sumunod ang officials natin at pinakawalan, bibigyan tayo ng ng visa, babagsak naman ang judicial system natin,” Cayetano said.

Meanwhile, Senator Leila De Lima is grateful for the recent actions of the US against her accusers.

“The US travel ban has put this regime in its proper place in the world,” the lady Senator said.

Cebu priest to parishioners: “If you don’t believe in human rights, you might as well not celebrate Christmas”

A Cebu-based priest told the parishioners of Carmelite Monastery to know the importance of respecting Human Rights.

On the 6th day of the Simbang Gabi in the said church, Father Ramon Echica asked his audience why Filipinos are thinking that taking someone’s life is already accepted in the Philippines.

He even said that the people who brought Christianity in the Philippines but no longer practicing the said religion is ironically the one trying criticizing our country, “telling us that it is not okay”.

He then told the Catholics to respect human rights like how they respect their religion.

“God, who created us in his image, is assumed in our human nature,” Echica who’s also the dean of the Seminario Mayor de San Carlos’ theology department said according to an article of Rappler.

“If you don’t believe in human rights, you might as well not celebrate Christmas,” he added.

This is not the first time that a Catholic priest criticized what’s happening in the country.

It’s already known that President Rodrigo Duterte has been criticized for allegedly committing EJKs and one of his vocal critics are the priests of the Roman Catholic Church.

The President even said that the Catholic Church is going to disappear in 25 years because of the controversies being faced by the said religion.

Itong Katoliko na ito, will disappear. In almost 25 years wala na ‘yan.

However, despite his criticisms to the largest Church in the Philippines, the President still remains popular as he gained 87 percent trust rating in the latest Pulse Asia.

Former Senator Saguisag says that Duterte running for Vice President is “unconstitutional”

Former Senator Rene Saguisag, in his latest column, insisted that President Rodrigo Duterte is not allowed by the law to run as Vice President in the 2022 elections.

Saguisag made the statements after survey firm Publicus Asia Inc. (PAI) announced that the top choice of the people of Mindanao and Visayas is the tandem between Davao City Mayor Inday Sara and President Rodrigo Duterte.

“I teach that a Prez cannot run for Veep as he may not do indirectly what he cannot do directly. His intent is to be Prez again but reelection is constitutionally interdicted,” said Saguisag.

However, Saguisag is not confident that the justices of the Supreme Court would block the possible attempt of Duterte to run for election as Vice President.

“But again, the terrorized judiciary may rule that such unconstitutional circumvention of the framers’ intent is allowed,” he said.

On Thursday, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo reacted also in the said survey, saying that the possibilities are “limitless” for a President to run as Vice President after his term ends.

However, Panelo explained that the final decision is still up to the President if he still wanted to enter politics again.

“I’m not surprised. That has been done before in the City of Davao when both of them ran as mayor and vice mayor,” Panelo said.

The Spokesperson said that the President only “smiled” when he was informed about the survey results.

In the survey by Publicus Asia called PAHAYAG 2019, it showed that VisMin voters wanted Davao City mayor Inday Sara Duterte to become the next President of the Philippines with 35.1%.

Following Duterte-Carpio were Senator Grace Poe-Llamanzares (11%), Manila City Mayor Francis “Isko Moreno” Domagoso (7.8%), Senator Manny Pacquiao (5.5%), House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano (4.6%), and Senator Christopher “Bong” Go (4.5%).

Meanwhile, PAI also released the result of their survey in the Vice Presidential race and surprisingly, President Rodrigo Duterte, the father of Inday Sara was included in the list.

It showed that President Duterte garnered 11.6% while Inday Sara received 11.5% which is almost a tie.

Meanwhile, Moreno is in third place who garnered 9.85% of votes.

Jim Paredes, other netizens cheer Janine Gutierrez’s after latter’s comment on Bong Revilla: “Wag ka sanang matinag!”

Janine Gutierrez received support from her colleagues in showbusiness and other known personalities after she received criticisms from talent manager Lolit Solis after she made a comment over the television comeback of Senator Bong Revilla Jr.

Gutierrez raised the eyebrows of Solis after she made a short comment about Revilla’s return to showbusiness.

“Oh God,” Gutierrez said.

“Di ko kaya besh,” she told her follower.

One of the famous people who cheered Gutierrez is the legendary OPM artist Jim Paredes who said that the actress could be the next target of the internet trolls.

He also encouraged Guitierrez to be strong.

“Be strong Janine. Trolls will hit you. Wag ka sanang matinag,” said Paredes.

Another artist Juan Miguel Severo also expressed his admiration to Gutierrez and urged the netizens to support her.

“Hi  @janinegutierrez. Thanks for speaking truth to power. Mas gumanda ka, mga 200%.  And guys I wish you’d give her some love. Celebs and high profile individuals are dissuaded to get political. Those who do so despite need to know we got their back,” he said.

Meanwhile, Solis in another Instagram post said that artists should be careful if they’re going to criticize their colleagues in showbusiness.

The talent manager also said that she’s now respecting the opinion of Gutierrez, explaining that she’s only trying to protect Revilla like a mother who wanted to shield her child from criticisms.

“Puwede sila magalit sa writer, magsalita, pero pag kapwa nila artista dapat maingat sila. Iyon bang kapwa ko artista ito, kapatid ko ito, dapat tulungan kami, dapat kampi kami. Kung mali ako dun, sorry. As I want people to respect my opinion, I will also respect theirs,” Solis said.

“At tulad ni Lotlot de Leon na nasaktan dahil sa anak niya na si Janine Gutierrez, para din akong isang ina kay Bong Revilla na nasaktan din. But now, at least I know na never matatanggap ni Janine Gutierrez si Bong Revilla. I respect that, I admire her for being open with her feelings. Sorry Lotlot. Case closed,” she added.

Lolit Solis slams Janine Guitierrez over her “Oh God” reaction on Bong Revilla’s showbiz comeback

Talent manager and showbiz writer Lolit Solis criticized artist Janine Guitierrez over her short comment about the comeback of Senator Bong Revilla on television.

On December 18, Guitierrez on her social media page answered a question from GMA-7 asking the netizens if they’re ready to see the return of the controversial politician-actor on television.

“Oh God,” Gutierrez twitted.

Guitierrez only wrote two words as a reaction, but it’s already enough to gain the attention of Solis who’s the talent manager of Revilla.

Yesterday, Solis used her Instagram page to address Guitierrez, criticizing her for not allowing Revilla to have a second chance.

According to her, “the goodness of people” is the reason why Guitierrez is enjoying a showbiz career right now.

“Siguro gusto ni Janine Gutierrez na mapansin ko siya Salve. The nerve na mag-negative comment siya sa TV comeback ni Bong Revilla. How can she be so cruel for a second chance to a co-actor like Bong without even thinking if not for the goodness of people she won’t be where she is today,” Solis wrote.

“Alam naman niya siguro ang history ng nanay niyang si Lotlot de Leon. Sa kabutihan ng pamilya ni Nora Aunor, pinalaki at inalagaan siya, at nagkaroon ng anak na Janine Gutierrez na niyakap din at minahal ng showbiz,” she added.

Solis also mentioned the connection of Revilla to the family Guitierrez, saying that the celebrity should be the one who’s supporting the senator in his political comeback as his grandfather, Christopher De Leon is a friend of the latter.

“Dapat sa mga pagkakataon gusto niya magbigay opinyon, nandun ang pang-unawa at respeto, dahil kaibigan ng lolo niyang si Christopher de Leon si Bong Revilla. I respect what she feels, or her political beliefs, pero sana inisip niya more than anyone else, siya dapat ang mas maging magaan sa pagbibigay chance sa isang tao na gusto bumalik sa pinanggalingan niyang mundo,” she said.

The talent manager is also thankful that Guitierrez is “just a talent” of GMA-7 and not a high official of the network because the latter might not give chance to Revilla to return from showbiz.

“Buti na lang isa lang talent ng GMA si Janine Gutierrez, just imagine kung siya ang may-ari ng network, hindi pala niya bibigyan ng trabaho si Bong Revilla. Hindi siya papayag na ampunin ang isang gusto magkarun ng trabaho,” Solis said.

Lolit even seems compared the achievements of Revilla to Guitierrez.

“Buti na lang at hindi siya naging box office queen na sana makatulong para sa career ni Bong, dahil wala pa naman ako narinig na naging blockbuster movie niya, or tv show na naging sobra ang taas ng rating, kaya hindi din siya makakatulong sa career ni Bong Revilla,” she added.

At the end of her post, Solis gave advice to Guitierrez to love her colleagues in showbusiness.

“Hoping you will do well, kumita at mag rate mga ginagawa mong project,” Solis said.

Guitierrez didn’t respond to the criticisms of Solis.

Leah Navaro criticizes sleepy President: “Duterte needs to resign and give the reins to VP Leni”

Singer Leah Navarro expressed disappointment over the habit of President Rodrigo Duterte to sleep, asking who’s the people running the country while the chief executive is asleep.

On a tweet, the known critic of the President who shared a statement from Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said that Duterte should resign and give his position to a more productive person.

According to Navarro, the best person she can see to replace President Duterte is Vice President Leni Robredo.

She claimed that Robredo is far more productive than Duterte, who’s being criticized for his sleeping habit.

“So who runs the country while Duterte sleeps? If he can’t keep awake long enough to do his job, he’s not doing his job,” Navarro said.

“Duterte needs to resign and give the reins to VP Leni who is far more awake, woke, and productive,” she added.

Navarro was reacting to Panelo’s statement that he’s unsure if the President is already aware of the judgment against the Ampatuans on Thursday.

According to Panelo, the promulgation of the judgment on the Ampatuan case happened during the sleeping time of the President.

In past interviews, President Duterte admitted that since he took the highest position in the country, he already losing some sleep and weight.

“Five hours. Kulang talaga. I’m most completely animated pagka mga seven to eight hours or longer,” the 74-year-old President said.

One of the reasons why he lacks of sleep is because he’s not comfortable staying in Manila and prefers to rest in his home in Davao City.

“And I cannot sleep when — only with my children, only with my children. At saka ‘yung amoy ng kumot ko,” he said.

Mayor Isko Moreno supports President Duterte’s plan to revive ROTC: “Diyan matuto ka ng disiplina”

Mayor Isko Moreno expressed support to the plan of President Rodrigo Duterte to revive the mandatory Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) program in public and private senior high schools nationwide in a bid to promote patriotism among Filipino youths.

Moreno, after attending the first Presidential Silent Drill Competition at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila, said that the event he attended is a “prelude” in the possible comeback of ROTC.

The Mayor shared the importance of ROTC to his followers.

“Diyan matututo ka ng disiplina, kasi kapag na-late ka ay makikipag lips-to-lips ka sa lupa… camaraderie, synchrony, tapos tataas ang hearing capacity mo because you follow instruction,” Moreno said.

“So marami siyang mabuting maidudulot sa atin as a person, not only as a student,” he added.

Moreno believes that the ROTC program could also help the students to be ready if ever that there’s a big calamity happen in the country.

He also said that he understands the people who are against the revival of ROTC, because of the controversy it faced in the past, but Moreno strongly believes that reviving the said program could give more benefits to the people.

Moreno and Duterte met on Friday after the Manila City Mayor welcomed the President who also attended the Presidential Silent Drill Competition.

In 2000, ROTC faced many controversies that resulted from losing support from the people and politicians.

In 2002, the Republic Act 9163 or the National Service Training Program Act of 2001 was signed into, allowing college students to choose between ROTC, Literacy Training Service, and Civil Welfare Training Service as part of their required National Service Training Program.

Netizen explains how ABS-CBN could gain the approval of President Duterte for their franchise extention

Amid the possible closure of television network giant ABS-CBN, a netizen said that there’s still a possibility for them to have a franchise extension despite the disapproval from President Rodrigo Duterte.

On a lengthy Facebook post, Noel Landero Sarifa believes that the management of ABS-CBN should be blamed for what happens to their company right now and not the President.

He believes that the artists and employees of ABS-CBN should not defend the network and ask the management of the company to fix their issues with the government if they really wanted to extend their franchise.

Sarifa said that he doesn’t hate the ABS-CBN, admitting that he’s one of the subscribers of the channel, however, he disliked how the management of the television network allegedly tried to discredit the President several times.

At the end of his post, he suggested that ABS-CBN should stop trying to gain the sympathy of the public and tried to fix the real issues being faced by their company.

This is what he said:

“Ang paglapastangan at pag-abuso ng kanilang kapangyarihan ng ABS-CBN Management ang naglagay sa kanilang Company sa panganib and now they are using their employees/artist to rally against Duterte o gamitin ang kanilang mga artista para makakuha ng sympathy sa taong bayan. Kung matatalino tong mga artista at empleyado ng ABS CBN they should plea with the management to set things right with the government and not to use them to gain public sympathy. Kaso sino nga ba namang empleyado ang kakalaban sa management kahit mali pa ito syempre dahil ABS CBN nagpapasahod sa kanila dun sila kakampi.

We dont hate the artist and the employees, we love abs-cbn shows, we hate the management for using their influence in spreading black propaganda against the Duterte Admistration, even before Duterte become president, highlighting the bad, mum with the accomplishments and the truth. Triggering public outrage and spreading fake news. ABS-CBN should stop using their artist na sila ung magmakaawa sa taumbayan. Harapin ng management si Duterte, settle their financial obligation with the government, di pa huli ang lahat. If they will do what is right there is no reason for the President not to grant their franchise but until then #NotoABSCBNFranchise
#YESTOABSCBNShutdown”

The franchise of ABS-CBN is set to expire in March 2020 and several employees and artists working for the said company are already asking the President to change his mind.

However, last week, President Duterte renewed his criticisms against ABS-CBN and told its management not to expect any franchise renewal.
