Rendon Labador, dismayado sa bagong titulo ng noontime show nila Paolo Contis: “Sobrang panget”

Motivational Speaker Rendon Labador didn’t feel motivated by the new title of the noontime show handled by Television and Production Exponents (TAPE) Inc.

It can be recalled that the Marikina RTC ordered TAPE Inc. and GMA Network to stop using the Eat Bulaga title following the copyright infringement charges filed by Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon, and Jeny Ferre against them.

TAPE quickly followed the court order and changed its title for its Saturday episode, removing the Eat Bulaga logo and title.

The hosts of the Kapuso noontime show announced their new title, ‘Tahanang Pinakamasaya.’

However, the new title received mixed reactions from the netizens, including Rendon.

“Sobrang panget ng pangalan! sino naka isip niyan? TAG LINE tawag diyan hindi TITLE yan,” said Rendon.

“Ang daming magagandang title yan pa tlaga naisip ninyo?” he added.

Meanwhile, TAPE Inc. said that they’re still planning to reverse the court’s decision.

They also criticized the decision and called it ‘surprising.’

“Initial reaction, among others, we were surprised that the court ruled on trademark ownership, trademark infringement and cancellation of trademark when the case pending in court is copyright infringement,” Atty. Maggie Abraham-Garduque, the lawyer of TAPE said.

“Worst these cases for trademark ownership and cancellation of trademark are pending on appeal before the IPO. We will definitely file an appeal to this decision,” she added.

TVJ emosyonal matapos nilang magamit muli ang Eat Bulaga title

Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon, and the other cast of Eat Bulaga couldn’t hide their happiness after they finally gained the freedom to use the title of the longest-running noontime show after several months of legal battle.

On the December 6 episode of their show, TVJ finally used the Eat Bulaga title and even performed its original theme song.

After the performance, the legendary trio addressed their fans and thanked them for their support.

“Maraming salamat sa Panginoong Diyos dahil nakamit na namin ang aming ipinapanalangin,” said Tito.

They also explained the decision of the Marikina RTC against TAPE Inc. and GMA Network, which forbade them from using the Eat Bulaga title.

“Ibig sabihin din po niyan e nanalo po tayo. Tayo po ay sumunod sa batas at kumapit sa katotohanan,” said Vic. “Isa lang po ang sinasabi ng bata at mga manonood, isa lang ang pwedeng tawaging Eat Bulaga,”

“Isa lang ang pwedeng tawaging Eat Bulaga at ‘yun ay ang Eat Bulaga sa TV5,” he added.

The teary-eyed ‘bossing,’ also thanked all the hosts, staff, and advertisers who supported them.

“Eto ay hindi lamang laban para sa pamagat o title, ito po ay laban sa programang minahal namin at minahal ninyong lahat,” he said.

Vic also added that other programs could still bring happiness to their viewers legally and peacefully.

Television and Production Exponents (TAPE) Incorporated already removed the Eat Bulaga logo and title on its social media page following the decision from the Marikina RTC.

Netizens noticed the changes when they visited the Facebook page of TAPE, removing Eat Bulaga from their title and replacing it with ‘Tahanang Pinakamasaya.’ which is a line from their new theme song.

It can be recalled that the court ordered TAPE Inc. and GMA Network to stop using the Eat Bulaga title, theme song, and other things associated with the brand.

Eat Bulaga fans couldn’t hide their happiness after TAPE finally decided to stop using the title of the longest-running noontime show for now.

The decision was announced by Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon on December 5.

Meanwhile, TAPE Inc. said that they were planning to appeal the decision, saying that they were surprised by the outcome of the complaint filed against them by TVJ.

They’re also being asked to pay millions of pesos for using the title illegally.

Television and Production Exponents (TAPE) Incorporated criticized the decision released by the Marikina Regional Trial Court on January 5, which forbade them to use the Eat Bulaga title.

In a statement,  TAPE Inc. lawyer, Atty. Maggie Abraham-Garduque, expressed their disappointment over the decision of the court, calling it ‘surprising.’

“Initial reaction, among others, we were surprised that the court ruled on trademark ownership, trademark infringement and cancellation of trademark when the case pending in court is copyright infringement,” she said.

“Worst these cases for trademark ownership and cancellation of trademark are pending on appeal before the IPO. We will definitely file an appeal to this decision,” she added.

According to the said decision, GMA Network and TAPE Inc. have no right to use the Eat Bulaga title anymore due to the complaint filed by Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon, and Jeny Ferre.

TAPE and GMA were also not allowed to play the Eat Bulaga jingle, and also to air past episodes of the noontime show.

They also ordered TAPE Inc. to pay a total of P3-M.

Meanwhile, TVJ Productions has yet to give a response to the recent legal step made by TAPE Inc.

Paolo Contis became the most popular new host of Eat Bulaga due to the statements being made during the airing of the longest-running noontime show.

The controversial actor was not afraid to give his opinion in public, even on the trademark battle between Television and Production Exponents (TAPE) Inc. and Eat Bulaga.

The actor also went viral last month following the decision of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) which removed the trademark ownership of TAPE Inc. over Eat Bulaga.

“Magandang tanghali! Nakaputi ako ngayon, iba ang outfit-an ko ngayon pero simple lang ang gusto kong sabihin para sa ating mga Kapuso. Mga Kapuso, mahaba pa po ang laban. Ibig sabihin, legally, wala pang final. Okay?,” said Paolo.

“Pero ito lang po ang pangako namin, ano man ang mangyari, ang nasimulan po namin na tulong at saya ay itutuloy lang po namin araw-araw. Dahil ‘yun naman po ang dahilan kung bakit kami pumapasok araw-araw. Kayo po ang dahilan kaya nandito kami,” he added.

After TVJ gained another major victory on January 5, netizens couldn’t stop themselves from swarming Paolo’s social media page.

Netizens were waiting for Paolo would make another public statement on the Saturday episode of their show.

Television and Production Exponents (TAPE) Incorporated was ordered by the Marikina City Regional Trial Court to pay a hefty amount of money for using the Eat Bulaga trademark illegally.

According to the decision of the court on the copyright infringement charges filed by Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon, and Jeny Ferre against TAPE Inc. and GMA Network, the former production company handled the ‘Dabarkads’ should pay a total of P3,000,000 to the plaintiffs; P2,000,000 for the temperate damages, P500,000 for exemplary damages, and an Attorney’s Fee of P500,000.

They’re also not allowed to use Eat Bulaga title, jingle, or even air playback of the past episodes of the longest-running noontime show.

It can be recalled that TVJ filed several complaints against TAPE after the company insisted that they were the rightful owner of Eat Bulaga despite the popular belief that Joey was the one who coined it.

In a separate decision published by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL), TAPE failed to prove that they invented Eat Bulaga, resulting in them losing the trademark ownership of the title.

As of writing, TAPE Inc. and GMA Network have yet to release a statement following the release of the decision against them.

Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon announced another major victory amid their legal battle against their former production company Television and Production Exponents (TAPE) Inc., and former network GMA.

In their Facebook post, Tito read the judgment made by Marikina Court where they filed the copyright infringement case against TAPE and GMA for their continuous usage of the Eat Bulaga title.

The court ordered TAPE and GMA:

  1. to avoid using trademarks Eat Bulaga, EB, including all the logos associated with subject parts and its shows, programs, projects, or promotions.
  2. Usage of Eat Bulaga single/song or any part of it on projects, shows, and promotions.
  3. Airing and broadcasting of playback or any recorded episodes of Eat Bulaga shows before 31st May 2023.

It can be recalled that the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) removed the trademark rights of TAPE Inc.

E.A.T staff and hosts couldn’t hide their happiness after hearing the decision of the court, which gave them the right to use the Eat Bulaga title again.

“Tayo po ang may-ari ng Eat Bulaga,” said Tito.

On May 31, 2023, TVJ, hosts, and staff of Eat Bulaga left the show due to internal issues happened involving its executives.

TAPE Inc. didn’t give up the Eat Bulaga title and kept using it.

Before ending the live, TVJ and the staff of Eat Bulaga sang their original song as a symbol as they’re now legally allowed to use it again.

Ai-Ai delas Alas explained why he stopped helping the former child actor Jiro Manio after taking care of him for several months.

In an interview with Pep, Ai-Ai went viral in 2015 after she announced that she would help rehabilitate Jiro, who was reportedly hooked on different vices during that time.

However, after several years, Ai-Ai decided to end her charitable acts to Jiro.

In 2020, the comedian said that she already lost all hope in helping Jiro after she learned that the former actor was still continuing his vices despite being in rehabilitation.

“Parang pakiramdam ko, yung lahat ng binuhos kong effort, lahat ng binuhos ko na tulong, pangaral, suporta sa pamilya, parang natapon na lang nang ganoon,” she said.

“So ako, wala na. Nawalan na ako ng pag-asa. ‘Wala na, hindi na magbabago si Jiro. Tutal, nung ipina-rehab ko siya, 23 years old siya… 24, 25, 26… matanda na siya. Hindi naman siya 17 o menor de edad. So, sabi ko, ‘Siguro, tama na yung nagawa ko para sa kanya,” she added.

Fortunately, Jiro decided to continue his rehabilitation and in an interview last 2023, the actor showed improvement in his journey to change himself for the better.

Ai-Ai watched the interview conducted by Julius Babao, saying that she was happy that she was wrong in her conclusion.

“Doon naman sa interview nakita ko naman na okay siya and I hope Jiro na ipagpatuloy mo ‘yan maging okay ka forever and sana bumalik doon sa dati na and I hope maging tuloy tuloy na ang pagaling mo,” she said.

Jiro went viral again on social media after he sold his Gawan Urian Best Actor Trophy for only P75,000.
