A lawyer said that he preferred to see content creators like Deo “Diwata” Balbuena and Rosmar Tan become lawmakers than artists like Lito Lapid and Robin Padilla.

In his Facebook post, Atty. Wilfredo Garrido said that Rosmar and Diwata had already proved themselves by becoming successful entrepreneurs and vloggers, compared to some artists who decided to run only because they were popular.

“It’s easy to dismiss the candidacies of Diwata and Rosmar Tan. But take a hard look. They’re successful businessmen in their own right, having started from scratch and prospered against all odds,” he said.

“Contrast them with the actors who prosper through nepotism in the “industriya”, who are all good looks and no brains, who have no street smarts, who parlay their parents’ names and successes. Worse, many of them are successful or look heroic only as fictional characters, but are utterly inept or naive about real world challenges,” he added.

Diwata was running as a nominee for the Vendors Party list, while Rosmar attempted to become a councilor of one of Manila’s districts.

Actress and television host Carmina Villarroel answered the accusations that she was an elitist and a controlling parent to her children.

During the media conference held for her GMA Afternoon series “Abot Kamay na Pangarap,” Carmina said that she was saddened by the negative comments she has been receiving from the netizens.

It can be recalled that Carmina was blamed for the breakup between her son Mavy Legaspi and actress Kyline Alcantara.

“It’s just so sad na people… parang may misconception lang. Kasi katulad nga nung sinabi ko, antagal ko na sa industriya, yung mga nakasabayan kong artista, or press, or yung mga fans ko ever since, you guys would know,” she said.

“It’s just so sad na ang social media ngayon, may nabasa lang, may napanood lang, papaniwalaan na kaagad without really identifying or without really researching or knowing the truth o yung pinagsimulan ng video… Na parang ngayon talaga, papaniwalaan nila kung ano yung gusto mong paniwalaan,” she said.

Actress Andrea Brillantes has received criticism on social media in the past few days due to allegations that she received VIP treatment to secure a ticket for Filipino-American artist Olivia Rodrigo’s concert.

It can be recalled that the ticket for Olivia’s concert at the Philippine Arena would only cost P1,500, but the seats would be randomized based on fairness.

Some netizens and clients of a bank that announced two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo as their newest brand ambassador have expressed their disappointment with the decision of the said company.

Several netizens swarmed the social media page of the said bank and declared that they would not patronize the company.

Some individuals who also claimed to be clients of the bank said that they would transfer their money to another financial institution.

“Not interested. Stick ako sa BPI. Masamang impluwensiya sa mga kabataan, bastos sa magulang,” a netizen said.

Lian Paz’s partner, John Cabahug, said that he almost made a move to adopt Xonia and Xalene legally.

In an interview, John shared that sometimes, Xonia and Xalene used his surname when they were doing school activities, which prompted him to come up with the idea of adopting the children so they could use his surname anywhere.

“May mga instances na rin sa school na sa family name, ang nilalagay nila ’yong family name ko. Hindi namin alam [ni Lian],” said John.

However, John admitted that the process of adopting Xonia and Xalene would be challenging as they were required to ask for Paolo’s consent.

In her social media post, Lian shared the letter made by Xonia for John after taking care of her.
