President Duterte’s sister support ABS-CBN franchise extension: Dapat may puso rin ang batas!

Presidential Sister Jocellyn Duterte-Villarica expressed her support to the franchise extension of ABS-CBN, the broadcasting company repeatedly criticized by her older brother in the past.

In a Facebook post, Duterte-Villarica said that ABS-CBN should be given mercy and let them operate instead of being forced to close down like what the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) did.

“Abs CBN should get the EXTENSION they are asking for, dapat mai puso rin ang BATAS clemency should be applied…”, Duterte wrote.

Most of her followers, who are supporters of President Duterte was surprised by the support of the presidential sister to the network.

However, the presidential sister defended her stand on the ABS-CBN franchise issue.

“Hindi lng si Cayetano ang nag desisyon niyan, nasa batas yan bigyan ng due process, Madam,kaya nga pinapairal yan,kasi kung hindi, sasabihin nila bakit hindi gawin ang pagdinig ng karapatan nila, yan ang due process…gets mo!Pag ayaw ng congreso pagbigyan ang panawagan nila para sa extension, mai kinikilingan cla? Cno ngayon ang masasangkot sa usapan? Cge pag isipan mo!” Duterte said.

Duterte also told one of the netizens not to judge ABS-CBN ‘without the benefit of due process’.

“Sir yun po mindset ninyo, you are judging them without the benefit of due process”…
So therefore you want it it as “trial by publicity”…labag sa batas!” she said.

The Presidential sister also said that popular people like Angel Locsin also asked the government to give ABS-CBN a chance.

“Humingi na po ng tawad si Charo, at si Angel naman nakikiusap, makinig naman tayo na ang hinihingi nila ay bigyan cla ng karapatan humingi ng extension, habang inaayos ang mga isyu…hindi ibig sabihin abswelto na cla sa pananagutan nila! Dba po?..
.Bago ako husgaan wala akong tinangap na pabuya, hindi ako ganon! ,Ang hustisya wlang kinikilingan, tao lng humusga sa kapwa…mero din naman clang karapatan marinig…hindi trial by publicity…ano man ang kasalanan, panagutan… yan ang batas… tao lng nagkakamali,” she stated.

A few days ago, the House of Representatives led by Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano granted provisional franchise to ABS-CBN until October 31.

“Providing ABS-CBN with a provisional franchise valid until 31 October 2020 will give both the House of Representatives and the Senate [the opportunity] to hear the issues being raised for and against the renewal, and assess, with complete impartiality and fairness, whether or not the network shall be granted a franchise for another (25) years. We cannot, in good conscience, sweep the accusations under the rug,” the bill said.

Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV condemned the action of the authorities against the salesman who allegedly called President Rodrigo Duterte ‘buang’ or insane.

The salesman identified as Reynaldo C. Orcullo, 41, a resident of Brgy Triangulo, Nasipit town, Agusan del Norte was facing cybercrime charges for his Facebook comment against President Duterte.

According to Trillanes, Orcullo is only trying to exercise his freedom of speech and expression.

The known critic of Duterte also strongly believes that the salesman is telling the truth, so his comments should not be considered as libelous.

“That is clearly illegal and against the constitutional guarantee of freedom of speech and of expression. Besides, telling the truth is never libelous,” Trillanes said who also called President Duterte crazy before.

“I call on the PNP to exercise due restraint and sound judgment in the performance of their duty, especially in these trying times,” he added.

Trillanes even posted a short tweet addressed to the President.

Yesterday, Human Rights Lawyer Chel Diokno also called out the authorities for what they did to Orcullo, saying that law enforcers’ job is to protect the people and not Duterte.

A consultant for the office of Senator Leila De Lima couldn’t hide his anger towards the members of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and Presidential Security Group (PSG) for hunting down his niece who allegedly asked Muslim extremist group Abu Sayaff to end President Rodrigo Duterte’s life.

In a lengthy Facebook post, Atty. Josef Leroi Garcia narrated how the members of the PSG allegedly trying to trace her niece Carmela Buan Laxina for her post against President Duterte.

Laxina’s Facebook comment was featured by several Facebook pages on social media.

“P*tayin na yan taksil sa Pilipinas. Pls Abu Sayap, pakitulungan po para map*tay na itong buwang na Pres. para maibsan na ang salot sa Pilipinas,” allegedly Laxina said.

According to Atty. Garcia, the PSG, or the NBI have no power over his niece saying that Laxina is already an Australian citizen.

He claimed that the Philippine Embassy in Australia is already attempting to summon Laxina to appear before the Philippine authorities.

“My niece told them to go visit her at her house instead, but in the presence of the federal police of her country,” Garcia said.

“But they are BARKING UP the wrong tree (yes, dear DDS friends, that is how you use the idiom correctly) because my niece is already a foreign national and fully protected by her government. If PSG has any quarrel with my niece, please proceed to the appropriate embassy of her nationality in Manila and see if you can ask them nicely to surrender their citizen to your jurisdiction. Good luck hunting,” he added.

Garcia also warned the followers of President Duterte that the people of Macabebe is still capable of standing up against powerful people Duterte like what they did to former President Emilio Aguinaldo.

In his latest update, Garcia claimed that the NBI asked his niece to apologize, but she refused to do it.

He also stated that the Australian police defended Laxina and asked the NBI agent to stop pressuring the lady.

“Malacañang is creating an international incident on the FB post of an Oz citizen over whom it has no jurisdiction. That is what Malacañang is busy about while the country reels from two months of ECQ without any plan on how to end the pandemic,” he said.

This week, law enforcers launched different operations to track down several individuals who allegedly endangering President Duterte’s safety.

A teacher from Zambales was brought to NBI Central Office for allegedly putting a bounty on Duterte’s head.

A salesman in Mindanao was also put under the custody of the authorities after calling President Duterte a crazy man.

Several groups, and also Human Rights Lawyer Chel Diokno criticized the move of the government, saying that they should not protect the President from individuals criticizing him.

Actress Kim Chiu has had enough with her critics on social media and she decided to answer them one by one.

Chiu captured the attention of the internet because of her confusing ‘law of classroom’ remarks and despite apologizing to the netizens because of her statements, some critics still didn’t stop posting messages against her.

Her critics did not spare her Youtube channel; this is when the actress decided not to hold back.

One netizen who commented to Chiu’s work out video said that the actress should start to exercise her brain instead of her body.

“Dapat mo siguro i work out ang utak mo,” Youtube user Floral Artist told Chiu.

The actress couldn’t understand why the said netizen criticized her.

Human Rights lawyer Chel Diokno criticized the Philippine National Police (PNP) for detaining a salesman who called President Rodrigo Duterte ‘buang’ or crazy on social media.

In a series of tweets, Diokno said that PNP should not focus on hunting down the critics of Duterte because it’s not their job to protect the President from the opinion of the public.

Diokno pointed out that even Duterte cursed the pope, public officials, and other people.

According to them, the authorities don’t have the right to put individuals under their custody because of posting libelous statements against the President.

Diokno said that only ‘judges’ should decide whether an individual should be detained for libel or not.

Followers of Diokno thanked the lawyer for criticizing the move of the law enforcers, saying that they’re afraid of what’s happening to the critics of the President.

On Wednesday, salesman Reynaldo Orcullo, 41, a resident of Brgy Triangulo, Nasipit town, Agusan del Norte was caught by the members of the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit (RACU) 13.

The salesman allegedly called President Duterte ‘crazy’ and also mentioned Senator Christopher “Bong” Go.

Before Orcullo, several individuals including a teacher from Zambales were also put by the authorities under their custody because of their post against President Duterte.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque already said that the people caught have the chance to prove that they’re innocent.

“Kung merong prima facie case for any case, kasuhan siya at mabibigyan naman po siya ng pagkakataon na patunayang hindi siya nagkasala sa ating hukuman sa takdang panahon,” Roque said.

A salesman in Mindanao city is now facing charges because of allegedly posting libelous statements against President Rodrigo Duterte.

The salesman was identified as Reynaldo C. Orcullo, 41, a resident of Brgy Triangulo, Nasipit town, Agusan del Norte.

Orcullo was caught during the joint operation held last Wednesday by the members of Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit (RACU) 13 and Nasipit Municipal Police Station.

The salesman allegedly cursed and made fun of President Duterte on social media, calling the latter ‘buang’ and other degradative words.

Orcullo is facing charges for violation of Section 4 of RA No. 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

They also recovered the smartphone used by Orcullo to comment against President Duterte.

PNP Caraga director Brigadier General Joselito T. Esquivel, Jr urged the netizens to be more careful of what they’re posting on social media because freedom of expression also has limits.

“Again I remind our social media users to think thrice before posting on any social media platform. Be responsible netizens. We do enjoy the blessings of democracy but never go beyond what you think is right without minding you violate the provisions of the law,” the Caraga top police official stressed out.

On Monday, a teacher in Zambales was brought to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) central office in Manila after putting a bounty on Duterte’s head.

The next day, a construction worker who boasted to double President Duterte’s bounty was traced by the members of CIDG in Aklan.

A lady from Cebu was also invited to the police station by the authorities for allegedly saying that they’re ready to be poor just to save money for Duterte’s bounty.

The Presidential Security Group (PSG) also warned the netizens from doing the same thing, not only to Duterte but also to other people.

“Lahat ay maaring managot kung sila ay magbabanta sa kanilang kapwa, paano pa kaya kung yung pinagbabantaan nila ay pangulo ng republika,” PSG commander Colonel Jesus Durante III said.

Students of the man who allegedly offered P50-M pesos in exchange for President Rodrigo Duterte’s head expressed their support to the teacher amid the legal battle he’s facing.

In a Facebook post, Dianne, one of the students of Ronnel Mas, who’s currently under the custody of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) slammed the critics of the teacher saying that the latter is a good man.

“The laughter that we shared, the lessons that he thought us, the smile he drawn on our faces. That’s enough for me to tell y’all that Sir Ronel is a good man in his own ways. Imagine making us happy by just passing at the window and making gestures he usually does. And people may judge him easily because they don’t see him the way I do. Sabi nga nila, “Ang mga aso tahol ng tahol pag di nila kilala yung tao”. And I hate society for that,” Dianne said.

Dianne also posted a photo of Mas, while giving gifts to some children.

On Monday, Mas was caught by the members of NBI for posting a tweet: “I will give 50-M reward kung sino ang makakap*tay kay Duterte #NoToABSCBNShutDown,”

The next day the teacher was presented to the media while being handcuffed.

A former student of Mas also couldn’t hide his anger towards the people who criticized their teacher.

According to him, they should not act like they’re perfect and never committed mistakes like their teacher.

“Daming galit na galit dahil lang sa post ni sir, maka kahol akala mo mga gutom na aso, pero hindi nila alam, may pagkakamali rin sila. Hindi man malaki pero nakakasira rin ng pagkatao. Sana yung ibang nagmamalinis ay ilugar nila. Sir ronnel is a good man that i know. Hindi yung nakilala lang nila sa maiksing sinabi nito ay kabastos-bastos na. Sana iniisip nila muna bago sila magsalita. Yeah, may pinag aralan sila pero kung umakto sila para ALAM NYO NA. Sabi nga nila, ang taong matalino ay nananahimik pero ang taong walang alam, mag iingay yan nang mag iingay kahit mali na ang sinasabi,” the former student of Mas said.

“Sir Ronnel. You are the best teacher. Isa ka sa lahat ng teacher na da best sakin kahit hindi nyo ako naturuan noong grade nine. Pero nakasama kita sa BSP ng dalawang taon,” he added.

Other groups including Alliance of Concerned Teachers also expressed their support to Mas and demanded the government to free the educator and drop the charges against him.

Aside from the teacher, a construction worker from Aklan and a lady from Cebu was also caught by the authorities for posting a bounty on Duterte’s head.

Malacanang said that they’re going to let NBI do their job and would not interfere with the investigation.

Members of CIDG Central Visayas caught a woman for allegedly offering P75-M bounty on President Rodrigo Duterte’s head.

The suspect was identified as Maria Catherine Bentolan Ceron, 26, a resident of Sitio Tumoy, Barangay Ibabao, Cordova, Cebu.

Joint elements of CIDG Mandaue, CIDG Lapu Lapu, and Regional Intelligence Unit of Region 7 in coordination with Cordova PNP Regional and Anti-Cybercrime Unit Central Luzon conducted an operation against Ceron whom successfully traced around 9:30 AM on Wednesday.

Ceron was brought to the CIDG Mandaue office for proper disposition and documentation in preparation for the filing of the case: inciting to Sedition.

A Facebook page named “Tsismis” shared the alleged post of Ceron using Facebook name Ma Enirethac Norec against President Rodrigo Duterte.

Ceron on her post cursed Duterte a lot and even said that she’s ready to lose all her worldly possession just to gather money for the bounty on the President’s head.

“Kahit maubos ang pera namin, map*tay ka lang namin pisti ka, ngayon kung sino ang makakabasa nito kung sino ang makakap*tay kay Presidente Duterte, bibigyan namin ng pabuya,” she said in Cebuano.

“Magbibigay po ang groupo ng 75 milyon kung sino ang makakagawa nito, pm lang po o kaya punta po kayo sa bahay tumoy Ibabao Cordova Cebu, Hanapin po ninyo ako,” she also said in another post.

The camp of Ceron is not yet releasing their side on the issue.

Ceron is the third individual caught by the law enforcers because of posting bounty against President Duterte.

On Monday, teacher Ronnel Mas was brought to NBI Central Office in Manila for posting a P50-M bounty in exchange for Duterte’s life.

On Tuesday, a construction worker was also put under custody by the cops because of boasting that he would double the bounty offered by Mas.

People who committed inciting to sedition might get detained for a maximum of six years.

Groups already criticized the move of the law enforcers against the people posting a bounty on President Duterte’s head.

A progressive group urged the government to free and drop all charges against the teacher who offered a P50-M to anyone who can end President Rodrigo Duterte’s life.

On a statement, Raymond Basilio, the secretary-general of the progressive group Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) denounced the action of law enforcers against Ronnel Mas, the 25-year old educator living in Zambales.

According to Basilio, a teacher like Mas doesn’t have the capacity to provide P50-M so they should just downplay the tweet of the latter.

“Teachers’ dire economic state is no secret to the people, especially to the government. 25-year old Teacher Ronnel obviously does not have 50 million to pay as bounty hence his post clearly does not pose any serious threat to the President. Why then did the NBI spend valuable time and resources to apprehend this teacher?” raised ACT Secretary-General Raymond Basilio.

Basilio pointed out that Mas became one of the ‘outstanding secondary teachers’ in Zambales.

ACT also criticized the government for using the law as a weapon against its critics like Mas.

“We call on fellow defenders of democracy to resist all attempts to trample on our rights and freedoms. Free Teacher Ronnel!” he said.

Bayan Muna Rep. Ferdie Gaite expressed support to Mas, calling the tweet of the teacher as hyperbole that should be disregarded by the authorities.

“What happened to Teacher Ronnel was selective persecution targeting dissenters. NBI knows that his tweet was just hyperbole, and a teacher who lives on a meager salary couldn’t possibly reward anyone 50M. The authoritarian regime just wants to send a chilling warning to critics,” Gaite said.

LGBT Group Bahaghari published a Facebook post to demand the ‘immediate release’ of Mas.

“Teacher Ronnel is another case of selective persecution against persons critical of Duterte’s botched crisis response. It is meant to send a chilling message to government critics and aimed at silencing dissent,” the group statement read.

“We must resist this weaponization of the law against Duterte’s critics. Stand against tyranny! Release Teacher Ronnel!” they added.

A few days ago, Ronnel Mas posted the controversial tweet saying that: “I will give 50-M reward kung sino ang makakap*tay kay Duterte #NoToABSCBNShutDown,”

The tweet of Mas has gone viral on the internet and concerned netizens asked the authorities to investigate the teacher.

On Monday, members of the NBI Pangasinan traced the location of the teacher who at first denied the allegations against him.

Later on, he admitted his mistakes and apologized to President Duterte.

The next day, Mas was brought to NBI Central Office in Manila where he was presented to the media and made another public apology.

However, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said that apologizing was not enough for Mas to be safe from possible charges.

“I understand that this person has been placed in custody by the NBI and may be brought to an inquest. So I’ll leave it to the investigating prosecutor,” Guevarra said.

“However, an apology is not one of the grounds for extinguishing crminal liability. I cannot feloniously injure another and get away with it by merely saying sorry,” he added.

The teacher is currently facing inciting to sedition charges and violations of code of conduct and ethical standard for public officials.

On the same day, a construction worker and habal-habal driver was caught by the members of CIDG in Aklan for imitating what Mas did on social media, boasting that he would double the bounty on Duterte’s head.

After a teacher was put behind bars for allegedly offering a P50-M in exchange for President Rodrigo Duterte’s life, a construction worker is now facing the same legal trouble because of a Facebook post.

On Tuesday, members of the CIDG Aklan traced the location of Ronald Quiboyen, 40, a construction worker, habal-habal driver and a resident of Sitio Hagdan, Brgy. Yapak, Malay Aklan.

Quiboyen’s Facebook post has gone viral on social media after he boasted that he would double the bounty offered by teacher Ronnel Mas from P50-M to P100-M and even told his location to everyone.

“Yong 50 milyon nyo, doblihin ko gawin kung 100milyon kung sino makap*tay kay Duterte, andito ako ngayon sa Boracay…” Quiboyen said.

A day after his post circulated on social media, CIDG successfully traced Quiboyen and brought to Malay Police Station.

The camp of Quiboyen is not yet releasing a statement if he’s really the one who posted it and not a fake profile.

Some local media in Aklan said that the construction worker might face Inciting to Sedition and Anti-Cybercrime charges.

People who committed inciting to sedition might face detention for six years.

The teacher who started the ‘Duterte bounty’ trend, Mas is also currently facing multiple charges despite his pleas to the President to forgive him.

His career is also in danger as he’s also facing charges for violating the code of conduct and ethical standard of public officials.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) already said that ‘apologizing’ is not enough for anyone to escape liability.
