Carlos Yulo’s father, Mark Andrew Yulo, was proud of his son’s achievements after the country won its second Olympic gold medal.
In an interview with GMA News, Mr. Yulo said that his son deserved to win the medal after he witnessed his three-year preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
“Masaya, kasi matagal na panahon na ni Caloy na nire-ready simula nu’ng 2020 Japan Olympics. Four years niyang tiniis ‘yan, talagang pinagpaguran ng bata,” said Mr. Yulo.
“Deserve niya ‘yan. Dugo at pawis ‘yung pinaghirapan ni Caloy diyan, talagang gustong-gusto niya makuha ‘yan.” he added.
He was also unsurprised that his son would win the gold medal as he knew Caloy’s capability.
Meanwhile, netizens were waiting for the statement of Carlos’ mother, Angelica Yulo, who went viral recently after she openly supported the opponent of her child during the all-vault finals where the Filipino gymnast placed twelve.
Former Kapuso singer Gerald Santos’ manager, Rommel Ramilo, finally spoke after the story of his talent went viral on social media.
It can be recalled that Sandro Muhlach’s charges against two head writers of GMA Network revived the discussion about Gerald’s experience with a musical director, which started when he was still 15.
Gerald reportedly complained to the higher-ups of GMA Network during the incident, but instead of receiving support, the singer said he received few to no projects after his move.
According to Ramilo, the complaint they filed to the higher-ups of GMA Network has still not been resolved.
He also confirmed that the said director already left the network, but they still felt the consequences of their decision to open up a complaint.
“There was no clear/concrete resolution of this case until now,” panimula ni Ramilo. “Naalis yung isa, yes. But while still in the network, Gerald was treated as an outcast for bringing up his case to the top level management,” said Ramilo.
“He was given very few works after that, until wala na talagang work na binibigay. We are trying to forge a compromise with them but he was released instead,” he added.
Ramilo also confirmed that Gerald was still not allowed to appear on the entertainment programs of GMA Network.
“We had to go through the lonely battles with a giant network,” he stated.
A family friend of Yulo’s family wrote an open letter to now-Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo amid his rift with his mother and siblings.
In his article, Brian Yalung of Sports Bytes Philippines urged Carlo to remember how his mother and siblings supported him to become one of the top athletes in the country.
Yalung also hinted that the problem between the Olympic gold medalist and his family started when the Yulo family started to interfere with his finances.
“In all, I understand it is all about money. Caloy, I had my issues with my parents about relationships and money. However, I never had the guts to accuse my father or mother of stealing money from me. Of course, our paths are different. You made your millions from competing. But honestly, how did you get there?” Yalung wrote.
He also reminded Carlos about the days when they were still living in the squatter’s area, but despite their social status, Mrs. Yulo still supported his dreams.
He also said that Carlos’ family used the money of the athlete to buy properties and deposited them in a bank.
However, the journalist also hinted that the said properties were not named under Carlo.
“As sons, we still have an obligation to our families, especially our parents. They make sure that our needs are met and our futures secure. If the money that was allegedly stolen from you is invested in a house or kept securely in a bank, there is a reason,” he said.
“It is your fallback in the event your career suddenly goes downhill. If not, it is assurance that in the future, you and your own family will have a worry-free life. Even if the property’s name is not under you, who will eventually inherit it? Will it not be you?” he added.
It can be recalled that Carlos won the second medal in the country and is now set to receive millions of pesos in rewards after achieving one of the rarest achievements that a Filipino could achieve.
Carlos Yulo’s mother, Angelica Poquiz Yulo, was receiving flak after she openly supported Japan and took several swipes against her own child on social media.
On her social media page, Mrs. Yulo could be seen cheering for Japan after she shared a post showing her son only placing twelve during the ALL-AROUND finals during the 2024 Paris Olympics.
“Japan pa din talaga.. lakas!” said Mrs. Yulo.
Her post was criticized after Carlos won a gold medal for floor exercises, and some netizens even asked why a mother would do such a thing against her child.
FEUD BETWEEN CARLOS AND HIS FAMILY
According to some reports, the feud started when Carlos allegedly accused his family of pocketing his money.
An open letter written by Sports Bytes Philippines hinted at the issue of the Olympic Gold Medalist.
“As sons, we still have an obligation to our families, especially our parents. They make sure that our needs are met and our futures secure. If the money that was allegedly stolen from you is invested in a house or kept securely in a bank, there is a reason,” said Brian Yalung of Sports Bytes PH.
The rift between the family was also intensified by the negative posts made by Carlos’ mother and siblings against him.
It could be noticed that Yulo’s sister also cheered Japan during the All-Around finals instead of supporting her own brother.
Carlos’ fans urged the Olympic Gold Medalist not to reconnect with his family, especially now that he can already live on his own after receiving millions of pesos in rewards.
Philippines’ first Olympic gold medalist, Hidilyn Diaz, celebrated the victory of Carlos Yulo during the floor exercise finals at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Hidilyn made a short message in her social media post to celebrate Carlos’ victory.
“Yehey! May Olympic Gold tayo from @c_edrilzxs (Carlos Yulo),” Hidilyn wrote.
Hidilyn, a weightlifter, won the country’s first gold medal after nearly a century, while Yulo started the country’s gold medal streak.
She didn’t qualify for this year’s Olympics and already announced her retirement from her sport.
Yulo won the competition after scoring 15.000 points versus Israel’s 14.966 points.
Netizens were still waiting for the other Filipino Olympic participants to give the country medals.
Netizens couldn’t hide their disappointment after the Israeli gymnast team allegedly tried to steal the moments of Carlos Yulo, who was celebrating his gold medal finish at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
In the video published by One Sports, Yulo is celebrating his victory when team Israel, which finished second during the floor exercise finals, approaches him.
The following moments showed one of the Israeli team members carrying a flag and positioning himself where the camera was panned.
Some netizens also noticed the said Israeli team member and called him disrespectful.
“Medyo bastos lang ung nagwagayway ng flag, Israel ba yun? bitter,” netizen Lilybeth said.
“Grabe na mga taga Israel, always making a scene whenever there’s a chance,” netizen Chan commented.
“Hilig manguha talaga ng Israel nyeta. Moment ni Carlos Yulo yun eh,” netizen JJ remarked.
However, others also said that the Israeli team only wanted to congratulate Yulo, placed the flag beside the Filipino athlete for photo purposes, and didn’t mean to disrespect the gold medalist.
It can be recalled that Yulo gave the second Olympic gold medal in the history of Philippine sports.
Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo proved that he could also get a gold medal for his country at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
On August 3, 2024, Yulo won the country’s second gold medal after winning the gymnastic floor exercise finals, scoring 15,000 points.
Yulo couldn’t help but become emotional after giving honor to the country after years of hard work and dreaming of becoming a top athlete in his sports.
CINEMA!! 🔥🔥🔥
Carlos Yulo delivered a great performance in the men’s gymnastics floor exercise finals, scoring a total of 15.000 points.
As a gold medalist, Yulo would receive millions of pesos in rewards from the government and private entities.
According to Republic Act 10699, Olympic gold medalists like Yulo would receive P10,000,000 from the government and an Olympic Gold Medal of Valor from the Philippine Sports Commission.
Megaworld would also give Yulo a condominium unit in Bonifacio Global City worth P24,000,000 pesos.
The mentioned rewards didn’t include the possible sponsorships and other rewards Yulo may receive from private individuals and companies.
A hero’s welcome was also waiting for Yulo once he arrived in the country and a courtesy call from the palace.
Mich Liggayu, one of the country’s first social media influencers, revealed that she was already a single mom.
Mich was part of Jamich, a popular vlog she shared with her ex-boyfriend, Jam Sebastian.
In her post, Mich, who had two children with Neo Domingo, shared her life as a single mother, saying that she sometimes felt frustrated as she was soloing all the priorities she was supposed to share with her ex-partner.
“Being a single parent comes with its own set of challenges-like yung dapat hot coffee, naging parang iced coffee na sa lamig before I get a chance to enjoy it. Not finishing my meal because I lose my appetite while juggling feeding the kids. Gusto ko pa naman pag kakain ako yung mainit pa talaga. And yung minsan gusto mo ng break pero di mo magawa kasi wala kang choice, ikaw lang andiyan eh,” she wrote.
“Kaya minsan parang gusto mo magalit sa taong dapat kahati mo sa lahat ng mga responsibilidad na mga ginagawa mo. Pero di mo magawa kasi syempre kailangan pa rin siya kilalanin ng mga bata,” she added.
It can be recalled that Neo and Mich’s relationship started roughly after Jam’s mother, Maricar’s revelation against them.
Maricar claimed that Neo and Mich were dating already when Jam was still fighting for his life.
Neo and Mich denied the accusations but eventually admitted their relationship later on.
Alden Richards was receiving criticism on social media from some Ancestral Homes enthusiasts after it was reported that a heritage home was reportedly set to be demolished to give way for his McDonald’s branch.
According to the reports, the restaurant would be built in the heritage house owned by the Zavalla-Rivera family in Sta. Rosa City was located.
Some historians, like Kristoffer Pasion, said it would be against the law if Alden demolished the house without asking for a permit from the National Historical Commission.
Other netizens who were fans of old houses said they would also boycott Alden’s restaurant if the demolition ever happens.
As of writing, McDonald’s Philippines and Alden have yet to give a statement on whether they would demolish the house or repurpose it to preserve its structures.
The former live-in-partner of billionaire Tony Boy Floirendo Jr. released a series of accusations against the first family during an interview with blogger Maharlika.
During the interview, Cathy Binag narrated about the circle of her former partner, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., who was partying and using ‘pulvoron.’
According to Binag, there was a time when First Lady Liza Marcos allegedly offered her to try what they were snorting.
Binag believed that the first lady assumed she was also a user due to her weight.
“Oo siya talaga. Siya lang ‘yung nag-offer sa’kin maybe because like she doesn’t know me. So, and like somebody brought me there, and it was my ex,” she said.
“And she knows that she’s doing it, may be she assumed that I do it also. And payat ako ‘di ba? pero hindi ako mukhang durugista,” she added.
She also claimed that she had already given some USB drives containing several confidential documents to prove her accusations even if something bad happened to her.
Binag said that she wanted to stop the circle of her ex-partner from using ‘pulvoron’ as she already witnessed its effect on an individual using it.
As of the time of writing, Malacanang has yet to respond to Binag’s testimony.
