Filipino gymnast Karl Eldrew Yulo said he planned to help his family once he became successful in gymnastics.

In an interview with Julius Babao, Karl Eldrew said he wanted his parents, Mark Andrew and Angelica Yulo, to retire.

“Ano bang gusto mong gawin kung sakaling maging successful ka na?” Julius asked.

“Gusto ko pong tuparin lahat ng pangarap ng family ko. Patanda na kasi ng patanda ang dad ko and still nagtatrabaho pa rin siya, siguro gusto ko na siyang mag-retire and maging masaya nalang kami lahat,” Karl Eldrew responded.

“Gusto ko na lang maging happy kaming lahat, mag-bonding kami [at] pumunta kami ng iba’t ibang bansa, I’ll treat them para maranasan nila,” he added.

Aside from helping his parents, Karl also wanted to invest in real estate to secure not only his future but his family.

“Gusto kong bilhan ng lupa ang daddy ko kasi gusto niya maging farmer, ewan ko kung bakit, ‘yun ang lagi niyang sinasabi sakin na once na magkaroon daw ako ng pera [ay] i-save mo at mag-invest sa lupa kasi ‘yung lupa hindi talaga naluluma,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Karl’s brother, two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo, was busy taking care of his girlfriend, Chloe San Jose. They even traveled to different countries after he received more than P115-M from different companies and personalities after his successful Olympic run.

Former House Speaker and current Davao del Norte Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez opened the idea of letting former President Rodrigo Duterte run in the 2028 presidential elections as an attempt to return to Malacanang.

In a statement, Alvarez believed that the constitution only prohibited an incumbent president from running for reelection.

According to him, the legality of Duterte’s attempt to run again should be decided by the court, but in the end, the people’s voice must prevail if they want the former chief executive to become their leader again.

“Hindi yan dapat mag-apply sa dating Pangulo na hindi na incumbent. Puwede na siya tumakbo ulit. Nakita niyo naman, 13 hours nila ginisa si dating Pangulong Duterte, malakas pa rin, at yung puso niya nasa tamang lugar. Totoong para sa bayan,” said Alvarez.

“Kahit nga mga Senators natin, kapag hindi consecutive yung terms, pinapayagan na tumakbo ulit. Hinahayaan na ang taong bayan ang mag-decide kung gusto nila ibalik yung senador. Sa Amerika rin, tingnan ninyo, hinalal ulit ng tao si President Trump. Kung naniniwala talaga tayo sa demokrasya, let the people decide,” he added.

Alvarez believed that Duterte would win if he decided to run again.

“Hindi kailangan maging henyo para maintindihan yung nangyayari. Mas malaki pa boto ni VP Sara kay BBM. Dagdag pa natin, mataas ang frustrations ng taong-bayan sa administrasyon pagdating sa mga pangakong hindi nagkatotoo,” he stated.

Aside from encouraging Duterte to run again, Alvarez also criticized the QuadComm hearings and called it a waste of time and resources.

Archie Alemania’s wife, Gee Canlas, posted a cryptic message on her Instagram amid the case filed by Kapuso actress Rita Daniela against her co-star.

In the quote card she shared, Gee believed it would be unnecessary to defend the truth as it would come up automatically.

“The truth doesn’t need defending; it speaks for itself,” said Gee.

“All will be answered in due time,” she added.

Archie’s fans also expressed their support for the actor and even criticized Rita.

The actress was currently undergoing therapy to help herself get back to normal.

Mercy Sunot, one of the main vocalists of the legendary OPM band Aegis, passed away on November 18, 2024, her relatives confirmed.

Her passing happened a day after she asked for prayers from her fans following her lung surgery.

“I’m so broken to hear about your passing. My dearest sister Mercy Sunot, i will forever miss your beautiful soul. Beyond shocked and speechless but No more pain 😪😪😪

In a video she published on her social media page, she gave an update on her condition, saying that she couldn’t breathe properly because of lung inflammation.

“Tapos na ‘yung surgery ko sa lungs. Pero biglang nahirapan akong huminga. So dinala ako sa ICU. Tapos ngayon, may inflammation ‘yung lungs ko so ginagawan na nila ng paraan… Steroids ang pinainom sa akin ng doctor para sa inflammation,” she said.

“‘Pag-pray niyo ko na matatapos ‘tong pagsubok na ‘to. ‘Pag-pray niyo ako.” she added.

In another post, Mercy hinted that she had lung and breast cancer.

Mercy became one of the foundations of Aegis and was remembered for her powerful rock voice.

Together with her bandmates, they popularized timeless OPM songs like Halik, Luha, and Sayang na Sayang.

They also became popular with their Christmas Jingles, such as the Christmas Bonus.

The band was still active and performing, but the absence of Mercy during their gigs may affect their performances.

Television host Boy Abunda made a huge revelation about Ogie Alcasid’s wealth.

During the Fast Talk with Boy Abunda aired on November 12, 2024, Boy asked Ogie about their banking business in Batangas.

According to Ogie, his family formerly owned the Rural Bank of Taal and his father also founded the Batangas Savings Bank.

An article in 2014 labeled Ogie as the most famous stockholder of the Rural Bank of Taal.

Ogie’s brother, Tony Alcasid, was the president of the said bank, according to an article published in 2018.

After the failure of the Philippines to reach the top 12 of Miss Universe 2024, many netizens plead with businessman Chavit Singson to buy the organization.

Thai businesswoman Anne Jakkaphong Jakrajutatip bought Miss Universe for $20-M (P1.1-B) in 2022, raising doubts about the pageant’s integrity.

Netizens on different social media platforms urged Singson to buy the pageant’s franchise, a sign that many Filipinos trust the businessman to handle the organization better than Jakrajutatip.

Singson reacted to some of the posts and even hinted that he might consider the netizens’ suggestion.

“Bibilhin ko ang buong Miss Universe organization kung si Senyora yung representative natin next year,” said Chavit.

Meanwhile, Singson also cited how Philippine tourism was helped by hosting the country’s Miss Universe in 2016.

Singson sponsored the hosting of Miss Universe in the Philippines, spending $15 million  (P880-M).

Former President of the Miss Universe Organization Paula Shugart said that the Philippines earned more than $500 million worth of media mileage during its hosting.

It was small compared to the $20-M price paid by the Thai Businesswoman to own the pageant.

It’s not yet known if Singson would attempt to buy the organization.

A lawyer criticized the decision of Miss Universe Philippines to let Chelsea Manalo represent the country on the Miss Universe 2024.

It can be recalled that Chelsea missed the top 12 of the Miss Universe 2024 during its coronation night in Mexico on November 17.

Despite not winning the grand title, Chelsea was declared as ‘Miss Asia’ and would be tasked to represent the Miss Universe organization in different engagements that would be held in the largest continent.

However, lawyer Wilfredo Garrido was not satisfied with PH’s performance in this year’s Miss Universe pageant, saying that we chose a candidate with too much dark skin.

“Sabi ko na nga ba. We tend to overdo our Miss Universe efforts. Naghanap tayo ng morena, somobra naman pagka itim. Sa gown, tattoo ni Whang Od ginaya. Yung isa ginawa pa eroplano. Tama na exotic. Just follow conventional good taste,” she said.

Atty. Garrido even said that Miss Universe PH should have been chosen Miss Laguna Alexandra Mae Rosales.

Some of Atty. Garrido’s friends agreed with what the lawyer said.

“Chelsea is beautiful. She radiates kindness. Judges cannot see each candidate’s inner beauty and values unless they sit down and get to know them better. so they are judged more so by their outward appearance. sad to say, most judges tend to have the appetite for caucasians and hispanics. whatever happened to beautiful with a heart?” netizen Anna said.

Ai-Ai delas Alas ended her silence after Chloe San Jose’s reaction to her breakup with Gerald Sibayan.

In a Facebook post, Ai-Ai commented on a post made by Director Darryl Yap.

The director asked Chloe why she was so upset with Ai-Ai labeling her the ‘girlfriend’ of two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo.

“Ano kayang kinaoffend ni Goldie sa sinabi ni Mama Ai na “Girlfriend ka pa lang” Ano ba gusto niya? TREASURER?” said

Ai-Ai then responded to Darryl, saying that Chloe cannot handle him and her daughter, Sophia delas Alas.

It can be recalled that Sophia confronted Chloe on her social media page and even challenged the latter for a meet-up.

“Matapang ka? Public mo naman post mo regarding my mom. Kita tayo sa Manila? Matapang ka eh,” she stated.

However, instead of directly accepting the challenge, Chloe became defensive, saying that her post against Ai-Ai was not meant to be seen by the public.

Fashion icon and actress Heart Evangelista couldn’t help but feel emotional as she recalled her experience with her ‘most loyal soldiers.’

During the episode of Heart World, the actress admitted that she couldn’t forgive herself, hinting that she allowed herself to be betrayed by her trusted people.

“She had no idea what was coming for her. I really felt like maybe to a point na minsan hanggang ngayon, ‘di ko pa rin ma-forgive ‘yung sarili ko kasi at the end of the day, kahit sila ‘yung mga kasama ko no’n, ako pa rin ang gumawa,” she said.

It can be recalled that Heart had a feud with her former glam team, who had just transferred to Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach.

Heart’s fans accused the former glam team of giving all the actress’ fashion houses’ contacts to Pia so their new boss could attend fashion shows also.

However, Justin Soriano, one of Heart’s former glams, denied the allegations.

“Pia never ever stole any contacts or whatever. Lalo na kami. We are only glam team and hindi nga namin kilala or close mga PR. Also PIA is PIA! She has walked the runway in new york when she was miss universe,” said Justin. “She already attended a lot of fashion shows in new york way back 2015! So that cheating thing is actually invented so people can draw hate towards pia,”

Director Darryl Yap reacted to the feud between Ai-Ai and Sophia delas Alas vs. Chloe San Jose.

In his post, Darryl couldn’t understand why Chloe was so disappointed when Ai-Ai told her to know her place amid the family issue being faced by her boyfriend, Carlos Yulo.

“Kung wala ‘yung nanay niya, wala kang darling ngayon,” said Ai-Ai. “At tsaka hindi ka pa asawa gurl, girlfriend ka palang,”

“Kapag asawa ka na, puwede; pero kapag girlfriend huwag mo muna awayin kasi alam no naman ang mga mommy ‘di ba, isa ‘yan sa mga way na maging harmonious ang inyong relationship,” she added.

Darryl then asked Chloe if she prefered to be addressed as Carlos’ treasurer instead of a girlfriend.

“Sali nyo naman ako sa away nyo. Matapang din naman ako eh. Ano kayang kinaoffend ni Goldie sa sinabi ni Mama Ai na “Girlfriend ka pa lang” Ano ba gusto niya? TREASURER,” Darryl asked.

The feud between Sophia and Chloe started when the latter posted her reaction to the separation between Ai-Ai and Gerald Sibayan.

Choe’s post privacy was set to friends only, but it quickly spread like a wildfire when a Facebook page acquired a screenshot of the post.

“Back to you mamang, hindi para pagtawanan ang sitwasyon mo pero ang ginagawa mo sa iba ay babalik din sa’yo ng 10x ‍—it’s just the universe’s law,” said Chloe.

The post eventually reached Sophia, who challenged Chloe to a meet-up.

“Kita tayo sa Manila? Matapang ka eh,” Sophia told Chloe.
