Cristy Fermin to the possible new hosts of Eat Bulaga: ‘Maglagay kayo ng nameplate’

Cristy Fermin gave a piece of advice to the possible new hosts of Eat Bulaga after its original hosts left the show.

In her online show ‘Showbiz Now Na!’ Cristy talked about the rumors that Television and Production Exponents (TAPE) Inc. would tap talents from Sparkle Artist Agency to replace the original hosts of the longest-running noontime show.

However, Fermin said that the new hosts should wear ‘nameplate’ because it’s possible that no fan of Eat Bulaga would recognize them.

She also downplayed the move of the Jalosjos family, saying that putting unrecognizable artist to replace the original Dabarkads would not solve their problem.

“Ang mga isasalang daw po, ayon sa mga kwento, ay mga artista ng sparkle ng GMA. ‘Yun daw kabataang artista ng Sparkle.” Cristy said.

“Ano ang sinasabi ng mga kababayan? ‘Yun ba ang sinasabi na higit pa sa isang libo’t isang tuwa ang ibibigay nila? E ni hindi nga namin alam kung sino ang isasalang nila.

“Kaya nga ang sabi nila, pupwede kaya kung sasalang ang mga artista ng sparkle, maglagay sila ng nameplate. Kasi nga po, hindi pa po pamilyar ang ating mga kababayan sa mga artista, sa ibang artista ng Sparkle. Natural lang po na hanapan pa nila ng indibidwalidad ang mga artistang ito.” she added.

John Regala’s niece narrated the last moments of the action star before he passed away on June 3, 2023, due to liver and kidney problems.

The 55-year-old action star has been staying at the New Era Hospital for three weeks and John’s relatives already accepted the worsening condition of the actor.

However, Nene Lour Billones Bendijo said that even in his last moments, John proved that he was an action star and fought for his life until the end.

According to Nene, John has been successfully revived but it only lasted for minutes.

“Actually po, kahapon, June 2, bumigay na siya tapos ilang minutes, bumalik o nabuhay siya uli. Sabi ng doktor, ‘Wala na talaga kaya hindi magtatagal, mawawala rin si Tito niyo,'” she narrated.

“Nakakaawa na rin po si Tito. Parang nahihirapan na rin siya. Pabalik-balik po siya sa ospital saka matagal na siyang hindi nakakapagsalita. Kapag kinakausap siya, patangu-tango na lang si Tito.” she added.

It can be recalled that John went viral on social media several times because of his plead for financial aid after losing all the income he saved from his prosperous career in showbiz.

Several celebrities helped John and never left him, including Sen. Robin Padilla who also expressed sadness for what happened to the actor.

 

GMA SVP Annette Gozon-Valdes, ready to help the Jalosjos family to find new hosts for Eat Bulaga

GMA Senior Vice President Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes vowed to support Television and Production Exponents Inc. after the resignation of all Eat Bulaga hosts on May 31, 2023.

It can be recalled that Eat Bulaga hosts Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon Paolo Ballesteros, Jose Manalo, Maine Mendoza, Ryzza Mae Dizon, Wally Bayola, Ryan Agoncillo, and Allan K already parted ways with the production company owned by Romeo Jalosjos.

Gozon-Valdes said that they’re offering the talents of GMA to replace the original hosts of the longest-running noontime show to keep it on air.

“Kung wala namang conflict and pumapayag yung talents why not ‘di ba? It’s really a separate business kung mabibigyan naman ng trabaho yung talents namin why not and we’ve been doing this even before magka falling out years and years back,” the executive said.

“Tulad ni Alden (Richards) galing siya sa Sparkle. Tulad ni Bianca (Manalo) and Ruru(Madrid) talagang we provide talents,” she added.

While Alden was part of Sparkle, netizens were waiting if he would agree to join the rebranded version of Eat Bulaga as he already declared his loyalty to TVJ.

Netizens were also calling to boycott the said show as a support to the legendary trio and other original hosts.

A lawyer said that even without Paolo Contis’ permission, his daughter Xalene and Xonia have the right to remove ‘Contis’ in their name.

It can be recalled that former EB Babe member Lian Paz revealed that her daughters to Paolo were already asking her if it’s allowed for them to remove the surname of their father because of its absence in their life.

“Asking na nga po ang mga bata to have it changed,” Lian said.

While it sounds complicated, especially Paolo would obviously oppose the plan of his daughters, Atty. Anselmo S. Rodiel IV believed that even without the actor’s permission, Xalene and Xonia could decide on their own whether they wanted to use Contis’ surname or not.

Atty. Rodiel cited Article 364 of the Civil Code saying that using the surname of their father is only principal and not exclusive.

“The child has a CHOICE to NOT use the surname of Mr. Contis‼️ Article 364 of the Civil Code says “legitimate children shall PRINCIPALLY use the surname of the father.” PRINCIPALLY does not mean EXCLUSIVELY, so may choice ang bata!” Atty. Rodiel wrote.

However, some netizens who saw the lawyer’s post said that Xalene and Xonia still need a court decision to remove the surname of their father.

“Please expound further that there are limitations and only a FEW GROUNDS when a child/person can change his/her surname. In other words, hindi basta basta at dahil “gusto lang”. The change of surname needs judicial authority, thus, to be filed in court.” netizen FJ said.

Paolo has yet to respond to the possible move of his former partner.

Vice Ganda and Ion Perez made a controversial gesture during their concert at the Araneta Coliseum on June 2, 2023.

In the video uploaded by a fan, it can be seen Vice and Ion show their love to each other while showing their ‘dirty finger’ to the concertgoers.

Vice clarified that they made the said gesture for the people criticizing their relationship.

“Let’s not f***ing care…What you are, what I am and what we have is just so amazingly beautiful. So let’s not be bothered by their noise. Let them drown in their own voice. Let’s just continue to love so loud and proud,” Vice said.

“Whatever happens, wherever it takes, at the end of the day, love wins,” he added.

Fans couldn’t hide their ‘kilig’ over the scene made by the two.

However, some social media users criticized Ion and Vice.

“Wala na talagang moral ang mga tao ngayon…..hindi dapat ginagawa ang ganyan dahil may mga batang nanonood,” netizen Jem said.

Nadia Montenegro, Aster Amoyo, Chuckie Dreyfus nakiramay sa pagpanaw ng aktor na si John Regala

Nadia Montenegro, Chuckie Dreyfus and Aster Amoyo expressed their sadness for the passing of former action star John Regala.

On June 3, 2023, John’s wife Victoria Scherrer confirmed the news, saying that the ‘Bad Boy’ of Philippine Cinema ended his battle with liver and kidney complications.

Nadia and Aster were the first celebrities who reacted to the news as they became part of John’s fundraising when he went viral in 2020.

Aster gave details about John’s interment.

Meanwhile, Nadia dedicated a message to her former colleague.

“Rest In Peace John. Tapos na ang hirap mo tol.” she said.

Chuckie Dreyfus also said that despite his past issues with John, he still prayed for the eternal repose of the actor’s soul.

“Sa kabila ng lahat, nalulungkot po ako sa balitang pagpanaw ni John. He was a talented actor and brought joy to many through his performances. I sincerely hope that he found peace in his final days. My thoughts are with his loved ones at this time,” Chuckie remarked.

It can be recalled that Nadia, Aster and Chuckie took care of John’s donations and finances for several months until they decided to end their help to the actor.

In an interview with Pep.ph, Nadia, Chuckie and Aster accused John of using the money he received for vices.

“I feel so used. I feel so scammed. Ang sakit ng ginawa niya talaga, e. Lahat kami naloko talaga.” Chuckie said.

However, John denied the accusations, saying that he didn’t receive any money from the three.

“I didn’t receive a single cent from what they collected. I have asked it from them but they didn’t give anything to me,” he said.

After years of medical treatment for his condition in liver and kidney, the former action star who’s known for being the ‘Bad Boy’ of the Philippine Cinema passed away on June 3, 2023.

In an interview, Victoria Scherrer, the wife of John already confirmed the sad news to millions of John Regala’s fans worldwide.

According to her, John has been hospitalized at the New Era Hospital for already three weeks without the knowledge of the public.

The cause of his passing was related to his liver and kidney complications.

Meanwhile, several celebrities and colleagues of John, including Senator Robin Padilla who never left the former action star thanked Iglesia ni Cristo for helping the actor.

“Malalim na pasasalamat sa New Era Hospital at sa Iglesia ni Cristo na Hindi bumitaw sa pag aalaga kay Ginoong John Regala.
Hanggang sa mga oras na ito ang kapatiran ng INC ang nag aasikaso sa katawan ng aking pamangkin.” Padilla said.

It can be recalled that John appeared in hundreds of movies, but his life started to be difficult after retiring from showbiz.

In 2017, John went viral on social media after he was spotted unconscious outside a grocery store in Cavite.

John, in a past interview, admitted that he faced financial difficulties because of his vices and also because of his health condition.

In 2020, the actor gained the attention of netizens again after he was spotted wandering around and the changes in his appearance because of his condition became visible.

Several celebrities helped him including Nadia Montenegro, Chuckie Dreyfus and Aster Amoyo, however, they decided to stop helping the former actor, claiming that he wanted to use the money he received from donations for other things.

However, Regala denied the accusations from the three celebrities, saying that he didn’t receive any money from them.

Iya Villania agrees to become a host of noontime show as long it’s not using Eat Bulaga branding

Television host Iya Villania said that she’s considering hosting a noontime variety show on GMA Network as long as it’s not titled ‘Eat Bulaga’.

On May 31, 2023, Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon announced their departure from TAPE Inc and to Kapuso Network because of the conflict between the hosts of the longest-running noontime show and its executives.

Aside from the legendary trio, most people working for Eat Bulaga, including the other hosts, production team, writers, and cameramen also decided to leave the company.

TAPE then announced that they’re still planning to air Eat Bulaga with new hosts.

Iya has been asked if it’s possible for her to become part of the new Eat Bulaga.

However, the host said that she do not want to become part of the rebranding of the said program.

“Oh my gulay. It’s hard to talk speak. Siguro kung iba ‘yung pangalan ng show. I probably… I would consider,” Iya said.

“Siguro kasi I guess it’s kind of sensitive especially because of the title. And the memories that it holds, the people that it holds so ayon, if ever, I might consider if it wasn’t the title,” she added.

It was reported that TAPE Inc. was planning to hire some artists from Sparkle to replace the former hosts of their show.

Controversial actor and father Paolo Contis admitted that he already wanted to see his daughter Summer who’s his child with former partner LJ Reyes.

In an interview with Nelson Canlas, Paolo said that he’s always watching videos of Summer whom he didn’t see since 2021 after LJ left the Philippines to stay in the US.

He’s also hoping that the situation between him and LJ would get better because he really wanted to talk about his visitation rights.

“Mali ‘yung pagkaka-handle and everyday I keep on hoping and praying na it will be better. Na eventually, kapag napatawad ako at mas magaan na ‘yung mga bagay-bagay. I hope we can get to talk and kumbaga come to an agreement na makita ko si Summer, and you know, at least talk to her regularly,” said Paolo.

It can be recalled that Paolo admitted that he’s not sending any child support to Summer and to his children to Lian Paz.

He also revealed that he’s already talking to LJ’s lawyer about his possible visit to his daughter.

“I’m waiting for the right time, I’m waiting for the go signal. I’m trying to contact them through her lawyer,” Paolo said.

LJ went viral this week after announcing her engagement with her non-showbiz boyfriend Philip Evangelista.

 

 

Tito Sotto plans to charge TAPE Inc. while the Jalosjos family is using Eat Bulaga’s name and segments

Former Senate President and Eat Bulaga host Tito Sotto revealed their possible next move after their departure from TAPE Inc.

In an interview with One PH, Sotto insisted that they own the branding of ‘Eat Bulaga’ and they’re planning to bring it to the court.

Sotto also said that TAPE Inc. has no right to use the segments of Eat Bulaga because it was owned by the writers and production who also resigned from the company.

The retired politician also reacted to the statement published by TAPE and noticed that the company even used the terms that the original hosts invented including the ‘Isang libo’t, isang tuwa,”

Meanwhile, Sotto said that they would let TAPE Inc. use Eat Bulaga’s branding while they’re planning their next move.

He explained that TAPE only owns the merchandising rights, but Sotto revealed that they have a stronger position because they possess the entertainment services rights for Eat Bulaga branding.

Sotto planned to just charge TAPE for using their branding once the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) already made its decision.

“Gamitin nalang muna nila habang nag-iisip kung ano ang susunod naming steps at pagkatapos ay bayaran nalang,” Sotto said.

He’s also planning to wait for the decision of IPOPHL before trying to change the name of their new show back to Eat Bulaga.

As of writing, TAPE Inc. has yet to give a response to Sotto’s interview.
