Pamilya Jalosjos, sinabi na sila ang may karapatan sa pangalang ‘Eat Bulaga’: “Kami po ang nag-trademark niyan”

Tila nangangamoy na talaga ang isang matinding demandahan sa pagitan ng mga opisyal ng Television and Production Exponents Inc. (TAPE Inc.) at ng tatlong orihinal na host ng Eat Bulaga na sina Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon.

Matatandaan na matindi ang diskusyon sa kung sino nga ba ang may karapatan na gamitin ang titulo na ‘Eat Bulaga’ ngayong opisyal ng kumalas ang TVJ sa TAPE Inc.

Habang ang alam ng karamihan ay mismong si Joey de Leon ang nag-isip ng pangalang ‘Eat Bulaga’ ay tila hindi ito basta basta isusuko ng pamilya Jalosjos na siyang nagmamay-ari ng TAPE.

Ayon sa isa sa mga miyembro ng pamilya Jalosjos ay sila ang may karapatan na gamitin ang ‘Eat Bulaga’.

“Syempre, kami po ang nag-trademark niyan ‘nung 2011. And we also had another application 1991. So just the fact na walang iba na nag-oppose. None of them, none of the TVJs, No one oppose our filing for the trademark of Eat Bulaga, it just means to say na talagang it’s clear. The name stays with us, the company and with the incorporation. So hindi po talaga pwedeng madala po ‘yung Eat Bulaga” ani Jalosjos.

Sinabi pa ni Jalosjos na hindi na kailangan pang magkaroon ng demandahan dahil sa malinaw naman na sila ang may karapatan sa pangalan ng noontime show.

“Eat Bulaga is really TAPE. In fact ang kontrata ng GMA 7 is with TAPE Eat Bulaga. I don’t think it… we need a lawyer, it takes a lawyer to understand that we have been running for 44 years. Kahit ‘yung mga lolo at lola natin ngayon, alam na Eat Bulaga is really in GMA 7. And we will uphold the contract with them, and them as well. So talagang ‘yung show na ipapakita namin sa channel 7 will always be Eat Bulaga.” aniya.

Sa ngayon ay hindi pa nagsasalita si Joey tungkol sa nasabing isyu.

Ibinahagi din ni Joey sa gitna ng isyu kung paano niya nga ba naisip ang pangalang ‘Eat Bulaga’.

“Something came up sa aking utak in 1979 while having coffee sa kusina ni Tito sa White Plains. I was in the company of a certain Jess Espiritu. Hmmm, JESUS and HOLY SPIRIT? Salamat po,” ani Joey.

“And what do you do in a canteen? Of course, EAT! And that became my appetizer to help me through until I came up with a delicious title – Eat Bulaga!” he added.

Nitong nakaraang buwan ay kinuha na ng TVJ ang serbisyo ng isa sa mga pinakasikat na law firm sa Pilipinas upang asikasuhin ang gusot sa pagitan nila at ng TAPE.

Former Eat Bulaga host Allan K. denied the claims made by Television and Production Exponents Inc. (TAPE Inc.) President Jon Jalosjos said that they were not treated like a family by the Dabarkads.

In an interview, Jalosjos even claimed that they were not allowed to enter the dressing room of the Eat Bulaga talents despite him being the president of TAPE.

“Kahit na ako yung president, kahit na kami yung producer, hindi ako nakakapasok diretso sa loob ng dressing room nila.” Jalosjos said.

However, Allan said that the officials of TAPE can freely enter their dress room so he was wondering why Jalosjos made such claims.

“Paano bang hindi pinapapasok? Hindi ko maintindihan e, they’re free naman to.. pasok, labas, pasok sa dressing room namin. Maybe that instance na naka-lock, siguro yun yung nagpe-pray kami. I dunno. I have no idea kung kailan hindi pinapapasok.” Allan said.

Even Ryan Agoncillo said the same thing, saying that there’s no reason for TAPE officials to not be allowed to enter their dressing room.

As of writing the TAPE President has yet to give any response to the statement made by Allan and Ryan.

It can be recalled that the two hosts also resigned from Eat Bulaga on May 31, 2023, after the issue between them and TAPE Inc. concluded.

 

Jose Manalo, shares that he’s not receiving salary from Eat Bulaga while facing difficulties in life

While being considered one of the best comedians of this generation, Jose Manalo faced difficulties last year after two members of his family passed away.

In 2021, Jose’s mother Anita Manalo passed away, and the same year his brother Arnel also passed on, and in the following year, his wife Anna Lyn followed.

According to veteran columnist Cristy Fermin, during those time Jose was already not receiving his salary from Eat Bulaga on time, so the showbiz reporter couldn’t stop asking the comedian how he handled those problems.

Jose then shared that he only spent those time with his family and tried to forget his problems by praying.

“Nandoon lang kami sa bahay [kasama ang] pamilya, ako kasi  tita Cristy madali akong mag-switch, kahit anong sakit na nararamdaman ko kaya kong tanggalin,” said Jose. “Siguro sa tulong narin ng prayers ko.” 

“Hindi ko pwedeng dibdibin.. dinibdib natin talaga naman, hanggang ngayon dala dala natin yon. Hindi ako sumabay eh, nilibang ko ‘yung sarili ko. Naka-lock in [taping] naman kami,” he added.

Despite his problems with TAPE, Jose refused to speak about the issue.

“Tayo naman kasi ayokong sakin mangagaling ang mga ganyan, sabi ko nga ‘baka tumawag bigla si Nay Cristy, anong sasabihin ko sa kanya’ hindi naman ako pwede magbigay ng [impormasyon] na hindi ako sigurado sa mga bagay bagay,” he stated.

It can be recalled that Tito Sotto revealed their issues with TAPE Inc. the production company behind Eat Bulaga, claiming that its talents were not being paid properly.

Tito cited the case of his brother, Vic Sotto who’s not paid by millions of pesos.

Former Eat Bulaga host Ryzza Mae Dizon speaks for the first time after their resignation from Television and Production Exponents Inc. (TAPE Inc.)

In an interview with Cristy Fermin on June 8, 2023, Ryzza said that she experienced being required to only attend once a week in Eat Bulaga, a sign that she’s already near to getting removed from the show.

His few appearances mean few talent fees for her, but she said that she never complained about the decision of the executives.

However, Ryzza said that she was surprised after being informed about the plans to remove her completely from Eat Bulaga.

She only got informed about it when Tito Sotto revealed it in an interview.

“Doon lang po sa interview ni Tito Sen ko nalaman na ako po ‘yung gustong alisin, at tanggalin tas palitan po,” said Ryzza. “Ang reaction ko po doon, iyak po ako ng iyak kasi hindi ko po in-expect.”

“Buti nalang po talaga pinaglaban at pinagtanggol po ako ng TVJ kaya sobrang laki ng pasasalamat ko sa kanila,” she added.

It can be recalled that Ryzza Mae has been reportedly being planned to be replaced by a host from the hometown of the Jalosjos family.

“They wanted to remove si Ryzza. Gusto palitan ng ibang bata na taga-Dipolog. Kung isang bata lang naman, okay lang, pero ‘wag nilang aalisin si Ryzza,” Sotto said.

“Kasi ‘yung gusto nilang i-promote na bata, pwede ngang matulungan ni Ryzza ‘yun eh, pwedeng maging ka-tandem, mas madaling sumikat,” he added.

Sa pambihirang pagkakataon ay nakita ng publiko ang pagiging emosyonal ng isa sa mga orihinal na host ng Eat Bulaga na si Joey de Leon.

Sa panayam sa kanya ng News5, sinabi ni De Leon na naging emosyonal siya sa ikalawang araw ng pag-alis nila sa Eat Bulaga at TAPE Inc. matapos silang kamustahin ng isa sa kanilang mga major sponsors, ang grocery chain na Puregold.

Ayon kay De Leon ay nahiya siya sa may-ari ng kumpanya na si Susan Co dahil sa nag-advance diumano ito ng malaki para sa sponsorship ng Eat Bulaga, ngunit ngayon ay wala na sila sa nasabing programa.

Ngunit sinabi diumano sa kanila ng negosyante na hindi nila iniisip ang pera na nailagay nila sa Eat Bulaga.

“Kayo okay ba kayo? ako naman bumaliktad (ng tanong) kasi nabalitaan ko parang nag-advance na sila ng malaking… hindi ako marunong sa sales e three years na ata ang in-advance sa show namin. Biglang kinat ako, sabi niya nagalit e,” ani Joey.

“Sabi niya ‘no!’ hindi importante sa’min ‘yun. Bahala kami sa ginagawa namin, ang gusto namin malaman kung okay kayo. Umiyak ako nu’n,” dagdag pa niya.

Inaasahan naman na magiging isa sa mga major sponsors ng bagong show ng mga Dabarkads ang Puregold.

Matatandaan na nag-desisyon ni Joey, kasama na ang ilan pang mga nag-resign na host ng Eat Bulaga na lumipat sa nasabing TV5.

A netizen called out the alleged handpicking of contestants during the first episode of the rebranded version of Eat Bulaga.

In a Facebook post, LeoBrando Manlapaz shared his discovery on social media, saying that one of the contestants who joined one of the segments of the noontime show has been chosen already and not a random contestant.

According to him, one of the contestants, Lelet was connected to one of the hosts Buboy Villar and worked in one of the businesses of the actor.

Manlapaz even alleged that the phone being given away during the show was not really being distributed and just part of the script.

“Contestant nyo kunyari napili or talagang kasama scripted na.. Papremyo nyo di naman tunay na makukuha ng mga pipila at magtyatyga sa labas. Pinagloloko nyo mga manonood ahiiiiii.” Manlapaz said.

According to the netizen, he recognized the contestant in one of the vlogs made by Buboy.

Some netizens who also followed Buboy’s social media page also recognized the contestant.

“Yan ung nsa paresan nkita ko yan sa blog ni jelai nung nag prank kay buboy,” netizen Leear said.

“Pati yung IPhone na papremyo nila na tumatawag kunwari sa viewers pero wala namang information nung nanalo,” netizen Mark commented.

As of writing the post already reached thousands of shares online and again, Eat Bulaga received criticisms from netizens.

Rendon Labador, may banat kay Paolo Contis: “Magbigay ka muna ng sustento bago pa-premyo!”

Motivational Speaker Rendon Labador couldn’t hide his disappointment against actor Paolo Contis after becoming a host of Eat Bulaga.

In his social media post, Rendon slammed Paolo for helping people even if the latter admitted that he’s not sending child support to his children.

“Anong klaseng pag katao mayroon si Paolo Contis at natitiis niyang mag bigay ng pa-premyo sa taong bayan habang nagugutom ang mga anak? Patigasan nalang ng muka bro? Alam kong nakakatawa ka, pero huwag mo namang gawing nakakatawa pati buhay mo,” Rendon said.

“Paolo Contis. Ang tigas ng muka mong mag host habang nagugutom ang mga anak mo. Sustento muna bago pa-premyo!” he also said.

Rendon then urged Paolo to correct his mistakes and start sending financial support to his children to Lian Paz and LJ Reyes.

On a rare occasion, most netizens favored Rendon’s comments against Paolo, saying that the motivational speaker was right this time.

“Mindset before talking kung kailan tumanda. Daming nasaktan na mga babae. Dapat mag sustento ka muna. Before yourself to do so.Mag bigay ka ng mga sustento sa babae mo sa mga anak mo. It can be recalled that Paolo admitted in an interview that he’s not sending child support to his children, but insisted that he was saving for them.

“It’s a mistake na nasimulan ko ever since before na hindi ako nakapagbigay,” the actor said.

“But ever since na nagtrabaho ako ng maayos, unti-unti akong naglalagay ng account para kay Xonia, kay Xylene, pati kay Summer.” he added.

Sara Duterte calls out Martin Romualdez: “He had absolutely nothing to do with my decision to run for VP”

Vice President Sara Duterte denied the claims made by House Speaker Martin Romualdez who said that he was one of the people who convinced the former Davao City Mayor to run for a higher office.

In her statement, Duterte said that it was Sen. Imee Marcos who convinced her to run for VP and not Romualdez.

She also called the claim of Romualdez as an ‘insult’ to the people and groups who made an effort to push her to enter national politics.

“Speaker Martin Romualdez had absolutely nothing to do with my decision to run for Vice President.” said Duterte. “To say that he “tremendously helped in pushing for” my Vice Presidential bid is acutely inaccurate — an insult to thousands of groups and individuals who incessantly implored me to reconsider an earlier decision not to join national politics.”

“And it was Senator Imee Marcos who eventually persuaded me to run as Vice President — and it was a decision sealed only after President Bongbong Marcos agreed to the conditions I set before running for VP. 

“There was no Speaker Romualdez in the picture.”

It can be recalled that Duterte and Romualdez’ feud started when the Vice President’s closest ally, former President and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has been demoted to Deputy Speaker from being a Senior Deputy Speaker.

She also resigned from Arroyo’s party, Lakas-CMD as part of her protest for the people who favored the decision to demote the former president.

As of writing, Romualdez has yet to respond to the statement made by Duterte.

Executives of Television and Production Exponents Inc. (TAPE Inc.) revealed the treatment they received from the hosts of staff of Eat Bulaga while working with them for several decades.

In an interview, Jon and Bullet Jalosjos said that they were never even treated like they belonged to the Eat Bulaga family despite working with them for many years.

“We have been part of the show since I was born… since it started. But every time the family would come here, we were never given the… we were never treated like we were even family or we were even part [as] producers. Talagang wala.” Bullet who’s the Chief Finance Office of TAPE said.

While they clarify that they don’t want to be treated as special, they were still saddened that they were not treated correctly.

According to them, they were not even allowed to visit the dressing room of the former Eat Bulaga hosts without permission.

“Kahit na ako yung president, kahit na kami yung producer, hindi ako nakakapasok diretso sa loob ng dressing room nila.” Jon who’s the current President of TAPE revealed.

It can be remembered that the conflict between the executives of Tape Inc. and people working at Eat Bulaga reached its boiling point after Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon already announced their resignation from the said production company.

Aside from the TVJ, the hosts and other staff of Eat Bulaga also left the show.

Currently, the former people behind Eat Bulaga already signed contract with TV5 for their upcoming new show.

 

College student na pumasok na lasing, nag-maoy sa loob ng kanilang eskwelahan

A college student was facing big trouble after confronting a teacher while he was under the influence.

In a video circulating on social media, the said student can be seen entering a classroom in the middle of the lecture and talking to the female teacher.

At first, the student who was visibly under the influence was talking calmly to the teacher, but the situation started to escalate later on when the two started to argue.

According to some sources, the teacher already noticed that the said student was under the influence so she just asked him to go out of their classroom. However, the student insisted that he was sober.

“Bakit ka pupunta dito eh hindi kita estudyante?” the teacher told the student.

 

The next scene became more intense after the teacher started to call for security to forcefully remove the student and to be brought to the DO.

It can be seen that the student started to confront and shout at the teacher, fortunately the security personnel present at the scene stopped him from doing the worse.

In the last video uploaded by the netizen, the student can be seen crying and talking to the security personnel asking them not to remove him from the school.

As of writing, the school where the student was studying has yet to give any statement about the incident.
