Television and Production Exponents Incorporated (TAPE Inc.) made a legal move to prevent Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon from continuously using the title ‘Eat Bulaga.’

In the 53-page petition filed by TAPE before the Court of Appeals (CA), they ask for a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) to stop TVJ Productions from using the title.

It can be recalled that on January 5, the Marikina Court ordered TAPE to stop using the Eat Bulaga title.

According to Atty. Maggie Garduque, the decision made by the court was disrespectful to the jurisdiction of the pending trademark case in the Intellectual Property Office.

“What is needed is for the court to decide if TVJ and Ferre have copyright ownership over these audio-visual recordings of past episodes of ‘Eat Bulaga’ to rule whether copyright infringement and unfair competition are committed. The issue on trademark ownership and cancellation is irrelevant and off-tangent in this case,” she told GMA News.

TJV’s camp has yet to give their statement on the legal move made by TAPE Inc.

Comedian Vice Ganda apologized to Anne Curtis after his joke almost jeopardized the latter’s endorsement deal with Jollibee.

On January 20, 2024, Vice and Anne exchanged jokes on It’s Showtime when the former tricked the actress into uttering the line of McDonald’s.

“Sabihin mo nga, ‘Nice, ganda,'” said Vice.

Anne repeated the words, but the actress suddenly realized that she had spoken the line of their competitor’s brand.

Vice’s actions received criticism, especially among the netizens who were aware of how product endorsement works.

“It’s an honest mistake on Anne’s part, so Jollibee shouldn’t take it against her. Vice, on the other hand.. should know better than to play around with her friend’s endorsements. Those are multimillion contracts and very specific as to what their talent can or cannot do for the duration of their engagement,” a netizen said.

“And knowing Jollibee as a corporation, nothing gets past them so Anne’s reaction wasn’t surprising. So unprofessional of Vice to shrug it off with “hindi yan”. It’s not OA to call her out because it’s her friend who will bear the brunt of her callousness. Regardless if Jollibee will take any action or not, putting your friend in such distress is terrible and no amount of laughs can justify it,” they added.

Meanwhile, Vice made a public apology on Twitter.

“Ang kj mo! Ok yan para trending! Chozzz!!! But yes it was lapse of judgement. It was our usual “brandagulan” moment na late nya narealize so nasabi nya ung tagline ng di nya namalayan. I apologized to her And pinagtawanan n lng namin. Our sisterhood will always be Nice Ganda!” he said.

“No. At times i dont think enough. Sa kagustuhan kong magpatawa bira ako ng bira kaya minsan sablay. Sometimes i hate myself. Pero ganun talaga sa comedy man o sa real life talagang hit and miss. And we’ll just have to try again,” he added.

In an interview, Dominic said he only invited Daniel’s ex-girlfriend, Kathryn Bernardo, to his wedding with Bea Alonzo.

According to him, he has yet to talk to Daniel since 2020.

“Hindi pa kami okay ni DJ/ We are not talking,” he said.

The said rift was disclosed by talent manager Ogie Diaz in 2021, saying that the close friendship between Daniel and Dominic ended.

Xander Ford announced that he sold the iPhone 15 that Christian Merck Grey gifted to his son, Xeres.

It can be recalled that Christian showed how he gave the expensive phone to Xeres, who’s his godchild.

However, several days after they received the gift, Xander put the phone on sale and explained why he decided to dispose of it.

According to him, Xeres was too young to use the phone, so he wanted to use the money he would get from selling it to buy more useful things.

As Super Tekla described, being a comedian is not always a safe profession.

In an interview on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” Tekla, who’s Romeo Librada in real life, almost lost his life after one of his audience didn’t take his joke positively.

According to Tekla, an audience so much displeased by his joke that the latter took out his weapon and pointed it at him.

He said the incident happened when he was still starting as a stand-up comedian.

“Kasi ang joke ko sa kanya, ‘Ang ingay-ingay mo diyan eh, pabigat ka lang naman.’ Mabigat, pangit ‘yung dating, pangit ‘yung atake,” he narrated.

Fortunately, Tekla successfully persuaded the audience to calm down.

“Nakuha ko siya na, ‘Sorry, I’m a comedian. Siyempre pumasok ka sa lugar na ganito, expect the unexpected. We say something not in common, so bear with us,’” he stated.

Tekla learned his lesson during that day, and he started to be more careful with his jokes after that incident.

“Kasi mahirap eh, dapat responsibility mo ‘yun. ‘Yung words mo dapat appropriate paglapat mo sa tao para hindi offensive,” he said.

Being a stand-up comedy was very different from being a comedian on television.

While being a television comedian has limits and rules, stand-up comedians have more freedom and fewer restrictions on what they are saying to their audiences.

Direktor na nagreklamo sa talent fee ni Ian Veneracion, nagsusumamo sa aktor: “I am very sorry”

The director who disclosed Ian Veneracion’s talent fee apologized for what he said in his previous post.

It can be recalled that Ronaldo Carballo claimed that the negotiation between Ian’s talent management and the Tarlac City Government fell through after the alleged demands given by the actor’s road manager.

Carballo said that Ian’s management asked for a P500,000 talent fee for the first two hours of his appearance at a parade organized by Tarlac City LGU, plus P100,000 for every exceeding hour.

He also stated that the management wanted Ian to have a solo float during the parade.

Ian’s camp retaliated and mulled charges against Carballo, saying they never asked for an additional payment for Ian’s exceeding hour.

“Contrary to the claims, we did not request any additional charges. Our terms were clear, especially regarding the hours required for the event, and at no point did we ask for a solo float,” they said.

Carballo responded to Ian’s camp and insisted that he never meant to put the actor in a bad light.

“One thing clear. di ko siniraan si Ian Veneracion. Mahal ko yun,” said Carballo.

He set the record straight, saying that he was allowed by his source to write and post about the transaction.

However, he still apologized for the misunderstanding and blamed the netizens for amplifying the issue.

“Sincerely, nagsu-sorry ako kung nailagay ko sya in a bad light. Kung nai-exposed ko ang dealings & demands ng kanyang RM na ikina-turn off ng “private company” at ng Tarlac Festival. But I will not retract what I have wrote. It’s a true story na ikinuwento sa akin, eh. Credebility ko na as a writer na iningatan ko ng 43 years ang nakataya,” he said.

He even asked if Ian was disappointed by his post or just the actor’s management.
