Maine Mendoza revealed that she decided to postpone the planning of her wedding to Arjo Atayde to prioritize the Eat Bulaga issue.

During the Dabarkads press conference on TV5, Maine said that she wanted to join her colleagues who just resigned from TAPE Inc. on May 31, 2023.

While it was already known that Maine was supposed to take a break from Eat Bulaga, she decided to be actively present again beside her Dabarkads.

“Actually naka-leave na talaga ko for the wedding planning so naka alot na ‘yung June and July ko for wedding planning pero ayon siyempre hindi ko naman pwedeng iwan sila sa mga ganto. Tulad nga ng sabi ko, kung anong laban nila, laban din namin,” Maine said.

It was also reported that TAPE Inc. offered hefty amount of money to her just to stay to Eat Bulaga, but she chose her loyalty to Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon.

“Kasi for me no amount of money can buy for my established values, self-respect and loyalty.” she stated.

Meanwhile, she’s also hoping for Alden Richards to appear in their new show on TV5.

“Hindi ko alam kung paano ang mangyayari pero si Alden naman ay legit Dabarkads. Hopefully, hindi ko pa rin alam din e, pero hopefully makasama namin siya dito sa show namin sa TV5,” she said.

Alden and Maine became a phenomenon in 2015 after they were paired in their own segment called ‘Kalyeserye’.

The two gained millions of fans worldwide and even made history for generating 40,706,392 tweets during the ‘Tamang Panahon’ event in Philippine Arena.

However, the two eventually got separated to focus on their own careers, disappointing some of their fans.

Paolo Contis reacted to the decision of several social media platforms to remove the pages registered to the new Eat Bulaga.

It can be recalled that after several days, the social media page used by TAPE Inc. to live stream their rebranded noontime show has been removed for unknown reasons.

Meanwhile, the original pages registered to Eat Bulaga that reportedly possessed team Dabarkads were still present on several social media platforms.

However, on June 20, Paolo assumed that their pages were banned because of the mass reporting from their critics who expressed support for the resigned host of Eat Bulaga.

Paolo then challenged their critics to keep reporting them because they would never give up on searching for ways to make their show present on social media.

“Hindi po kami hihinto sa pag-try na magkaroon ng Facebook page na yan” Paolo said.

“Report lang kayo nang report, post lang kami nang post! Hanggang sa mapagod kayong mag-report,” he added.

Several netizens made adverse reactions to the statement made by Paolo, saying that his tough stance would just taint the show.

“Mayabang ka paolo d kyo magttagal, maggguest ka nlng uli sa noontime show ng GMA!” a netizen said.

“Magpakabayani ka na Paolo Contis. Kusa ka ng umalis sa show, ikaw ang Jinx dyan.” another commenter stated.

Jalosjos family insists they own Eat Bulaga title and its segments: ‘We have papers to prove it’

Television and Production Exponents Inc. (TAPE Inc.) insisted that they’re the rightful owner of Eat Bulaga title, including its segments.

In an interview with Pep.ph, officials of TAPE who are also members of the Jalosjos family said that they have ‘documents’ to prove that they legally own Eat Bulaga.

According to them, they already registered to Eat Bulaga in 2011 at the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) including its logo.

While their trademark has already expired last June 14, TAPE Inc. said that they already requested its renewal.

“So, talking about even the IPO, we can show records na sa amin po yung IPO. We have the actual paper. Original po ito,” according to Jalosjos.

Aside from the Eat Bulaga title, TAPE also registered ‘Bawal Judgmental’, ‘Pinoy Henyo’, Juan for all, All for Juan, and Kalyeserye as their own.

While they were already informed that TVJ already filed to make Eat Bulaga branding as their own trademark, Jalosjos family said that they would not easily give up their rights.

They also believed that Eat Bulaga is nothing without TAPE Inc.

“Going back to what you were saying, yes, I don’t know what they’re claiming, but kung wala yung TAPE, paano magti-take off yung Eat Bulaga!? It would just have been a mere name. So, how would that happen? I don’t think you need a lawyer to understand that. Whatever claim it may be, it wouldn’t have taken off if TAPE wasn’t there to produce it.” he said.

Jon also insisted that the creative team of Eat Bulaga who resigned from the show said that they’re being paid to make segments for TAPE.

“Huwag na natin pahirapan pa. Yung mga writers ng isang show, puwede ba nila i-claim na sa kanila na yun while they’re being paid salaries, allowances? While you’re being paid to be [a] creative, and then what you created is yours? Is that right?” he asked.

He insisted that there’s no co-ownership agreement between TAPE and its rights about the segments made by Eat Bulaga.

“Any creative idea within that span of period, that’s company-owned.” the other Jalosjos said.

Joey de Leon couldn’t stop being emotional while explaining why he defended the original hosts of Eat Bulaga who resigned together with him on May 31, 2023, after having issues with their former production company TAPE Inc.

During the Media Day for the upcoming new show of TVJ on TV5, he said that one of the reasons why he really wanted the Dabarkads to stick together was because of a portion in Eat Bulaga.

Vic Sotto then said that TAPE Inc. wanted to remove the said portion despite being one of the most popular segments of their show and giving valuable lessons to their viewers.

“Kaya naiiyak si Joey kasi gusto nilang tanggalin ‘yung portion ng bagong management,” Vic said.

“Hindi po ninyo alam ang buong istorya sa mga meetings namin, ‘yun ang isa sa mga gusto nilang tanggalin,” Joey followed.

It was reported that the Jalosjos family wanted Bawal Judgmental to be removed because of being ‘boring’ and they wanted to replace it with another segment about nannies.

The rebranded version of Eat Bulaga’s Youtube channel and Facebook page has reportedly been removed for unknown reasons.

Some netizens noticed in the past few days that the social media accounts made by TAPE Inc. to publish the live streaming of their noontime show were gone.

Now, TAPE tapped one of their host, Paolo Contis who has 1.8-M followers to publish the live streaming of their show.

However, despite having millions of followers, one screencap shows that Paolo’s live only gained 650 live viewers.

Some observers believed that there’s a possibility that the Youtube and Facebook channels of the rebranded version of Eat Bulaga have been removed because the original and verified l social media pages of the longest-running noontime show were still present.

The original Eat Bulaga Facebook page has 20-M followers, while their Youtube Channel has 5.3-M subscribers.

Netizens believed that the social media pages of the original Eat Bulaga were in the possession of TVJ who resigned from the show last May 31, 2023.

It’s not yet known if they’re planning to use the said pages to live stream their upcoming show on TV5.

As of writing, TAPE Inc. has yet to release a statement on why their social media pages got removed.

Aiko Melendez’s dance inside session hall receives criticisms from Rowena Guanzon, netizens

Quezon City District 5 Councilor Aiko Melendez received criticisms on social media after she uploaded a video while dancing inside their session hall.

In the video uploaded on Tiktok, Aiko and SK Federation President Julian Trono can be seen dancing ‘Touch my Body’ by Mariah Carey.

The incident happened before the session, but some netizens couldn’t hide their disappointment towards the two public officials for allegedly showing disrespect to the hall.

P3PWD party-list nominee Rowena Guanzon reacted to the video, saying that public officials should be penalized for doing such acts inside the session hall.

“There must a law or rules of the House of Representatives against this,” Guanzon said.

Aiko then explained that they recorded the video ‘before session’ so the actress believed she didn’t do anything disrespectful.

However, several netizens showed the rules at the Quezon City session hall.

One of the rules was avoiding any recording inside the session hall except for permission from the Office of the Vice Mayor.

However, it seems that Quezon City Vice Mayor Gian Sotto let Aiko record inside the session hall.

“Nahuli kami ni Vice Mayor Gian Sotto, huli pero di kulong,” she said.

Jose Manalo, Wally Bayola says ‘loyalty’ more important than ‘money’: “Yang pera sandali ubos, pero ang prinsipyo dala dala mo yan”

Jose Manalo explained why he decided to resign together with Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon despite being offered twice his salary just to stay in Eat Bulaga.

The comedian confirmed that he received such an offer, together with Allan K and Wally Bayola to stay with TAPE Inc. in exchange for a big amount of money.

However, Jose refused the offer and decided to follow TVJ because of his loyalty to them.

Wally also agreed with what Jose said, saying that he wanted to be with TVJ.

“Hindi naman tayo mayaman pero kailangan natin ang desisyon, basta ako ang nasa puso ko susunod ako sa TVJ, at ang loyalty ko nasa TVJ,” said Wally.

Xander Ford, balak idemanda si Christian Merck Grey matapos siyang pataubin nito: “Sobra-sobrang pandaraya ginawa sakin,”

Xander Ford planned to file charges against Christian Merck Grey after losing his boxing match against the latter last June 18 on ‘Battle of the Youtubers’ (BOTY).

In his video, Xander claimed that Christian cheated during their match, resulting in him losing consciousness at the start of round 2.

According to Xander, he was planning to secure a medico-legal certificate to help him make Christian legally accountable for what happened.

The controversial influencer argued that Christian and the owner of BOTY, Mark Jayson Warnakulahewa let him face the latter despite not being a professional boxer.

“Sobra-sobrang pandadaya yung ginawa nyo sa akin. Yung ginawa niyo sa akin na pinalaro niyo ako dun sa gitna ng boxing ring kahit hindi ako professional. Sana wala nang gantong mangyari sa ibang tao.” Xander said.

Xander claimed that he became bedridden for several days because of the result of his match against Christian, forcing him not to work.

“Christian Merck Grey, napakasinungaling mo, sana matapos na ‘yang kalokohan mo. Sana wala ka ng lokohin katulad sakin at sana wala ka ng mapahiyang tao,” he said.

“Kulang pa ‘yung mga binayad mo sakin sa ginawa mo sakin ngayon,” he added.

Before the video ended, Xander showed how he was taken care of by his partner Gena Mago.

It can be recalled that the feud between Xander and Christian started when the former demanded the latter to pay him P349,000.

Xander said that Christian pledged to shoulder the expenses for the baptism of his child.

Tito Sotto shares the lesson he learned from Eat Bulaga issue: “Hindi lahat ng tao katiwa-tiwala katulad namin”

Tito Sotto shared the lesson he learned after leaving Television and Production Exponents Inc. (TAPE Inc.) and now having deprived of their right to use the title Eat Bulaga.

During the media conference that happened on June 20, 2023, Sotto said that he learned that not everyone should be trusted after he discovered that the Jalosjos family who owned TAPE registered Eat Bulaga’s trademark as their own.

“Malaking bagay talaga ‘yung trust, tiwala.. Siguro isa sa mga lesson namin dito, hindi lahat ng tao katiwa-tiwala katulad namin,” said Sotto. “Kasi kami kapag sinabi naming black, black, pag sinabi naming white, white.”

According to him, they were not aware of the plan of TAPE to register Eat Bulaga’s trademark.

“Hindi namin alam na noong 2011, nag file ng trademark na kanila raw ‘yung Eat Bulaga, ni hindi sinama ‘yung pangalan namin, anong ibig sabihin ‘non, you did it in bad faith,” he said.

He explained that they still have the right to use Eat Bulaga title because TAPE had only registered for a trademark for ‘goods and merchandise’ and not for copyright.

“The copyright belongs to Joey de Leon,” he insisted.

Sotto believed that it would only take time to know if they were the rightful owner of Eat Bulaga title.

“Eat Bulaga is TVJ, TVJ is Eat Bulaga,” he said.

He also confirmed that Joey already filed for a trademark for Eat Bulaga despite being unnecessary because it’s already a public knowledge that he’s the one who created the title of the noontime show.

Television host Vic Sotto vowed to retain the title of their noontime show Eat Bulaga from Television and Production Exponents Inc. (TAPE Inc.) after their transfer to TV5.

During the media conference on June 20, 2023, Vic talked about the possibility of them taking the title Eat Bulaga despite already being used by their former production company which the Jalosjos family owns.

According to Bossing, they’re not yet deciding on what title they would use for their new show on TV5 because they really wanted to use ‘Eat Bulaga’.

Bossing Vic said that for 44 years, Eat Bulaga became part of his life so he couldn’t imagine using another title for their new noontime show.

He even mentioned TV5’s chairman Manny V. Pangilinan, hinting that the tycoon would help them to retain the title.

“You can just imagine after 44 years, minahal mo… ako more than half of my life. Kapag absent ako sa ‘Eat Bulaga!’ parang may kulang sa buhay ko tapos kukunin lang ng kung sino-sino, aba hindi pupuwede… hindi papayag si MVP.” he said.

Meanwhile, Joey de Leon joked that they would change the title of their show every day.

“Pwede kunyari Monday sasabihin ni Pareng Vic na ‘Our title of the day…’ Joey said.

Tito Sotto then responded, saying that they’re seriously trying to insist on their right to use Eat Bulaga title.

“We are definitely working on the legal side for ‘Eat Bulaga.’ Si Joey ang nag-imbento no’n e. History and the law back us up…it may take some time, but we will be able to use ‘Eat Bulaga.’ I’m sure of that.” Tito explained.

As of writing, TAPE Inc. was still using Eat Bulaga title for their show on GMA Network, gaining criticisms from the netizens who believed the company should stop using the title after TVJ left them.

However, observers believed that TAPE Inc. would not give up Eat Bulaga title without having legal proceedings between them and TVJ.
