Carlos Yulo’s father couldn’t hide his disappointment after his son publicly discussed their problems on social media.

After the press conference held by his wife, Angelica Yulo, Mark Andrew Yulo said he was saddened by the worsening rift between his family members.

According to Mr. Yulo, the problem between his family was caused by Carlos’ girlfriend, Chloe San Jose, and not because of money.

He also insisted that they didn’t pocket any amount from Carlos’ account, which contradicted the claim of the athlete who said that his mother ‘zeroed’ his account.

“PHP6 million pa lang yung pera niya, then naging PHP11 million. Hindi naubos yun. Bakit namin nanakawin yan?” said Mr. Yulo. “Kung nasa amin yung pera, sana umalis na kami sa looban. Sana may mga account na kami, may kotse na kami. Wala nga kami, nagko-commute lang kami,”

He also argued that they didn’t seek money as they’re already used to have a poor lifestyle.

Mr. Yulo also shared his realization, saying that money also caused all the troubles happening now.

“Kahit wala naman kami, sanay naman kami walang pera, e. Sanay kami sa problema, sanay kami sa mga ano… kahit ano lang ang kinakain namin. Sanay kami sa asin,” he stated.

“Gusto ko sana yung masaya lang kami. Gusto ko nga sana mabalik yung dati, kasi… kaya lang ngayon? Magulo pala pag ganito, pag marami kang pera. Gusto ko yung bago siya sumikat nung 2019. Gusto ko yung masaya lang kami. Masaya kami, kumakain kami sa labas,” he added.

Mr. Yulo also said that he only wanted Carlos to bond his family before all of them decided to build their own.

Amid the issue between Carlos Yulo and his mother, Angelica Yulo, the story of the first Filipino Olympic gold medalist, Hidilyn Diaz, went viral on social media.

The story was about how Hidilyn inspired her parents as her inspiration to push harder during competitions, which eventually gave her the first Olympic medal for the country.

In an interview, Hidilyn narrated that she became motivated to give back to her parents after she witnessed how hard it was for her mother to provide money for her children.

Hidilyn said that she was allocating half of her earnings to her parents and siblings to help her family.

“When I was younger and would ask for money from my mom, and she didn’t have it, I told myself that next time, part of the prize that I would get would be for her and my siblings,” she said.

The athlete was also known for her wise financial decisions, which enabled her to retire early and spend more time with her family without worrying about her income.

Hidilyn reportedly owned several properties and businesses, which gave her passive income.

It can be recalled that Hidilyn received more than P35-M after she won a gold medal for the sports weightlifting.

The Senate Committee on Public Information and Mass Media subpoenaed the two independent contractors of GMA Network after they were tagged on what happened to Sparkle artist Sandro Muhlach.

It can be recalled that Sandro was allegedly forced by GMA head writers Richard Cruz and Jojo Nones after the newbie artist entered their room after the Network’s Gala.

Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada said he had no choice but to issue a subpoena as Nones and Cruz refused to attend the hearing.

“I just read the letter coming from Mr. Richard Cruz and Mr. Jojo Nones and I believe that the letter, the statements stated here are unacceptable,” said Estrada.

“I just would like to give a piece of advice to these 2 gentlemen, alam niyo pagka inimbita kayo sa Senado huwag niyo i-preempt ‘yung aming mga tanong. I think this letter is totally unacceptable and I move that we subpoena them ad testificandum on the next hearing,” he added.

It can be recalled that Sandro’s father, Nino Muhlach, couldn’t stop himself from becoming emotional while describing the aftermath of the incident to his son.

Estrada also wanted to invite Sandro, but he was advised by the latter’s lawyer not to force it as the actor was still having mental health problems.

‘Creepy?’

A contestant of Eat Bulaga’s segment ‘Peraphy’ went viral on social media after he acted unusually during the game.

Angelito Calida, who’s an avid fan of Eat Bulaga, was given a chance to play on Peraphy, but something odd happened during his participation after he suddenly left the hosts, Vic Sotto, Miles Ocampo, and Ryzza Mae Dizon, and went to the other side of the stage.

The hosts were visibly baffled after Calida suddenly left them. They even tried to look at the production team several times, as they noticed something was wrong with the contestant.

When Calida walked towards the other side of the stage, he could be seen walking close to Singing Queen Anne and suddenly hugged the latter.

The hosts quickly tried to handle the situation by calling the marshalls and the medics, while Tito Sotto could be heard saying, ‘May tama ito,” while also trying to call other staff of the noontime show.

Calida was guided back to their original position, where Vic asked the contestant about his condition.

Miles then tried to handle the situation by saying that the contestant was only nervous.

The netizens praised the incident as they saw the professionalism of the Eat Bulaga hosts, who tried to handle the situation without embarrassing the contestant.

Some netizens tried to create theories about the contestant’s actions; some even said that he might be a stalker of SQ Anne.

However, others believed that Calida was just really nervous at that time.

While Mrs. Angelica Yulo was holding a press conference, her son, Carlos Yulo, and his girlfriend, Chloe San Jose, enjoyed the culinary experience in France.

In a Facebook post, Chloe San Jose shared some photos taken during their date at one of Paris’ most popular restaurants, Le Brebant Paris, to celebrate the two-gold medal finish of the Filipino gymnast.

Chloe ordered a 1/2 Homar Blue Grille grillé a la plancha, which cost 38 euros (2,400 PHP).

Caloy ordered a juicy Steak haché, which reportedly cost 22 euros (1,380).

They also ordered some steak, and salad to complete their dish.

“Food trip! Us and Parisian food against the world,” Chloe wrote.

However, some netizens still couldn’t stop themselves from being skeptical of Chloe, saying that while Carlos’ family was living simply, she decided to eat a luxurious dish.

“Mother knows best talaga kung ganito naman kagarapal talaga ang mamanungangin niya.Looks transgender talaga sya eh. Paano niyo nalulunok pagkain gayong dapat family ni carlos ang kasama niya dyan at di ikaw gatungerang palaka,” netizen Maria said.

Kapag ako nagkaanak ng lalake tapos ganito GF, sorry pero never ko matatanggap ang isang babaeng di marunong magpakumbaba. Parang nang-aasar pa sa mga post. Yung pinagdadaanan ng family ngayon tapos nakuha pang magpost ng fancy foods. Parang she wants to tell the world that she’s the Queen,” netizen Kate commented.

Raymond Fortun

Mrs. Angelica Yulo acquired the service of high-profile lawyer Atty. Raymond Fortun amid her issue with two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo.

During the press conference held on August 7, 2024, Mrs. Yulo stood beside Fortun, who’s known for handling high-profile cases of Senators Juan Ponce Enrile and Bong Revilla, Governor Henry Pryde Teves, Presidential Adviser Michael Yang, Kris Aquino, Vicky Belo, Willy Revillame, Claudine Barretto, Gabby Concepcion, Zsa Zsa Padilla, and Vice Ganda.

It can be recalled that Fortun already warned the netizens to stop talking about his client, saying that the matter should be held privately between the mother and son.

“The public is hereby informed that ALL statements made attributed to Mrs. Yulo and/or any of her children that are critical of, disparaging or tend to tarnish the accomplishments of her son, CARLOS EDRIEL YULO are untrue, fake, and mere products of imagination and fantasy by heretofore unknown individuals,” he said.

Fortun also sympathized with Mrs. Yulo, saying that he understood the feelings of his client.

“If my wife speaks badly about my son’s girlfriend, it is NOT maligning my son but an ACT OF LOVE. Mothers are always protective of their children, don’t you agree? Isn’t it the stereotype that the mother-in-law does not like the daughter-in-law? So why is this such a big issue for so many?” he argued.

“If I am doing ‘damage control’, it is in the best interests of the Filipino people. We should not be distracted by a private family matter; instead, we should all rejoice in the honor brought to the country by Caloy. Agree?” he added.

Mrs. Angelica Yulo faced the public to apologize for her statements in past interviews and social media posts she made.

During the press conference, Mrs. Yulo could be seen reading a prepared statement to say sorry to Carlos, saying that she was not a perfect mother and also her son.

The two-time Olympic gold medalist revealed that her mother ‘zeroed’ his bank accounts without his knowledge.

He also said that he had already forgiven his mother, but the words his mother told him were still fresh.

Chloe San Jose pinatulan si Direk Darryl Yap

Australian TikToker and Carlos Yulo’s girlfriend, Chloe San Jose, responded to Director Darryl Yap after the latter made a series of posts against her.

It can be recalled that Yap defended Yulo’s mother from the negative comments thrown by netizens against her.

“Nagdiriwang tayong lahat ngayon sa mga ginto ni Carlos Yulo—nakita natin ang lahat ng kanyang paghihirap, pagsisikap at pagpupunyagi. Pero hindi natin nakita ang pagtakbo, paggapang, pagtumbling at pagsplit ng Nanay nya para maging tao at mabuhay ang mga anak niya ngayon,” he said.

He also noticed how San Jose appeared in the video uploaded by Yulo, saying that the statement might not really be for the gymnast but for the sole purpose of defending his girlfriend.

“Nagdiriwang tayong lahat ngayon sa mga ginto ni Carlos Yulo—nakita natin ang lahat ng kanyang paghihirap, pagsisikap at pagpupunyagi. Pero hindi natin nakita ang pagtakbo, paggapang, pagtumbling at pagsplit ng Nanay nya para maging tao at mabuhay ang mga anak niya ngayon,” Darryl.

As a retaliation, San Jose accused Yap of forcing himself to get involved in the issue.

“Parang ikaw lang direk, dami mong say. Quits lang,” said San Jose.

“Paanong quits? Ikaw, pina say mo sa jowa,” Yap responded.

French Vaulter na ‘sumabit’ sa 2024 Paris Olympics, nakatanggap ng $250,000 na alok

A French vaulter who went viral on social media received a generous offer from a company to appear on their website in exchange for $250,000 (14-M PHP)

According to the report published by TMZ, the company CamSoda was offering Anthony Ammirati a hefty amount of money to do a daring act on their platform.

“If it was up to me, I’d award you for what everyone else saw: your talent below the belt,” said CamSoda vice president Daryn Parker.

“As a lover of crotch-centric activities, I’d love to offer you up to $250,000 in exchange for a 60-minute webcam show in which you show off your goods, minus the crossbar, of course,” he added.

It can be recalled that Ammirati failed to achieve his 5.7m target during the qualifiers of pole vault after a part of his body was caught by the bar on his way down.

Ammirati described the incident as a “big disappointment” for him as he failed to reach his gold medal dream due to unforeseen circumstances.

Carlos Yulo’s financier and mentor, Cynthia Carrion, received netizens’ praise after being instrumental in the Filipino gymnast’s two-gold medal finish during the 2024 Paris Olympics.

In a Facebook post, Rodel Revilla shared the story of Carlo’s meeting with Cynthia Carrion, the current president of the Gymnastics Association of the Philippines (GAP).

According to Revilla, Carrion had been financing young people in the country for two decades, as she believed that someone in the Philippines would become a world-class athlete.

“Carlos was just a young boy from Manila when Cynthia first saw him at a local gymnastics competition. His performance was electrifying; his movements were precise and filled with an energy that set him apart from his peers. Cynthia, attending the event to scout for talent, immediately knew she had found a gem,” said Revilla.

“After the competition, she approached Carlos and his family. She introduced herself and offered to sponsor his training and education. Carlos’s parents, who worked tirelessly to make ends meet, were initially skeptical but soon realized the sincerity in Cynthia’s eyes. They accepted her offer, marking the beginning of a partnership that would change Carlos’s life forever,” she added.

Carrion also shouldered some of the expenses for Carlos’ training in Japan under one of the best coaches in the world.

“Carlos faced moments of doubt and fatigue, but Cynthia was always there to remind him of his potential. She became more than just a financier; she was a mentor, a confidante, and a second mother. She taught him the value of perseverance, the importance of discipline, and the power of believing in oneself,” he wrote.

“Carlos’s dedication began to pay off as he started winning medals at international competitions. Each victory brought him closer to his ultimate dream: the Olympics. Meanwhile, Cynthia continued to support him from the shadows, never seeking the limelight for herself. She believed that true success was about empowering others to shine,” he added.

Carrion was still in her quest to find more athlete who could become the next Carlos Yulo and will bring honor to the country.

“Ang daming taong tumulong sa akin. Si Ma’am Cythia, lahat po inaaway niya para lang suportahan ako. Siya ‘yung tumayong magulang ko po, naniwala po talaga sa akin,” Carlos said.
