The Captain of the boat that rammed by a Chinese Vessel apologized to President Rodrigo Duterte, explaining that he’s not aware that the Chief Executive doesn’t invite him in Malacanang.

On Wednesday, Insigne told the media that what happened between him and the government was considered as miscommunication because it was the Department of Agriculture (DA), not President Duterte, invited him to go to Manila for a meeting.

He also insisted that he backed out in meeting the government representatives on Monday because of being sick.

“Humihingi ako ng paumanhin sa ating mahal na presidente, na hindi po pala ako pinatawag niya kundi si Secretary Piñol po ang nagpatawag sa amin. Hindi po ako natuloy, umatras ako dahil masama ang pakiramdam ko,” Insigne said.

Agriculture Secretary Manny Pinol was glad that Insigne clarified the issue, saying that the previous statements of the boat captain put the President in a bad situation.

“It put the President in a bad light. Para bang inisnab niya ang presidente, eh wala namang invitation talaga,” Pinol said.

“So hindi po totoo yung balita na mayroong imbitasyon ang pangulo na makipagusap sa kanila. This was a manufactured statement. By whom? I don’t know,” he added.

On the same day, Insigne and the other 21 fishermen who are part of the F/B GEM-VER crew received help from the Department of Agriculture.

They received fiberglass boat and financial assistance to the government.

Insigne became the representative of the fishermen and even criticized the government several times because he felt that the President abandoned them already.

Meanwhile, Insigne received moral support from the opposition members and supporters.

Government gives fiber glass banca to 22 crew of the boat that rammed by Chinese Vessel

While the captain of the F/B Gem-Ver kept saying that President Rodrigo Duterte already abandoned them, the government on Wednesday made a way to help the 22 fishermen who got involved in the “hit-and-run” incident happened last week in the West Philippine Sea.

The Department of Agriculture (DA) sent 11 Fiberglass boats with marine diesel engine, fishing equipment, and groceries to the fishermen who led by Captain Junel Insigne.

In the photo posted by government-owned media network PTV, it showed the gifts being presented to the public to show that they’re not abandoning the 22 fishermen.

Aside from the said items being given to the fishermen, the government also vowed to do more assistance to them.

The gifts were sent two days after Insigne refused to meet the President, saying that they assumed that Duterte already abandoned them.

On Monday, President Rodrigo Duterte and Captain Insigne to were scheduled to meet in Malacanang, however, the latter refused to talk to the Chief Executive because of being “traumatized”.

On the same day, Insigne met with the representatives of the Office of the Vice President (OVP).

Lawyer to the wife of the Captain of sunk Filipino ship: “Binalewala? Teka, Madame. Hindi fair yan.”

A lawyer lectured the wife of the Captain of the ship that rammed by a Chinese Vessel last week after the latter assumed that the current administration already abandoned them.

On Tuesday, Lanie Insigne, wife of Captain Junel Insigne of F/B Gem-Ver said that they’re also a supporter of the President. However, the current actions of the government on the issue of the West Philippine Sea disappointed them.

“Siya ang binoto naming president. Hangang-hanga kami sa kanya kasi matapang siya, tapos parang binabalewala niya lang kami.” Insigne told CNN Philippines.

As a respond, Atty. Trixie Cruz-Angeles told Mrs. Insigne that they should not assume that the government already left them because the President even made some efforts to reach out to her husband, but they chose to decline it.

Angeles said that it’s the decision of the Insigne family not to communicate with the government so they should not blame the current administration if they felt that they left out.

“Binalewala? Teka, Madame. Hindi fair yan.  Una, inimbitahan ang mister ninyo na makipagusap sa pangulo. Pwedeng pwede siyang daingan. Pwedeng ibigay ni mister ang storya niya, ang side nya, yung naranasan niya.” Trixie Cruz-Angeles said on her social media post.

“Hindi ninyo pinapunta yung asawa ninyo, madame. That is on you. Huwag mag expect ng himala. Kayo po ang tumanggi ng pagkakataong marinig ang buong storya ng asawa ninyo.” she added.

Angeles also insisted that the government is not yet done on doing their best to solve the recent issue, pointing out to Insigne that she must listen accurately to the President’s statements about the upcoming investigation on the hit and run incident.

“Wala pang tapos, Madame. Maliban lang sa pagsasara ng isip ninyo.’ Angeles said.

Blogger to Junel Insigne after declining to meet the President: “Bakit ayaw mo ma meet? Kasi fiscal at abugado na marunong kumilatis?”

A blogger made a letter addressed to the captain of the boat which allegedly rammed by a Chinese Vessel on June 12, questioning why the latter suddenly became afraid of meeting the President of the Philippines.

In a lengthy post, blogger Krizette Laureta Chu was wondering why Insigne decided not to face the President despite being vocal in front of the local media about the incident.

She urged Insigne not to waste his right and the chance to meet the President personally so they could explain the whole story to the government.

Chu even made a sarcastic statement, saying that the President should face a big issue before his State of the Nation Address on July 22.

“I mean, dapat may malaking issue na pasan ang Presidente sa SONA nya para ma reduce ang accomplishments nya. Ang ganda nga ng timing eh,” Chu said.

“Dapat hindi ganon Kuya! Yung mga atat na atat ipagsabong ang PH at China will be so disappointed umatras ka! Tsk tsk tsk!” she added.

In an extension of her post, Laureta Chu asked Insigne if he’s afraid of meeting the President because Duterte is a fiscal and could find out if they’re lying or not.

“Si Duterte pa eh pag na feel nya na Talagang inapi ka baka bigyan ka pa ng own fishing boat… bigyan ka ng kung ano ano, May scholarship pa ang anak mo… BAT AYAW MO MA MEET? Kasi fiscal at abugado na marunong kumilatis?” she said.

Chu even said that if the opposition members are handling Insigne, the President should make a move and let the 22 fishermen including their captain to be exposed not only in the local scene but also internationally.

“Nakikita ko na to. They’re planning small incidents throughout the three years that will rock the President’s base supporters.” she said.

“They will assault the poorest of the poor, those who have no social media like fishermen, who will think that the President doesn’t stand up for their rights, and who will not know the real truth. All they need to do is push the stereotype that Duterte is a tuta of China and will not protect his own citizens and they will actually have a fighting chance to win 2022,” she added.

It was also reported that Vice President Leni Robredo herself would go to Mindoro to talk to Insigne. However, it’s not yet known if the meeting has been pushed through.

Yesterday, the wife of Junel, Lani Insigne, said that she convinced her husband not to meet the President anymore because of their disappointment over the statement of some of his cabinet officials.

They even demanded Duterte to visit Mindoro personally if he wanted to talk with the fishermen.

“Wala ring mangyayari sa kanya doon, anong gagawin niya doon? Katulad niyan binalita na wala naman magaganap na pag pupulong, anong gagawin niya doon?” Mrs. Insigne said.

Malacanang is not yet releasing a statement on the recent decision of Insigne to not meet with the President.
