Unang episode ng noontime show ng TVJ, umabot ng milyon milyong views

As expected, the first episode of the noontime show of Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon, and former Eat Bulaga hosts on TV5 has been considered successful on social media.

As of writing, the live stream of TVJ’s noontime show has already reached 200,000 live views compared to its competitors Eat Bulaga with ‘1,200 live viewers’, and ‘It’s Showtime’ with 72,000 live viewers are both being aired on GMA Network.

Hundreds of people were also waiting outside the TV5 studio to join the Dabarkads.

TV5 also held live viewing in several places in the Philippines.

#LegitDabarkads is also trending on Twitter and also the hashtag of its competitor, #GnaGsaShowtime.

Meanwhile, Jalosjos-owned Eat Bulaga seems nowhere to be found on the trending list.

It can be recalled that TVJ left Eat Bulaga together with all of its hosts and most of its staff on May 31, 2023, after facing several issues with their former production company TAPE Inc.

People were now waiting for what show would win the rating game on television between TVJ, Eat Bulaga, and It’s Showtime.

However, observers said that TVJ must not be confident as their competitor network has a wider television reach than TV5, so they still must plan for the long run.

A blogger made his reaction to the netizens and influencers who defended Awra Briguela from the accusations she was facing after getting involved in a heated confrontation last Thursday night in Makati City.

Awra was still under the custody of the Makati authorities while waiting for the court to open on Monday. But netizens demanded that the actor should be released even without an order from the court.

However, the calls for Awra’s release have been reduced after Makati Police released CCTV footage taken inside the bar where the actor and her group were partying together with the complainant, Mark Christian Ravana.

The said footage showed Awra following the complainant many times and demanded to the latter to remove his clothes.

Awra was spotted forcing the complainant even if the latter wanted to leave the bar already.

In his Facebook post, Sangkay Janjan asked the netizens and influencers who defended Awra about their reaction after watching the CCTV footage.

“Nasaan na ang mga influencers, mga artista, mga vlogger na tinawag pang “True Friend” kagabi si AWRA ngayong lumabas na ang kuha ng CCTV bilang ebidensya sa mga kasong isinampa.” Sangkay asked.

“Para kayong binuhusan ng malamig na tubig ngayon! Si Awra mismo ang nangunguna sa kalokohan ayon sa kuha ng CCTV at ito rin ang sinasabi ng mga nagtatrabaho sa Bar.” he added.

Sangkay even mentioned Raffy Tulfo who also defended Awra from the issue.

“Kaya naman pala, rekta pinadlocked ng mga Pulis! Talagang malaki pala ang atraso nitong Awra. Pano niya kaya lulusutan ngayong kita sa CCTV ang mga kaanuhan niyang ginawa.” he said.

Bianca Gonzales and Jake Ejercito praised Sen. Raffy Tulfo for defending Awra Briguela from the comments made by Makati City Police Chief/PCol. Edward Cutiyog about the Kapamilya actor.

On June 30, 2023, Tulfo lectured the official for saying alluding that Awra was attracted to the complainant.

“E alam mo naman, si Awra is gay. Gusto niyang makita ‘yung magandang katawan.” the chief stated.

“Ay hindi , sir. Mali ka dyan, sir. Huwag, sir. Huwag ganoon. Palibhasa gay, gusto makita agad ang katawan ng isang lalaki? Siguro may pinagmulan yung kaguluhan. Paano n’yo po nalaman na nagsasabi ng totoo itong complainant na pinaghuhubad siya ni Awra?” Tulfo responded.

Bianca thanked Tulfo for correcting the said officer.

“Salamat Sen. Tulfo for correcting the backward and harmful thinking and reasoning. Malaking bagay lalo’t maraming kalalakihan ang nakikinig sa iyo, Sir.” Bianca said.

Jake then posted a clip taken during the interview of Tulfo to the Makati Police chief.

Several netizens also asked Makati City Mayor Abbie Binay to discipline the police chief for making such comments about Awra.

“Hahayaan na lang po ba natin ang ganitong kababang diskurso na galing mismo sa makati chief of police?” netizen told Binay.

“Hindi lang si awra sinasabihan nya non, gineralize nya, inassume nya na dahil gay gusto makita ang magandang katawan. Kainis eh, nasa posisyon pakaignorante.” netizen Serah commented.

Sen. Raffy Tulfo couldn’t hide his disappointment over the comments made by Makati City Police Chief P/Col. Edward Cutiyog, about the case involving Kapamilya actor Awra Briguela.

Cutiyog, who got interviewed by Tulfo in his program ‘Wanted sa Radyo’, narrated the story of Awra’s complainant, identified as Mark Christian Ravana.

“Noong medyo nakainom na itong si Awra, pinuntahan itong victim at pinipilit itong hubaran para matignan ang katawan… Noong nasa harap na sila ng establishment bar na iyon ay sinundan sila ng grupo led by Awra and then pinagpupunit ang kanilang damit. And then sinira siya, and then nahulog, and then pinagtatadyakan ng ibang kasamahan. Yun po ang nangyari,” Cutiyog said.

They also confirmed that no one from Awra’s camp filed a complaint against Ravana.

Tulfo then asked why Awra would do such a thing, and Cutiyog’s answer disappointed the senator.

Tulfo then reminded the chief not to discriminate LGBTQIA+ people like Awra.

“Kasi parang dini-discriminate n’yo. Palibhasa gay agad agad magre-request sa macho na maghubad at noong hindi pumayag na maghubad ang macho, kakamlutin. Parang discrimination maman yan sa LGBTQ community.” Tulfo told Cutiyog.

“Next time po maging patas po kayo at huwag po kayong mag-discriminate.” he added.

The statement made by the Makati Police chief received criticism from celebrities and netizens.

However, CCTV footage released by the establishment where the incident happened supported the story of Ravana.

 

 

Eat Bulaga, releases own version of ‘Pinoy Henyo’ titled ‘Word of the Rings’

The rebranded version of Eat Bulaga already released its version of ‘Pinoy Henyo’ with a different title from the popular segment.

On June 30, 2023, episode of the controversial noontime show, they introduced ‘Word of the Rings,’ a gameshow similar to ‘Pinoy Henyo’ that claimed to be owned by former Eat Bulaga writers who left the program last month.

Paolo Contis is now leading the segment previously hosted by Vic Sotto.

Several guest celebrities played the iconic segment, a popular parlor game among Filipinos.

Fans of former Eat Bulaga Dabarkads expressed disappointment and accused Television and Production Exponents Inc. (TAPE Inc.) of copying Pinoy Henyo.

However, defenders of the rebranded version of Eat Bulaga reminded the netizens that TAPE Inc. owned the ‘Pinoy Henyo’ trademark until 2032.

It can be recalled that Tito Sotto insisted that Eat Bulaga’s popular segments, including ‘Pinoy Henyo,’ were owned by the writers.

“When you create something, at the moment of creation, you are the owner,” Sotto, a lawyer and legislator, said.

But TAPE argued that they’re paying their writers to be ‘creative’ and all the creations made by their staff during their period as Eat Bulaga employees were owned by the production company.

“Huwag na natin pahirapan pa. Yung mga writers ng isang show, puwede ba nila i-claim na sa kanila na yun while they’re being paid salaries, allowances? While you’re being paid to be [a] creative, and then what you created is yours? Is that right?” one of TAPE Inc. executives explained.

LGBTQIA+ rights group Bahaghari appealed to the authorities to free Kapamilya actor Awra Briguela, who’s currently under the custody of the Makati City Police.

In an interview, Bahaghari Chairperson Reyna Valmores revealed that they’re trying to free Awra, who’s not allowed to post bail, as the courts were closed during weekends.

Awra was expected to be released on Monday, but Bahaghari does not want the actor to stay behind bars for so long.

Aside from their appeal, Valmores said that they plan to make the authorities who caught Awra accountable for their actions.

They described what happened to Awra as an ‘unjust detention’.

Valmores said that they’re already having dialogues with Mayor Abigail Binay to help them junk the case against Awra.

While thousands of netizens believed that Awra was innocent, CCTV footage released by Makati Police shed more light on the incident.

The footage showed Awra followed the complainant several times and even pushed their group when the latter refused to remove all his clothes as the actor demanded.

Some netizens said that the CCTV footage favored the story of the complainant, who said that Awra was the one who made them uncomfortable during their stay at the bar in Makati.

Kapamilya actor Awra Briguela received tremendous support from her friends, fans, and the LGBTQIA+ community after being involved in a heated confrontation at Poblacion, Makati, Thursday night.

Thousands expressed their support to the actor and even demanded the Makati City Police free Briguela, who was expected to stay behind bars until Monday while waiting for the opening of the court.

However, the sentiment of the netizens was slowly changing after GMA News published the CCTV footage taken before the confrontation happened.

The CCTV footage was taken inside the bar where the group of Awra and the complainant Mark Christian Ravana, were partying.

In the footage, it can be seen that Awra was trying to talk to the group of Ravana and having fun with them.

According to the complainant, Awra was trying to ‘dare’ him to remove his clothes, but Ravana said that he refused the demand from the actor.

However, Ravana claimed that Awra kept insisting on his demands and even followed him outside the bar.

“Nakursunadahan niya po ako, hindi niya po ako pinapalabas ng bar hangga’t hindi po ako naghuhubad,” Ravana told GMA News.

“Hindi ako pumapayag, tapos nilalayuan ko siya,” he added.

Just to make Awra satisfied, Ravana decided to remove his clothes, but the actor asked him to remove his pants, which the complainant refused to do so.

The refusal of Ravana disappointed Awra and resulted in a heated argument between them.

Awra then pushed the group of Ravana, but the complainant decided not to pay attention to the actor anymore and left the bar.

However, Awra followed them, and that’s when the heated confrontation started.

The CCTV footage published by GMA News shed light on the incident, and some netizens were now questioning Awra’s innocence on the issue.

As of writing, Awra has yet to give any statement on the issue.

Internet celebrity Christian Albert ‘Xian’ Gaza, reminded the netizens that the law should still be respected amid the issue involving Kapamilya actress Awra Briguela.

On June 29, 2023, Awra was put under the custody of the authorities after being involved in a heated confrontation between him and a group of men at Poblacion, Makati.

Awra went viral on social media and received support from several influencers with millions of followers online.

However, Xian said that despite being trending, netizens should not force the authorities from freeing Awra.

“Inaresto at ikinulong si Awra because that’s how the system works at wala kayong magagawa doon. Na-caught in the act siya sa kaguluhan eh. Nasa tamang due process ang mga pulis na damputin siya,” Xian said.

Xian also questioned why Awra’s group didn’t file charges against the complainant, Mark Christian Ravana.

“Justice for Awra? Guys, the justice system is working properly on him. Sadyang nagkamali lang siya at nabutasan ng batas. Hindi porke trending sa social media eh maaari na siyang palayain. Kahit gaano pa kalinis ang intensyon niya para sa kanyang mga kaibigan,” he said.

Meanwhile, LGBTQIA+ groups were already calling for Awra’s release.

“We call for the urgent release of Awra and the dropping of all false, trumped-up charges against her.” LGBT group Bahaghari wrote in a statement.

 

Jessica Soho reportedly refuses to guest Vice Ganda on Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho

Vice Ganda went viral on social media because of his statement hinting his interest in appearing on one of Jessica Soho’s shows on GMA Network.

The comedian made the statement during the contract signing between ABS-CBN and GMA Network as part of the deal to air ‘It’s Showtime’ on GTV Channel.

“Napag-usapan namin ni Tita Cory (Vidanes), kasi siyempre magpu-promote. Sabi ko, meron lang akong request, since maggi-guest tayo sa ibang GMA shows, puwede ko bang i-request na mag-guest ako sa programang ito. Gusto ko lang lumabas sa programang ito, kung uubra lang.” said Vice.

However, showbiz columnist Cristy Fermin said that she got information that the award-winning journalist refused the idea of seeing the comedian who made fun of her in 2013.

She got the information from the make-up artist in Soho.

Talent manager and showbiz reporter Ogie Diaz talked about the issue between comedian Pokwang and Lee O’Brian, who were currently having issues with the ownership of their former Youtube channel ‘PokLee’.

According to Ogie, he got information that Lee was asking Pokwang to pay him more than P2.4-M if she wanted to get her channel.

“Kasi nga ang nakarating din sa atin, na para ibigay ni Papang ‘yung Poklee channel nila sa YouTube kay Mareng Pokwang, na may 531,000 na followers, e 2.4 million ang sinisingil ni Papang. Totoo ba yun papang?” Ogie asked.

It can be recalled that Pokwang wanted to take back the said channel that was currently being possessed by Lee.

However, Lee refused to give the channel to Pokwang.

“Hi Mare. Thank you so much sa tulong. Sensya na maga ang mata ko, maghapon akong iyak nang iyak. nanghihinayang kasi ako sa PokLee Youtube namin. E ayaw naman i-surrender nung isa. Ayaw nmang ibigay sa amin ng anak niya. So we decided na mag-start na naman ako from the top.” Pokwang said.
