Mayabang kasi? Lawyer writes an open letter to Lea Salonga, reminds the singer to be more respectful with her fans

A lawyer observing the issue involving Lea Salonga wrote an open letter to the international singer, reminding her to be more careful with the words she uttered on social media.

In his Facebook post, Atty. Arnedo Valera of Valera and Associates shared a statement made by Salonga in 2019, in which she said that people should stop using their phones at concerts and theater performances.

In the said statement, Salonga stated that people should leave the venue if they’re just going to use their phones in the middle of the show.

“So yeah. More cellphone users at plays and concerts. You guys have zero manners, zero breeding, zero empathy. If all you’re gonna do while sitting in the front row of a play is hunch over your phone, do everyone a favour and leave. Your presence is disruptive and disrespectful to the actors and the audience.” Salonga said.

“Money may get you theater tickets and your state of the art cellphone, but it can’t buy you class,” she added.

Valera gave his comment on the said statements from the singer, reminding her how her fans made her career successful.

“Your supporters have been there for you, often using their hard-earned money to buy theatre tickets to your shows or merchandise related to your work. This is how they express their love and admiration for your talent. Even the state-of-the-art cellphones are means by which they connect with you, through social media .In essence, the financial investments they make allow them to appreciate and support the art and artists they love,” the lawyer said.

“Furthermore, one must be cautious about conflating class with wealth or material possessions. Class is inherently about how we treat others and interact with the world, not about the tangible things we own or the money we have. To suggest that spending money on things we value, like theatre tickets or technology, somehow lessens our class may inadvertently discourage people from supporting the arts.

“Respectfully, we are all in this journey together. As much as you have been a source of inspiration, remember that it is the same fans that helped elevate you to the heights of your success. Their support, expressed through their financial means, is a testament to their love for your talent and dedication. It is their class, their respect and appreciation for your craft, that has also contributed to your success.”

While Valera said that he understood the point made by Salonga, he said that the singer’s message to her followers showed signs of ‘elitism and arrogance.’

As of writing, Lea has yet to response to Valera’s open letter.

She also believed that the chief executive would prioritize promoting culture and arts like his father, former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr.

However, until now, Beverly didn’t see any signs that the president was promoting the welfare of celebrities like her.

“During that time, siya talaga ang pinakamagandang choice. When it was my time to do my choice, pumili po ako, nasa utak ko na siya ang pinakamahusay for the job,” said Beverly.

“Ako ang aking gusto talaga, sana matutukan ‘yung culture nd arts. Dahil ako, naniniwala ako na sa kultura natin manggagaling yung value formation,” she added.

She accused PBBM of interacting with the ‘dilawans’ or the people who supported the opposition in the last election.

“Sir, bigyan niyo naman po kami ng, give us a fighting chance. lahat ‘yung mga sumuporta sa’yo. Dami namin e, 31 million kami. Bakit parang ngayon hindi masyadong importante. Nakikita namin kasama mo sa Malacanang, kasama mo sa kung saan saan, ‘yung dilawan.” the actress stated.

“Dahil ba sa kailangan mo silang ligawan para kumampi sa’yo? Kailangan mo bang baliwalain kami? Ina-add mo sila pero mina-minus mo kami…Naiinggit ako siguro. Kasi sila ‘yung napapansin e. Asaan kami?” she added.

Eat Bulaga’s popular segment, ‘G sa Gedli’ on July 22, 2023, went viral on social media after the statement made by its winner who’s working as a carinderia owner.

Dindo Arroyo narrates the only time he sees Fernando Poe Jr. angry: “Nautal lang ako”

Actor Dindo Arroyo narrated the only time he saw the late King of Philippine Movies, Fernando Poe Jr., angry.

Dindo shared that aside from being the leading actor, FPJ also sometimes directed his own movies.

He described FPJ as a strict director, and he saw him upset once when the latter saw him sleeping on the set of the movie, ‘Dalubhasa.’

“Nahiga ako sa kama kasi kakainom ko lang ng gamot, hindi po sa pagyayabang medyo at that time marami po akong ginagawang pelikula, siguro mga tatlo o apat ‘yun na nilalagari ko,” Dindo said.

“Umabot po sa punto na kahit may lagnat ako tuloy ang taping at hindi ako nagrereklamo. Papahinga lang ako ng kunti, action na.

“So humiga ako habang sine-set up ‘yung mga ilaw, about five minutes nakatulog ako.. Dumating ang FPJ ‘o rehearsal tayo, two lines tayo Dindo’ nag buckle ako, hindi ko naman nakalimutan, nautal lang ako sa isang word tapos nagalit.

“First time ko siyang nakita nagalit, ‘eh ang hirap naman sayo dindo e, pahiga higa ka diyan, alam mo naman na bawal [dito ang matulog] baka sabihin nila ng importansya [dahil] inaanak kita e?’ napatahimik ako.”

Dindo didn’t tell his condition to FPJ, but when the so-called ‘Da King’ discovered that he was sick, he quickly apologized to the actor.

He explained that he forced himself to work because he did not want to delay the production of the movie, which may also affect his co-workers.

“Maniwala po kayo sakin, nag-apologize siya, ‘bakit hindi mo sinabi pasensya ka na inaanak, hindi ko alam kasi ayoko lang talaga na may natutulog sa set ko.'” he narrated.

“Kinalimutan ko ‘yung parents ko just to make her feel good. May mga time din na nagsisinungaling ako just to make her feel good. Siniraan ko ang best friend ko just to make her feel good,” he added.

However, Marites downplayed the claims made by her former partner.

In her response, she posted a photo of a Chihuahua and included the text ‘Kawawa’ on it.

As of writing, Marites has yet to give a direct response to Joel, but netizens believe that she will do it soon.

It can be recalled that Joel has already been having a relationship with another woman, but denied that it was former Eat Bulaga host Gladys Guevarra.
