MTRCB summons TVJ production after Wally Bayola’s cursing on Sugod Bahay

The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) summoned the producers of E.A.T, TVJ Productions after Wally Bayola cursed during an episode of ‘Sugod Bahay.’

In a press released by MTRCB on Friday, they ordered TVJ Productions to appear in their office and explain why they should not face suspension for allegedly violating ‘Section 2 (B), Chapter IV of the Implementing Rules and Regulations of Presidential Decree No. 1986’

“Any violation of PD No. 1986 and its Implementing Rules and Regulations governing motion pictures, television programs, and related promotional materials shall be penalized with suspension or cancellation of permits and/or licenses issued by the Board and/or with the imposition of fines and other administrative penalty/penalties,” MTRCB said.

It can be recalled that on the August 10 episode of the noontime show, Wally together with his co-hosts Jose Manalo and Zombie were talking to Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon who were at the studio.

When the camera was focused on Jose, Wally could be heard saying inappropriate words that prompted TVJ to hush the latter.

According to some Kapamilya fans who called the attention of MTRCB, Wally should be also summoned for his action even if the host only said if by mistake.

Kapamilya fans call the attention of MTRCB Chair Lala Sotto after Wally Bayola’s cursing on E.A.T

Kapamilya fans called the attention of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) after Wally Bayola allegedly cursed on live television.

The August 10 episode of E.A.T’s segment, ‘Sugod Bahay mga Kapatid’ gained the attention of the netizens, especially the ABS-CBN fans after they heard the bad word uttered by Wally.

In the said episode, Wally and Jose were talking to the studio hosts Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon.

When the camera was focused on Jose, Wally who was not visible on the screen was heard saying expletives.

Even the legendary trio were surprised by what they heard and tried to hush Wally.

It’s not yet known if Wally was aware that his microphone was on during the said incident.

Several ABS-CBN fans believed that MTRCB would just ignore Wally’s action because of the connection of the agency’s chair to the hosts of E.A.T.

“Syempre deadma si Lala dyan. Sya ba naman nandyan during launch as a daughter not as MTRCB chair. makikita na naman namin pagmumukha nya sa mga sinehan,” netizen Stream said.

“Siyempre Di papansinin yan ni madam chair. Ang LALA nyo: natural lang kay Wally yan. Nakagawian na nila yn kalyeserye palang. Matagal na nila ginagawa yan. Wala naman problema. Words of expression lang naman yan. Walang dahilan para imbitahan ang Eat,” netizen Deal Lopez commented.

However, some netizens still defended Wally from the critics of E.A.T.

“You know what, yung malutong na mura actually it has become a natural part of day-to-day pinoy’s life, sad to say. so what’s the point of censorship? when you can hear this in your neighborhood everyday, you can hear this everywhere. kasi walang national sanctions,” netizen Arnym remarked.

As of writing MTRCB has yet to give any statement on the said episode.

26 Manila City councilors voted to declare Pura Luka Vega, whose real name is Amadeus Fernando Pagente as ‘persona-non-grata’ in their jurisdiction.

Pura became controversial after he posted his drag performance while wearing a Jesus Christ costume while singing ‘Ama Namin’ remix on July 10.

Many influential people criticized the said actions made by Pura and the negative comments he received were intensified by his refusal to apologize.

On August 8, 2023, Manila District 5 Councilor Ricardo Isip Jr. led the resolution to declare Pura as an undesirable visitor to the country’s capital.

He urged the other councilors to support his proposal, saying that more people may do the same disrespectful behavior if they would only tolerate the performance by Pura.

“Ito pong taong ito ay walang habas at ‘di man lang pinag-isipan ang kanyang ginawa … Isang kalapastangan po ang kanyang ginawang palabas. Hindi po dapat itong palagpasin kasi ‘pag pinalagpas natin ito, baka maparisan po ito. Kailangan na po nating gumawa ng aksyon.” the councilor said in his sponsorship speech.

Isip successfully gained the support of all the councilors.

Meanwhile, Pura expressed his disappointment with the decision made by several provinces to declare him undesirable.

According to him, he was open to talking with the people who were upset by his performance, but no one even approached him about it.

He also insisted that his performance is an ‘art’ and not mean to make fun of the Catholic Church.

Marc Pingris challenges Gilas Pilipinas: “Ang tanong lang, may PUSO nga ba?”

Marc Pingris questioned if the current roster of Gilas Pilipinas still has the ‘heart’ to win their upcoming matches in the FIBA Basketball World Cup and become the number one Asian team.

According to him, Gilas may become the number one team in Asia if they really wanted to.

“Nasa kanila ‘yan kung gugustuhin nila, nasa kanila naman ‘yuing talento. Ang tanong lang, may PUSO nga ba?” said Pingris.

However, several basketball fans said that ‘heart’ was not enough to become the number one team in Asia.

“Hnd na uso yang puro puso ang paiiralin…lahat naman my puso pati mga kalaban ng gilas my puso eh,” said netizen John.

“Di naman puro PUSO..Sadyang malakas lang talaga at ibang level na ang mga kalaban lalo na sa European..Anyway goodluck parin..Go!!” netizen Ristek commented.

“Puro puso, dapat may utak din, lahat nga ng players ng Gilas half breed na eh pero hirap pa din. Malalakas dn naman kse ibang team. Ganun talaga,” netizen Lee remarked.

It can be recalled that Pingris led Gilas in their historical win against South Korea during the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship.

After they defeated South Korea, Gilas entered the 2014 Fiba World Cup for the first time in 40 years.

The current FIBA World Cup would be held in Manila from August 25 to September 10.

Actor Luis Manzano was not included on the list of defendants in the case filed by several investors of Flex Fuel Corporation who claimed to be duped by its questionable business model.

The investors filed charges against Flex Fuel President Ildefonso Medel Jr and 11 other officials of the said corporation.

Luis was not included in the complaint by the investors before the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) even if he actively promoted Flex Fuel to attract people to invest in the gas station business.

Luis’ camp was happy with the decision of Flex Fuel investors to exclude the actor in their complaint.

“We thank the National Bureau of Investigation for working to obtain justice for investors like our client, Luis Philippe ‘Lucky’ S. Manzano, who appealed to law enforcement authorities to investigate the operations of Flex Fuel Petroleum Corporation,” said Atty. Regidor Caringal.

“He shares his co-investors hope for a quick resolution to this matter, and he remains committed to helping efforts to recover the funds that they invested in the company,” he added.

Last year, Luis asked NBI’s help to investigate the said company and claimed that the president also owed P66-M to him.

It can be recalled that some investors invested around P990,000 and expected to earn part of the profit from the said company.

Pura Luka Vega couldn’t hide his disappointment due to the treatment he experienced after his controversial ‘Ama Namin’ drag performance.

In a statement he released on Twitter, Pura, whose real name is Amadeus Fernando Pagente asked the public what mistake did he made to be declared persona-non-grata in Manila and different provinces in the country.

According to him, the public officials who declared him an undesirable visitor in his city didn’t even reach out to know the intention of his performance last July 10.

He insisted that what he did was only a way to express his art and not to make fun of the Catholic Church.

“Tell me EXACTLY what I did wrong. I’m open for a dialogue and yet cities have been declaring persona non grata without even knowing me or understanding the intent of the performance,” said Pura.

“Drag is art. You judge me yet you don’t even know me,” he added.

It can be recalled that Pura had been banned from visiting Manila according to a resolution filed by its City Council led by District 5 Councilor Ricardo Isip Jr.

“Ito pong taong ito ay walang habas at ‘di man lang pinag-isipan ang kanyang ginawa … Isang kalapastangan po ang kanyang ginawang palabas. Hindi po dapat itong palagpasin kasi ‘pag pinalagpas natin ito, baka maparisan po ito. Kailangan na po nating gumawa ng aksyon.” the councilor said in his sponsorship speech.

The lawyer of the legendary trio Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon downplayed the successful 10-year renewal of the Eat Bulaga trademark by the Television and Production Exponents (TAPE) Inc.

In an interview with Inquirer, Atty. Enrique dela Cruz Jr. of DivinaLaw explained the process of the renewal of trademark ownership and insisted that it doesn’t affect the appeal to the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHIL) to cancel the ownership of TAPE on the noontime show’s trademark.

The lawyer claimed that TAPE was only required to pay online and file a declaration of Actual Use to automatically renew their ownership of Eat Bulaga trademark.

According to Dela Cruz, the legal department of IPOPHIL still is still hearing the complaint by TVJ against TAPE.

The lawyer also questioned why TAPE has yet to answer the complaint filed against them by TVJ before the said office.

“Eh pinapa cancel nga namin yan sa hiwalay na kaso. Ang tanong, bakit hindi pa sila sumasagot dun sa kaso na yun. Bakit kailangan magpa extension?” said Dela Cruz.

Meanwhile, Atty. Maggie Abraham-Garduque said that IPOPHL could refuse the renewal of TAPE if they choose to.

“IPO can refuse to renew the registration if it has ground to do so. This means renewal is not ministerial. IPO still has the discretion to renew or not to renew,” she told the Inquirer.
