Samsung Electro-Mechanics distance the company from their workers who went viral after throwing things around a private resort

Samsung Electro-Mechanics Philippines distanced its company from the activities done by their workers who went viral on social media after they destroyed the equipment in a private resort they rented.

It can be recalled that businesswoman Noneth Palentino posted the aftermath of the party, showing that several pieces of furniture, utensils, and even water dispensers were found littered in the pool.

Later on, the workers were identified as people working with Samsung, but the company said that the outing was not sponsored by them.

In an official statement they released on August 15, said that the said outing was not part of an official event of their company.

“We would like to inform you that this is not an official event of the company, but a personal deviation made at private meeting of some employees, so please refrain from expanding and reproducing contents that are different from the facts through some social media,” the company statement read.

“Respect towards others as well as professionalism are of highest importance to SEMPHIL. The disturbing incident is not a reflection of SEMPHIL employees’ values. SEMPHIL employees expressed utmost concern that the irresponsible posting of wrong information may tend to adversely affect their true character, which they have nurtured and protected,” they added.

As of writing, SEMPHIL has yet to confirm if they suspended or completely remove the said workers from their job.

Ariel Villasanta writes an open letter to Pura Luka Vega: ‘People don’t have to know you to judge you’

Comedian Ariel Villasanta addressed the statement made by drag queen Pura Luka Vega against the people who declared him persona non grata.

It can be recalled that Pura’s world was shrinking as he was being declared persona non grata in different places in the Philippines because of her controversial “Ama Namin” performance.

He’s now considered unwelcome to visit the following provinces: Manila City, Laguna, Cagayan de Oro City, Floridablanca, Nueva Ecija, San Pablo City, Toboso, General Santos City, and Bukidnon.

Pura responded to the declaration against him, saying that people were judging him already without knowing him.

However, Ariel who became popular with his tandem with Maverick Relova, said that people judged Pura by his actions.

“People don’t have to know you to judge you. You are judged by your actions. A judge does not have to know a criminal to make a judgment,” said Ariel. “Art is not an excuse for a disrespectful act. Try mong e-mock si Allah, malamang alla ka na din sa mundo,”

“E-mock mo na din si Satanas para persona non grata ka sa impierno! De ligtas ka diba!” he added.

Netizens praised Ariel for his message to Pura and some were hoping that the drag queen would apologize for his actions.

Caridad Sanchez’s daughter shares moment with her mother who has dementia: “Mom gave me an unusual welcome today”

The child of the veteran actress Caridad Sanchez shared her meeting with her mother who has dementia.

Cathy Babao through her Instagram shared her ‘unusual’ moment with her mother, saying that the gestures by the veteran actress surprised her.

According to her, she couldn’t stop her emotion when her 90-year-old mother recognized her during their meeting.

“Mom gave me an unusual welcome today before our usual Sunday lunch. When we arrived, she pulled me close and hugged me very tight. She held me for what felt like an eternity like she didn’t want to let me go. It kind of scared me. Afterward, then she grabbed me by my right arm and pinched me so hard. What a grip! Although it hurt so much, I took it as her expression of joy over seeing us today,” said Cathy.

“Sometimes mom thinks we are sisters, or that I’m her best friend. Occasionally, I’m still her daughter and she will call me by my childhood nickname, Kate. I’ve always said that in the dementia journey, it is only the mind that malfunctions but never the heart.

“Today over lunch, as I sometimes do, to help jog her memory, I asked her who I was in relation to her, wondering if today I would be daughter, sister, or BFF. “What are we? Who am I to you,” I asked her. She looked me straight in the eye, in between bites of her favorite JT’s inasal, she replied, “Love. You are love. I love you very much.” I got so choked up. It was an answer that I did not expect. I held back my tears and said, “I love you too, mom.”

“The journey of loving and caring for a parent or a loved one with dementia is never easy. There’s a reason why it’s called the long goodbye. I believe that God in His infinite wisdom and goodness, grants us grace filled moments to soothe the heart to help us carry on.”

NBI confirms that Jay Sonza has no chance to gain temporary freedom as he is facing non-bailable charges

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) confirmed that Jay Sonza would stay behind bars as his charges were considered as ‘non-bailable’.

In an interview with ABS-CBN, NBI Asst. Dir. Glenn Ricarte said that Sonza attempted to leave the country on August 3, but was stopped by the immigration officials after they found the serious charges being faced by the veteran journalist.

Ricarte said that Sonza attempted to post, but his lawyer said that it was impossible because of the gravity of the complaint he was facing.

Sonza was currently detained in Quezon City while waiting for the trial in his case.

Anyone who is found guilty of syndicated large-scale illegal recruitment shall suffer a penalty of not less than 12 years behind bars and he was also required to pay P1-M to P2-M worth of fines.

If ever that illegal recruitment also caused economic sabotage, the penalty will be elevated to imprisonment for life.

“Naawa ako bigla sa mga anak at apo niya. Wa echos,” said Ogie.

“Parang kelan lang kung laitin ng taong ito ang mga di lang sumasang-ayon sa takbo ng pag-iisip niya. Grabe din niya akong laitin. Ang pangit ko daw. Bayaran daw ako. Pero sinasagot ko din siya. Di pwedeng manahimik, lalo na’t nilalait na ang pagkatao ko ni Mr. Sonza.” he added.

Diaz said that he was hoping that Sonza would change for the better after what happened to him.

“Will pray for your inner peace, Mr. Sonza.

From being one of the most revered journalists from the 80s until the 2000s, veteran broadcaster Jay Sonza was now being criticized and mocked by netizens after he was recently put under the custody of the authorities for estafa charges.

On August 3, NBI confirmed that they put Sonza behind bars after he tried to leave the country even if he was facing charges.

No one could imagine that Sonza, who’s being admired by many people several decades ago made a huge downfall.

During the peak of his career, Sonza hosted one of the most successful talk shows in the country Mel & Jay, together with broadcaster Mel Tiangco.

He also hosted Saksi for a year.

Sonza also became popular because of the controversy he faced after he left ABS-CBN together with Tiangco.

The veteran broadcaster filed a case against ABS-CBN that became a landmark case due to its legal significance.

In the said case, Sonza demanded that ABS-CBN should pay him separation pay and other incentives after he left the Kapamilya Network.

However, the Respondent, ABS-CBN, argued that the broadcaster was not an employee but an ‘independent contractor,’ who was not obligated to receive any perks of a normal worker.

Supreme Court favored ABS-CBN, declaring the Sonza is not an employee of the Kapamilya Network.

He also ran as a senatorial candidate in 2004 but didn’t get enough votes to gain a seat in the senate.

After reminiscing about the career of the broadcaster, netizens on X couldn’t express their regret over what happened to Sonza.

“Younger generations will never realize how we used to look up to Jay Sonza back in the day. Such a huge fall from grace,” netizen @detectivemask said

“Totoo to. Nagulat ako sa naging choices nya sa panahong ito. Sayang! Unless, eversince, ay ganun na talaga sya,” netizen Micknick commented.

“Nakakamiss talaga un mga lolo at lola/ veteran skilled personalities being seen on TV sharing their wisdom.. andami talaga nilang tumandang nalulong at ganid sa pera at kapangyarihan,” netizen Arte remarked.

As of writing, Sonza has yet to give any statement on the case he was facing.

Ayaw pa kasi mag sorry! Pura Luka Vega idineklarang persona non grata sa Laguna at Cagayan de Oro

Drag artist Pura Luka Vega had been declared as persona non grata, this time in Laguna and Cagayan de Oro City.

In resolution no. 2023-478 filed by the Sangguniang Panglungsod of Cagayan de Oro they said that ‘Amadeus Fernando Pagente’ who’s the real name of the drag artist deserved to be declared unwelcome in their city because of his disrespectful behavior after his controversial ‘Ama Namin’ performance on July 10.

All members of the council voted in favor of the resolution.

Councilor Ian Mark Nacaya who’s the principal author of the resolution said that Pura’s unapologetic behavior pushed them to follow other provinces to ban the drag queen from visiting them.

“You are violating a law. You are offending the faithful’s feelings. For a Christian nation, you are not a person with dignity,” the council said.

Meanwhile, Laguna Board member Christian Niño Lajara revealed that they also declared Pura as undesirable in their province.

The resolution also received no opposition from its official.

“It is our duty to uphold the values of respect and dignity towards our fellow individuals,” said Lajara.

It can be recalled that Pura insisted that he didn’t do wrong with his performance.

“Tell me EXACTLY what I did wrong. I’m open for a dialogue and yet cities have been declaring persona non grata without even knowing me or understanding the intent of the performance. Drag is art. You judge me yet you don’t even know me,” the drag artist wrote.

Pura was also declared persona non grata in Floridablanca Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Manila City, San Pablo City, Municipality of Toboso, General Santos City, Bukidnon.

It’s not yet known if Dipolog City, the official residence of Pura would also follow suit.
