Pura Luka Vega opposes Sara Duterte’s order to remove wall decoration in classrooms

Pura Luka Vega reacted to the order made by Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte to remove all the wall decorations in every public school classroom in the country.

According to the Department of Education (DepEd) Order No. 21, Series of 2023, all public teachers should remove every decoration in their classroom, claiming that it would help the students to focus more on the lecture.

However, many netizens opposed the order from DepEd, saying that they do not believe that decorations would distract the students from listening to their teachers.

It included drag queen Pura Luka Vega who said that classroom decoration including educational posters helped the children become more creative.

“As a former teacher, I find it weird that classrooms are stripped off of visual aids, that will supposedly help students learn and spark their interest and imagination. ‘Yung periodic table ko nga dati, I have to print to cover an entire wall so students appreciate chemistry,” said Pura.

As of writing, DepEd has yet to give any response to the criticism received by their order.

Kris Aquino reminds the critics of her family: ‘You do owe this man the fact that you have FREEDOM OF SPEECH’

This Ninoy Aquino Day, people remember the heroism of former senator Ninoy Aquino Jr. who met his end when he attempted to return to the country on August 21, 1983.

The demise of the former senator was believed to spark the People Power Revolution that toppled the 21-year rule of former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. the father of the current chief executive Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

Meanwhile, the post made by Kris to the critics of her family in 2017, reminding them who brought democracy to this country went viral on social media.

In the said post, Kris posted a video of her father and told the people that no fake news could revise the legacy of the former senator.

“You cannot rewrite history. And the truth is you do owe this man the fact that you have FREEDOM OF SPEECH, FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION & FREEDOM OF THE PRESS TODAY- because he had the balls to actually DIE for his country,” said Kris.

“In super clear language, HINDI SYA INURUNGAN NG BAYAG KAHIT ALAM NYA NUNG PABABA SYA NG EROPLANO NA BABARILIN NA SYA SA TARMAC ng AIRPORT,” she added.

The post received mixed reactions both from the supporters and critics of the Aquino family.

CDO Police Office gives an update about Adriane Fornillas case amid accusations received by Pastor Dimver Anvales

The Cagayan de Oro Police Office (COCPO) released an update about the motive of the suspects behind the case of the 23-year-old graduating student Adriane Fornillas.

It can be recalled that Lapasan Baptist Church Pastor Dimver Andales had been linked by some netizens on the case, accusing the preacher of being the ‘sugar daddy’ of Fornillas’ girlfriend Jone Oro.

COCPO then gave another clue about the possible identity of the people behind the demise of Fornillas.

According to COCPO Spokesperson Lt. Col. Evan Viñas, the motive of the case might be related to the ‘obsession’ of the suspect with Fornillas’ partner.

“Nagawa ng suspect ang krimen dahil obsessed siya, at ayaw niya mapunta sa ibang tao ang babae,” said Viñas.

COCPO refused to mention the name of the possible suspects.

Meanwhile, Andales denied his involvement, saying that Oro was only a mutual friend.

“About sa girl, yes, kilala ko rin siya because may friend siya before na friend ko rin, and because of that, I know her,” said Andales.

He even dared the people who were accusing him to file charges if they believed that he was really having an affair with Oro.

As of writing, the family of the victim has yet to give any statement on the possible involvement of the pastor.

Comedian Vice Ganda couldn’t stop himself from reacting when he saw the cake presented during the celebration of one of It’s Showtime co-hosts Ogie Alcasid.

During the August 19, 2023 episode of the Kapamilya noontime show, Vice was surprised when a cake was presented to Ogie as he seems remembered the ‘icing incident’ that became the reason why the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) ordered the summon of It’s Showtime producers.

Vice was heard shouting while trying to look away from the cake.

“Ion, labas tayo muna, Ion. ‘Wag tayo sumali diyan!” said Vice.

Ogie then responded, “Wag kang mag-alala! ‘Di natin kakainin yung icing!”

It can be recalled that MTRCB ordered It’s Showtime to explain why the show must not be suspended after the alleged ‘indecent’ gestures done by Vice and his boyfriend Ion Perez during the Isip Bata segment of the show.

As of writing, MTRCB has yet to give any decision on the issue of It’s Showtime.

AJ Raval insists that she’s not a homewrecker: “I swear to God, mamatay man ang buong pamilya ko!”

AJ Raval insisted that she never stole Aljur Abrenica from Kylie Padilla, saying that her current partner was already single when she started dating him.

In a Facebook live, AJ used God’s name to justify her explanation that the accusations that she was a homewrecker were false.

According to her, she met Aljur during the taping of ‘Nerisa’ and they started as a friend she even called him ‘Kuya,’ a sign that she did not intend to date the actor.

AJ revealed that she asked Aljur about his status several times when the latter expressed his intention to court her.

“Lumipas ang panahon, nanligaw, kinilala namin ang isa’t isa, tinanong ko siya, paano ‘yung wife, paano ‘yung family. Sabi niya sa ‘kin, okay lang ‘yun, hiwalay na talaga sila. May partner na rin si Kylie that time kaya nag-go ako,” said AJ.

“Ang sinasabi ko lang dito, I swear to God, mamatay man ang buong pamilya ko, nag-start ang relasyon namin nang wala kaming sinaktan, wala kaming nilokong tao,” she added.

She even hinted that Aljur was not the one who cheated.

“Paulit-ulit ‘yung bashers, ‘homewrecker’ and all, ayoko mag-namedrop pero kilala ko kung sino ang totoong tao na involved sa panloloko sa relationship nilang dalawa,” the Vivamax actress remarked.

“Tama na guys, pakinggan niyo si Kylie, tama na ang pagta-tag sa kanya, nananahimik ‘yung tao. Malakas ang loob ko mag-post ng picture [namin], dahil alam kong wala kaming niloko,” she added.

As of writing, Kylie has yet to respond to AJ’s statement.

It can be remembered that Aljur received accusations of cheating after he was spotted together with AJ in 2021 amid the separation issue between the actor and Kylie.

Aljur also hinted that Kylie was the one who cheated on their relationship and not him.

Inom pa more! Bohol port officials removed from post after caught drinking inside PPA office

The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) removed eight members of the Bohol Port Management Office from their position after they were caught partying and drinking at the head office of the agency.

The incident happened on August 16, 2023, and the whole party was recorded by the CCTV connected to the office of PPA head office in Manila.

Videos uploaded on the internet showed that the said officials who were visibly drunk were dancing and singing inside a government-owned office

The officials were identified as Acting Port Manager (APM) Lord Tyrone Agaton, PMO Bohol Port Services Division Manager Julius Jumangit, Atty. Sherlito Columnas Jr, Safety Officer Atty. Romeo Cabading II, Edcel E. Epan, Victor B. Cagulada, Mary Maricka R. Aguirre, Meljann B. Oronan, and Emily Ross C. Tubio.

PPA General Manager Jay Santiago couldn’t hide his disappointment with the said employees.

“Wala puwang sa pamahalaan ang mga opisyal na ginagawang inuman ang opisina, kahit birthday o anumang okasyon hindi dapat umiinom ng alak sa opisina. Dapat nga sila pa mismo ang nangunguna sa pagpapanatili ng kaayusan sa pantalan at hindi nangunguna sa pagiging hindi magandang ehemplo sa kanilang mga nasasakupan sa Bohol,” the high-ranking government official said.

The Civil Service Commission (CSC) already reminded the government workers before that drinking in government offices even during Christmas parties was prohibited.

Rep. Rowena Guanzon criticizes popular franchise qualification for its employees: “Bawal daw bungal!”

P3PWD party-list Rep. Rowena Guanzon criticized the qualifications of a popular franchise for their service crew applicants.

Through her social media post, Guanzon made a sarcastic remark after she saw that the qualification of the said company was based on the looks of their potential job-seeker.

One of the qualifications released by the said company stated that the applicant must have a ‘good set of teeth’ and their ‘weight must be proportionate to height’.

“Bawal daw bungal, magpabrace sana muna,” Guanzon wrote.

Netizens also made several comments against the company, asking if the qualification they were looking for in its applicants matched the salary they were offering.

“Ang taas ng qualification magsandok at magluto lng nman ng patatas,” said netizen Raquel.

“In most, if not all first-world countries, the “weight must be proportionate to height” and “must have clear complexion “is considered Discrimination,” netizen Benjie commented.

“Sa mga entry-level jobs, dapat sapat nang qualification yung papasa sa medical exam at “willing to be trained” para makapag-bigay nang pagkakataong makapag-trabaho yung mga marginalized sectors kagaya ng mga kulang sa educational background, senior citizens na kaya pang magtrabaho at PWDs,” netizen Allan remarked.

As of writing, the said company has yet to release any statement on the qualification released by one of its branches.

Writer questions why ‘The Victor’ statue is quickly labeled as iconic: ‘Not even sure if it can withstand a typhoon’

A writer questioned why the mainstream media quickly labeled ‘The Victor’ statue as iconic.

In his Facebook post, Wilfredo Garrido noticed that some news reports made an exaggeration in describing the 60-meter statue located on the border of Pasig and Quezon City.

The Victor was considered one of the tallest statues in the world, but Garrido was not impressed by its design and he believed that in its current state, he saw no reason to label it as ‘iconic’.

“How is this “iconic”? This 60-meter lump of metal in Pasig is said to be “taller than the Statue of Liberty” but it’s not half as majestic, just another example of avant-garde “art” lacking anatomical features that assaults your vision from far away. In short, an eyesore,” he wrote.

He even questioned the structural integrity of the said statue built by a real estate company.

Aside from its design, Garrido also mentioned the possible hazard of the said statue, including the possibility of attracting lightning.

“It’s by a private developer Robinsons. But how did it pass the Pasig City building official – considering that it is a traffic hazard and as pointed out in the comments also a lightning risk?” he said.

Meanwhile, several netizens defended the project, saying that experts handled the construction of the infrastructure.

“Palagay ko sir nasuri naman yung structural integrity ng nasabing statue. Hindi sya basta-basta matutumba kahit mahangin. May steel frame sya sa loob at nasuri na siguro yung bigat nyan at yung lupa na kanyang pinagtayuan. Hindi rin naman obstruction sa kalsada kaya wala siyang nilabag na traffic rules. Mas typhoon hazard pa nga in my opinion yung mga nagkalat na billboards sa EDSA. Pagdating sa pagiging lightning hazard, siguro naman na-assess na yan nung structural engineer since this is primarily structure and must follow the building codes of the country,” netizen Manalo commented.

It’s Showtime may possibly catch the attention of MTRCB again after Kim Chiu’s remarks

Netizens believed that the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) may send another warning to Its Showtime after Kim Chiu made a statement about ‘vibrator’.

During the August 2 episode of It’s Showtime, Kim was giving her comment to the voice of one of the contestants of ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan,’ but instead of vibrato, the actress uttered the word ‘vibrator’.

“Ang ganda ng vibrator ng boses mo,” said Kim.

Kim also received another criticism when she mentioned the word ‘p*kp*k shorts’, a remark quickly corrected by her co-host Jhong Hilario who jokingly said that it should be called ‘kwek kwek shorts’.

As of writing, MTRCB has yet to release any comment on the incident.

This is not the first time that Kim made such mistakes. In 2019, Kim also received criticism for uttering another inappropriate word on It’s Showtime.

She quickly apologized for what she said.

The trend of calling out every mistake of noontime shows started when MTRCB sent a summon order against It’s Showtime after its co-hosts Vice Ganda and Ion Perez licked a cake in front of several children during the July 25, 2023 episode of the show.

Since then, netizens started to actively call the attention of MTRCB when they noticed a mistake committed by the rival of their favorite noontime show.

One example was the campaign of some It’s Showtime fans who pushed MTRCB to also summon E.A.T producers after its host, Tito Sotto, and Helen Gamboa made an overly sweet gesture during one of its episodes.
