Some attendees of the rally organized in support of the impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte were disappointed as they didn’t receive the money promised to them in exchange for being present at the event.

In an interview, some senior citizens claimed that they were offered P1,000 by their community leader just to attend the rally.

“Isang libo po bawat isa,” one of the attendee said. “Pagkain mo na, pamasahe mo na, doon mo na lahat kukuhanin,”

“Ngayon wala pa po, hindi po namin kung papaano,” she added.

Another attendee wished they would recover even the fare they spent attending the event.

Meanwhile, the Magdalo Group, which organized the event, denied that they were behind the P1,000 promise to some attendees.

It can be recalled that Magdalo Group member former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV claimed that 40,000 people attended the rally.

Trillanes also said they were already planning another rally to convince Congress to push for the impeachment of Duterte.

However, some experts doubt that lawmakers would push for the impeachment of this 19th Congress as President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr already said he would not support it.

Some lawmakers also said that they would prioritize other bills first.

Before his demise, Moto vlogger John Arguelles could be seen unconscious after his Superman motorcycle stunt along the Marilaque Highway in Tanay, Rizal, last weekend gone wrong.

However, Arguelles eventually succumbed to his injuries, which some netizens blamed on a woman who volunteered to give first aid to the moto vlogger.

In a video taken just before the aftermath of the Superman stunt, Arguelles could be seen lying on the road when some people tried to check his condition.

Several moments later, a woman could be heard asking the crowd not to touch Arguelles and introduced herself as a nurse.

“Nurse ako! Wag niyong galawin,” the woman said.

They also removed Arguelles’ helmet and tapped him several times in an attempt to wake him up.

However, several netizens and even medical personnel criticized the woman’s acts and even questioned if she was a nurse.

Netizens pointed out that the woman was wrong for removing the helmet of Arguelles and even her decision to force the rider to sit.

“The goal is to stabilize the patient by immobilizing him and not allow unnecessary spine movements. Make sure his airways are open and monitor his vital signs,” netizen Ronaldo said.

“A concern arises regarding her decision to move and seat the victim, which may not have been the most appropriate action. In trauma situations, especially those involving potential spinal or internal injuries, it is generally advised to minimize movement until trained medical personnel arrive,” netizen Ruel commented.

Meanwhile, Arguelles’ colleague, Recs Akmad, who remained still after the incident, survived.

Some members of the House of Representatives opposed the bill, which aimed to punish corrupt government officials by firing squad.

House Bill 11211, or the Death Penalty for Corruption Act, was filed by Zamboanga Representative Kymer Olaso last week to stop the country’s unending corruption.

According to him, officials from the three branches of the government, constitutional commissions, government-owned and controlled corporations, and uniformed personnel were included who were found guilty of graft, malversation of public funds, or plunder should receive the said punishment.

However, some members of Congress opposed the bill, including Manila City 3rd District Rep. Joel Chua, calling the firing squad punishment ‘unconstitutional’ and ‘outdated.’

“Yung kanyang suggestion ay inhumane at cruel punishment. ‘Yan po ay paglabag sa ating Saligang Batas, nasa Konstitutsyon po natin ‘yan na bawal po tayong magpapasa ng mga batas na inhumane at cruel punishment,” said Chua.

Chua suggested it would be better to categorize corrupt practices as ‘heinous crimes’ before proposing such punishment.

The lawmakers also believed the bill was filed to capture the public’s attention as the campaign season approached.

“Gusto lamang makakuha ng mga boto, gustong mapansin ng tao, syempre panahon ngayon ng kampanya,” he stated.

As of writing, Olaso has yet to respond to Chua’s statement.

The camp of the rider who went viral on social media after his disastrous motorcycle stunt at Marilaque Highway in Tanay, Rizal, confirmed that they reached a settlement with the people involved in the incident.

It can be recalled that Recs Akmad, one of the motorcycle riders who performed a Superman stunt last weekend in Marilaque, was facing multiple charges for his stunt, which resulted in the demise of his friend and moto vlogger John Arguelles and several bystanders.

In a Facebook post, Akmad’s group mate, Harold Aratan, confirmed that the rider already settled with the family of Arguelles and others involved in the incident.

“And to all the friends and those who are concerned about the accident that happened in Marilaque, particularly in Manukan, we ask for everyone’s patience, and to those who have been hurt, we have reached an agreement with the victims and settled everything at the Tanay police station, thank you for understanding,” said Aratan.

Akmad also released a public apology to reaffirm the settlement between him and Arguelles’s family.

“Magandang Araw po sa inyong lahat Ako po ay lubos na humihingi ng paumanhin sa nangyare tao lang din po nagkakamali at lilinawin ko lang po na okay na po kami dun sa pamilya ni MOTOPUSH humingi na rin Po Ako ng tawad sa pamilya nya masakit din po para sa akin ang nangyare pakiusap lang din po tigil nyo na rin po ang panghuhusa kay MOTOPUSH bilang respeto na rin po sa pamilya nya,” he said.

As part of the settlement, Akmad vowed to shoulder all the funeral expenses of Arguelles, and also the hospitalization and medication of the other parties involved.

However, reaching an agreement doesn’t mean Akmad was already free from his criminal liability, as it only removed the suspect’s civil liability.

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Tuesday confirmed that Akmad would face both criminal and administrative charges for his role in the incident.

The Land and Transportation Office (LTO) confirmed that they would file multiple charges against Moto vlogger Recs Akmad following the incident that happened on the Marilaque Highway in Tanay, Rizal, last weekend.

Akmad was one of the two motorcycle riders who rammed a group of tourist after losing control as a result of their dangerous motorcycle stunt.

In a statement released on Tuesday, January 28, LTO chief Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II vowed to increase their enforcers’ visibility along the 117.5 km-long highway.

“We have to put a stop to this practice because it endangers the lives of not only the motorcycle riders but also the other road users passing in the area. In the most recent case, may namatay na nga motorcycle vlogger at may mga nadamay pang turista,” said  Mendoza.

He also met with the PNP-Highway Patrol Group to discuss the possible solutions to the proliferation of undisciplined drivers at Marilaque.

Akmad was set to face criminal and administrative charges in relation to the incident.

They would also issue a show cause order to Akmad so the latter could explain why his license should not be revoked.

“We would like to remind the motorcycle riders again to refrain from turning public roads as your exhibition areas. Napaka-iresponsableng gawain po ito. May mga tamang lugar para doon at hindi dapat ang mga kalsada dahil nilalagay ninyo sa alanganin ang buhay ng mga road users,” said Mendoza.

It can be recalled that Akmad was unapologetic with his actions.

Tanay LGU was planning to ban tourists from staying on the infamous Marilaque Highway after two motorcycle riders performed a dangerous stunt, which resulted in one death and several injured people.

According to the report, Tanay was planning to release an ordinance to ban speeding along the highway, doing dangerous motorcycle stunts, and disallow any tourists from staying beside the highway.

Tanay Municipal Police Station Chief of Police PLTCOL. Norman Cas-oy said they plan to increase police visibility along the highway to prevent motorcycle riders from speeding and performing dangerous stunts.

John Louie Arguelles and Recs Akmad

They believed motorcycle riders were encouraged to perform dangerous stunts by the hobbyist vloggers and photographers in the area.

However, PNP Tanay admitted that riders would only try to find other places without cops in Marilaque to perform their stunts.

Last weekend, motorcycle riders identified as John Louie Arguelles and Recs Akmad were racing along Marilaque, performing a Superman stunt, when they lost control as they approached a sharp curve.

The two rammed the road barrier and some tourists.

Arguelles passed away, leaving his three-year-old child fatherless, while Akmad, who was hospitalized, criticized the public, saying that they didn’t know the whole story behind the incident.
