Veteran columnist Cristy Fermin claimed that Television and Production Exponents Inc. (TAPE Inc.) was not happy with the treatment given by GMA Network to their competitor ‘It’s Showtime.’
It can be recalled that TAPE’s Eat Bulaga and It’s Showtime were now being aired on channels owned by the Kapuso Network.
But even the netizens noticed that the Kapamilya noontime show received a lavish production and star-studded GMA talent guests compared to the longest-running noontime show.
According to Fermin, she received a report about the disappointment by the people behind TAPE Inc. after seeing how accommodating GMA Network was to ‘It’s Showtime’.
“Ang sama-sama ng loob ng mga taga-TAPE Incorporated kasi ‘yung mga artista ng GMA 7 na matagal na nilang iniimbita para lumabas sa kanilang programa kamuka’t muka’t mo nasa It’s Showtime nung Sabado,” said Fermin in her online show ‘Cristy Ferminute.’
“Napakasakit nga naman nun. Sampal ng mag-asawa ‘yun,” she added.
There were circulating rumours that GMA Network took ‘It’s Showtime’ as a backup plan if ever that Eat Bulaga’s rebranding became a failure.
However, despite being unpopular on social media, Eat Bulaga on Saturday still received a decent rating despite having two competitors already.
Eat Bulaga received a 2.62% rating, compared to the Kapamilya show, which received a 3.94% rating.
TV5’s newest noontime show, consisting of former Eat Bulaga hosts, received the highest rating during that day, achieving an 8.4% average rating.
