A Philippine Military Academy (PMA) alumnus and a friend of Department of Social Welfare and Development Secretary Rolando Bautista revealed an unusual story about the latter and journalist Erwin Tulfo.
According to Nick Sotelo, a retired member of the Philippine Airforce, Tulfo, and Bautista met decades ago before they reunited after the journalist berated the former general in his radio show.
Sotelo who posted the photo showed the retired General who’s a young Scout Ranger during those time, together with Erwin Tulfo who’s still a new journalist doing his job in Jolo, Sulu.
The story told that Tulfo (wearing white t-shirt) was rescued by Bautista (wearing a white sleeveless shirt) and other members of Philippine Scout Rangers after the journalist’ speedboat sunk.
“These were the Army Rangers, whom the good DSWD secretary belongs to, who saved the man in distress. The secretary, then at J-3 or Tradoc, was the target of that foulmouthed ingrate, cursing & lambasting him on his radio program last week.” Sotelo said.
“Amnesia is indeed such a despicable disease!! Even worse, when coupled with an obnoxious bloodline,” he added.
It’s not known if Erwin Tulfo was aware of the said incident.
We are trying to get the reaction of Mr. Erwin Tulfo and Sec. Bautista on the story posted by Sotelo.
The issue between Tulfo and Bautista started when the journalist berated the DSWD Secretary who allegedly refused to be interviewed on the former’s radio program, Radyo Pilipinas.
As a result, Tulfo loses his security detail and might face charges for his statements against Bautista.
However, in a statement, the retired General said that he prefers Tulfo to donate in the 19 organizations/groups related to the AFP instead of spending money in lawsuits.
