Several residents of Davao del Sur couldn’t hide their disappointment towards their congressman after the latter voted for the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte.

In a video published by Brigada News Davao, some men could be seen destroying the tarpaulin of Digos City Representative Tracy Cagas.

Cagas was the only lawmaker from the Davao region who supported the impeachment of Duterte.

Even Cagas’ social media page was swarmed by his constituents, who were disappointed by his decision.

“You should have consulted your constituents. That’s a wrong move sir. No votes for you and for all members of the Cagas family. You represent Davao del Sur,” netizen Zelrach told Cagas.

“I am ashamed of congressman cages voting for your impeachment. His vote does not represent his entire constituency. He may have betrayed you but we, davsuranan support you all the way! naulaw ko nga ako taga davao del sur. Our apologies,” netizen Divino remarked.

As of writing, Cagas has yet to give a statement on why he decided to vote in favor of Duterte’s impeachment.

Davao region was known to be the bailiwick of the Dutertes and it was evident after 12 lawmakers refused to sign the complaint against the Vice President.

Even the known political rival of Duterte, PBA partylist Rep. Margarita Nograles, didn’t sign the complaint.

Cagayan de Oro City’s First District Representative Lordan Suan denied that House Speaker Martin Romualdez offered additional budget allocation to the lawmakers that would support the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte.

In a statement, Suan said that the supposed quote card of his statement on his decision to vote in favor of Duterte’s impeachment was fake, saying that the page posted it was not associated with his camp.

He said his vote was not a ‘personal attack’ against the Vice President and was only seeking accountability.

“It has come to my attention that a post from the FAKE PAGE, The Working Congressman, is circulating online. I never issued that statement. This is FAKE NEWS and BLACK PROPAGANDA aimed to mislead the people and tarnish my name, that of Speaker Martin Romualdez, and the House of Representatives. THESE ARE ALL LIES,” said Suan.

“I am a public servant and my loyalty will always lie with you: the people of the 1st District of Cagayan de Oro City. I have spent my time, my energy, and my spirit fighting for you, pushing for real change, for social services that lift us up, for infrastructure projects that build a brighter future, for laws that protect and improve the lives of every Filipino,” he added.

He also said that they only wanted to give Duterte a proper forum to defend herself from the accusations against her.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said he was the one who told his son, Ilocos Norte Representative Sandro Marcos, to support the impeachment process against Vice President Sara Duterte.

In an interview, Marcos said he only reminded his son about his duty as a lawmaker in the impeachment process that 215 members of Congress signed on February 5.

However, Marcos was not aware that his son was the first one among lawmakers who signed the impeachment.

“Sabi ko sa kanya (Sandro), “the process has already begun. So it’s your duty to support the process. Do your duty. You are constitutionally mandated to carry out that process.” I did not know that he was the first to sign,” said Marcos.

It can be recalled that there were reports that instead of supporting the previous impeachment complaint filed against Duterte, Rep. Marcos reportedly filed a new one.

It’s not yet known if the President was aware of the move made by his son.

Meanwhile, many experts believed that Congress was required to gather signatures again to proceed with the impeachment after the Senate adjourned until June 2, 2025.

Former Associate Justice Antonio Carpio believed the current senators have no time to launch an impeachment trial as they were supposed to reset on June 30.

However, Congress was only limited to filing one impeachment complaint yearly against an official, which raised questions about the move made by the lawmakers being futile.

More than 200 members of the House of Representatives decided to sign the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte on Wednesday.

In a swift move, lawmakers quickly approved the impeachment of Duterte several weeks after the uncertainty of the complaint filed by different groups.

The impeachment complaint led by Ilocos Norte Rep. Sandro Marcos was about Duterte’s alleged misuse of confidential funds.

The signing happened amid the move of former President Rodrigo Duterte, who questioned the 2025 General Appropriations Act (GAA) bicameral committee report prepared by Congress.

On Wednesday, more than 150 members of the House of Representatives reportedly signed the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte.

According to several reports, 153 lawmakers, or one-third of the members of the House, already signed the impeachment, which means that it was ready to proceed to the Senate to start the trial.

Three impeachment complaints were filed against Duterte for her alleged corruption practices and betrayal of public trust.

The lawmakers led by House Speaker Martin Romualdez planned to get at least 200 signatures.

Meanwhile, the Senate already asked the press to prepare for the House’s possible transmittal of an impeachment case.

“Parang naghahanda ata ang majority sa ipe-present mamaya about the impeachment. I have to verify pa nga ano ‘yung complaint na ‘yun, either one, two, or three,” said ACT Teachers party-list Rep. France Castro.

It can be recalled that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. previously said that he would not support any impeachment complaint against Duterte.

However, the decision was still in the hands of the Congress.

The Vice President has yet to comment on the possible impeachment trial she may face in the upcoming weeks.

Experts were also waiting if the impeachment would affect the result of the 2025 midterm elections.

Rep.

SAGIP party-list Representative Rodante Marcoleta confronted a pro-impeach Sara vlogger who allegedly accused him of misleading the public.

During the investigation of the House tricomm on fake news and disinformation Tuesday, Marcoleta asked Bunyong party-list nominee Atty. Ricky Tomotorgo, popularly known as Enzo Recto, about a commentary he published on his Facebook page.

The tile of the said video was huwag maniniwala sa pakulo at panlilinlang ni Marcoleta.

“Attorney kahit kailan wala akong nilinlang na mamamayan ng Pilipinas, wala kang karapatan na akusahan mo ako ng ganyan,” the lawmaker said.

However, Atty. Tomotorgo said that the contents of his video were purely his opinion.

“Sinabi mo na nanlinlang ako, wala kang masabi ngayon kung ano ang ginawa ko para manlinlang ako ng mga Pilipino? Hindi ka abogado eh, hindi opinyon ito,” said Marcoleta.

The lawyer also refused to apologize and even tried to end the discussion between him and Marcoleta.

“Okay na po siguro, kasi marami pa sigurong pag-uusapan,” he stated.

“Sorry I won’t apologize, opinyon ko po ‘yon,” he added.

Marcoleta then moved to cite Tomotorgo for contempt for not answering simple questions.

Fernandez then asked for a one-minute suspension to discuss Marcoleta’s request.

The committee then decided not to cite the lawyer for contempt as Marcoleta was not part of the panel.

Thirty-nine content creators invited by the tri-committee that launched an investigation on disinformation didn’t appear in the House of Representatives today.

It can be recalled that the lawmakers wanted to investigate the following content creators due to their alleged connections to Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) and syndicates that were investigated by the house.

However, most of the following content creators listed below didn’t heed the investigation, and some of them cited that they were protected by free speech:

  1. Jose Yumang Sonza
  2. Krizette Lauretta Chu
  3. Mark Anthony Lopez
  4. Allan Troy “Sass” Rogando Sasot
  5. MJ Quiambao Reyes
  6. Vivian Zapata Rodriguez
  7. Ethel Pineda
  8. Lorraine Marie Tablang Badoy-Partosa

  38. Ryan Lingo
  39. Ross Flores Del Rosario (Wazzup Philippines).

Meanwhile, Malou Tiquia, Mark Louie Gamboa, and Aty. Enzo Recto attended the inquiry.

In response to the content creators’ absence, the tri-committee said that they would issue a show-cause order.

Several weeks ago, Surigao del Norte Rep. Ace Barbers insisted that there were limits to the freedom of speech.

“No less than the Supreme Court decision says that there is a limitation: as long as a statement does not have malicious intent, it is not libelous. But when they go overboard and indicate malice, then we will have a responsibility to the law. Vloggers should be enlightened on that,” said Barbers.

Manila City 5th District Representative Benny Abante fumed after one of the content creators who was invited to the congressional inquiry on fake news and disinformation on social media didn’t heed their invitation.

During the first day of the inquiry on Tuesday, February 4, Abante mentioned Elizabeth Joie Cruz, also known as Joie De Vivre, saying that the said content creator made serious accusations against him and even cursed at him on social media.

“Si Benny Abante at Rommel Marbil ay mga protektor ng iligal na droga dahil pilit nilang pinalalabas na hindi ito ganon kasama,” said Abante.

“Matindi po itong mga akusasyon na ibinigay nitong… eh gusto kong magmura, pero hindi muna ako magmumura,” he added.

Abante even read the letter they received from Cruz.

“Kung nanonood ka ngayon, humarap ka dito kung matapang ka. Ang hirap sayo nagmumura ka diyan ng wala kaming kalaban-laban,” he said.

“Ang tatapang sa pagmumura na wala tayong kalaban-laban. Ngayon pag haharap dito, hindi makaharap dito. Eh takot din pala ‘yang mga ‘yan eh. So kung nakikinig ka dito, humarap ka dito kung matapang ka. Humarap ka dito namo!” he stated.

Cruz posted a laugh reaction on her social media page as a response to Abante’s message to her.

“It is an honor to make a crocodile cry,” said Cruz.

Internet celebrity Xander Ford asked the netizens for help as he couldn’t afford to fix his dental problems.

In a video he uploaded on social media, Xander showed the condition of his teeth.

Some of Xander’s teeth were gone already, and he said he couldn’t do anything because no one wanted to sponsor his dental treatment.

Xander believed that dental clinics refused free service because he was not famous enough.

“Kahit pumunta ako sa kahit saang dentist, alam ko na wala namang tatanggap sa akin. Siyempre, hindi naman ako sikat, hindi na ako kilala,” said Xander.

“Inaamin ko na hindi ko talaga kaya ipagawa ‘tong ngipin ko. Sobrang mahal,” he added.

However, he still asked the netizens if they knew a dental clinic that would volunteer to fix his teeth for free.

“Sana may mga tao diyan na kaya akong tulungan pagdating dito sa oral health ko. Baka may kilala kayong dentist, sana ma-PM n’yo po ako,” he stated.

Meanwhile, motivational speaker Rendon Labador said that he was willing to help Xander in the condition that the latter would take care of his dental health.

“Pwede kitang matulungan sa problema mo pero sa isang kundisyon, pag naayos natin yan pwede bang matuto ka na mag toothbrush? Mga influencers at vloggers ano ba akala ninyo sa veneers hindi na need i toothbrush? toothbrush din bro kapag may time message mo kuya rendon,” said Rendon.

Sen.

Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa confirmed on Monday that he was the last passenger of the helicopter that crashed in Nueva Ecija last Saturday.

In an interview with the press, Dela Rosa said that the pilot, Captain Julia Flori M. Po, 25, volunteered to fly him with his staff to Baguio City so they could attend the event earlier.

Dela Rosa said that the pilot’s father, Lion Air owner Archie Po, was their close friend.

“Hinatid lang ako sa Baguio then pagbalik niya ‘yun na,” said Dela Rosa.

He described their flight to Baguio as smooth, and he didn’t notice any problems during their travel.

“Very smooth naman ang flight namin going towards Baguio. Napaka-smooth at masaya kami sa flight. Wala kaming naramdamang anything unusual,” he stated.

Po even offered to transport Dela Rosa back to Manila, but the senator refused because he was still required to attend other engagements in other provinces.

After the event he attended in Baguio, Dela Rosa decided to travel back to Pangasinan via land.

“Kasi kung nagpahintay pa ako matapos ang engagement ko sa Baguio para bumaba [at] sumakay ulit, magpahatid sa Binmaley, ayaw ko masacrifice ‘yung oras dahil magsara agad ‘yung clouds dyan sa Baguio. Kaya sabi ko i-drop na lang ako. Pag drop uwi na agad siya,” he stated.

Dela Rosa was saddened by the incident, saying that Po was still too young.

“It really breaks my heart… Heartbroken ako ngayon nakita ko ang bata na very bright ang future. Twenty-five years old,” he stated.

According to the investigation, Po reportedly experienced engine issues on her way to Manila.
