In a photo published on May 30, 2025, the said woman identified as “Rose” could be seen doing a grocery shopping as part of DSWD’s pledge to fulfill her request to open a sari-sari store.

It can be recalled that Rose even met DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian to personally share her story.

She also clarified that she was not living inside the drainage and only wanted to recover the cutter blade fell in the canal.

Pinilit ko lang kunin yung cutter blade ko po,” she said.

Aside from receiving cash aid from DSWD, Karla would also be enrolled to Alternative Learning System (ALS) as she only finished grade 2.

However, some netizens were not happy with what Rose was receiving and others even questioned what Rose was doing in the drainage.

Some netizens argued that DSWD must background check Rose first and train her how to handle a business.

“DSWD should check their cash assistance program. Cash agad?
