Tito Sotto to people who want to veto anti-terror bill: Ganun niyo nalang murahin si PRRD tapos ngayon mananawagan kayo sa kanya?

Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III reminded the critics of President Rodrigo Duterte on how they disrespected the chief executive many times before pleading to him.

In a series of tweets, Sotto slammed the people opposing the anti-terror bill and questioned why they’re now asking something to the President.

“Ganun ganun na lang kung murahin nila si PRRD, ngayon nananawagan sila sa kanya?
@iampinglacson” Sotto tweeted.

“Respect is an important element of personality. Whatever you give to others will return to you, with Profit”. Ganun din sa disrespect! Watch out!” he also said.

Meanwhile, Senator Panfilo Lacson, one of the principal authors of the anti-terror bill said that the critics of the measure already changed their tune and now questioning how the government would implement the measure correctly.

“Many of those opposing the anti-terrorism measure have now shifted their aim to target the implementation. They have mastered the art of argumentation – when you run out of sound reasons to argue, just say: BASTA!” Lacson said.

Sotto agreed with Lacson’s tweet.

“Tama si Ping, nuong hindi umubra mga pintas nila sa laman ng bill dahil wala mga sinasabi nila, sa implementasyon naman ang target. Futuristic? Ano ba talaga?” the senate president said.

Lacson and Sotto actively defended the bill on Twitter, the known stronghold of the Duterte critics.

On June 10, several academic institutions asked President Duterte to veto the anti-terror bill, saying that it could affect the freedom and rights of the students.

Several members of Makabayan bloc, like ACT Teachers Rep. France Castro urged the President to junk the controversial measure.

“We challenge (President Duterte) to veto the anti-terror bill, and to instead address and focus on the pressing needs and concerns of the Filipino people amid the COVID-19 crisis,” Castro said.

Even the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) has joined the call to convince Duterte to veto the anti-terror bill.

Janina San Miguel reveals that beauty queens being offered by 3-M for a ‘one-night stand’ and 25-M for a relationship

BB. Pilipinas-World 2008 Janina San Miguel, the beauty queen remembered for her performance in the pageant’s question and answer portion, revealed the ‘ugly truth’ behind the beauty contests in the Philippines.

In an episode of Undercover Asia, San Miguel, who’s one of the interviewees, said that indecent proposals and the organizers of the contest were the reason why she surrendered her crown.

San Miguel, who’s a neophyte beauty pageant contestant during the time she joined Binibining Pilipinas, was disallowed to see her family while training for the competition.

“Accidentally, narinig ko na yung lolo ko nasa hospital na. Balak pa nilang di sabihin sakin na yung lolo ko m*mamatay na because I’m in the middle of training. Ayaw nilang ma-distract ako,” San Miguel said.

While winning in Binibining Pilipinas could give her a lot of endorsements, San Miguel said that some rich people were offering beauty queens of something that they might not like.

According to her, some people were ready to spend 3-M to spend a night with a beauty queen and ready to cash out 25-M if they wanted to be in a relationship.

“Noong nandoon na kami, sinabi na 3 million (pesos) for a one-night stand. ‘Yung 25 million (pesos), gagawin ka niyang girlfriend, bibigyan ka niya ng car, condo, resort, lahat,” she revealed.

“Ayun na nga yung maduming kalakaran nila. Andami talagang gustong maging girlfriend or wife ang isang beauty queen,” she added.

She refused to name the people who proposed to her indecently.

Three months before the Miss World 2008 pageant in South Africa, San Miguel decided to give up her crown.

San Miguel who’s 29-years old now chose to have a normal life far from the pageant world.

“Much important yung family ko rather than yung wealth and fame. Parang ang gulo-gulo showbusiness, ang daming indecent proposal din,” she said.

Binibining Pilipinas Charities Incorporated (BPCI) said that they’re aware already of the statement of San Miguel and planning to release a statement about the allegations of the former beauty queen.

Duterte signs establishing National Academy of Sports that will give full scholarship to student-athletes

President Rodrigo Duterte finally signed the law that would establish the National Academy of Sports (NAS).

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said that Duterte signed the Republic Act (RA) 11470 in Davao City on June 9.

“The Philippines has demonstrated that we can be on par with our neighbors in the region in terms of sports. With PRRD’s (President Rodrigo R. Duterte) signing of RA 11470, we are confident that we will be able to raise our student-athletes’ competitiveness in the field of sports and produce world-class athletes in the years to come,” Roque said.

Under the newly-signed law, NAS is tasked to give secondary education program that focused on developing the skills of young Filipino athletes.

They’re going to grant a full scholarship to the qualified athletes.

It’s planned to be built in New Clark City near the world-class Sports Complex where the 2019 Southeast Asian games held.

Aside from NAS, the law also seeks to build a high school for sports in different regions of the country.

NAS will be equipped with housing, sports facilities, and other amenities that would follow the international standards.

The photo was taken last year

Students would also be given access to the existing sports facilities in New Clark City so they could train properly.

NAS officials are also allowed to hire foreign coaches, trainers, and consultants to ensure that the students would be competitive internationally.

The budget of NAS would be funded by the Department of Education’s annual budget.

“As the Chairman of the Committee on Sports, I would like to express my gratitude to my fellow legislators for coming together in support of this measure for the benefit of our youth and for the benefit of Philippine sports,” Senator Christopher “Bong” Go one of the authors of the law said.

“Napirmahan na po ni Pangulong Duterte ang batas para maisakatuparan ang National Academy of Sports! Ang tagumpay na ito ay para sa ating mga batang atleta na nangangarap na magbigay karangalan sa ating bansa,” Sen. Win Gatchalian posted.

Last year, Bases and Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) President Vince Dizon already said that it’s already the best time to build a school that would focus on sharpening the skills of the young athletes who wanted to represent the country.

“Right now, we have the Philippine Science High School, we have the Philippine High School for the Arts, but we don’t have a Philippine High School for Sports,” said Dizon.

“This is going to be a fully subsidized high school from junior to senior, where we will have scholars who will be recruited through the Philippine Sports Commission and from the Department of Education,” he explained.

Sen. Bato Dela Rosa on anti-terror bill: You will rejoice if law-abiding ka at naging batas ito!

Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa said that only bad people should be afraid by the controversial anti-terror bill.

In an interview with Daniel Razon, Dela Rosa defended the anti-terror bill saying that they put enough safeguards to it to avoid being misused by anyone.

According to Dela Rosa, if a terror suspect was put under the custody of the authorities, they’re required to report the incident to the court, anti-terrorism Council (ATC), and to the human rights commission.

Law enforcers were also not allowed to label anyone as ‘terrorist’ without the approval of the ATC.

“Additional safeguard ito, dahil baka mamaya hulihin nalang ng pulis ang isang tao at sabihin na terorista ka, pwede kang ikulong ng 14 days so mayroon tayong anti terrorism council na nagbabantay dito,” Dela Rosa said.

The anti-terrorism council is going to be led by the Executive Secretary with the help of the National Security Advisers, PNP, and AFP.

Dela Rosa explained that law enforcers still need to serve a warrant against people who allegedly committed heinous acts and they could only put them under custody without any warrant if the illegal act was done because of terrorism.

The former PNP chief said that he convinced the opposition senators to agree to the 14-day reglementary period under the anti-terror bill after he narrated his encounter with ISIS member Mohammad Reza Kiram during his term as the Davao City police chief.

According to him, they already caught Kiram but was freed because the current law only allowed suspected terrorists to be put under the custody of the police without a warrant for three days.

Later on, they confirmed that Kiram is really a terrorist who pledged his loyalty to ISIS and actively recruiting Filipinos to join their group.

Mohammad Reza Kiram aka Abu Abdul Rahman al-Filipini

Dela Rosa also slammed the disinformation being spread by the critics of the anti-terror bill, saying that the New People’s Army tried to convince the youth to oppose the controversial measure.

Dela Rosa even said that people could post ‘Mabuhay ang NPA’ on the internet without facing any consequences, but providing the group with weapons might put them in very big trouble.

“Very clear na ang activism is not terrorism, nakalagay ‘yan dito, kahit anong pananaw mo sa buhay walang problema ‘yan, we respect your ideology kung ano ang pinaglalaban mo basta wag ka lang talagang magbigay ng material support sa NPA, wag kang magbigay ng tulong doon, pero mag express ka lang ng dissent, walang problema ‘yan, kahit na sabihin mo ‘gobyerno ay salbahe, Duterte sira ulo’ kahit anong sabihin niyo wala yan,” he said.

The politician was also confident that law-abiding people would celebrate once the anti-terror bill becomes a law.

“Kung ikaw ay law-abiding citizen at ayaw mo ‘yung epekto ng terrorism, when this bill is signed into law, you will rejoice,” Dela Rosa stated.

“Pero kung ikaw ay isang terorista or supporter ng terorista, matakot ka sa batas na ito, yun lang ang napaka simpleng summary sa batas na ito. Ito ay ginawa para protektahan tayo against terorrism, hindi para i terrorize,” he added.

Jaclyn Jose slams Pinky Amador for yelling at hotel staff: “Habang buhay nilang dadalhin ang pang lalait niyo!”

Award-winning actress Jaclyn Jose couldn’t hide her disappointment to her showbusiness colleague Vivian Velez after the latter defended Pinky Amador who recently faced controversy for cursing and yelling at condominium-hotel staff in Makati.

On June 8, Velez said that Amador was provoked by the hotel management and recorded her reaction which uploaded on the internet.

The video has been watched by millions of netizens on social media.

“Pinky was pushed to the wall and then recorded her reaction. This Palace management should be sued. Walang kalaban laban ang mga tenants,” Velez said.

Jose commented on Velez’s post and defended the hotel staff for the actions did by Amador against them.

“May pamilya yung tao, may anak asawa, kamag anak.. ano gusto niyo sabihin sa kanila? Napakalupit niyo, ano tayo sa kanila ng gutom at pandemya? Wala kayo pinagkaiba sa mga hudyo, hinahangaan kita ms Velez but not this time you little piece of sh*t!” Jose said.

“Ang akala ko kakampi ka, ang kakampi sumasang ayon sa tama. Yung Pacific Plaza Makati tumatanggap talaga OFW pero hindi ibig sabihin lahat sila may COVID… Yung hinihingi ni Ms. Amador na valid circular, but you need to understand kaka tanggal lang ng ECQ at etong pinagmumura niya di natin alam kung ano side?” she also said.

The actress said that the hotel management has the right to record the incident, saying that they need to secure an evidence against Amador who’s already intimidating them.

Velez was caught off guard by Jose and couldn’t believe that the award-winning actress really criticized her.

“Ganito ang ginagawa ng mga hackers, this is not Jaclyn Jose!”

Jaclyn Jose also used her Instagram page to criticize Amador, telling her that the hotel staff who faced her wrath might carry the incident for their entire lives.

She said that Amador destroyed the reputation of the people working in showbusiness because of what she did.

“To Ms. Amador wag naman po ganun? Paano po ang mga kapatid asawa at iba pa lahi ng taong minura nio. Habang buhay nila dadalin pang lalait nio..media at instgram lang lang amg laban nila….do not persecute naglabas ng video kasi nanakot po kayo na sasaktan nio sila video lang kakampi..front liners po sila , na d nio alam kung paano sila nakarating trabaho? 3 weeks lock down d po ba?” Jose said.

“Kinakaladkad mo mga artista kaya wala na nag titwala sa atin dahil sa mga katulad mo.dinadamay nio kami na may puso sa katulad ng mga tao na ito.magpasalamat ka pumapasok pa sa kabila covid..heartless!! Yesterday, Jose apologized to Velez for her comments.

“Ms.Vivian Velez I am sorry for what I have said in your wall.. I know what kind of a person you are, didn’t mean to lambast you. mali ako.you are a friend, a family friend for that matter..again I apologize,” she said.

A few days ago, Amador has gone viral after a video showing her while yelling and cursing at hotel staff was uploaded on social media.

Amador then issued an apology but insisted that she’s only fighting for the safety of the tenants of the condo-tel.

She also said that video recording her was against the law.

Kuryente! UP student group issues erratum for accusing military providing transport service of intimidating rallyists

A student group based on the University of the Philippines (UP) issued an erratum for accusing the military personnel stationed at their Diliman campus of intimidating the people planning to organize a rally against the government.

In a post, UP Rises Against Tyranny and Dictatorship posted a photo showing military trucks parked in front of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) office in Diliman, Quezon City.

The group claimed that the military trucks appeared minutes after they announced that they’re going to conduct rally against the government.

“Without declared purpose, this may constitute a violation of the UP-DND Accord banning military presence on campus and is an outright form of intimidation against people joining the assembly and exercising their democratic rights,” the group post read.

“This showcases the same militarist mindset that makes the terror bill a dangerous weapon against ordinary civilians,” they added.

Later on, the group issued an erratum after they got informed that the military trucks were stationed there regularly to provide transportation to the people who wanted to go inside and outside of the UP campus.

However, they said that their presence could still intimidate the people who wanted to express their disappointment to the government

“The military trucks were eventually verified to be regularly stationed there to provide some mode of transportation during the ECQ in and out of campus. Their services are important but nonetheless valued, but absent any clear purpose that time their presence inevitably caused intimidation for the would-be protesters based on credible precedent from past cases of coercion,” they said.

Radio host and blogger Mark Lopez, who screen-captured the post of the group couldn’t hide his disappointment.

“Nakupo!

A few days ago, another group of students also faced controversy after they allegedly fake the threats sent to them.

The group admitted that the number used by their intimidator was their former hotline number, however, they said that it was already sent to the junk shop a long time ago.

Lalaban ako! Gabby Lopez asks which side he will take if ever that Philippines declares war against US

If ever that the Filipino-American war happened today, the Filipinos may get additional support from ABS-CBN chairman emeritus Gabby Lopez.

During the House Hearing on ABS-CBN franchise on Monday, SAGIP party-list Rep. and Deputy Speaker Rodante Marcoleta who’s grilling Lopez asked the businessman a theoretical question to test his allegiance.

“Alam niyo po Mr. Lopez ang isa pong bansa, mapa Amerika man o kahit ano pong bansa, nire-require po ang kanilang mga mamamayan na mag profess ng 100 allegiance sa kanilang bansa, ang Amerika po ay requiring 100% allegiance to its citizens, in the same manner, that our country also requires the same, total allegiance to it,” Marcoleta said.

“Mr. Lopez, you were born in America to Filipino parents, and because of the concurrent application of the national laws of the two states, nagkaroon po kayo ng dalawang citizenship, pagiging Amerikano at Pilipino,” he added.

“In a remote possibility that the Philippines declares war against the United States, which side do you take the flag of your birth or the flag of your parents?”

Unlike the ‘Panatang Makabayan’ challenge, Lopez quickly responded to the question of Marcoleta, saying that he would choose the flag of his parents.

“I’m a Filipino, I would take the side of the Philippines,” Lopez said.

Despite his patriotic answer, Lopez said that he saw no reason for him to give up his American citizenship despite the issue being faced by ABS-CBN on alleged foreign ownership.

“I do not see a situation where I have to choose between the US and Filipino citizenship,” he said.

Marcoleta asked if the issue being faced by ABS-CBN now is not enough reason for him to choose between the Philippines and America.

“Hindi pa ba sapat na dahilan ang sinasabi ng ating saligang batas sa pag mamayari at pamamahala ng mga kumpanyang may kinalaman sa mass media at dapat Pilipino lamang ang bigyan ng pagkakataon na makapamalakad at mag ari, hindi po ba ito ay isa ng halimbawa ng mahigpit na conflict of interest at kinakailangan niyo ng mamili sana Mr. Lopez?” Marcoleta asked.

Lopez responded, saying that he believes that his service to the Philippines was already enough evidence to prove his loyalty to the Filipinos.

“All my actions have been clearly on behalf of the Philippines, everything that I’ve done is in the service of the Filipino so I don’t see a situation where I’m in conflict with the US citizenship,” he said.

Annabelle Rama slams Rep. Marcoleta for questioning Gabby Lopez: Ayaw kong makita sa TV ang pagmumukha mo!

SAGIP party-list Representative and Deputy Speaker Rodante Marcoleta received criticisms from veteran actress and talent manager Annabelle Rama after the former questioned ABS-CBN CEO Gabby Lopez’s citizenship.

Rama said that she only became active on Twitter after three years just to express her disappointment to Marcoleta who’s known for grilling the officials of ABS-CBN on the franchise issue.

According to her, she got annoyed by Marcoleta’s presence during the house hearing on the Kapamilya network’s franchise renewal.

“Pwede ba lahat ng Congressman na walang alam sa itatanong tumahimik nalang or magtanong muna sa lawyer bago pumunta sa Congress. Nakakahiya at nakakabwisit manuod ng hearing. Dong Marcoleta delaying tactics ang ginagawa mo – lahat kayo gusto lang ma starring sa TV!” Rama said.

She also questioned why Marcoleta asked Lopez to recite ‘Panatang Makabayan’ to prove his allegiance to the Philippines.

“Ako isang pinoy na bisaya.Hindi ko alam ang sinasabi ni dong Makuleta.Panatang Makabayan bakit kailangan sa hearing yan?Mga taong bayan at mga botante.
Malapit na election alam nyo na kung sino ang iboboto nyo.Nakakatawa kayo Ha ha ha..bwesssssit!” she tweeted.

Aside from Marcoleta, Rama also criticized Cavite 4th district Rep. Pidi Barzaga, telling him not to repeat his questions.

“Cong. Barzaga inuulit mo nanaman ang tanong tinanong mo na yan last hearing . Ano ba yan! Tama na ihinto mo naaaaa!!!” she said.

Rama is one of the celebrities pushing for the franchise of the Kapamilya network.

Marcoleta received criticisms from the supporters of ABS-CBN after he questioned the actions of the television network giant.

The lawmaker accused the network of violating the rights of their workers, evading taxes, foreign ownership, and political bias.

However, ABS-CBN and its supporters denied the accusations of Marcoleta.

Kim Chiu’s sister shows how the actress cries while performing ‘Bawal Lumabas’ at Wish Bus

The sister of Kim Chiu shared a behind-the-scenes video during the actress’ viral ‘Bawal Lumabas’ performance at Wish Bus.

In an Instagram post, Lakambini Chiu video recorded her sister while singing the controversial song.

@kamchiu Instagram

Chiu was being seen in the video stopping in the middle of her performance to wipe her tears.

Lakambini also made a letter to express her admiration for her sister who faced a tremendous amount of bashing on social media.

According to her, the actress tried to show that she could handle the situation but in reality, she’s also just a human that can be affected by the criticisms threw against her.

She also expressed doubts if her sister could even finish her wish bus performance.

“You may look at her as a strong woman, unaffected of everything that is happening right now. But she is also a human being. May pakiramdam. She wants to show you she is happy, strong, positive, which she is, but behind that I know there are things that She doesn’t want to show us.., she is trying to understand everything,” Lakambini said.

“She wants you to see her as a strong, brave woman standing up, taas noo, rising up from all the bullies. Because she knows wala siyang ginawang masama. Singing inside the wish bus is like facing a big fear for her, diko alam kung ready siya, kasi dyan nagsimula ang pinakalat na video to bash her honest mistake. Parang ako natatakot sa kanya, but she said “okay lang. Go lang tayo.”,” she added.

Fortunately, the actress finished her first live performance of ‘Bawal Lumabas’.

“She is so brave! Sang the song inside the wish bus, face the people who will put her down again once the video will be out, and sang the song live for the first time, which took her hours long to record because of the lyrics that hit her when she sings it. When I look at her. Hindi ko alam paano niya nagagawa lahat to. Saan siya nakakuha ng lakas harapin lahat na parang walang nangyari,” she stated.

Lakambini couldn’t stop herself from praising her sister who urged her not to put their attention to the critics several times.

She also congratulated her sister for making ‘Bawal Lumabas’ a big hit and announced that the merch made out of her song was already sold out.

Chiu’s performance was disliked by more than 400,000 people on Youtube in just 24 hours.

The song was based on her ‘law of classroom’ statement that she uttered months ago to defend her home network ABS-CBN.

She apologized for her statement, but later on, decided to make a song and sell merch out of it.
