Former Eat Bulaga hosts Pia Guanio and Sam YG reportedly refused the offer from Television and Production Exponents Inc. (TAPE Inc.) to become part of the rebranded version of Eat Bulaga.

In a report by Pep.ph, Pia and Sam refused the said offer because of work and family-related reasons.

Pia said that she wanted to prioritize her family and has no plan to return to the show after hosting it from 2003 to 2021.

Aside from her family, she already has her daily morning show on Net25.

Meanwhile, Sam who hosted Eat Bulaga from 2009 to 2016 and became popular because of his character ‘Shivaker’ also cited his daily radio show.

However, some netizens believed that Pia and Sam have other reasons why they refused to return to Eat Bulaga, including their possible respect for their former colleagues who left the show.

it can be recalled that another former host of Eat Bulaga, Michael V. reportedly refused the offer from Jalosjos-owned production company.

It’s not yet known if there are more former hosts of Eat Bulaga who received the same offer to return.

Currently, Paolo Contis, Kim Atienza, Buboy Villar, Cassy Legaspi, Marvin Legaspi, and Alexa Miro were hosting the show.

Kuya Kim Atienza received praise from netizens after he refused to become one of the new hosts of Eat Bulaga.

It can be recalled that Atienza has been named as one of the possible hosts for the rebranded version of the said noontime show, together with Paolo Contis and Buboy Villar.

However, in the first episode of Eat Bulaga’s new version, Kuya Kim has nowhere to be found, fueling speculations that the host refused the offer.

Atienza’s manager, Noel Ferrer made the announcement denying the report from entertainment writer Jun Lalin.

According to the manager, it’s impossible for his talent to accept the offer from Eat Bulaga as he has an existing contract and program.

“We’d like to clarify that HE CANNOT DO THE EAT BULAGA REPLACEMENT SHOW as it conflicts with his prior commitment with the daily program “TIKTOCLOCK” (which is also performing very well in the ratings) produced by GMA Network where Kim is contracted as an exclusive talent.” Ferrer said.

Netizens praised Atienza for refusing the said offer, saying that he showed ‘delicadeza’ for not joining the rival show of his former program It’s Showtime, and also giving respect to the TVJ for refusing the accepting the contract from TAPE Inc.

Paolo Contis couldn’t hide his happiness after considering their first day at hosting Eat Bulaga a success.

In a report by GMA, Paolo shared his experience as an Eat Bulaga Dabarkads and even expressed pride to his co-hosts including Betong Sumaya and Buboy Villar.

“Ako, proud ako. Proud ako sa nagawa natin. Masaya ako na nagawa natin ang isang malinis na show para sa mga Dabarkads natin regardless of whatever. God bless sa atin.” said Paolo.

 

It can be recalled that the actor was one of the most criticized new hosts of the show because of the controversies surrounding him.

Even netizens questioned the decision of TAPE Inc. to hire Paolo, saying that his image would affect the show.

However, Paolo clarified that he’s not the one who decided to host the show and he was only encouraged to accept the offer because it’s about helping people.

Buboy Villar received criticisms on social media after his post on May 31, 2023, sharing his reaction to the resignation of former Eat Bulaga hosts Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon went viral on social media.

In a Facebook post, Buboy can be seen expressing his sadness over the decision of TVJ and other Eat Bulaga hosts to leave the show.

“Eat Bulaga. Nakakalungkot man pero fighting! Sobrang salamat sa saya ninyo forever kayo sakin,” Buboy said.

However, the actor received criticism from netizens because 4 days after, he decided to become one of the replacement host of Eat Bulaga.

“Kahit kailan di nyo sila mapapantayan kaya ikaw Buboy Villar habang Maaga pa mag resign kana kesa mapahiya Kapa at mawalan ng tiwala sayo Yung TVJ’s .. hayst kapal ng mukha mo maypa post² kapang nalalaman na malungkot ka pero deep in side sobrang saya mo pala dahil Isaka sa mga magiging bagong host,” netizen Janfat said.

Number 1 parin! Rebranded Eat Bulaga outperforms It’s Showtime in ratings

Despite its controversies and new hosts, the rebranded version of GMA Network’s Eat Bulaga still outperformed its competitors last Monday, June 5.

According to the report, Eat Bulaga gained a 5.2% rating on Monday against TV5’s It’s Showtime which got 3.2%.

It failed to fulfill the prediction of some experts that the Kapuso noontime show would not get good ratings after legendary trio Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon left the show, together with other original hosts.

However, some critics said that Eat Bulaga possibly get a higher rating because of the curiosity of some televiewers about its new hosts.

They believe that the true ratings of the said noontime show would appear in the upcoming days when the hype was over.

“Syempre curious yung tao. Panonoodin talaga para malaman kung paano kayo i-bash,” netizen Eds said.

Xander Ford claims that his partner and child left him after the P349,000 from Makagwapo: “Hindi ko na makakasama anak ko”

After receiving the P349,000 from Christian Merck Grey, influencer Xander Ford made another criticism against his ‘kumpare’.

In a social media post, Xander claimed that his partner Gena Mago and their child Xeres left him after Christian posted a video of him giving the money he pledged to the influencer.

It can be recalled that Xander asked Christian many times about his promise to should the expenses of Xeres’ baptism.

In the said video, Xander blamed the content creator for ruining his relationship with his partner.

“Sobra ang ginawa mo Merck, sobra… Parang gusto nalang kitang sapakin,” Xander said.

He even asked Christian to delete the said video, but the influencer who’s also known as ‘Makagwapo’ said that Xander should return 50% of the P349,000 he gave to him.

However, Xander said that only P13,925.25 has been left in the P349,000, two days after he received the money.

Xander even said that he’s ready to appear in TV5’s popular show ‘Face to Face’ to discuss his issues with Christian and to demand Makagwapo delete the video.

Actor Paolo Contis addressed the criticisms he received from the netizens, clarifying that he doesn’t have any ambition to replace Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon who recently left Eat Bulaga after their conflict with Television and Production Exponents Inc. (TAPE Inc.).

In an interview with 24 Oras, Paolo said that they were ‘honored’ to be chosen to be part of Eat Bulaga, but admitted that they were pressured because of the shoes they needed to fill in.

According to him, he was only called by TAPE to host the show and he was not the one who volunteered to replace the original hosts of Eat Bulaga.

“Siyempre lilinawin lang naman natin, walang planong palitan, wala kaming chance palitan si Tito, Vic and Joey. Wala kaming chance dun. We were just called to work. To continue the show because gusto ng TAPE office na magkapagbigay ng papremyo, saya everyday.” Paolo explained.

He said that he didn’t refuse the offer made by TAPE Inc. because he really wanted to help people.

“I hope you give us a chance. Kasi at the end of the day, pinatawag kami para tumulong sa tao, para makapagpasaya ng tao. How you can say no to that?” he said.

It can be recalled that among the new hosts of Eat Bulaga, Paolo was the one who received most of the criticisms from the netizens because of the controversies he was facing, including his refusal to send child support to his children.

 

Netizen discusses Joey de Leon’s alleged hidden message during their resignation to TAPE Inc.

Former Eat Bulaga host Joey de Leon went viral on social media after some netizens discovered an alleged hidden message made by the veteran comedian during their announcement of departure to Television and Production Exponents (TAPE) Inc.

On May 31, 2023, Joey, together with Tito Sotto and Vic Sotto announced their resignation from TAPE after several issues.

“July 30, 1979 po, nang simulan namin ang Eat Bulaga.. 44 years na po ito ngayong taon. Kaya naman lubos ang aming pasasalamat sa mga naging tahanan namin – ang RPN9 for 9 years, ABS-CBN for 6 years at ang GMA for 28 years.” Joey said.

After Vic finished his speech, Joey can be seen moving his middle finger in his right hand before leaving the stage and some netizens interpreted it as a secret message made by the comedian against the Jalosjos family who owns TAPE Inc.

However, some Eat Bulaga fans who watched the same video said that Joey possibly only moved his middle finger to hold his wallet with his right hand.

As of writing, Joey who’s dubbed as ‘Henyo Master’ has yet to give any response to the netizens asking him if he really made a secret message or not.

It can be recalled that Joey was reportedly behind the name ‘Eat Bulaga’ and their slogan “Hangga’t May Bata, May Eat Bulaga!”.

Veteran columnist and manager Lolit Solis defended Paolo Contis from the criticisms he received from the netizens after becoming one of the hosts of the new version of Eat Bulaga.

In her social media post, Solis said that people should not criticize Contis just because he was chosen to host Eat Bulaga, saying that even the actor was surprised by the decision of his management and by Television and Production Exponents (TAPE) Inc.

Solis even said that Contis was also a fan of Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon.

“Trabaho lang, walang personalan. Dahil kahit kelan hindi papasok sa isip ni Paolo na magiging katapat siya sa programa ng Tito, Vic at Joey. Under siya ng management ng GMA Artists Center at kung anong trabaho ang ibigay sa kanya, tinatanggap niya.” Solis said.

The first episode of the rebranded version of Eat Bulaga received criticisms from the netizens, however, one host received most of the negative comments on social media.

In several Facebook posts, netizen questions the decision of TAPE Inc. to take Paolo Contis as one of their new hosts despite the controversy he was facing because of his past relationships and lack of financial support for his children.

In a Facebook post, Krizette Laureta Chu made a joke that Eat Bulaga should give Paolo his own segment called ‘Cheat Bulaga’, a reference to his alleged cheating on his former partner LJ Reyes.

Meanwhile, Director Darryl Yap also took a swipe against Paolo for giving prices to viewers of Eat Bulaga while not sending child support to his daughters.

“Nagbibigay ng premyo pero di ng sustento,” Yap said.

Netizens also joked about the controversial actor.

“Supposed to be pampamilya ang programa at tagline pa nga nila habang may bata may Eat Bulaga. Tapos kinuha nila yung iresponsable sa bata. What an irony!” netizen Rwoane wrote.
