TVJ’s E.A.T recovers and leads noontime show rating last Saturday

The so-called ‘Legit Dabarkads’ still proved that they’re still the king of noontime shows after leading the rating contest last Saturday, July 8.

According to AGB Nielsen Nutam data, TV5’s noontime show E.A.T led the urban rating on Saturday against its competitors Eat Bulaga, and It’s Showtime.

E.A.T achieved a rating of 4.7%, compared to Eat Bulaga, 3.1%, and It’s Showtime, 3%.

However, the rating of E.A.T still lost half of its rating compared to what it reached last July 1, during its grand launch.

Observers believed that the introduction of ‘Sugod Bahay’ helped E.A.T to recover from days of rating downtrend.

They’re also expecting TVJ Productions to create more content to make their two-and-a-half-hour show to become more entertaining.

Fans also encouraged TV5 to improve their signal to reach more TVJ fans living around Visayas and Mindanao area.

Meanwhile, netizens congratulated E.A.T for leading the rating contest.

“Congrats E.A.T. #LegitDabarkads infairview hindi pa ganung kalawak reach ng signal ng TV5 pero number 1 pa din yung dalawang show ng GMA and GTV na malawak ng reach ng signal nila nag uunahan lang sa pagiging number 2 and kung cnong kulelat sa kanilang dalawa,” netizen Aaron said.

“Enjoy sng sugod bahay today with Wally at Paolo. Pagbalik ni Jose, sigurado!” netizen Racoona remarked.

“TVJ Sakalam!” netizen Republika commented.

Awra Briguela, pinalayas sa isang show dahil sa ginawa nito sa Poblacion

Awra Briguela’s career was already affected after getting involved in a heated confrontation at Poblacion last month.

In his online show, Ogie Diaz discussed the effects of the issue on Awra’s career as an artist, saying that there were reports that the actor was removed from his current and future projects.

According to Ogie, Awra was supposed to start working on a project last July 1, but it never happened because of the issue involving him.

“Ang nakakaloka June 30 naganap ‘yung insidente sa Pobla, July 1 dapat ilo-launch, kasama si Awra sa isang show,” said Ogie.

While he’s amazed by the talent of Awra, he said that the CCTV footage which showed the nature of Awra never lied.

“Ako nagagalingan ako kay Awra, pero ‘yung attitude niya na kitang-kita sa CCTV nahusgahan si Awra do’n at lesson learned ito sa kanya. Big lesson ito sa kanya,”he stated.

They also discussed the reaction of Awra’s father when he discovered that his son was not really living in one of Vice Ganda’s condominium units.

It can be recalled that Vice was the talent manager of Awra.

Ogie said that even Vice was surprised when he discovered that Awra was using him as an alibi for his father.

“Yun pala sa mga barkada [nakatira] si Awra, nag-e-enjoy sa barkada,” Ogie revealed.

He believed that what happened to Poblacion would give a ‘big lesson’ to Awra.

Vice and Awra were also reportedly set to have a meeting to discuss important things.

Yari si Nay Cristy? TAPE Inc. plans to file charges against people spreading false information against Eat Bulaga

Talent manager and showbiz reporter Ogie Diaz discussed the issue being faced by Television and Production Exponents Inc. (TAPE Inc.) and the rumours circulating about the possible closure of Eat Bulaga on July 29.

According to one of Ogie’s co-hosts Mama Loi, they heard about the possible legal actions being planned by TAPE Inc. against the individuals spreading false information about Eat Bulaga, especially since those kinds of rumours might affect the decision of some sponsors.

“Baka daw mag-take sila ng legal action doon sa mga nagpapakalat ng balita na ganoon,” said Loi. “Kasi syempre maapektuhan ang image ng show doon sa pagkakaroon ng agam-agam ng mga advertisers,”

It can be recalled that veteran columnist Cristy Fermin made several claims about the status of Eat Bulaga, including the possible closure of Eat Bulaga on July 29.

She also claimed that Eat Bulaga was losing money already because of some advertisers who were already losing their confidence in the state of the show.

However, TAPE Inc’s legal counsel, Atty. Maggie Garduque already said that there was no reason for Eat Bulaga to close on July 29.

“Masaya ang show and the rating would speak for itself… This is a testament that people like the show. Thus, apt for the execution of long-term contract with the hosts, simula kina Yorme at Paolo, at sa susunod na linggo, ang iba pang hosts,” the lawyer said.

Eat Bulaga also surpassed E.A.T in ratings in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, a sign that people were still watching the Kapuso noontime show despite losing its original hosts.

A former Tawag ng Tanghalan contestant passed away after being run over by a vehicle on July 9, 2023, along Cabantian Road in Davao City.

According to the report, Mark Ken Mariscal, 28, was on their way to Barangay Idangan when they decided to take a bathroom break.

However, Mariscal, trying to get off his motorcycle, suddenly lost his balance and fell.

Unfortunately, a speeding white vehicle didn’t stop while Mariscal tried to stand.

Instead of stopping to check Mariscal’s condition, the vehicle fled the area.

After asking for 911’s help the singer was rushed to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) but the doctors failed to save him.

“It is with heavy hearts that we the family of Mark Ken Mariscal, announce the passing of our dear son. It is so sudden that we are still in the process of accepting the fact that we can no longer be with him. To the families, friends, colleagues, and to all who have been part of Ken’s journey in this world and maybe touched by his kind soul, we can’t thank you enough for the messages of comfort and no words can express how grateful we are.” The mariscal family said in a statement.

Mariscal joined the Tawag ng Tanghalan to represent Mindanao in 2018.

The authorities are now reviewing the CCTV footage showing the white car of the suspect and trying to trace its location.

Columnist hopes that Bimby Aquino will follow the footsteps of James Yap: ‘Sana maging basketball player’

Veteran columnist Cristy Fermin is hoping that Bimby Aquino-Yap will follow in the footsteps of his father, James Yap who’s known as one of the most talented basketball players in the country.

During her online show ‘Showbiz Now Na’, Cristy, together with Rommel Chika and Wendell Alvarez discussed the reunion between Bimby and James on Father’s Day.

They discussed the possible career that Bimby would take, including the chance of being a television host like his mother, Kris Aquino.

Cristy said that she wanted Bimby, who inherited the height of his father to become a basketball player.

“Sana turuan niya [James] ng magbasketball si Bimby para hindi sinasabi ng mga kababayan natin na magiging tv host daw,” said Cristy.

“Baka mag-volleyball nalang,” Wendell quipped.

Wendell said that basketball was a sport for men, while volleyball was popular among ladies.

“Lalake [si Bimby] kaya dapat magba-basketball,” the host said.

The hosts said that they wanted to see Bimby take advantage of his height and dominate the court.

“Kulang lang siguro sa kanya practice,” they said.

As of writing, Bimby has yet to reveal his plans about the path he was planning to take.

Veteran columnist Cristy Fermin claimed that TAPE Inc. the producer of Eat Bulaga was already losing money which might result in a premature end of their contract with GMA Network.

In her online show, Cristy said that the decision made by GMA to sign a deal with ABS-CBN and It’s Showtime was a sign that the Kapuso Network was already preparing for the possible end of Eat Bulaga.

According to Fermin, GMA has the right to terminate the contract between them and TAPE Inc. if ever the network found that the show was not gaining any revenue anymore.

She said that It may be Showtime would replace Eat Bulaga on their current timeslot, believing that the Kapamilya show had a bigger chance to be profitable.

“Kasi ‘di ba blocktimer sila ng GMA 7. Ayon sa isang nakausap ko mayroong karapatan ang network na binitiwan ang nagba-blocktime sa kanila kung nakakaapekto na sa kanilang istasyon sa kabuuan. So, next year pa ‘di ba ang kanilang kontrata pero merong karapatan ang istasyon ng kanselahin ‘yung kanilang kontrata, kung talagang kinakailangan na,” she said.

“So ano ang mangyayari rito. Kapag kinansela ng GMA 7 itong hindi lehitimong Eat Bulaga… kung hindi talaga aangat ang rating at makatutulong sa network, itong hindi lehitimong Eat Bulaga mapipilitan nga siguro ano at baka ang ilipat dun, ang magiging main noontime show nila, ‘Showtime’,” she added.

The veteran columnist also said that TAPE Inc. was losing money every day due to lack of sponsors.

“Hindi nila siguro malaman ang gagawin ngayon dahil paunti nang paunti ang kanilang kinikita dahil naglipatan na ang mga commercials nila at araw-araw nagpapasuweldo sila sa kanilang mga host.” she stated.

Meanwhile, TAPE Inc. denied that they’re already planning to end Eat Bulaga this month.

Cristy’s co-host Rommel Chika suggested that TAPE Inc. should stop using the name Eat Bulaga and change the title of their show for the better.

E.A.T introduces ‘Sugod Bahay’ as their own version of ‘Juan for All, All for Juan’

E.A.T finally introduced their own version of Eat Bulaga’s popular segment ‘Juan for All, All for Juan’.

On July 8, 2023, the TV5 noontime show presented ‘Sugod Bahay,’ as the counterpart of the segment they popularized on the longest-running noontime show.

Paolo Ballesteros, Ryan Agoncillo, and Ryzza Mae Dizon hosted the first episode of the said segment.

The first winner, Nanay Violeta, received many prizes and it was noticeable that the segment’s main sponsors were the same as Juan for All.

However, some netizens asked why the original hosts, Wally Bayola, and Jose Manalo didn’t host the segment.

They also noticed that the segment faced technical difficulties, but the launch of Sugod Bahay was still considered successful by fans.

It can be recalled that JoWaPao carried the segment for many years, and the netizens still watch many of its past episodes.

Meanwhile, Jako de Leon made his reaction after watching the first episode of Sugod Bahay.

“See! relax, mahaba pa to! Let the show catch its breath and shake off the rust. It’s been a long month for everyone as hopefully you can imagine,” De Leon said.

Observers were waiting if the said segment would stop the decreasing rating of the show.

Pamilya Jalosjos, masaya na patok parin sa manonood ang Eat Bulaga: “The rating would speak for itself

Television and Production Exponents Inc. (TAPE Inc.) executives were happy that the televiewers were still watching their rebranded noontime show, Eat Bulaga.

In an interview on July 8, 2023, after the contract signing between TAPE Inc. and Eat Bulaga talents Paolo Contis and Isko Moreno, Atty. Maggie Garduque said they already made several actions to ‘professionalize’ their employees.

It can be recalled that some Eat Bulaga hosts who left TAPE Inc. last May 31, claimed that they didn’t sign any contract with the production company despite being part of the noontime show for years.

“With the directive of our President and CEO Romy Jalosjos, we are starting to professionalize everything also like doing contract-signing with employees and talents as this does not only benefit the company but more so the talents and employees who will be secured of the terms and conditions of their engagements.” the lawyer said.

Garduque also said that Jalosjos was happy with the performance of Eat Bulaga despite its controversies.

Aside from Contis and Moreno, other hosts of Eat Bulaga were also set to sign a long-term contract with TAPE Inc.

“Masaya naman si EB President and CEO Romy Jalosjos sa EB hosts at sa development sa show.” she said.

“Masaya ang show and the rating would speak for itself… This is a testament that people like the show. Thus, apt for the execution of long-term contract with the hosts, simula kina Yorme at Paolo, at sa susunod na linggo, ang iba pang hosts,” she added.

Eat Bulaga maintained a decent rating this week despite having two competitors, E.A.T and It’s Showtime.

The contract signing happened amid the rumors that Eat Bulaga was set to end on July 29.

However, TAPE Inc. already denied the rumors, saying that there’s no reason for them to stop the show.

GMA head writer Suzette Doctolero answered the netizens who accused the Kapuso Network of abandoning Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon amid the issue between them and TAPE Inc.

In her tweet, Suzette praised the newest noontime shows aired on GMA, ‘It’s Showtime’, rebranded ‘Eat Bulaga’, and urged the netizens to support both programs.

However, several fans of TVJ expressed disappointment and accused Suzette’s company of not taking care of the so-called ‘Legit Dabarkads’ who decided to leave TAPE Inc. and went to TV5 to build their own noontime show.

“Masa pala panoorin ang It’s Showtime? No bola, alam nyong realtalk ako lagi. Pasaya rin nang pasaya ang EB. Both shows ay [thumbs up emoji] [heart emoji] panoorin araw araw!” Suzette said.

“Ows! Dati kalaban nyong show ngayon masaya na. Nanlalaglag ang GMA. Kayo na lang manood po.” netizen Zing Ling told Suzette.

Suzette hinted that TVJ really wanted to transfer to other networks even before.

“Nanlaglag? Sinong nilaglag? Si Kuya Germa nga hanggang mamatay may show e. Baka naman kasi nauna nang nakipagsundo sa kabila bago malaman ng GMA na me problema na pala? Wag hula at puro tsismis alamin ang totoo.” she stated.

When netizens tagged Joey de Leon, Suzette called the veteran comedian a liar.

“Diba pinabayaan nyo ang TVJ. Si Joey de Leon na mismo nagsabi sa interview niya.” the netizen said.

Suzette answered:  “Ah nakinig ka pala sa sinungaling. E di wow.”

She also told the netizens didn’t know the real story behind TAPE Inc. and TVJ issue.

As of writing, TVJ has yet to give any statement to Suzette’s claims.

Suzette was known to be the writer of Encantadia and Voltes V: legacy.
